The Secrets To Aging Gracefully with Nicki Williams EP26324 Sep 202400:44:31

Send us a text

On today's episode, Cody has invited guest Nicki Williams to the conversation about the importance of aging gracefully and how fitness and food intake play a crucial role in this process.

Amy, a qualified pharmacist and fitness expert, believes that about 90% of aging gracefully comes down to our choices regarding fitness and nutrition. While both fitness and nutrition are important, Amy suggests that nutrition holds a more significant impact, accounting for about 80% of the equation. Know Your Lemons: 12 Signs of Breast Cancer with Corinne Beaumont EP16211 Oct 202200:44:06

Send us a text

You probably know that breast cancer is a major killer of women worldwide. You may even know that, every year, more than 245,000 women are diagnosed with the disease in the United States alone. And one in every eight women will develop breast cancer at some point during their lives. As your doctor (hopefully) tells you at checkups, it's important to perform monthly self-checks to screen yourself for this potentially lethal disease—but, do you know what to look for? The fact is, many women don’t.

On today's episode Cody and Corrine Beaumont, CEO and founder of the organization "Know Your Lemons",  help us learn about what breast cancer can look like (because lumps aren’t the only indicator that something’s wrong). Tune in to learn all about the 12 signs of breast cancer we need to be looking for. Also about how to perform self breast-exams and when to do our self-exams during our monthly cycle.

Early detection is the goal. According to the World Health Organization, a shocking one-third of deaths from breast cancer could be decreased if detected and treated early. This means nearly 400,000 lives could be saved every year. This is an episode you won't want to miss and you'll definitely want to share with all of the girls in your life.

About our guest:
When Corrine Beaumont lost her grandmothers to breast cancer, she wanted to know what she should be doing for her breast health, but wasn’t able to find information that simply answered the basic questions. As a designer, she decided to do something about the lack of engaging information available. So she moved to London, got a PhD in patient communication and tested and refined the best ways to educate breast health information for a diverse audience. Later on when her close friend died from the disease, she left her job as a business professor, and started the charity with her own savings. In 2017, Corinne founded the Know Your Lemons Foundation, a global charity with a groundbreaking campaign teaching women all over the world the signs and symptoms of breast cancer in a unique and visual way.

Mood Food: How To Fight Depression Naturally with Nutrition with guest Karalynne Call EP16104 Oct 202200:47:31

Send us a text

Everyone has bad days, maybe even a string of bad days. Major depression is different. It’s like all color goes out of the rainbow. All oxygen goes out of the air. Everything is just… harder.

Mental health disorders are complex. So is the brain. And so are the foods we eat, and the ways our bodies interact with those foods. We’re still new to this game of figuring out exactly how the brain works, and exactly how nutrients may improve brain health. But, there are some very promising possibilities. Our brain is greedy. It needs a lot of energy to work properly and to create neurotransmitters - chemicals that send signals through the nervous system. Without enough energy or the right nutrients, our brain won’t get what it needs. In fact, one study suggests that eating a lot of nutrient-sparse processed foods could up our chances of becoming depressed by as much as 60 percent.

On today's episode, Cody visits with Karalynne Call, of Just Ingredients. Karalynne shares how she was able to fight depression naturally with nutrition.  She is a mom of six with a passion for better health and wellness within the home. She began her health journey nearly 15 years ago as she battled severe depression, and she has helped thousands of other people to begin their own health journey. She believes that nature provides the necessary nutrition in order for people to live healthy, happy lives full of energy. Her goal is to inspire others to make a change in their eating habits and daily product use, one ingredient at a time. Her personal story is inspiring and she's a wealth of knowledge.

PCOS & Food: What To Eat EP15920 Sep 202200:22:30

Send us a text

“What is the best diet for PCOS?” Is Paleo the best diet for PCOS? How about Low Carb? Keto? Vegan? Weight Watchers? Raw?”

PCOS is not an issue that can’t be solved by medication. Pharmaceuticals like metformin and the Pill can’t address root causes, but what you eat (and don’t eat) can. Eating the right types of food at the right times each month helps rebalance your reproductive hormones, stabilize insulin and blood sugar, and support your unique female biochemistry during each phase of your monthly menstrual cycle.

