Overdue Rentals – Details, episodes & analysis

The name Willie Pep might not spark a memory for many of you, but if you are a boxing fan and you don't know Willie, the you need to check out The Featherweight. The new film starring James Madio as Pep is starting its run in cinemas and you shouldn't miss it. While we had Madio with us to talk about the film, we also had to talk about his role in 1992's Hero. And of course, we had to see if that story about Dustin Hoffman plucking him from the set of Hook to play his son in Hero is true.

It Ends With Us is taking the box office by storm. We were lucky enough to have the film's producer, Alex Saks join us to talk about the process of getting such a film off the ground. We also took time to talk about one of her first gigs as a producer on the criminally underseen, Thoroughbreds.

There are few actors out there with such a wide range and ability that allows audiences to see them in so many different lights. The good guy, the bad guy, the wing man, the loner, the neurotic, the strong willed...the list would go on forever if I listed all the options. One person with this quality is the great David Hyde Pierce. David appears in the new horror/drama The Exorcism along side Russell Crowe. And what better way to celebrate an exorcism film by following up the conversation with a dive into the "Pillow Talk" revival, Down With Love.

Marguerite Moreau dropped into the shop to talk about her new film, Monuments and also discuss the 1998 Barry Levinson star studded political satire, Wag the Dog. It's simply amazing that Alan Parker's 1991 masterpiece, The Commitments, is not talked about now, as much as it was when it was released. We have Jimmy O. of JoBlo.com with us to reminisce over this nugget of pure joy from 1991. Get ready to sing along, as once you start talking about The Commitments, you too will be committed to singing your soul out!  

This week, we're talking about the late 1900s classic from writer/director Tom Tykwer, Run Lola Run. Our good friend, Alec Kubas-Meyer of The Week I Review is with us to discuss this stylistic German film that took the world by storm upon its release. Go Speed Racer, go! Emile Hirsch is with us today to discuss his new film, Murder in the Switchgrass, which will be in select theaters and on demand this Friday, July 23rd. While we had Mr. Hirsch in the Overdue Rentals shop with us, we took a look back on the now cult phenomenon, 2008's Speed Racer. Of course, we couldn't let Emile go without getting some extra bits about his other past works, including his time on the set of Quinten Tarantino's, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. ENJOY!  

You've probably seen it already or you know so many people who told you it is a must see...well, we're here to tell you the same. Even if you've seen Jacob's Ladder in the past, you have to watch it again. We are joined by film maker Victoria Negri to dive back into this 1990 classic that even when appreciated, needs more attention.
