Doctor Who - The Anniversary Specials | Dimensions in Time

In their look back at Doctor Who anniversary specials of years gone by, Phil and Scott have now reached the 30th Anniversary of the show with Dimensions in Time. This 1993 tie into the BBC's annual charity fundraiser Children in Need, sees the Rani attempt to capture all the incarnations of the Doctor for reasons unclear on the set of the BBC soap opera Eastenders. Cue pointless 3D, unconnected scenes cobbled together as a story and an awful early 90's techno rendition of the Doctor Who theme tune.

But after Phil explains to Scott the reasons for the actors doing this for no money and Scott trying to pronounce Keff McCulloch, did either of them find any redeeming features amongst this disappointing mess?

Review - The Mind Robber

In "The Mind Robber," the TARDIS is forced off course into a dimension of fiction. The Doctor (played by Patrick Troughton) and his companions, Jamie and Zoe, find themselves in a mysterious white void. They encounter various fictional characters and creatures from different literary works, including Medusa, Rapunzel and Gulliver and discover they all being manipulated by The Master (not that one).

Yes, come and join Phil and Paul in the Land of Fancy, er... I mean Fiction where all things are possible if the budget allows it. Our intrepid reviewing duo tackle the televised and written formats of this story and while they find a few minor differences, what did this story really add up to? Doctor Who - The Anniversary Specials | Silver Nemesis

In this story celebrating the 25th anniversary of Doctor Who, the Doctor and Ace face off against the Doctors old enemies the Cybermen (complete with a shiny chrome overhaul), a group of Neo Nazi's fronted by Anton Diffring (who looks like he would rather be somewhere else) and an old enemy of the Doctors, Lady Peinforte, who are all after an ancient Timelord weapon made of living metal.

Scott and Phil sit down on a sweltering September evening and chewed the fat over this disappointing celebratory story that features scenes that end abruptly, a flimsy bow from Woolworths and has the dubious honour of making the Cybermen totally useless and defeating them with chocolate coins is the order of the day.
