Generating Inbound Leads with Video with Chris van Praag07 Jul 202100:45:53

In his book Endless Referrals, author Bob Burg wrote... “All things being equal, people do business with, and refer business to people they know, like and trust.”  Now, sure Bob might never have heard of the term Inbound Marketing, a phrase coined much later by Sales and Automation Company Hubspot but it’s this concept that is at the heart of what I believe fuels good marketing and business today.

So what role does video play in building the know, like and trust factor in marketing… and how can business owners generate Inbound leads using video?  We explore this, and more in today’s interview.

Chris van Praag is a sales consultant for top global HubSpot partner BabelQuest. He uses the power of video to build a personal brand, grow his network and generate a steady flow of inbound leads with creative content that gets people talking.

As a creative person, Chris loves blending his role with fun creative ideas to sell, validate his knowledge and demonstrate his personality.  As a result, he had some amazing opportunities (this conversation being one of them) to make connections, build his brand and open up conversations.

How to Produce Funny Sales Videos with Joseph Wilkins04 May 202100:46:20

I’m sure we all recognise the power in humour when it comes to engaging people through video but if you’re like me, the idea of trying to be funny in a corporate video makes me cringe, as I know that although it’s incredibly powerful it’s also incredibly hard to get right.

But getting this balance between humour and sales right is exactly what my guest today has achieved, and he’s built his company off the back of it.

My guest today is Joseph Wilkins - Founder of Funny Sales Videos.com and Host of the podcast How to Make a Video Go Viral.

Joseph Wilkins founded ProCreative Studios in 2000, an agency that produced infomercials, TV commercials and web sales videos. Joseph directed thousands of videos for clients including Google, Linkedin, McDonalds, Goldman Sachs, Chevrolet & Home Depot.

As viewing habits shifted away from TV, Joseph launched FunnySalesVideos.com where his team now creates attention-grabbing "viral style" sales videos that entertain viewers into action.

With two decades experience, hundreds of millions of broadcast and online views and over $50 MILLION in tracked sales attributed to his content… Joseph clearly knows the secret to Funny Sales Videos and so I wanted to bring him on the show for you today.

Mastering Measurement Marketing with Mercer13 Apr 202100:52:25

How are you dealing with the data available around your video strategy? Is it a case of every now and then just opening your analytics trunk, poke around a bit, and then close it back up again? Or do you get overwhelmed by it all, and metaphorically sweep it under a rug? Or perhaps you’re handpicking a few bits of data that you can make sense of, and simply letting the rest pass you by?

The fact is that understanding the data, and setting things up to effectively measure and interpret that data can be your video marketing secret weapon. So this is an episode you won’t want to miss.

Chris “Mercer” Mercer, co-founder of MeasurementMarketing.io, is a sought after measurement marketing expert and has been helping marketers, marketing teams, and agencies, plan out what’s important to measure in their marketing, build measurement systems (using Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), create actionable dashboard reports, and finally use those reports to forecast and optimize their marketing results.

The Value of Video Strategy with Fiorella Cunha16 Mar 202100:33:29

What value does video strategy actually bring to the table? For a business choosing to work with a video company to produce their videos, how does the conversation change when the focus is on strategy first?

In today’s interview we’ll be exploring just that.

My guest today is a video strategist (and an awesome student of the Online Video Strategy Blueprint Program) who together with her husband run their own video production and strategy company based in Canada.

Fiorella Cunha is Co-founder & Video Strategist at Storia Photo Video.  Where her main role is working with business owners in designing an effective video strategy which forms the foundation for all other aspects of video production and distribution.   She also manages client accounts, production schedules and works to acquire and build new client relationships.

A Ryerson graduate with 22+ years of experience as a business owner, and 12 years of experience in the corporate universe prior to that, Fiorella is no stranger to the world of business, public relations, and the importance of constantly growing your client base and capturing your target audience in tailored and engaging ways. Storia’s focus today remains the client; and creating, producing, and distributing video content for businesses to help them leverage the power of video marketing.

The Pivot to Strategy with Joshua King09 Mar 202100:49:36

As video producers I think it’s so important for us to realise that our clients don’t actually want a video. What they really want is the results that the right video used in the right way will get for their business.

You wouldn’t board a train if there are no tracks laid, right? Or if the tracks were heading in the wrong direction!

