It’s not uncommon to feel as though a job interview is an interrogation and that your entire life is on display for the interviewer to pick apart. But an interview is actually a two-way conversation. And while it’s important to prepare for the questions you may get, Find Your Dream Job guest Rachel Beohm says it’s also crucial that you walk into the room with confidence and the knowledge that you belong there. Rachel shares how eye contact, positive body language, and knowing your value before you walk into the interview can help you to come across more confidently.

About Our Guest:

Rachel Beohm is an executive coach and speaker who specializes in nonverbal communication and personal presence. She trains executives, HR professionals, speakers, and job seekers to present themselves powerfully through the use of nonverbal communication skills so they can achieve their goals, and helps her clients face difficult or scary situations, such as public speaking, negotiation, and job interviews, with confidence and power.

Stop Saying “I Can Do Anything,” with Shannon Bloom

Épisode 542

mercredi 11 mars 2026Durée 22:11

Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=16679&preview=true

When someone asks what you want in your next job, it can feel safer to say, “I can do anything.” But that answer can make it harder for employers and people in your network to understand where you fit. Career and leadership coach Shannon Bloom explains why a broad message can slow your search and make it harder to stand out compared to candidates with a clear goal. She shares how to identify your strengths, values, and impact so you can show what makes you distinct and back it up with clear examples.

She recommends writing down your accomplishments, asking colleagues for feedback, and looking into roles that fit your skills and interests. Relationships play a big part in the job search, since many positions come through referrals and conversations. When you’re clear about what you want and what you offer, it’s much easier for people to point you toward opportunities that match your goals.

About Our Guest:

  • Shannon Bloom is a certified leadership, career, and executive coach. Shannon’s company – Radiant Firefly – helps you shift your mindset, get clear on what you want, and bring it to life.

It’s normal to want to show up as your best self in a job interview; after all, you want the hiring manager to like you and want to hire you. However, there’s a difference between being your true best self and being someone you’re not. Find Your Dream Job guest Courtney Ulwelling says there are three things you need to do to show up as your authentic self in an interview. First, prepare, but don’t go in and recite a bunch of facts you read on their website. Second, wear professional clothes that make you feel comfortable. And finally, pay attention. Listen to their questions and be ready with questions of your own.

According to Find Your Dream Job guest Kyle Kavas, you start by asking yourself 3 questions- do you like your job? Do you like your coworkers? Do you align with the company and its values? You Got This: What to Do Before a Job Interview, with Michael Buck

mercredi 29 mai 2024Durée 22:48

Check out the podcast on Macslist here: (https://www.macslist.org/?post_type=podcasts&p=15060&preview=true)

Job interviews aren’t something we tend to do regularly, so it’s normal to be nervous going into one. According to Find Your Dream Job guest Michael Buck, preparation is key because hiring managers can tell who’s done their homework. Begin by studying the job description and getting a handle on the specific duties it requires. Michael adds that because the hiring process can be so stressful, you need to be sure to practice adequate self-care before, during, and after any interviews. Finally, prepare a list of questions for the panel. A candidate with zero questions appears to have little to no interest in the job.

Michael Buck is a recruiter and a human resources manager with deep roots in the nonprofit sector.
