| 202: Sarah's Soundbite: Authenticity in a World That Demands Perfection | 28 Jul 2026 | 00:10:08 | |
What does it really mean to be authentic? In this first Sarah's Soundbite since relaunching the Harnessing Happiness Podcast, Sarah explores why authenticity matters more than ever in a world full of social media, AI, expectations and constant noise. Drawing on her own journey through business, personal reinvention and coaching, Sarah shares why happiness doesn't come from trying to become the person you think you should be—but from rediscovering who you already are. From running through Norfolk woodland to restoring old furniture, from coaching clients through major life transitions to embracing life's imperfections, this episode is an invitation to pause, reconnect and ask yourself one simple question:
Whether you're navigating a career change, questioning your direction, rebuilding after life's challenges or simply feeling disconnected from yourself, this episode offers gentle encouragement to stop performing and start living as the real you.

| 102: Manifesting a Career in Film aka Connections, Intentions, Focus and Synchronicity - Sarah chats to Luke Formosa | 04 Oct 2022 | 00:34:00 | |
Harnessing Happiness with Sarah J Naylor is an upbeat, energetic, and inspiring podcast filled with joy and laughter, wisdom, philosophies, and positive psychology. Tune in and be inspired by Luke’s story. One that saw him leave university somewhat deflated as he quickly discovered the career that he’d been told he could pretty much walk into after graduating wasn’t happening, despite applying for opportunities in the film industry where he wanted to start work. As you will discover his journey took him from stacking shelves in Tesco to seizing a ‘exciting’ career opportunity that didn’t match up to the one he was sold!! Although he does realise now how the experience played its part synchronously and ultimately saw him making a contact which led him to make further connections that enabled him to manifest his 5-year plan in less than a year. One of running his own business in his own studio space. Luke was always clear on what he wanted to do it was that belief and focus that made it manifest so much sooner than he could ever believe for which he is incredibly appreciative. Together they also discuss the other challenges Luke has had to embrace, and overcome, in his late diagnosis of neurodiversity: ADHD, dyslexia and dyspraxia. A great episode during which Sarah also discusses elements of her personality that she is beginning to wonder might be partially ADHD related too. Sarah is naturally engaging, her energy infectious, and whether she is sharing her musings and ramblings about life in general, or having insightful discussions with her guests, as you tune in and listen, your energy levels will rise, a smile will spread across your face as your inner happiness is harnessed. As their chat evolves you will discover how, following a cancer scare / having part of her colon removed, Lis, then aged 40, divorced her husband of 18 years and started going to soul clubs with her friend. She explains how she then met the ‘lovely Conrad’ in 1993 who she has been with ever since - 29 years. Which may not sound unusual however, as Lis explains, on paper; socially, educationally, and ethnically, they ‘shouldn’t’ be together. As Lis goes on to state though - love knows no boundaries. She was born in 1952 as was a single child to older parents in effectively white middle class Britain whilst Conrad, who is of Jamaican descent, was born in 1964 into a large family, raised by his grandparents, lived in various flats growing up, and, due to dyslexia left school without any qualifications. Lis shares so much more about her life, how she moved out of teaching into photography with Conrad’s support, and then into writing and mentoring other authors, and includes the two of them writing their autobiography, Mixed Feelings, which can be found along with other books by Lis on Amazon. This truly is an episode of so many parts, incorporating as it does, a fab love story, career changes and happiness. Go on, you know you want to listen! | 088: Successfully Celebrating the Fine Art of Failing - Sarah chats to Jamie McAnsh | 16 Aug 2022 | 00:35:36
Harnessing Happiness with Sarah J Naylor is an upbeat, energetic, and inspiring podcast filled with joy and laughter, wisdom, philosophies, and positive psychology. During this fab episode you will meet the incredibly inspiring and uplifting Jamie McAnsh, co-founder of See No Bounds, motivational speaker, TEDx speaker, entrepreneur role model, and adaptive athlete As you will discover during this empowering and insightful episode Jamie woke up in 2014 paralysed from the waist down and started a journey of discovery learning the key skills of strength and resilience on his journey to recovery. Jamie and Charlott McAnsh, his wife, (you can listen to an earlier episode with Charlott here https://www.podbean.com/ew/pb-suew6-1250927) have a passion to see people succeed no matter what the circumstances. Jamie opens by stating that he was the guy who left school with nothing and the information from his Maths teacher that the only numbers he would ever make up were those on the Benefits queue and his English teacher told him that he had no concept of the English language! Jamie touches briefly on his time in the British Army as a Royal Engineer, but unlike the many stories you may have heard in the past doesn’t reference the camaraderie as the lessons that he learned. He talks about the strength that he found in their motto, Adapt & Overcome, which you will quickly realise has been the backbone to his success, in addition to his failed suicide attempt due to his ongoing battle with CRPS, Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (read more about that here - https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/complex-regional-pain-syndrome/ ) Jamie talks about his battles and shares all that he has achieved since waking up in 2014 paralyzed from the waist down – his is quite a phenomenal story, and one that has seen him achieve so much. During his journey to recovery, as you will find out as you listen to his powerful message, he was constantly told that he ‘can’t’ and he’s proved everyone wrong with the strength of his mind and his focus on the positive. He now tells people to listen to those who tell you that you can and not those who tell you that you can’t. But even more so to believe in yourself – you can!! In fact, the opening statement on his own website pretty much sums it up: “Jamie McAnsh is an inspirational and motivational speaker with a story like no other. | 060: Lots of Laughter, Career Insights & More with Harnessing Happiness Podcast Producer Pete - Sarah chats to Pete Allen | 10 May 2022 | 00:36:24
Harnessing Happiness with Sarah J Naylor is an upbeat, energetic, and inspiring podcast filled with joy and laughter, wisdom, philosophies, and positive psychology. During this upbeat episode you will get to meet Pete Allen, founder of Carrot Cruncher Media and the fab producer of Harnessing Happiness (he didn’t write this section – honestly!) and you will get to know more about him, his passions, love for production and creating great content for his ever-growing client base. Pete shares details of his life / career to date, that has included 25 years working as a radio presenter and producer, and how although his first love was production he was ‘shoved’ into presenting radio shows instead due to his naturally upbeat personality and great sense of humour. NB / repeat note, Pete didn’t write this section, or pay for it to be written, honestly! That was until a few short years ago when the local breakfast show he was presenting for Capital FM disappeared, due to its centralisation in London where it is now hosted by Roman Kemp, and Pete took the opportunity to return to his first love of producing quality content instead. This also enabled him to be himself, and, as you will discover, that involves talking about garden centres, cats and nana naps instead of the latest music trends! Passionate as he is about podcasts, Pete talks about the personal development journey he has enjoyed indirectly whilst working on the episodes that he produces, not only for Sarah, but his other amazing clients too, as he listens so closely to the conversations between hosts and guests and monologues too. Together they laugh and banter their way through this lively episode which will without a doubt leave you on a high. Tune in today or download for tomorrow and join in the fun and laughter and have some aha moments along the way!
