How do you get an agent?

Season 1 · Episode 2

vendredi 2 juillet 2021Duration 08:06

Whether you're a young performer or an adult, having an agent is an important part of becoming a professional.

In this episode, we'll discuss why it isn't so important for young performers to have an agent. We'll also give you an insight into how you might get an agent in the future. It's important to note, you can have a successful career without having an agent. However, agents will have access to resources that you don't and can open doors to opportunities that you might not have known about.

Key Points from the Podcast:

  • You don't need an agent for 'open casting calls'.
  • You can't join Spotlight as a young performer without an agent
  • You'll have the chance to perform for agents at your 3rd Year Showcase at Drama College/University

#11 Contact Casting Directors like a professional

Season 1

mardi 1 février 2022Duration 03:07

Have the confidence to contact casting directors like a professional.

No one wants to sound like an amateur, especially when you're talking to the person who might be able to give you a job. We know that casting directors are busy people, under a lot of pressure, so what can we do to make their life a little easier? In my opinion, it's getting straight to the point.

Once you've established a relationship with them, then you can be more personable, but until then, don't waste a minute of their time.

Tell them:

  • Why you’re contacting them
  • Roughly where you’re based and availability
  • Offer to self-tape or meet
  • Your contact details
