“The ocean is more a part of me than the land” - Pip Hare

Saison 1 · Épisode 13

mercredi 24 août 2022Durée 39:05

This week on the Blue Earth Podcast, we hear from British yachtswoman, journalist and sailing instructor Pip Hare.

Pip grew up in a landlocked county in the UK but after getting a taste of sailing as a teenager she decided she would make it her career, whatever it took. Pip says as a young woman in a male-dominated sport it was a constant battle for opportunities. She says despite being only the 8th woman in history to complete the Vendée Globe round-the-world yacht race, the biggest mountain she had to climb was getting to the start line.

In a raw moment of honesty, Pip also opens up to host Laura Nesbitt about her decision not to have a family, and shares what drives her to protect our precious oceans.

If you were around in the mid 90’s you might recognise his voice as the presenter of TV Show Board Stupid which was all about snowboarding. Since then, Phil has worked with some of the biggest outdoor brands in the world to shape the way they reflect our society.

Why greenwashing is getting harder to spot - Joss Ford

Saison 2 · Épisode 8

jeudi 14 juillet 2022Durée 35:33

This week’s guest is Joss Ford, the founder of Enviral, a sustainability communications company and consultancy. Joss and his team help brands create, communicate and consult their social and environmental stories. He’s also a proud Blue Earth Summit Ambassador.

He tells host Laura Nesbitt that he believes big brands have the power to make mass change when it comes to sustainability. But he says businesses need to be open and transparent about their own failings too.

Joss talks passionately about how communication and marketing should be used as a tool to connect hearts and minds to a narrative that’s been heavily polluted and why he believes big business is the best vehicle to make mass change happen quickly.