On today's episode, Cody shares everything we need to know about how we can use food to manage PCOS successfully. She answers the questions so many of us have about what foods  we should avoid and which foods we should focus on getting plenty of. What is the perfect diet for PCOS? Tune in and find out!

Period Mood Swings: Causes and Tips EP15813 Sep 202200:19:23

Send us a text

We all know how annoying it can be when our friends or family members accuse us of being moody around our periods. But what if there's the teensiest bit of truth to their words? Or maybe even a ton of truth?

As much as we may not want to admit it, period mood swings are a real pms symptom. That's why when we're approaching "Red Tide Week," we tend to become a little more on-edge than usual. Things that wouldn't normally be a big deal might suddenly set us off (often to our own surprise as well as the surprise of every other person in the vicinity).

If you're tired of feeling like your premenstrual mood swings are completely out of your control, you'll be happy to know there may be some things you can do to minimize them. Cody will share with us in this episode things we need to understand about why they're happening in the first place. Contrary to what your brother used to tell you, your monthly mood swings are probably not an indication of severe mental disorders; more likely, they're just a premenstrual symptom. They can, however, impact your quality of life and your relationships.

Sotune in and take a deep dive into what's causing your Mr. Hyde episodes and how you can take better control of your emotional symptoms each month.

How You've Been Taught Self-Defense Could Be All Wrong, Learn What Works! with Robyn Warner EP15706 Sep 202200:36:16

Send us a text

Have you ever gone to a self-defense class? Usually it's because we want to learn how to fight, in case we are ever in a situation where we are being attacked. We want to feel like we can take our attackers down and get away, if needed!

The options for fight training are plentiful: Thai boxing, Brazilian jiujitsu, and mixed martial arts, boxing, karate, and tae kwon do. These types of trainings are great, but it takes years to learn how to knock a gun from a mugger’s hand or fight off multiple assailants. Traditional self-defense tends to fall into one of two categories. The first is learning how to fight. The second is learning a list of rules that women are told to follow, most of which start with “never”: Never go out alone at night. Never drink at parties. Never wear revealing clothing. Never talk to strangers.

But what if the way we traditionally think of self-defense is wrong?

on todays episode, Cody visits with Robyn Warner. Robyn is known on her instagram as @aflyonmywall. She's fun, she's cute, and she's relatable with her down-to-earth friendly personality. But Robyn is also an expert on self defense and is passionate about helping women to be prepared, not scared.

Robyn is a survivor of a brutal sexual assault, she shares her story and the strategies that helped her to survive. This is an episode that needs to be listened to by all women. Share this episode with all the girls in your life, because this information can literally save lives.

Robyn offers a self-defense safety course called S.A.F.E. Its a course that can be taken online or in person. Robyn has offered you, our It's Hertime listeners, a 40% discount on her trainings. just use the code MIXHERS. Thanks Robyn!

6 Ways To Advocate For Yourself At The Doctor's Office EP15019 Jul 202200:34:13

Send us a text

Have you ever felt misunderstood or simply not heard at all by a doctor you pursued in an effort to feel better or find healing? Did you feel talked down to or less than, simply for raising concerns or asking questions? Have you ever been told that your Google search doesn’t trump their medical degree?

Trust-based patient-doctor relationships are the cornerstone of quality health care. Patients experience the best results when they are taken seriously and treated by a doctor they admire, respect, and who values them and their perspective. But as chronic illness has skyrocketed in recent years, the quality of care in the medical space has diminished greatly.

Still, this is no excuse for being bullied by someone in a white coat just because they have alphabet soup after their name. While this is not everyone’s experience, a growing number of people — women, especially — are experiencing medical gaslighting by their doctors, causing an overall and ominous distrust for the medical field.

On today's episode Cody shares her best tips to be your own best health advocate. She shares her own experiences as a patient and as a Health Practitioner, as well as some stories from YOU! If you’ve experienced being discounted, dismissed, or gaslit by your doctor, or if your concerns have been written off as “common,” “normal,” or “something everyone experiences,” you are not alone.

Top 5 Ways to Address Heavy Bleeding EP14514 Jun 202200:38:14

Send us a text

In case we needed one more example of how conventional medicine fails women in perimenopause, let’s take a moment to consider heavy bleeding…
Virtually every woman is going to experience at least occasional heavy bleeding during the perimenopause years; (and in this episode Cody discusses the real issues causing this problem and talk about the things we CAN do things to get relief and overcome this issue).

