| #132 - Reality, Transformation, and Mastery – with Dr. Joseph Riggio | 04 Apr 2025 | 01:13:04 | |
👉 Get your free Inner Stressbuster + a shot of Clarity every Friday. Subscribe now: JamieSmart.com - This week, I'm excited to share a fascinating conversation with my good friend and colleague, Dr. Joseph Riggio. Joseph and I have been friends for over 25 years, often exploring deep questions about human potential, transformation, and what it takes to live a truly inspired life. Recently, Joseph sent me a thought-provoking message from sunny Florida, challenging me to reflect on the relationship between our inner perceptions and external reality. He asked: "How do we reconcile the 3Ps concept that 'it's all just thought' with the undeniable external feedback we constantly receive from the world around us?" (If you've been following my work over the past decade, you may have noticed that I tend to avoid the phrase "just thought"—and for good reason.) Joseph’s question sparked an insightful conversation between us, giving me a chance to clarify my particular understanding of Sydney Banks’ teachings, as well as to explore the profound practical implications of how we perceive and navigate reality. I'm delighted to share our recorded discussion as this week’s podcast episode. Here are a few highlights from our conversation:
We also explored the intersection between my approach (informed by the Three Principles) and Joseph’s work, which integrates NLP, hypnosis, and his unique "MythoSelf Process." One thing worth noting: what you’re going to hear is a conversation between two friends and colleagues, comparing and seeking to better understand each others’ “maps of reality”. As such, it’s not a coaching or teaching session (though there’s still plenty to discover). This conversation is particularly valuable if you're committed to making a meaningful impact—whether as a coach, speaker, leader, or in your own personal journey of transformation. Big love, P.S. If you'd like to learn more about Joseph and his remarkable work, I highly recommend checking out his website: josephriggio.com

| #125 - How Do You Know It’s True? Putting the Principles to the Test | 17 Jan 2025 | 00:10:58 | |
A while ago, I was asked a bold question: “How do you know that people have innate health and wellbeing? How do you know this is true?” It’s a question I’ve spent years exploring, and here’s the thing: There are no sacred cows in this understanding. If you’re familiar with my work, you’ll know I often reference the principles behind clarity. These principles don’t require belief or blind faith—if they’re “true” then they should be there to be seen, so they’re fair game to be tested, questioned, and explored deeply. This week’s podcast episode is all about that. It’s an extract from a call in one of my advanced programs, where we explore:
I hope this extract inspires you to test these principles for yourself - and see what emerges. Tons of love, Jamie
| #034 - Are love, peace and resilience really innate? Where’s the evidence? | 06 Apr 2020 | 00:11:43 | |
This episode is a 10-minute clip taken from the first module of this year’s Clarity Certification Training. I’d been exploring the notion of ‘true identity’ with the members of the group, when I was asked this question: “True identity is consciousness itself; I’m very happy with that. The question is, when we move beyond that, into defining that consciousness as having characteristics (such as stillness, love, resilience, truth, calm), where’s the evidence of that?" Basically, where’s the evidence that these qualities are innate? My answer both surprised and resonated with people. Here’s the episode.
| #033 - MASTERCLASS: Finding your bearings in turbulent times | 30 Mar 2020 | 01:00:43 | |
I'm Jamie Smart - welcome to the podcast. You don't need me to tell you that, as I record this, we're living through a time of extreme volatility and uncertainty. One aspect of that is the coronavirus and its health impacts. Another aspect is the societal and economic impacts of our response to the pandemic. But the third, and for many people the most troubling aspect is the psychological and emotional distress that people are dealing with in relation to all this. This week's podcast is a recording of an online masterclass I did recently called "Finding your bearings in turbulent times." As you listen, we’re going to be exploring the things that can help you to… - Navigate these rapidly changing circumstances. You'll also hear me do live Q&A as I deal with the various questions and concerns people (quite naturally) have as they're navigating these strange times. So here's the Masterclass...
