Two Gen X dads who grew up on a steady diet of Saturday morning cartoons, unsupervised bike rides, and the relentless torment of siblings. Now? They're navigating a world of gluten-free snack packs, 16 different streaming services, and the daily challenge of not getting canceled by their own teenagers.
They don’t understand TikTok. They barely understand women. But dammit—they tried. And somehow, they raised smart, empathetic kids who may or may not think they're total dorks. With a little comedy, a little sass, and a whole lot of sarcasm,
James and Dawson reminisce about the world that was, try to make sense of the world that is, and gently roast themselves—and each other—along the way.

mardi 3 juin 2025 • Durée 01:00:53
Join Us In this episode, James and Dawson discuss how discipline has changed over the decades, what we learned, our failures, our succusses and how the "LACK OF" is effecting the current youth. They break down the different types of parenting and which is the best and which one is more detrimental to youth.
Types of Discipline
Authoritative - This is the ideal type of parenting - Solves problems together with child, sets clear rules and expectations, open communication and natural consequences. - Child is more grounded to the way of the world, problem solves, more independent, follows rules and respectful to others.
Authoritarian - MY way or the highway - Parent Driven, Sets STRICT rules and punishment, One-way communication with little consideration of child's social, emotion and behavioral needs. -Child tends to be more rebellious, loses self, and often feels like they cant ever do anything right.
Permissive - Barely a parent more of a friend - Child driven, Rarely gives or enforces rules, overindulges child to avoid conflict - Child is disrespectful towards adults and authority, often craves discipline and structure, tends to be a bully, identity issues, struggles to work with others.
Neglectful - Worst type - Uninvolved or absent parent, provides little nurturance or guidance, indifferent to child's social - emotional and behavioral needs. Child feels unloved or wanted, more withdrawn, lacks social skills for coping, complete disrespect for others.