Things often heard from conventional doctors are something along the lines of:
 “Just buy heavier pads/tampons.”
“It’s not hurting your body to bleed so much; it’s ‘normal’ after all. So you can keep living your life.”
“Well, you can look forward to menopause and you won’t have to deal with it anymore!”

Can you see the thread running through these suggestions?

Deal with it.
It’ll end, so why should we try to fix it?
You’re a woman so you’re used to bleeding… it’s not that bad, right?

In this episode Cody is  here today to tell us all that we do NOT just have to suffer from heavy, painful periods in perimenopause. There’s a reason it’s happening, and there are natural, safe ways to get relief quickly!

If you have a broken arm, do you wait until it heals to do something to fix it?

 Of course not.

You get an x-ray, find the root cause of your pain, and make adjustments immediately.

In the same way, you shouldn’t just think, “this will end in a few years when I’m in menopause; so I’ll just deal with the pain.”

This episode is going to be your heavy bleeding “x-ray”—let’s dive into what’s causing this painful; disruptive symptom and (most importantly) how you can get relief!

The Best and Worst Breakfast Foods for Hormone Health EP25209 Jul 202400:37:18

Send us a text

There’s tons of research that shows that backs this up. A healthy breakfast sets the stage for hormone balance throughout the day, which is critical for women at all stages of life.

On today's episode, Cody goes into it all. She talks about how to choose a hormone-loving breakfast and how to avoid breakfasts that are not supportive of our hormonal health.

As is the case with most nutrition topics, we hear a lot of different opinions. Thoughts on breakfast, are no exception. Some say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Others say to skip or delay breakfast for intermittent fasting benefits.

Food companies promote quick, easy breakfasts like premade shakes, bars, and cereals. But as we'll get into, eating these types of meals as part of your daily diet can do more harm than good to your hormones.

Let’s get to the bottom of the breakfast debate and learn why switching up your breakfast routine might be the best thing you can do for your hormones!

Your Summer Hormone Travel Guide EP14331 May 202200:26:12

Send us a text

When we travel, our sleep schedule tends to go sideways. Healthy eating can feel difficult, if not impossible, in airports and train stations. We might skip the key supplements we usually take and crossing time zones can mess up your internal clock. Exercise becomes an afterthought and hydration often goes out the window… at which point constipation can become the norm. And when your GI tract is backed up, excess estrogen gets stuck in our system and wreaks a bunch of havoc.

Needless to say, all these shifts are hard on hormones. Actually, that’s an understatement. Sleep, food, supplements, hydration, exercise… these are THE things that keep our hormones working for us and not against us. When you have these lifestyle strategies locked down, you put an end to period problems like acne, bloating, PMS, severe cramps, heavy or irregular periods, hormonal migraines, and irritability and moodiness.

But when you travel and your hormone-supportive strategies get thrown off track, you can feel rotten quickly…and who wants to be bloated, moody, and covered in zits on summer vacation?!

For this week’s episode,Cody has  gathered her best strategies for for keeping your hormones healthy and happy when you’re traveling. A few small tweaks can keep you feeling great when you’re on the move. Tune in and follow the steps she shares and your hormone health won’t have to go out the window when you go on vacation.

Understanding The Power of Our Emotions to Help Us Heal with Ashleigh DiLello EP14224 May 202201:00:21

Send us a text

Did you know that our thoughts and emotions can affect our health?  Emotions that are freely experienced and expressed without judgment or attachment tend to flow fluidly without impacting our health. On the other hand, repressed emotions (especially fearful or negative ones) can zap mental energy, negatively affect the body, and lead to health problems, like hormonal imbalance, and actually keep us from truly healing.

Sometimes we can be doing "everything right" when it comes to healing, the main reason we do not heal is because we are motivated and driven by fear. Sadly, most people who eat healthy, move their bodies and make other positive lifestyle changes do it because they don't like themselves and/or their bodies (not because they do).

On today's episode, Cody invited Ashleigh DiLello to be her special guest. Together they dive into the power of our mindset and emotions and how we can put this power to good use. Ashleigh is a Mind Coach and creator of Bio Emotional Healing®, a process based in neuroscience that helps her clients rewire their subconscious mind. She teaches us how to disrupt our negative thought loop, calm our body and emotions , take control of your thoughts and get out of survival mode, so that we can heal and enjoy optimal health. Be ready to have your mind blown!