| #032 - TCP INTERVIEW: The Coaching Show | 27 Feb 2020 | 00:30:01 | |
This episode is a re-release of an interview from last summer, but as you’ll hear, it’s a conversation with a difference, because rather than me interviewing someone, it’s me *being* interviewed for The Coaching Show, by ICF Master Coach Christopher McAuliffe and his colleague Alex Terranova. And this was an interesting one. As you’ll hear, it was pretty fast-paced, and I really enjoyed the challenge of making the value and approach involved in principles based coaching explicit to a couple of experienced coaches who were brand new to the subject. We talked about 3-day intensives, and what has to happen before a busy executive is willing to take 3 days out of a packed schedule to do an intensive with you. We also talked a lot about the whole domain of growing a coaching practice. Speaking of which, back when we released the episode, I announced that I was running my last ever 90-day Coaching Immersion. One of my business mentors had said that 90 days (12 weeks) was too much - that we should limit the programme to 60 days max, or even just do it as a digital course. So I decided to do one last 90-day programme, and run all three tracks as a single group. We had coaches who wanted to get clients, enroll them on coaching packages and make a difference doing the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track… XXX LINK www.JamieSmart.com/thriving XXX We had people who wanted to change careers to do something more fulfilling and on-purpose doing the Career Transition Blueprint track… XXX LINK www.JamieSmart.com/escape XXX We had people who just wanted to see the principles behind clarity more deeply in the most important aspects of their lives doing the Clarity for Personal Transformation track… XXX LINK www.ClarityAcademy.co/transform12 XXX But they were all doing it in one group, meeting up with me each week for 1:1 coaching in a group context… It was an experiment. It was the first time I’d ever combined all three tracks. I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen. But you know that feeling, when you try something out and it turns out even *better* than you expected? Yeah, that feeling. As we were going through the programme, one of the students asked me why this intake of the 12-week programme was the last one. He said (and I'm paraphrasing), "It's a great format - why are you stopping it?" I explained that we were planning to release these 3 tracks as digital programmes, and experiment with a shorter, 6-8 week format, but it suddenly occurred to me that I should check with the folks on the programme. So I asked them, “How has 12 weeks been for you, in terms of your levels of engagement / amount of progress / amount of time you could devote to it / how much you've learned / how far you've come etc?” Basically, for what we've been doing, was 12 weeks too long, too short, or just right? The vast majority of the people on the programme replied, “Just right.” And here's the thing. That's how I felt too. I enjoyed the hell out of it! So I’ve decided to do a 180. We’re doing the 12-week Coaching Immersion again. I’m going to be doing all 3 tracks, and we’ve got some great coaches and aspiring coaches already signed up and ready to start with the Thriving Coaches Blueprint track. We’re starting soon - the doors close on 11th march. This is a chance to work closely with me in a small group setting, so if you’ve been thinking about making some changes, now’s a good time! If you’re a coach and you want to get clients and grow your practice in a way that feels great and fits with who you really are you can find out more about the Thriving Coaches Blueprint at jamiesmart.com/thriving. And here’s today’s episode
| #031 - Addiction, Compulsion and Habits (and the solution to all of them) with Dr Mark Howard | 19 Dec 2019 | 00:42:47 | |
The conversation you’re about to hear is one I had with my dear friend and colleague, Dr Mark Howard just before we recorded an ‘Impact Kit’ for my ClarityPro members. Mark is a licensed psychologist who's spent *decades* sharing the principles with people to help them recover from addictions. As such, he's probably the most experienced person on the planet when it comes to sharing the principles to help people break free from life-damaging habits and compulsions. Mark and I first met ten years ago in Santa Cruz, when I sat in on a group session he was doing and I was blown away. Behind his gentle demeanour, I could sense a rock solid certainty about what people have going for them. Mark and I became great friends and he’s one of the people I continue to learn from and be impacted by, so I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did. By the way, if you’re a ClarityPro member, you’ll find the Impact Kit I mentioned in the Addiction, Habits & Compulsions module. You’ll hear Mark and I discussing how we work with clients around addictions, and some of the key distinctions and insights that inform that work. And if you’re not a ClarityPro member, but you want to learn how to share the principles with anybody, on any topic and in any situation, you can find out more about our community and what’s on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro. On Friday January 3rd at midnight, we’re closing the doors to new members. So after Friday January 3rd, we won’t be accepting any new members until we open the doors briefly at the end of April. So if you’ve been thinking of joining ClarityPro, now’s a good time. In addition to that, we’ve got the next ClarityLive event coming up on January 11th & 12th, and the theme for this ClarityLive event is the whole domain of goals, results and taking things to a new level, so we thought we’d go with a new year / breakthrough theme. And I’m mentioning that because when you join ClarityPro before January 3rd, you get a free ticket to a ClarityLive event, so you can use it for the January event, or for one later in the year. So you can find out more about ClarityPro and what’s on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro And finally, I want to thank you for listening, and wish you a happy, peaceful and relaxing time during the holiday season.
