How a U.S. Soldier Became A Flight Attendant with Keturah Johnson from the Association of Flight Attendants

Season 1 · Episode 18

mardi 11 novembre 2025Duration 49:50

In this special Veterans Day episode, we sit down with the incomparable Keturah Johnson—combat veteran, flight attendant, and International Vice President of AFA-CWA. As the first queer woman of color and veteran elected to serve in this powerful union role, Keturah shares her extraordinary journey from the tarmac to the battlefield to the picket lines. She opens up about her military service during “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” her fierce advocacy for trans rights, and the fight for visibility and equity in aviation.

This conversation is full of heart, truth, and power. We dive into what it means to wear the uniform—both in the military and in the skies—as a queer person of color, and how union activism is helping change the future of the flight attendant profession. Keturah brings receipts, realness, and the kind of candid insight that will leave you inspired (and maybe a little fired up). You don't want to miss this one.

Airline Etiquette: The Unspoken Rules of Flying

Season 1 · Episode 17

mardi 28 octobre 2025Duration 41:30

Have you ever wished there was a school for airplane passengers? Well, class is in session! In this episode, we're diving headfirst into the do’s and don’ts of airplane etiquette, straight from the galley to your ears. From overhead bin blunders to bare feet horror stories, we’re breaking down everything that makes us cringe—and laugh—when flying the friendly skies. And yes, we’ve got thoughts on your speakerphone convos and tuna sandwiches too.

We’re sharing real listener stories, our own in-flight drama, and hilarious personal experiences that highlight the bizarre (and sometimes brilliant) behavior we see onboard. If you’ve ever flown—or plan to—you won’t want to miss this crash course in sky manners. Bonus: You might just walk away knowing the true rules of the armrest game.

Episode Highlights:

[0:39] We kick off class—welcome to the school of airplane etiquette.
[1:26] Rich shares a passenger meltdown over a tight connection... and poor decision-making.

[18:04] The overhead bin shuffle—get what you need before sitting down!
[19:25] Safety demo respect, headphone etiquette, and who deserves your “thank you.”
[22:02] Don’t poke the flight attendant... or touch us anywhere else either.
[23:06] The great overhead bin debate—move my bag? Drew says yes. Rich says... ask first.

Dating as a Flight Attendant: Navigating Relationships in Aviation

Season 1 · Episode 5

mardi 13 mai 2025Duration 25:35

What happens when two flight attendants fall in love at 35,000 feet? In this episode, we’re pulling back the curtain (literally) on what it’s like to date and build a life together while living the chaotic, beautiful, and always unpredictable life of flight crews. From long layovers to long-distance romance, we’re sharing our own story of how we met in the skies, made it work, and how our relationship has taken flight over the last 11 years.

We talk about everything from early awkward first encounters to joining each other on overnights, navigating different airlines, decoding each other's schedules, and what it really takes to make a relationship thrive when your "office" is in the sky.

Watch this episode on YouTube!

Episode Highlights:

[0:21] Kicking things off with our current flying schedules — surprisingly drama-free (for once!)

[2:47] Reflecting on an adorable couple celebrating 50 years of marriage—and realizing we still can’t do math on how long we’ve been together.

[4:00] The super awkward, super cute story of how we met on a plane (spoiler: there was clapping involved).

[6:09] How long-distance dating worked for us as two flight attendants in different cities—and why it was oddly easier than it sounds.

[9:04] The game-changing role of the StaffTraveler app and how it would’ve made our early dating days so much easier.

[11:02] Why dating someone who “gets the industry” made all the difference—and how we made time to see each other despite totally different schedules.

[14:12] The (very real) challenges of dating someone not in aviation—cue the classic, “Where are you now?” line.

[16:26] Our thoughts on how airline life actually strengthens our relationship and helps us stay intentional with our time together.

[21:55] On trust, independence, and communication—our take on why those matter even more when you’re both constantly on the move.

[23:29] A call to action: Are you dating in the industry? Flying with your partner? We want to hear your stories!