The purpose of the train to get you to a destination. The train… just like a video is a vehicle to achieve a desired outcome.

My guest today is a video producer who understands the importance of this wholeheartedly… and it was this realisation that kicked off his own journey from video producer to video strategist which we’ll be exploring in today’s episode.

Josh got his start in video as a photographer for a local news station in Virginia. After studying journalism and international relations at university, he began a career in marketing and rediscovered his love for video. Today he serves as the communications director for a large church in Tallahassee, Florida, where he regularly uses the unique storytelling power of video. He also operates his own company, Joshua King Media, where he helps businesses plan the video they need to get the results they want. He also hosts his own podcast, The Video Strategist, where he shares advice and best practices for growing your business with video.

Death to the Corporate Video with Guy Bauer01 Mar 202100:38:57

In this episode we’re going to be talking about corporate videos and the stigma wrapped around it. Are you really resigned to the idea that your videos will be talking heads and b-roll, stock music and a couple of carefully placed slow motion footsteps down a corridor?

Do all corporate videos basically fit the same mold?

My guest today is Guy Bauer, Founder and Creative Director of Umault, an agency that makes wildly creative B2B video marketing campaigns people actually want to watch.

Guy has been making commercial videos for over 20 years and is the author of Death to the Corporate Video: A Modern Approach that Works. He started the agency in 2010 after a decade of working in TV, film, and radio. Umault’s goal is to make sure an amazing product or service stands out in a sea of mediocre content. Guy believes that in video marketing, the idea is everything and his fleet of creatives and producers excels at shepherding an idea through the entire process, from concepting to scripting through to delivery of the final videos. When he isn’t helping his clients tell a story that resonates and delights while hitting all of their key messages and business prompts, Guy enjoys spending time at his home in Chicago with his two young children and kicking himself for being a Cincinnati Bengals fan.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 7) Production22 Feb 202100:15:56

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 7 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to be talking about the final element for an effective online video strategy  which is… production.

The final element to consider as part of an effective online video strategy is the actual production of the content.  As a video producer, it may surprise you to hear me say that this really should be the last thing to consider when defining how online video content can best reach a market and achieve a goal for a business. Too often video producers, (and often the business owners as well) get hung up on aspects of production such as which cameras or software to use, where to film content or whether to use a green screen or not. What should be done, however, is to first define the audience, goals, the content plan, the distribution and promotion strategy, how is success going to be measured and then (and only then) it should be discussed how you are actually going to film and edit the desired content.

Why we're starting a video podcast in 2024... should you? with Ben Amos07 Dec 202300:22:01

In this episode, Ben Amos explains why he has launched a brand new video podcast for his video production business. He discusses the changing landscape of podcast and video marketing, emphasising the importance of quality content over quantity. Ben also highlights the rise of both long-form and short-form content and the growing popularity of podcasting as a format. He shares his goals for the video podcast, which include building relationships with high-value business guests and establishing expertise and trust. Ben discusses the workflow and tools used for podcast production and the benefits of a seasonal approach to podcasting.

Takeaways

  • Quality content is key in the changing landscape of podcast and video marketing.
  • Both long-form and short-form content are on the rise, and platforms are favoring high-value content.
  • Podcasting is a growing format, offering opportunities to cut through the competition.
  • Building relationships, adding value, and establishing expertise are important goals for a video podcast.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 6) Metrics19 Feb 202100:14:12

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 6 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to be talking about the sixth element for an effective online video strategy  which is… metrics.

The only real way to gauge the success or effectiveness of an online video strategy is to measure it. This is where the real power of digital marketing becomes evident. As opposed to traditional (offline) marketing, online marketing provides access to masses of information, data and reports that allow extremely detailed insight into what activity is happening around the online video content. The critical part of defining a strategy however is in identifying which metrics actually matter.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 5) Optimisation16 Feb 202100:12:34

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 5 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to be talking about the fifth element for an effective online video strategy  which is… optimisation.