| #030 - DEMO: Narcissistic Abuse (Coaching VS therapy) | 09 Dec 2019 | 00:45:06 | |
In this episode you’re going to hear a coaching demo I did in front of an audience with a client suffering from what she described as narcissistic abuse. She sometimes felt overwhelming fear of rejection, and wanted to start living with more peace and freedom. The client had trained extensively as a therapist, and was convinced her present-day problems were rooted in her past. And she'd tried lots of things... Telling herself she knew it was just a story (she didn't). Trying to tell herself a better story (she couldn't). Working at accepting the overwhelming feelings (they seemed unacceptable). But what if there's so much *less* than that to do? You may have heard me say that the two most valuable things a person can discover are how experience is created and who they really are. My client thought her overwhelming feelings were telling her about her past (they weren't). My client thought there was something wrong with her (there wasn't. And there isn't.) As the session proceeded, she started waking up to the truth of who she really is. And everything shifted. A few days later, she wrote that everything had changed since our session. She said she feels so much more relaxed in the areas where she'd been struggling. She said that the feeling of lack she'd been experiencing had somehow disappeared. And she hadn't been working at it. It just happened. That's the power of insight and realisation. As you’ll hear, I move between coaching the client and speaking to the audience. The main coaching session is in the first 20 minutes of the podcast, then I speak to the audience for a while then come back to the coaching client for the last few minutes to check in with her. So I hope you enjoy the session. By the way, if you’re a ClarityPro member, you’ll be receiving a fully unpacked version of this coaching session where I take you behind the scenes and explain what I’m responding to, what’s guiding the questions I’m asking and how I’m making sense of what the client is telling me. So if you’re a ClarityPro Member, you’ll find that in the impact kit for the module called ‘Coaching, Therapy & Changework from the Inside-out’. And if you’re not a ClarityPro member, but you want to learn how to share the principles with anybody, on any topic and in any situation, you can find out more about our community and what’s on offer at www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro And if you want to learn how to bring an understanding of these principles into every aspect of your work and life, you can join me on the January 2020 intake of the Clarity Certification Training, you can get one of the last 11 places and save up to £2,000 off the full price when you book your place by Friday, 10th January. | #029 - DEMO - Taking public speaking to the next level | 25 Nov 2019 | 00:14:28
What you’re about to hear is a recording of a brief but powerful coaching demo I did with a Certified Clarity Coach, Trainer and Speaker, Clesia Mendes. Clesia starts out by saying she wants to take things to 'the next level' as a public speaker. She's doing lots of public speaking, and learning a lot in the process, so she's looking for opportunities to make things even better. So she was a little surprised when I asked... "How do you know you're not already at the next level?" As we explored her answers to that question, we discovered that "the next level" was in the last place she expected to find it. Despite the fact that this session is brief, it points to one of the things I consider to be absolutely crucial when it comes to having an impact with an individual or group.
| #028 - The future of psychology? | 11 Nov 2019 | 01:14:34 | |
Do the principles represent the the future of psychology? I’m Jamie Smart, and what you’re about to hear is me being interviewed by the author Amir Karkouti, the creator of the What The F*#$ Are The Principles? group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/299806010361726/ In this conversation I make the case for why the principles behind clarity (as realised & articulated by Syd Banks) represent the future of psychology. We cover quite a lot of ground in this session including: - What distinguishes the principles from every other psychological and spiritual model - My take on what Syd Banks meant when he said "Thought is the missing link" - Why I believe the two most valuable things you can discover are how experience is created and who you really are The session also includes a Q&A session where I was asked some really great questions, including... - How can you be so certain these principles represent the future of psychology? - Why teach this rather than (for instance) "pure non-duality" or some other spiritual or psychological model? - How to free yourself from the need to convince anyone (and the challenges inherent in that) So with that, here’s my conversation with Amir…
| #027 - Setting the foundations for a 1:1 coaching intensive | 21 Oct 2019 | 00:26:19 | |
This episode is something I’m really excited to share with you. It’s an excerpt from a one-off event I ran two years ago, called “The 1:1 Coaching Intensive Unpacked”. Here’s the backstory: As you may be aware, one of the way I love to work with my clients is by doing a 3-day, 1:1 coaching intensive. I find that the intensive format means you can achieve in a few days what would previously have taken a whole year to accomplish, so it’s a really powerful format. So in my book RESULTS, one of the chapters included a story about the time one of my apprentices, the coach Ankush Jain, sat in and observed while I did a 3-day 1:1 Intensive with a client, so he could have an experience of what it’s like to do an intensive. When that book came out, I had lots of people come to me and ask if they could sit in on an intensive. I understand - it’s hard to do something you don’t have a reference experience for, and most coaches and therapists have never experienced an intensive. But it just wasn’t practical for me to have groups of students sitting in on my intensives. So I managed to come up with something even better: I created a special event, where I conducted a 3-day, High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensive, with a real, live, paying client, and we filmed the whole thing. Not only that: The whole time I was doing the intensive, there was a video feed to another room where a live audience of coaches, therapists, trainers and business people were watching and listening to the entire intensive. Before and after each intensive session, I came into the room with them to unpack everything that was going on. And we got all that on film too! So in this podcast episode, you’re going to hear the opening session that I did with that group of coaches, therapists and other professionals. You’re going to hear me ‘laying the ground’ and setting the foundations for the whole experience, including some of the most important distinctions you need to pay attention to when you’re doing an intensive. By the way, if you want to see and hear all the intensive and group sessions, head over to www.ClarityAcademy.co/intensive where you’ll find all the details about the 1:1 Coaching Intensive unpacked. You see, It can be incredibly difficult to do something new when you don't have a reference experience for it… That's why I created this programme: To give you your own personal reference experience so you have the confidence AND the competence to structure, deliver and enroll clients on High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensives. We’re launching the programme this week, so you can save £300 when you register before midnight on Friday, 25th October, and there’s a special bonus package when you sign up now, so head over to www.ClarityAcademy.co/intensive if you want to get your own personal reference experience, and develop the confidence AND the competence to structure, deliver and enroll clients on High-Value 1:1 Coaching Intensives.
