She also battled a Coca-Cola addiction, but managed to quit the habit and began working with a friend who encouraged her to consistently run again. She regained her health, losing 80 pounds, but faced another setback with knee problems leading to surgeries and a temporary halt to running. Meredith shares her emotional struggle during this period and how she felt isolated from the running community. However, with perseverance and physical therapy, she managed to return to running and even joined the Run for God run club which provided a supportive community.
Meredith also identifies the importance of not taking running for granted and maintaining a healthy sense of perspective, viewing running as part of her identity rather than its entirety.
