Rob’s flying solo this week and it’s a full-tilt sporting diary as he throws himself headfirst into the glorious chaos of the Winter Olympics in Milano Cortina… from the comfort of his sofa (mostly).
It all started pre-tournament for Britain’s Curlers last Wednesday, before the week snowballs into opening ceremony splendour, men’s and women’s downhill drama, that terrifying Lindsey Vonn crash and the heart-in-mouth heli-ambulance evacuation, women’s Big Air, Ice Dancing in the team event, and huge excitement as Jenn and Bruce battle their way into the semi-finals of the Mixed Doubles Curling.
Somewhere along the way, things get a bit… real. The action ramps up, the FOMO kicks in, and Rob finds himself making a very impulsive, very last-minute decision that might just involve heading out to the mountains himself. He sets off tomorrow. Or does he?
And because one sport-fuelled week apparently isn’t enough, Rob also squeezes in Leeds United v Nottingham Forest, catches the start of the Super Bowl, and continues his budding love affair with the Broncos with a trip to the Challenge Cup clash against the Bradford Bulls.
It’s a rambling, joyful, slightly unhinged celebration of elite sport, emotional investment, and the dangerous idea that watching too much sport can lead to international travel.

Rob arrives at the Clubhouse to find Jack deep in guitar practice for an upcoming audition! 

As the Rugby Union World Cup continues, they relive Rob’s participation at the annual ‘Touch My Brum’ inclusive Touch Rugby tournament in July, with his team the Clapham Feelers. We follow the Feelers three teams as they journey through the tournament. The  Diamonds go all out to defend their title, the Emeralds aim to go one better than the semi’s last year and the Rubies go all out to prove their potential, but who will take the Crown!

Rob meets players and staff from other competing LGBTQI+ Touch teams from across the country including Manchester Village Spartans, Reading Renegades and the hosts, Birmingham Bulls RFC, David Cumpston.

This week we welcome Welsh BBC Broadcasting legend, Jason Mohammad, to Stage Door Athletic. The ‘Final Score’ and ‘Match of the Day’ Anchor brings his infectious energy, enthusiasm and passion for all things sport as we hope he will to his new role as the clubs Press Officer.

We talk growing up in a Cardiff council estate; fighting - literally, his way through the ranks of local sport and up the BBC Broadcasting ladder; his wonder goal at the Cardiff City Stadium; his ‘love’ of Leeds; the adrenaline of going live sat next to Garth Crooks et al; spats with Robbie Savage; and he takes on Rob in a Welsh themed quiz.