| #026 - Mind-blowingly weird: the strangest fact about your perception | 27 Sep 2019 | 00:12:02 | |
What you’re about to hear is an excerpt from a Masterclass I did a few years back during the Clarity Certification Training. You’re about to discover something mind-blowingly weird: it’s quite literally the strangest fact about your perception, and it blows me away every time i think of it. And it’s going to be particularly useful to you if you’ve ever said, “I know it’s just my thinking but…” - I hear that a lot from people when it’s clear to me that they don’t know it’s got much if anything to do with thinking. You’re also going to find it useful if you want to know the difference between thoughts, thinking and the power of Thought. By the way, our flagship programme, the Clarity Certification Training is now open for enrolment and you can save up to £3,000 by getting one of the Super-Earlybird places that are available until this Monday, 30th September. A few things worth knowing… 1. | #025 - DEMO - Dissolving impostor syndrome | 06 Sep 2019 | 00:12:27
This episode is a brief coaching demo. In fact it got turned around in under 7 minutes. Basically, a few weeks ago I did a coaching demo with one of my clients, Mary, around what she described as ‘impostor syndrome’. She told me that whenever she started to make progress, she’d get to a certain point, then fall back. She wanted to be able to ‘put herself out there’… She wanted to be able to charge fees that would be rewarding… She wanted to be excited about what she was doing, and feel unstoppable… But she felt like an impostor, and it kept stopping her. We did the coaching demo, and in less than 7 minutes, it had shifted for her. How? She had an insight - a realisation - and everything started to change. By the way, Mary is one of the students on my 12-week, 90-day coaching immersion which is starting this month, and it’s all about having a breakthrough this year. And this is the very LAST time I’m ever running my 12-week programme. So the question I’ve been asking people is this: What's the number 1 breakthrough you could have by the end of this year that you believe would have the biggest positive impact in your life / work / practice (whatever aspect of your world makes sense to you to focus on)? Maybe it's a goal you want to achieve, or a change you want to make. Perhaps it's a problem you want to solve, or something you want to start doing (or even stop doing)... So examples of tangible breakthroughs might include doing a principles-based presentation / enrolling a client on a ‘high-value package’ / creating your career transition plan / handing in your notice / running your first intensive / starting a new job / getting clients for your coaching or consulting practice / running principles workshops / moving from employment to doing your own thing, but could also include breakthroughs in health / relationships / wellbeing etc) So you might like to ponder on that question for yourself: What's the number 1 breakthrough you could have by the end of this year that you believe would have the biggest positive impact in your life / work / practice? So because this is the last time I’m running it, we’re doing something a little different: We’re running our 3 most popular courses in their original 12-week format for one last time… … three programme tracks … one group of like-minded people … and a whole set of massive transformational breakthroughs by the end of the year Now the 3 programme tracks are the thriving coaches blueprint, the career transition blueprint, and clarity for personal transformation. I’ve recorded a short, 3-minute video explaining how it’s going to work and what to do if you think it might be a good fit for you. You can watch that video at www.ClarityAcademy.co/immersion I’d love to help you answer the ‘number 1 breakthrough’ for yourself, and see you make it into a reality.
| #124 - Get Unstuck and On-Track | 09 Jan 2025 | 00:10:16 | |
You’ve probably heard me say this before: the two most important things a person can realize are:
During a recent event, “Get Unstuck and On-Track,” I shared how these insights apply directly to breaking free from feeling stuck and moving forward with clarity.
If you’ve ever felt like something is holding you back - whether it’s in your work, relationships, or life - this episode will give you a fresh perspective that can make all the difference.
Tons of love, Jamie PS - Thanks to Roberto Talarico for organizing this online event!

| #024 - TCP INTERVIEW: The Coaching Show | 15 Aug 2019 | 00:28:04 | |
This episode is a little different, because rather than me interviewing someone, it’s me *being* interviewed for The Coaching Show, by Master Coach Christopher McAuliffe and another coach, Alex Terranova. And this was an interesting one.
| #023 - Body Image, Identity and Wellbeing | 12 Aug 2019 | 00:21:27 | |
A few weeks ago, my good friend Charli Wall invited me to do a talk and some coaching demos for a group of people on one of her programmes. 💜 I love doing coaching demos (it's one of my top skills), so I happily agreed 😀 Then Charli told me the subject… She wanted me to talk about body image. I explained to her that I’d never really given ‘body image’ much thought, but that I’d be happy to share what it looked like to me. So that’s what I did. I started with a question: “What is body image?” And we took it from there. The talk ranged from puppies to epistemology… from toddlers to your true identity… And at one point it occurred to me to ask a question that had never occurred to me before (this is the brain-teaser)… "If you were to wake up tomorrow morning and discover that your body image had improved, like it was 2x or 5x or 100 times as good… how would you know?" I spoke for 18 minutes, and then we spent the next 40 minutes doing coaching demos. The coaching demos are private and confidential, but Charli kindly gave me permission to share this 18-minute body-image talk with my community. Would you like to see / hear the session?
