There will not be an official Formula 1 game in 2026. Confirmed.

Instead, there will be an F1 26 DLC pack for EA SPORTS F1 25 - including the new cars, liveries and presumably, the Madrid circuit. During a year of significant change for the sport, the official video game will also go through some drastic steps.

Then, the sim racing series will return in 2027, but in a “reimagined” form.

On this week’s Traxion.GG Podcast, Tom sat down with Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Electronic Arts, to talk about the new Formula 1 video game that will be out soon.

Traxion has been covering F1 2021 with some early access for a few weeks now, detailing a bunch of the new features that will grace the new game. They’ll talk about all of that, Mather’s background in the Codemasters F1 games, what goes into making these games and a whole lot more in just under 30 minutes.

It’s been a long journey, from Early Access back in 2018, to PS4 and Xbox One versions in 2020 and finally – for now – the British GT DLC in 2021, but Assetto Corsa Competizione seems to be in the form of its life right now.

With extraordinarily active player counts, and next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X version slated for later in the year, this latest episode of The Traxion Podcast explores why such a serious game that only includes one slightly obscure racing series has become such a smash it for developer KUNOS-Simulazioni and publisher 505 Games.

We’re back with a brand new episode of the Traxion.GG podcast, and this week we discuss games that have aged like a fine wine.

Dodgy episode title aside, this is pertinent, as we live in an age where games are updated, refined, patched and added to post-launch, which means that the original Metacritic becomes less and less relevant.

‘Games as a service’ is a term that exists. Some simulators work on a subscription basis. Games have a second life beyond the initial release.

So, here are just some games that we think fit the bill as something that has got better with age. Like Ryan Gosling or Sienna Miller, but in video game form.

E3, the biggest gaming media event of the year is upon us! Following the Summer Game Fest Kickoff Live, the extended Traxion team discusses what to expect as racing game fans from the event. 
 
Sure, the Covid-19 pandemic has clipped its wings a bit, no press or public within giant theatres celebrating gaming robs us of some atmosphere, but there will still be a long weekend packed full of live streams, updates, DLC and fresh game reveals. 
 
We cover Koch Media, Ubisoft, Microsoft, Nintendo and more, plus the NACON Connect and EA Play Live which are happening in July.

Jon Armstrong is a busy person. Alongside competing in the 2021 Junior World Rally Championship alongside co-driver Phil Hall for the Codemasters DiRT Rally Team, he’s also a game designer at Codemasters during the week. 
  
 For those who perhaps aren’t aware, Jon starting rallying and working is way up the championships, competing in Ireland, the British Rally Championship, the Junior European Rally Championship, and then onto the Drive DMACK Cup and the WRC 2 competition. 

But then, faced with the difficulty of raising the budget required to compete at the very top of rallying, he turned to esports, winning the 2018 (and finishing second in 2019) WRC esports competition. This then led to working on the later stages of DiRT Rally 2.0 development, a full-time role at the company and now the opportunity to compete on the world stage once again. 
  
 The season is going well too, winning the first JWRC round on the Croatia Rally. With all of that in mind, we talked to Jon on this latest podcast episode, discussing his early career, sim rallying and his curent JWRC season so far.
