Episode 16: Understanding Children’s Burns

Show Notes:

At just 15-months old, Michelle’s son Charlie pulled a pan of boiling water over himself at their family home and sustained burns to 10% of his body.

This episode tells the story of Charlie’s accident, treatment and recovery. You will hear details of Charlie’s burns injuries and of his mum Michelle’s guilt because of the accident. You will also hear from Sue from Children’s Burns Trust who talks about what happens if your child arrives at A&E with a skin burn and some of the different treatment paths available.

This is not an easy listen but it is ultimately a story of hope and recovery. Charlie is now a normal, thriving teenager, but the consequences of his accident, and he and his family’s journey of healing, continue to this day.

Awareness is key to prevention and we thank Michelle for her bravery and openness in talking about Charlie’s accident.

Episode 15: Pelvic Floor Health

Saison 2 · Épisode 15

mardi 12 décembre 2023Durée 33:01

“Women are literally standing on the sidelines of their own lives”

Dragging. Bulging. Heaviness. Sciatica. Groin pain. Hip pain. Trouble going to the toilet, as well as trouble holding it in. All these are signs of a problem with your pelvic floor health. In fact, a whopping 50% of women report pelvic health concerns, with many more suffering in silence.

This week, Kate talks to Claire Sparrow, an expert in this field. Claire tells a story of hope and inspiration, and encourages women not to just accept pelvic floor problems such as prolapse and incontinence. She also tells us why squeezing is most definitely not the answer, and may actually make incontinence worse!

This is not just an issue for women after childbirth, this can affect all women at any time. This is a must listen for anyone living with pelvic health problems.