| #022 - Interview: Better relationships from the inside-out | 31 Jul 2019 | 00:46:21 | |
in this episode of the get clarity podcast, you’re going to hear a conversation I had on the subject of relationships with two of my dear friends and colleagues, Jan and Chip Chipman. I recorded this interview with Jan and Chip at the same time as we were recording material for ClarityPro. In ClarityPro, we cover a different topic every month, ranging from stress and anxiety to confidence & self-belief, and we give the members all the resources THEY need to share the principles effectively with the people they want to reach. Well, June’s topic was relationships, and we were lucky enough to have Jan and Chip record an audience engagement lesson for our members on working with clients around the whole area relationships. And that brings us to this episode. What you’re about to hear is a conversation I had with Jan and Chip Chipman, all about relationships. my team and I believe the most valuable things a person can discover is how their mind works and who they really are. And Jan and Chip are two of the people who I’ve really learned a lot from, particularly in the domain of relationships. They’ve been learning and sharing the inside-out understanding for over 40 years, and they’ve got a wealth of experiences working with individuals, couples, prison inmates, large companies and all points in between. | #021 - DEMO: Parenting with the principles: How to help a suffering child | 24 Jun 2019 | 00:12:50
This episode features a coaching demo I did with Clarity Coach Trevor Hartwick. And here’s one of the interesting things about it: We did the demo at the end of a virtual session where we only had 7 minutes left. What you’re going to hear is just how quickly it’s possible for someone to experience a profound shift when you’re working with an understanding of the principles behind clarity. Trevor and his wife are new parents, with a two-month old baby. Trevor’s loving being a father, but sometimes, when the baby won’t stop crying, he feels powerless. Trevor said it breaks his heart to see his child upset and not be able to make him happy. And of course, whether you’re a parent or not, you can probably relate to Trevor, because we’ve all had the experience of seeing someone we care about suffering, and feeling powerless to do anything about it. As you’ll hear, what Trevor realised is that one of the biggest gifts he can give his son can *only* be given in those moments where there’s nothing he can do to make him happy. At the end of the session, we take a pause, then you’ll hear me circle back to check in with Trevor. By the way, the Clarity Certification Training for coaches, practitioners and professionals is formally open for registration. We’ve had people from all walks of life go through the programme including computer programmers, doctors, call centre workers, lawyers, parents, PR specialists, therapists, office workers, entrepreneurs, surgeons, people who are already coaches, consultants, trainers and even a professional footballer. The programme starts in January 2020, and we’re only accepting 36 applicants this time, so if you want to find out how to become a Clarity Coach, and see what’s involved in bringing an understanding of these principles into every aspect of your life, go to https://www.jamiesmart.com/coach
| #020 - Nick Bottini From Scared of speaking on his home-turf to bestselling author, sharing the principles | 26 Apr 2019 | 00:39:38 | |
In this episode of the podcast, you’re going to be hearing a conversation I had with a good friend and colleague, Nick Bottini. Over the past couple of years he’s gone from being the music teacher in a school to being a bestselling author, speaker and coach who’s passionate about sharing the inside-out understanding with musicians. And while hundreds of thousands of people are now exploring and having insights into this understanding, there are relatively few people who are managing to share this understanding effectively. Nick’s an example of someone who’s been proactive in navigating that journey from having his OWN insights into the inside-out nature of life, to helping other people to have THEIR own realisations, but that’s not where he started. In the beginning, Nick experienced what people often call ‘impostor syndrome’ when it came to sharing the principles with musicians. He said, “I did hold off sharing with musicians because I felt like ‘Who am I to share it at all’ and sharing it on my home territory is the scariest thing to do because it's like I've got real credibility to lose. I could be ‘that guy that's always talking about that thing’ you know, and and how will people react to that?” And here’s one of the reasons I’m really excited to be sharing this conversation with you. As you may already know, at our company, we believe the most valuable things you can discover are how experience is created and who you really are. Our mission is to inspire and educate a generation to experience lives of clarity, resilience and wellbeing. And one of the things we’ve realised is that the world needs more people who can share the inside-out understanding with others. While Nick’s story is going to be an inspiration for people who want to ‘get this understanding out there’, there’s an important message for all of us in it: By the way - whether you have an audience you’d like to reach, like Nick, or you just want to share what you’ve realised with the people already in your world, we’ve just launched a new membership site called Clarity Pro. It’s designed for you to have everything you need to share the principles like a pro, with anybody, on any topic and in any situation. To find out more, go to www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro
| #019 - Clarity Case Study: The Principles of Clarity at Work in the NHS | 19 Mar 2019 | 00:37:10 | |
A simple solution to stress, pressure and burnout in the NHS. this episode is one we’ve been trying to organise for a while, because it’s with Louise O’Dalaigh, a woman who’s been working to introduce the principles behind clarity into he National Health Service (NHS). Louise went into the NHS because she’s passionate about helping people and caring for others. She started out as a nurse, and rose through the ranks to become a senior manager leading services. That looked like a last resort to her, so she started exploring the principles behind clarity. During the first workshop she attended, she had an insight into where her experience was coming from, and who she really is. Within weeks, she was off medication, and living with a knowledge of her innate resilience and wellbeing that is with her to this day. Once she saw the power of this understanding for herself, it was a no-brainer to see how it could benefit her colleagues. And you may be able to relate to this. Have you had a realisation into some aspect of these principles, then wondered “Why doesn’t everyone know this?” or “How can I get this out there?” Of course, knowing these principles can make a huge difference is one thing, but it’s quite another thing to answer the question, “How do you share this understanding with the people in your workplace? How do you share it with your colleagues? With your friends? With your loved ones?” Louise is a mum to four children, so you can imagine how important this last one is to her. In this episode, you’re going to hear how Louise is answering that question, and is now sharing this understanding with senior health professionals from all around the world. You may also get your own insights and realisations about how to ‘get these principles out there’, and share them with the people who matter to you.