Odd Ways Our Menstrual Cycles and Mental Health Are Connected with guest Elizabeth Olson EP14117 May 202200:52:08

Send us a text

Because hormones have a hand in almost everything going on in our bodies, they also affect our brains and therefore, emotions. This is why hormones can directly influence our mental health, even if that change is just periodic and linked to our menstrual cycle.

Join Cody and Elizabeth as they talk about what hormones are up to during our cycle, so that we can better understand why we might be feeling a certain way. And while it won't give us the power to suddenly control how we're feeling all of the time, what they share today, can help us make sense of it.

Todays episode is a nice reminder to stop that inner critic giving us such a hard time, and to be kind to ourselves instead. With the right knowledge and self-care, we can turn meltdowns and angst into understanding and compassion.

Elizabeth and Cody discuss dealing with conditions like PMS, PMDD, ADHD, anxiety and depression and about how our hormones interplay with these existing conditions and how it all affects our mental health.

Also, they talk about how one of the best ways to make the most of our cycles and mood is to start tracking our cycle all month long. This tracking helps to uncover patterns and helps us to understand the language of our symptoms. This can help us to predict hormonal imbalance and emotional patterns throughout the month.

Check out Elizabeth's Period Tracker here.

Episode 106: How Undiagnosed ADHD Can Cause Anxiety and Depression was referenced in this episode and is a great way to learn more.

How to know if you are caffeine intolerant
How to know if you have a hormone imbalance and if it's connected to caffeine consumption

Say Goodbye To Hormonal Acne EP13719 Apr 202200:29:01

Send us a text

Did you know that hormonal acne, aka "adult" acne affect adults between the ages of 20 and 50? Hormonal acne affects both men and women, but the majority of cases occur in women, pregnant women  and women going through menopause.

Acne is the most common skin condition in the U.S. It affects nearly about 80% of the population during their lifetime. About 50% of women in their 20's and 25% of women in their 40's get hormonal acne.

Acne is caused by clogged pores. Hormonal acne develops when hormonal changes, like excess testosterone, increase the amount of oil your skin produces. This oil interacts with bacteria on the pores of your skin where hair grows (hair follicles) and results in acne.

On today's episode, Cody and Jess talk about Jess' personal hormonal acne story and how she learned how to heal hormonal acne by first taking steps to heal her hormonal system. She learned how to work with her body rather than fighting against it.

Listen in to learn what she did, how she did it and what a difference it has made in her overall health and life.

PCOS symptoms include irregular or heavy periods, acne, facial hair, scalp hair loss, increased belly fat, and increased levels of testosterone. It is also strongly correlated with infertility. Endometriosis, Painful Sex, and Other Taboo Topics with guest Lindsay Eager EP13505 Apr 202201:17:25

Send us a text

On today's episode Cody welcomes guest Lindsay Eager, a real life Mixhers customer and lover of Hertime.  For years of having doctors insist she just had “bad period cramps,” or implying that her pain was psychological. Shamed and stigmatized, Lindsay fought to figure out what was going on with her body and pushed against the ignorance of many doctors about women’s anatomy, because she learned that endometriosis was damaging more than just her own life.

Did you know that one in ten women have endometriosis and it takes an average of seven years before they receive an accurate diagnosis―or any relief from this incurable illness’ chronic pain?

You will love listening to Lindsay's candid revelations about her symptoms and how she was finally diagnosed. You will relate to her diet and wardrobe malfunctions, troubles with dating, marriage, sex, coping at work, struggling with infertility, going through the adoption process...all while her vagina just hurt all the time.

Luckily, Lindsay has found the light at the end of this very dark tunnel, you will be so happy to hear about where she is today and what has helped put her endometriosis into remission.

Emotional Vitality: How To Overcome Stress, Anxiety, Depression With Nutrition Expert Jared St. Clair EP25102 Jul 202401:09:26

Send us a text

Emotional Vitality is the Neuroscience of Wellness. What can we learn from the stories we tell ourselves and how they impact our subconscious mind and how they ultimately effect our physical health as well?

On today's episode, Cody has invited Jared St. Clair, host of Vitality Radio to dive into all of this. In this conversation we’ll learn how the language we use with ourselves determines whether we believe that we can or cannot do something, whether we will or will not heal and how to retrain our brain.

Jared St. Clair is an enthusiastic herbalist, natural supplement formulator, and Radio and podcast host. Jared began his career at the very young age of 7 as he shadowed his parents in their health store. By age 15, Jared was managing his parent’s store for them. Jared’s love for the family business and passion for the industry and helping customers eventually led him to purchase the store at 22.

Changing The Cycle: How To Help End Period Poverty with guest Kristin Andrus EP13428 Mar 202200:28:42

Send us a text

With 1 in 5 girls missing school due to lack of menstrual products1, period poverty is an important, yet often ignored, public health crisis. “Period poverty” refers to the problem many women are facing  of being unable to afford products such as pads, tampons, or liners to manage menstrual bleeding. In place of sanitary products, many girls are forced to use items like rags, paper towels, toilet paper, or cardboard. Others ration sanitary products by using them for extended amounts of time. Period poverty encompasses not only this lack of access to products, but also inadequate access to toilets, hand washing receptacles, and hygienic waste management.

Don't think this is happening only in third world countries, this is happening in our own communities. Period Poverty is occurring all around us. There is a lack of awareness because it's a "taboo topic", it's uncomfortable to talk about.

As you know, Jess and Cody started the It's Hertime Podcast to help change the conversation about periods and women's health. On today's episode they are delighted to invite another crusader, Kristin Andrus, to help educate and share what we as a community can do to help to end period poverty in our local communities.

Meet Kristin:

Kristin Andrus is a community champion who advocates for women, children, and refugees within and beyond Utah. She is also Chief Culture Officer to her husband and six children.

Kristin serves as a board member for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area and for UnDEfeated, an organization serving underprivileged youth and single mothers in Uganda. Nonprofits count on Kristin for her social media and marketing savvy as well as her supernatural ability to get stuff done.

With over 100,000 combined followers on 91,000 Instagram andfollowers, 12,000 YouTube, subscribers, and live cooking segments on Utah’s Studio 5, Kristin has built a platform for awareness and impact.

In November 2020, Kristin launched #SisterGoods, an Instagram campaign that raised $30,000 in its first week to supply menstrual care products to schools, shelters, and foster care facilities throughout Utah. #SisterGoods has since spread to more than 60 communities across the U.S.

"Menstrual products are a necessity, not a luxury" - Kristin Andrus

Why Fitness Isn't One Size Fits All with guest Amber Brueseke of Biceps After Babies EP13322 Mar 202200:41:17

Send us a text

There are certain ideas and ideals that are tied to what “healthy” actually means; we think that in order to be healthy, women need to be a certain weight, follow a certain diet, and hit certain fitness and wellness goals.

But those ideals can actually put unnecessary pressure on women. Thinking you need to live up to these strict, and often inaccurate, ideals in order to be “healthy” can take a toll, both mentally (in the form of anxiety or self-criticism) and physically (in the form of exhaustion or pushing things too hard).

The truth is, when it comes to women’s health, there’s no one-size-fits-all definition—and these persistent stereotypes of what “healthy” means might actually be preventing women from being their healthiest (and happiest!) selves.

On today's episode Cody, Jess and their amazing guest Amber Brueseke,  a well-known Fitness Trainer and owner of the account @biceps.after.babies on IG, talk about some of the most common stereotypes about women’s health—and paint a more realistic, accurate picture of what a healthy woman looks like. This is an episode you'll want to share with all of the girls in your life!

Something that Jess loves to relate to other women about is the powerful intuition that women have. Jess feels that Mixhers has been built off of a lot of gut instinct decisions and willingness to do hard things when you know it’s the right thing. What Jess loved to talk to Corinne, of Mint Arrow, about is exactly that… how has she grown a business based off of her willingness to make career changes, change her message and stay aligned with her heart. How has she felt the response has been from her audience when she chooses to remain truly authentic and how can we all remain close to our natural instincts? Listen to hear how Corinne has created an incredibly powerful audience and important message by sticking true to who she is!

8 Facts About the Pill You Didn’t Know: Deep Dive with Cody EP13001 Mar 202200:52:15

Send us a text

Most of us have been on hormonal birth control (aka the pill and hormonal IUD) at some point – in fact, there’s a statistic that 98% of women have taken it at least for a little while in their lifetime. Many of us take it for a long time – 5, 10, 15, and even 20+ years.

