Say What You Mean. Mean What You Say: How to Practice Integrity

Episode 84

mardi 4 novembre 2025Duration 43:24

Integrity. We want it. We expect it. But do we practice it?

Have you ever felt betrayed by someone whose words didn’t match their actions? Or been promised something that never came to pass? That sting of disappointment isn’t just about broken commitments—it’s about broken character.

Integrity isn’t simply about being good—it’s about being whole. It’s the alignment of speech, spirit, and follow-through. “Let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’”— I recall the ancient words of Jesus of Nazareth. Integrity what makes someone trustworthy, not just talented.

In this episode, we’re diving into the art of integrity: what it means to be untouched, unbroken, and unwavering in character. We’ll unpack its ancient roots, examine how trust has eroded across politics, workplaces, and homes, and explore how Gen Z and Gen Alpha are quietly leading a return to values that matter.

So let’s talk about how to say what you mean and mean what you say—because when your words build trust, your actions build legacy.

Seeing the World: Understanding Culture Through Travel Abroad with Brian McIntosh

Episode 83

mardi 21 octobre 2025Duration 01:16:17

Travel isn’t just about crossing borders. It’s about expanding your worldview.

In this episode, we sit down with Brian McIntosh, a Toronto-based travel content creator who’s explored 120 countries and built a platform that challenges the mental barriers keeping people from experiencing the world. From safety and affordability to language and belonging, Brian helps everyday people become confident explorers.
Brian is a Toronto-based travel content creator who has explored 120 countries and built a thriving platform that challenges the mental barriers keeping people from experiencing the world. Since his first international journey, he’s addressed common fears—“It’s not safe,” “I can’t afford it,” “I don’t speak the language,” “People like me aren’t welcome”—with clarity and confidence.

As a leading voice in the luxury Black travel community, Brian’s work has been featured in Travel + Leisure and Essence Magazine, where he’s celebrated for his cinematic aesthetic and empowering message. His authentic storytelling has led to collaborations with over 100 brands, including Google, Adidas, Panasonic, luxury hotels, and tourism boards worldwide.

Brian calls himself a “Visual Architect,” blending an engineer’s precision with an artist’s eye. Through stunning photography and immersive content, he proves that safety is achievable, luxury is accessible, and cultural differences are bridges—not barriers. He believes the world is eager to welcome curious travelers who show up with respect and openness.

More than showcasing destinations, Brian equips his audience with mindset shifts and practical tools—from travel insurance and packing tips to cultural sensitivity and travel hacking. His honest conversations about navigating unfamiliar places, overcoming language gaps, and traveling as a person of color help transform “someday” dreamers into confident explorers.

His mission is clear: to remove the roadblocks that keep people from seeing the world, and to prove that extraordinary travel experiences aren’t reserved for a select few—they’re waiting for anyone bold enough to challenge their own limitations.

We’ll talk about what it means to see the world through a cultural lens, how to travel smart, and why representation in travel matters.

Whether you’re a seasoned traveler or still dreaming of your first passport stamp, this episode will equip you with practical tips and fresh perspective to help you move from hesitation to exploration.

The Healing Power of CQ: How Cultural Intelligence Can Deepen Your Connections & Reconcile Your Relationships with Guest: Loren Rosario-Maldonado

Episode 72

mardi 20 mai 2025Duration 01:23:29

New times demand new approaches—not just in leadership but in how we connect with others. Today’s relationships, whether in the workplace, at home, or within our communities, require a deeper level of awareness and adaptability—what Loren Rosario-Maldonado calls Cultural Intelligence (CQ).

Much like leadership must transcend departments and titles, Cultural Intelligence enables individuals to break past surface-level connections and understand the nuances that shape interactions in a globally interconnected world. No one comes to the table unaffected by personal experiences, cultural backgrounds, or external influences, and leaders who acknowledge this reality can foster stronger, more meaningful relationships.

By embracing Cultural Intelligence, you won’t just improve engagement and communication—you may also unlock a deeper level of self-awareness and connection that transforms interactions in work, social settings, and everyday life.

Join me on this episode of The Coach’s Corner as I dive deeper into this concept with Loren. Together, we’ll break down the power of CQ and how it helps us navigate the complexities of human relationships.