A conversation with a good friend and Clarity Coach Christine Mitchell. In this episode of The Thriving Coaches podcast, you’re going to be hearing a conversation I had with a good friend and colleague, Clarity Coach Christine Mitchell. Christine works with people who arrive with a variety of challenges and objectives, particularly around anxiety, stress and OCD. And one of the interesting things about Christine is she’s working more and more with nurses and first-responders. | #017 - Subtractive psychology: Are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer | 01 Mar 2019 | 01:00:53
Are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer? In this episode of the get clarity podcast, we’re going to be answering this question about subtractive psychology: are formless principles too 'woo-woo' for a corporate lawyer? Here’s the back story. You may recall that I conducted a 3-day Clarity 1:1 Coaching Intensive with a corporate lawyer named Andy, in front of a live audience of coaches, therapists and trainers. A year later, I did a live follow-up interview with Andy in front of an audience, to find out how the experience changed his world and give people the chance to ask us BOTH questions. There were some real surprises – for instance someone asked Andy whether he would have been prepared to pay full price for the intensive, knowing what he knows now (Andy paid £4,000 instead of the usual fee of £30,000, in return for letting an audience watch and listen as he went through the entire experience). As you can imagine, I was waiting with baited breath to hear his answer in front of an audience of over 100 people! I’ve decided to share the whole interview with you, because it’s so aligned with the purpose my team and I are working to. As you may know, we believe the most valuable things a person can discover are how their mind works, and who they really are. Well, this interview demonstrates why they're so valuable– the immeasurable, practical, real-world benefits of learning just these two things, specifically. And when I say learning, I mean realising them insightfully – not just as concepts, beliefs or ideas, but as bedrock facts that make a go-forward difference in your life. These two facts (how your mind works and who you really are) are what Andy realised insightfully during his intensive, and what you’re going to hear is the difference those two discoveries have made in his work, and in his life as a whole. In the interview he reports on the changes in: - His sense of trust in himself and his decision-making Here are some of the questions Andy gave answers to: - How did how you operate in the world before VS after the intensive? What changed for you? - How did things change around your career transition and your ability to take action and be productive? - Knowing what you know now, would you have been prepared to pay the full price (£30,000) for your intensive? - What was the biggest new belief that you gained about yourself in the intensive that you felt was most transformative? (Andy’s answer to this was particularly interesting, because of the ‘subtractive’ nature of this work) - How did you go about building your coaching practice alongside your corporate lawyer role? - What impact has the intensive have had on your relationships - for instance work colleagues, family etc? - What do you think the difference would have been if you'd had regular coaching in hourly sessions rather than an intensive? I was also asked some technical questions (E.g. do you ever do Intensives remotely? The answer is “yes”), as well as what I’d learned personally from the intensive, so it was great to share my insights from the session. If you'd like to contact Andy to find out more about his coaching services, you can reach him on andyjsmith101 at gmail dot com or at his "Business Success Made Simple" Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/130424981156517/
| #016 - KEYNOTE: Clarity, Resilience and Doing What You Love | 14 Feb 2019 | 01:03:43 | |
A keynote I did at the Popup Business School in Westminster. In November of 2018, I was invited to speak to 100 students at the PopUp Business School in Westminster, London. The founders of Popup created it as a response to traditional startup advice, because they felt that stuff was completely inaccessible to some of the people they wanted to inspire... - Unemployed people Basically, people who were traditionally excluded from the kind of support that helps when you're starting up. Not only that, but they’re people who often don’t get to experience the kind of work I do. They run their programmes in partnership with Housing Associations and Local Authorities, to help their constituents get a handle on their financial situations by creating their own income streams. Popup help people start their own business, fast! I was talking with one of the founders, Simon Paine, (Simon was personally impacted after reading my books and listening to this podcast, and we’ve ended up becoming friends), so we were having lunch and I asked him this question: "What's the number one thing that stops people taking action and creating the business they want to?" He thought about it, then he said "It's the psychological stuff"; confidence, motivation, resilience. - Believing they were broken - that past experiences had damaged them - Thinking that they couldn't change - that their lives couldn't transform - Feeling like they lacked the qualities they would need to deal with the ups and downs of doing their own thing When he asked if I could do a talk to help his students with that stuff, I instantly said "YES". You see, my team and I believe the most valuable thing a person can discover is how their mind works and who they really are. We want to share this far and wide and reach people in every walk of life. We want to inspire and educate a generation about what they've got going for them, so this means reaching the kinds of people who would rarely get the chance to hear about this sort of thing, in fact one of the audiences we want to be reaching is the very people that popup business school are working with. As you can imagine, I was really excited to see how the simple message of the principles behind clarity landed with the Popup audience. It was a big experiment for me AND for Popup. So in this recording, you’re going to hear what happened when I shared this understanding with a group of people who were hearing about it for the first time. Enjoy!