It is handed out as easily as candy at the doctor’s office and many women don’t really even think about it as a medication – it’s like it falls into its own bucket.

But it is for sure a medication – and it is designed to stop ovulation to prevent pregnancy. It’s also prescribed often as a “fix” for things like acne, PMS, heavy periods, and more. Which totally bugs us to no end!

Hopefully doctors prescribing it tell you the warnings – potential for blood clots and stroke – but too many times we’re told it’s those things are rare. So it almost feels like it’s this magic potion that can help solve so many problems women are faced with.

Really, though, is it?

Cody lays it all out for us in todays episode. She shares all about the untold secrets about hormonal birth control, about different forms of non-hormonal birth control and how to transition off of hormonal birth control in a healthy way.

Staying "Regular": Why It's So Important and How To Do It EP12922 Feb 202200:19:49

Send us a text

Today we’re talking all about poop! Nothing is TMI around here – and while this is an uncomfortable topic to talk about, it’s super important when it comes to your health. Constipation is a pretty regular problem, it’s something that is very uncomfortable, sometimes even miserable, it also can be problematic.

So why do Cody and Jess  want to talk about this? Our stool is where a lot of our toxins are released – in addition to hormones. If we are unable to have 1-3 bowel movements every day, then those toxins can actually get recycled back into the body. The more toxins we have in us, the more inflammation we can experience – which can lead to additional symptoms. These are wide-ranging from migraines to anxiety to brain fog to fatigue to hormonal imbalance (and PMS) and more.

Did you know that in 2020, more than 50 million women are going through menopause in the United States? And it’s estimated that one billion women around the world will be experiencing menopause globally by 2025. And while more than 75 percent of these women will experience symptoms for a decade or longer — issues like hot flashes, mood swings, difficulty concentrating, sleep problems, and loss of sex drive — 55 percent won’t do anything to try to alleviate them.

“My approach offers a simple, workable, and enjoyable way of alleviating symptoms during
perimenopause and beyond. It is based on sound, published scientific research. The
success rate astounds most clients.” Maryon Stewart BEM

In this episode:
• a deep dive into the role that diet plays on hormones and looks at how to detect and correct
nutritional deficiencies, which are the underlying cause of many menopausal symptoms.

• Learn about naturally occurring estrogen sources and well-researched supplements that
can help to turn off symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats.

• Tips on how to hone in on stress, sleep, putting sex back on the menu and future proofing health for the long term, lowering your risk for many life-disrupting (and often life-threatening) conditions, including heart disease, osteoporosis, estrogen-related cancers (such as breast cancer), memory loss, and dementia.

Anxiety And Your Period EP12601 Feb 202200:34:40

Send us a text

First things first. Mood changes, including feeling more anxious than normal, are super typical before your period. Basically, it all comes down to hormonal shifts that happen as part of our menstrual cycle.

Changes in hormones like estrogen and progesterone, which occur before our period, can have an effect on feel-good hormones like serotonin and dopamine. And that can trigger a flood of not-so-good feelings.

So why doesn’t everyone turn into a basket case before their period? First of all, pre-period mood changes can come in a bunch of different forms. Some women might be extra irritable while others feel inexplicably sad or angry. For others, the issue is anxiety.

Keep in mind, too, that some women are just less sensitive to hormone shifts than others. And the more sensitive you are, the more likely you might be to get hit with all the feels before your period.

Jess and Cody are diving into this topic on today's episode and sharing about the link between anxiety and periods, why anxiety might flare up before a period and how to manage period and pre-period anxiety.

Did you know that you may have been lied to when you were told that your lab work looks "normal"? There could be hidden gems in your labs that can reveal whether or not you have an infection or other deficiencies, and more.

On today's episode, Cody has invited guest, Dr. Patricia Schneider, who is an expert in holistic health and functional medicine, to share her insights and to empower us to take control of our health through carefully reading and understanding our bloodwork deeper.

Dr. Patricia's approach to health and wellness focuses on identifying the underlying causes of health issues, rather than merely treating symptoms. Through comprehensive assessments and detailed interpretations of bloodwork, she creates customized plans to address the root causes of health problems.
