This week, after some needed accountability from Papa Bear, we explore the tension between logic and emotion, the challenge of vulnerability, and what happens when the coping mechanisms that once protected us start getting in the way. We talk about therapy, emotional avoidance, grief, self-awareness, identity, personal growth, and the uncomfortable process of letting people see the parts of ourselves we'd rather keep hidden. Along the way, we discuss relationships, mental health, anxiety, healing, emotional regulation, and the ongoing struggle to balance what we know logically with what we feel emotionally. If you've ever found yourself overthinking instead of feeling, avoiding difficult emotions, or wondering why personal growth can feel so uncomfortable, this conversation is for you. Or not. We're not experts. BUSINESS INQUIRIES: business@shtpod.com Contact us:

Is it politics, masculinity, economic anxiety, or something deeper? This week on Second Hand Therapy, we sit down with Nevada gubernatorial candidate Alexis Hill for a wide-ranging conversation about mental health, the loneliness epidemic, modern masculinity, the rise of the manosphere, Trump voters, working-class struggles, housing affordability, childcare costs, homelessness, foster care, and why so many Americans feel left behind. We explore what young men are actually searching for, why traditional political parties are losing trust, and whether the American Dream is becoming impossible for an entire generation. Alexis also shares her plans for expanding mental health services, addressing Nevada's youth suicide crisis, tackling corporate tax loopholes, regulating AI data centers, and creating economic opportunities for working families. If you've ever wondered why politics feels so broken, why young men are increasingly drawn to strongman personalities, or what mental health and economic insecurity have to do with each other, this conversation is for you. | PTSD and Self-Love with Hanorah | #022 | 01 Jan 2024 | 00:59:53
Support the boys: Trigger Warning: This episode contains discussions related to sexual assault. We welcome Hanorah to the sleuth to discuss all things anxiety, PTSD, self-love and more! Hanorah is multidisciplinary artist based out of a small studio filled with cats, canvases, and glittered tape recorders in Montreal’s west end. With years of touring under her belt (including several television appearances and supporting the likes of Mavis Staples and Lee Fields), she recently took time to plunge back into song writing and forge a new musical direction. What emerged was a collection of songs highlighting the overlap between maturity and the enduring charm of playfulness. Music that journeys through emotions of the past and present, as she blurs the lines between the recurring cycles of time, choice, and circumstance. In short, her first full length album ‘Perennial’. A work packed with soulful ballads and RnB grooves as it digs deeper into Hanorah’s musical roots to explore the lush tones and textures of her voice. Influenced by the likes of Etta James and Joni Mitchell, the combination of Hanorah’s powerful voice and the vulnerability of her messaging naturally drew her to soul music. Following an early record deal, she released her debut EP ‘For The Good Guys And The Bad Guys’ in 2019. The record amassed over a million streams, won her several awards, and helped her tour extensively through Canada and the U.S. In 2022, Hanorah released her debut album Perennial through Ensoul records. In its initial month, the first singles amassed over 50,000 streams on Spotify and 60,000 views on YouTube. The release was met with wide anticipation. It was featured on over 20 radio stations across Canada and multiple spots on editorial playlists through Spotify. Exclaim! Magazine listed the album as a ‘staff pick’ for 2022 and she performed several tracks on the hit Quebec TV show Belle et Bum. The band is currently on tour supporting the album, with stops at Liverpool Sound City and Focus Wales in the UK, as well as Los Angeles, CA (Pop Montreal) and Austin, TX (SXSW).