| #015 - DEMO: Social Anxiety and Awakening the True Self | 06 Dec 2018 | 00:29:42 | |
Last weekend was module 3 of the 10-month Clarity Coach Training programme. On the very first module, back in September, I did a 1:1 coaching session with Anna Foakes. Anna is a therapist who’s passionate about making a difference to her clients, but who experienced stress and “social anxiety” when she was in larger groups of people. She volunteered to do a coaching demo with me, and it turned it to be fascinating for a number of reasons:
| #123 - COACHING DEMO: The Fact of Connection What Truly Gets In the Way | 03 Jan 2025 | 00:21:35 | |
I hope the new year is off to a wonderful start for you. This week, I’m sharing a coaching demo where Roberto opens up about a challenge many of us face: feeling disconnected in relationships and life. In this session, we explored:

| #014 - The Fundamentals of Clarity Coaching | 31 Oct 2018 | 00:17:07 | |
In this episode, you’re going to hear the introduction to a session that I did at the Realising Potential conference. The introduction was to a set of coaching demonstrations that I did. The reason I’m sharing the introduction is because I got a lot of feedback from people saying how powerful it was because what you’ll hear me do is lay out my approach to coaching people from a principles-based understanding. What I also explain is why coaching from a principles understanding is so different to how I used to coach (when I was an NLP coach) and to how a lot of people approach coaching. So if you’re interested in moving to coaching from a principles understanding this might be particularly interesting to you. By the way later this year (or early next year) we’re going to be running The Thriving Coaches Blueprint program and a lot of people on that program have come to it from other modalities such as NLP, hypnosis, therapy etc. and they have found that the programme was a great way of starting that transition into working with people from a principles-based understanding. If you want more details about The Thriving Coaches Blueprint go to jamiesmart.com/thriving (we haven’t opened the doors yet but you can put your name down to so you will be alerted when we do).
| #013 - KEYNOTE - The Search Is Over (Except When It Isn't) | 03 Oct 2018 | 01:27:10 | |
In this episode we are doing something a little different. This past Sunday (Sep 30th) was international Podcast Day and so to celebrate it we are re-releasing the most popular episode of any of our podcasts. The original episode went out on the Results Mindset Podcast a year ago and it's a keynote that I did at the unlimited conference in Finland called 'The Search is Over (except when it isn't)... by far our most listened to show. Enjoy!
| #012 - Demo - Procrastination, Productivity and Religious Beliefs | 19 Sep 2018 | 00:59:11 | |
This week’s episode is a coaching demo I did during the first module of this year’s Clarity Coach Training programme which kicked off a couple of weeks ago. We record all the modules so we can give the footage to the participants to review, as well as share it with the people who had to miss the first module, and this coaching demo was a shocker for everyone who saw it. Here’s why: The client, Karen, was struggling to be productive, take action and make progress on growing her coaching practice. She said she knew what she should be doing but just wasn’t doing it. Can you relate to that? As you’re going to hear, all of us were shocked when she discovered the true reason for her procrastination (I really didn’t expect the coaching session to take the turn that it took), but this is often the way with coaching. One of the biggest mistakes you can make is thinking you know what the client should do, and the best thing you’ve got going for you as a coach is really seeing that your client has all the answers you need, and you’re really going to get that in this session. Since the demo, Karen told me she’s feeling much lighter, and taking action. She said things that felt impossible or really hard suddenly are really light and easy. You’re going to be experiencing the whole thing for yourself!
| #011 - Why clients hire you as a coach or therapist | 05 Sep 2018 | 00:12:37 | |
In this episode you’re going to hear me answer a question from a coach called Max, who asked what is it that has people hire you as a coach? Max had always been told that you need to “blow a client’s mind” during your enrolment conversation, and he’d noticed that I seemed to be taking a completely different approach (this was during one of my coach training programmes where I’d just been demonstrating an enrolment session with a client called Sarah).