Loren’s life is a testament to the incredible power of nurturing leadership within each of us, at every level. Her journey, rich with experience, has been a beacon, transforming organizations and setting new benchmarks of excellence across diverse industries. But despite all her accolades, Loren always felt there was a missing piece in the intricate puzzle of her connections and interactions. Cultural Intelligence was that missing puzzle piece.

In her inspiring new book, Becoming the Change: The Power of Cultural Intelligence, Loren invites us into her journey of revelation and growth. Here, she passionately digs into the transformative potential of cultural intelligence. It’s not just about broadening our horizons; it’s a journey to the core of self-discovery. Loren’s book is more than pages and words; it’s an invitation to embark on a deeply personal and enlightening journey, exploring how embracing cultural intelligence can open doors to understanding ourselves and the world around us.

Holistic Leadership: How to Lead for the Whole Person in the 21st Century of Work

Episode 69

mardi 8 avril 2025Duration 45:56

New times demand new leadership approaches. Today's leadership calls for a holistic perspective—what I call 'Holistic Leadership: Leadership for the whole person.' This phrase reflects my observations of the modern workplace.

Leaders can no longer limit their influence to work, departments, or branches. Leadership must transcend the workplace and connect to the lives of their teams, as far as those teams allow. After all, no one comes to work unaffected by life outside of it.

To ignore this reality would be naive. We are deeply interconnected as a global village, and the fact that you're reading this proves how connected we are through social media. Leaders who recognize this reality can cultivate the skills required to lead holistically.

By embracing this approach, you'll not only enhance engagement and retention, but you may also achieve one of Maslow's highest ideals—self-actualization as a leader. Holistic Leadership is the way forward for 21st-century leaders. May you lead with the whole person in mind.

For my next episode, catch me on The Online Prosperity Show, hosted by Prosper Taruvinga, where I delve deeper into this concept.

Making Pillow Talk: How to Be Comfortable with the Uncomfortable Conversation with Robin Wilson

Episode 68

mardi 25 mars 2025Duration 01:13:08

Have you heard of pillow talk? If not, let me break it down. Pillow talk refers to the intimate, relaxed conversations shared between partners while lying in bed—typically before falling asleep or after waking up. It's a moment of vulnerability, connection, and open communication, where people feel at ease discussing personal thoughts, feelings, or even lighthearted topics.

But what happens when the pillow stops being a bridge for conversation and becomes a barrier of contention? When it feels like an insurmountable wall separating you from your beloved? How can couples preserve that intimacy?

Join me for this heartfelt episode as I explore these questions with my guest, Robin Wilson.

Robin Wilson is the founder/CEO of a global lifestyle brand, CLEAN DESIGN HOME® sold at HSN, Macy’s, BELK, Wayfair, Bed Bath & Beyond and within every branch of the military – plus a thriving hospitality business. In addition, her firm completes projects for select interior design clientele. Her brand focuses on the whole home categories including mattresses, pillows, sheets, comforters, robes, towels and more home décor items.

Inspirationally, she is the granddaughter of a cotton sharecropper – and today, she is the founder of a global lifestyle brand with products made of cotton.

As an entrepreneur who has bootstrapped her business, she is a “first” in many ways

  • the first Black American global lifestyle brand focused on the allergen-aware consumer
  • a thought leader on ‘clean living’ as author of two best-selling books
  • the first woman in 2008 to license her eponymous brand to eco-friendly kitchen cabinetry sold by over 400 independent dealers nationwide, generating over $82 million revenue

In 2020, she was selected to the INC magazine list of “Top 100 Female Founders” and later that year, the CLEAN DESIGN HOME® rebranding was launched on the ELLEN show for a “12 Days of Christmas Giveaway”.

Discovered in 2005 by Oprah’s team, her firm has had several projects published or profiled in media.

Overcoming adversity, focusing on a goal and a strong work ethic are the foundation to her success. Her intentional mission is to ensure she honors her ancestors, while also helping to carve a path for future entrepreneurs.

Ms. Wilson is from Austin, Texas. She began her career at Mercer Management Consulting in Boston and finished her corporate jobs at Heidrick & Struggles in New York after an IPO provided a windfall – allowing her to pivot and to chase her entrepreneurial dream. Graduate of New York University (MS, RE Finance); University of Texas at Austin (BA, History/Economics).