Optimisation of video content is the process of ensuring that the content is found and engaged with online, and with over 500 hours of new video content being uploaded to YouTube alone every 60 seconds, being found is often the hardest part to building an effective strategy. At this point I must stress that optimisation is not the most important factor to consider to ensure that videos are getting watched, a distribution strategy will be much more effective at driving content engagement than any search engine optimisation ever will. That said, without the right optimisation strategies applied to your client’s video content they’ll be missing out on any possibility of benefit that their content strategy will bring to their brand’s overall digital footprint.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 4) Distribution12 Feb 202100:14:53

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 4 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to be talking about the fourth element for an effective online video strategy  which is… distribution.

Without distribution of your video content, your strategy will, quite simply, reach no one. Distribution strategy, however, is not simply a matter of deciding which platforms to host your videos on, or where to embed them on a website. To develop a more strategic understanding of the possibilities of content distribution we need to consider certain aspects.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 3) Content09 Feb 202100:10:38

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 3 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to be talking about the third element for an effective online video strategy  which is… content.

This is where you need to start brainstorming ideas for the actual pieces of video content that are going to be created within the strategy. With a strategy first perspective you’ll have a greater understanding of not only what to make the videos about but also what style of videos will best suit the strategy.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 2) Goals04 Feb 202100:12:10

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast I’m sharing Part 2 of my special 7-part mini series called Video Strategy 101. We’re going to unpack the second element essential to a video marketing strategy which is… goals.

Without defining goals for a video strategy, you really have no chance of achieving success. In fact, without clear goals in place you really have no idea of what success actually is for your strategy or your clients’.

Video Strategy 101 (Part 1) Audience02 Feb 202100:15:30

How to Create a Lead Generation Machine for Your Business with Tim Jarvis07 Dec 202000:54:00

In this episode of the Engage Video Marketing Podcast we’ll be exploring the idea of having a lead generation machine working for your business. A system for your marketing and sales and building a sustainable business with the right clients coming to you.

My guest today is Tim Jarvis from UK based Film & Content.

Tim has 15 years of experience working within the world of video marketing - both on the production and marketing side of the industry.

Back in 2010, after heading-up the digital marketing for a professional sports club in the UK, Tim decided the time was right to start his own business.

From his grandmother's spare bedroom, he started a video production company that - in the space of 7 years - grew to employing 35 full time members of staff and working with many of the world's leading brands including Estee Lauder, Honda, the International Olympic Committee, many Sporting Governing Bodies, several of the UK's Government Departments and hundreds of other blue chips.

Today, Tim consults with and implements video marketing strategies for some of the world's biggest companies ranging from Premier League Football (Soccer) Clubs, to one of the Big 4 Accountancy Firms, to the world's leading energy provider.

But his passion for sales and marketing - and experience within the production world - has allowed him to build RETAIN™, where he teaches video production professionals around the world to develop and execute simple, but powerful, sales and marketing strategies that attract highly profitable contracts and, most importantly, converts them on to long-term contracts, or retainers.

Tim has seen too many talented production professionals struggle with the project-by-project business model that plagues the video industry.

His work within RETAIN, his courses and his free training is all centred around his goal of relieving stress from the world of video production professionals.

Stress that he has felt first-hand and seen so many within the industry face on a daily basis.  But stress that can so easily be avoided.

Outside of work, Tim is married to his wonderful wife, Zoe, and has three children; Corey, Orlaith and Lacey.  They live on the south coast of the UK in Brighton & Hove.  He loves his sport - particularly Cricket, Football (Soccer) and Golf.

How I Steer My Clients To Video Strategy with Ben Amos09 Nov 202300:14:01

Today in this episode of the podcast, we’ll be unpacking one of the common things that I often hear from early stage video strategists, particularly when they've established a reputation as a video producer. So if this is you, this is gonna be super valuable for you as well.

The thing that I often hear time and time again is the idea that I've built my business around producing video content for clients. They come to me to make, to get the videos made that I've been known to make and in the style that I'm known to make them. And I understand the value of helping our clients develop a better strategy behind their content, better execute their content so that the content that I produce actually gets results. But they say to me, how do I transition the conversation with my clients to be more around strategy first rather than them just coming to me for video? Well, whatever that conversation looks like for you, I'm sure it's probably a conversation you've either had or you've experienced before or maybe you feel that you will have in the future. So what I want to do in this episode is share with you some ideas that I have and that I've executed and that have worked for me in order to really smoothly and take control of that conversation and smoothly move people towards thinking about strategy and thinking about you and the value that you can provide their business as a video strategist.