| #010 - Dealing with difficult / challenging people | 22 Aug 2018 | 01:08:18 | |
In this episode you’re going to hear a group session I did in Amir Karkouti’s ‘What the F*#$ Are The Principles?’ group and it was not only a lot of fun (the session was called “Outsmart Jamie Smart”); it was also super-impactful for a lot of people, so I wanted to share it with you. Here’s what it was about: I asked people to think of the most difficult and challenging people to discuss your work with - especially clients – and then they came on the session LIVE and role-played those people and scenarios so I could demonstrate how I’d handle it.
| #009 - Demo – Dealing with Impostor Syndrome, Self-doubt and Self-belief | 15 Aug 2018 | 01:20:59 | |
This episode is one I’ve shared on my Get Clarity podcast this week, but it’s super-relevant to coaches, therapists and transformation professionals, and here’s why: it’s a coaching session I did with a coach who was struggling with self-doubt and lack of self-belief.
| #008 - Demo - Money Beliefs and Signing up Coaching Clients | 08 Aug 2018 | 01:06:53 | |
This episode is a coaching session I did with coach and therapist Pete Bryceland nearly 4 years ago during the beta test of the Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme. I did the session in a group setting and the reason this may be of particular interest to you is that in the 3 weeks following the session Pete signed up two coaching clients on packages of 10 thousand pounds each. So he made more money in that month than he’d made in the previous year.
By the way we are about to kick off the final Thriving Coaches Blueprint of 2018. The doors close this Frida, august 10th and for the first time in 3 years I’m going to be doing all the group coaching sessions on this intake personally.
That means that each person who come on this intake of the programme is going to get 1-1 coaching with me in a group context. So if you want to find out what’s involved and see if you’re a good fit go to www.JamieSmart.com/thriving

| #006 - Demo - Weight Loss and Self Care | 11 Jul 2018 | 00:28:37 | |
This episode pf The Thriving Coaches podcast features a coaching session I did during the 2017 Clarity Coach Training programme with a very successful coach called Pam Featherstone. Pam took her coaching business from zero to 1 million in under 3 years and became Action Coaches No. 1 global coach of the year. In fact she was the first ever UK coach to achieve their global award (previously it had been won by coaches from the USA and Australia). Pam currently gives 80% of all her earnings to charity and has delivered 12000 coaching hours over the course of 5 years but she came on the Clarity Coach training programme to increase her impact with her clients even more and to experience her own personal transformations. In this session you’re going to hear me working with Pam on caring for her own health and wellbeing. This is something I see with a lot of coaches, therapists and transformation professionals – they’re brilliant at support other people but sometimes need a little support in taking care of themselves. By the way the certified Clarity Coach Training programme is formally open for registration and it’s not just for coaches, we’ve had all sorts of people go through the programme including computer programmers, doctors, call centre workers, layers, parents PR specialists, therapists, office workers, entrepreneurs, surgeons, people who are already coaches and consultants and trainers and even a professional footballer and if you’re interested it’s worth knowing that we’re not running the programme next year so the intake that’s starting this September (2018) is the last chance you’ll get to join us until 2020 at the very earliest. So if you want to find out how to become a Clarity Coach and see what’s involved in bringing an understanding of these principles into every aspect of your life go to https://www.jamiesmart.com/coach

| #122 - COACHING DEMO: Your Gifts Are Needed: overcoming the fear of sharing your work | 27 Dec 2024 | 00:25:00 | |
This week, I’m sharing a powerful coaching demo from one of my group sessions that explores a challenge so many of us face: bringing our work into the world.
In this clip, Tracey—a coach and author—shares her struggle with launching her book.
Despite having written it, she feels stuck, held back by doubts like “Does the world need another book?” and fears about what might happen once it’s out there.
What unfolded during our conversation reveals something essential for anyone wanting to share their gifts with the world:
I also share one of my favorite poems that captures the essence of why your work matters.
If you’ve ever hesitated to put yourself out there, I think you’ll find this episode relatable—and inspiring.

| #121 - Deep Enrollment: Aligning with What Truly Matters | 20 Dec 2024 | 00:07:21 | |
A few weeks ago, I asked a group of coaches what they most wanted to improve in their practice. The top answer? Getting better at enrolling clients. That’s why this week, I’m sharing a short extract from my ClarityPro programme, where we dive into what I call Deep Enrollment. Deep Enrollment isn’t just about ‘signing people up’—it’s about connecting with something else entirely… An ‘X-factor’ that’s deeply authentic, profound and highly motivating. Because let’s face it; if someone’s going to invest their time, their money and their energy in working with you at a deep level, it’s got to be for something that really matters to them. And here’s the most surprising aspect of it: you need to eat your own cooking first. Before you can ‘deeply enroll’ your client, you need to deeply enroll yourself! In this episode, I share:
