You did everything you were supposed to do. The grades, the degree, the title, the raise. And you still pull into the parking lot some mornings with a knot in your stomach. I Hate My Job! Now What? is the podcast for high-achieving women who did everything right and still feel like something's off. Every episode, I get honest about what's going on, help you name what you actually want, then figure out how to go build it. A bold pivot, a role that doesn't exist yet, or a business of your own. I'm Sarah Decker. I blew up the script to build work I love, and now I help other women do the same.

How to Find Your Niche as a Service Provider: Know Your Strengths, Know What Clients Need, Say No to the Rest
Saison 2 · Épisode 3
jeudi 8 octobre 2026 • Durée 18:16
Sarah opens in September 2020, mid-pandemic. Fresh mascara, a brand-new ring light, and real nerves before a sales call. A few minutes in, the man on the other end explains he expects her to connect him with a list of employers ready to hire. She’s a coach. Not a headhunter. That call taught her to get very clear about what her business does and doesn’t do. Six years later, three of her business-coaching clients brought her the same question in one week: should I be offering this?
From there she walks through a simple framework for deciding what belongs in your service business, why saying no is so hard when you spent years playing by someone else’s rules, and why you’re allowed to keep changing your answers.
If a client keeps asking for something that isn’t yours to give, this one is for you.
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE AWAY
Why Sarah still offers a free 30-minute consultation, and who it protects
Why she won’t write your resume for you, and what that has to do with your next interview
The two questions every service business starts with: what are your superpowers, and what does the market need and pay for
Why the work you keep avoiding is useful information
How to spot scope creep, from bending over backwards for a sale to problem-solving for clients when it isn’t your job
Why your business is allowed to change as you do

YOUR REFLECTION QUESTIONS
These look simple on paper. They aren’t. Give yourself real time with them, and let your answers be different than they were five years ago.
What are you uniquely good at? What comes easily to you?
What work do you keep avoiding, even though you’re good at it?
What do your clients know they need, and what do you know they need?
Where are you saying yes right now to something that isn’t yours to do?

How to Know It’s Time to Quit Your Job and Start a Business: 4 Signs
Saison 2 · Épisode 2
jeudi 24 septembre 2026 • Durée 20:28
Nobody can promise you it’s going to work. Anyone who says they can is lying to you. But there are ways to know when an idea is ready for you to act on.
Sarah opens with hot coffee, a rare good night’s sleep, and a nod to everyone else who’s been awake from 3 to 5 a.m. lately. Then she goes back to the other kind of sleepless nights: the ones before her two biggest career leaps. Sixty-hour weeks for $45,000 a year in the career she got a master’s degree for. A trapeze hanging in the middle of the living room during the pandemic, and the phone call that became her first coaching client. From there she walks through the four signs she uses, for herself and her clients, to tell 3 a.m. worry from an idea that’s actually worth the leap.
The four signs:When you’re thinking about the idea (3 a.m. or on a walk)
Opportunities are showing up without a fight
Your energy
Your strengths are at the center of it
If there’s an idea that won’t leave you alone, this one is foryou.
WHAT YOU’LL TAKE AWAY
● Why the thinking you do at 3 a.m. is rarelythe thinking you should trust, and how to find the place where you can
● How to tell when doors are opening for an ideainstead of being pried open
● Where your first clients actually come from(hint: not strangers on the internet)
● What your energy is telling you, even if youdon’t want to start a business
● Why the best version of your idea puts yourstrengths at the center, not your hustle
● The one next step Sarah wants you to take withan idea that won’t go away

Burnout at Work: Why You Don’t Need to Work Harder to Matter More
Saison 1 · Épisode 7
vendredi 27 février 2026 • Durée 20:44
Burnout at work is affecting more professionals than ever, especially Gen Z and millennials who care deeply about their jobs but feel constantly overwhelmed and exhausted. In this episode of I Hate My Job! Now What?, Sarah explains why burnout isn’t a motivation problem and why working harderwon’t make you more valuable.
Instead, she challenges the culture of urgency, overwork, and constant responsiveness, and invites you to shift from measuring success by volume to measuring it by impact. Through real client patterns, research, and career stories, Sarah explores how burnout often shows up when capable people areoperating below their strategic level.
If you’re burned out, frustrated, or stuck in a cycle of doing more but feeling less effective, this episode offers a calmer, more sustainable way to think about work—and practical reflection questions to help you work differently.
Reflection Questions:
Is this a moment for full effort—or is good enough actually appropriate here? Before I say yes, what problem am I really being asked to solve?Who else should be involved to increase the impact of this work?If I’m irritated by this task, is it a signal that I need to reframe how I’m approaching it?
Checking In on Your Relationship With Your Career- A Quiz!
Saison 1 · Épisode 6
jeudi 12 février 2026 • Durée 18:10
What if you evaluated your career the same way you evaluate your relationships?
In this Valentine’s-themed episode, I invite you to take a simple four-question “quiz” to check in on your relationship with your work. We explore four common career patterns—including outgrowing a role, working in an unbalanced dynamic, going through the motions, and the on-again, off-again relationship so many people recognize.
This isn’t a “quit your job” episode—it’s an honest, compassionate check-in designed to help you notice patterns, feel less alone, and reflect on what you want next, at your own pace.
Quiz:1. How stretched do I feel in my current role — intellectually, creatively, or professionally?
2. How trusted do I feel where I work?
3. How energized do I feel by my work most days?
4. How often does the question, ‘Is this still right?’ come up for me?
