Welcome to the Move-the-Dirt podcast.  A show aimed at helping people live happier and more fulfilling lives.

Based on the Move the Dirt concept referred to by ex-NFL player John Welbourn,  the concept is simple.  By making the maximum effort that the circumstances of a particular day allow us to do, we keep making progress and move ever closer to our goals and hopefully a happier and more fulfilling life.

Same days we will use a shoval to move the dirt and somedays we will only be able to use a spoon....just keeping moving forward.

Episode #2 - with Chris Sloan

Season 1 · Episode 2

dimanche 18 mai 2025Duration 35:23

In this episode I speak with Chris Sloan.

Chris and I first met on Instagram.  We are both on health improvement / body transformation / weight loss journeys.

Chris and I break down what is working well for us and what we are struggling with.  We hope that listening to this conversation will help listeners and perhaps answer some questions you may have about your own journeys.

Chris talks about how food prep is really helping him.  Chris is using a calorie controlled approach to weight loss.  He takes lots of his meal prep receipe inspiration from @jalalsamfit on Instagram.

At the time of recording Chris had lost an incredible 15KGs since the start of 2025.  At the time of publishing his total weight loss now exceeds 20KGs.

You can follow Chris's journey on Instagram and Tiktok where he can be found via @chrisfitnessjourney12

Enjoy!

Best wishes,

Bill

Episode #4 - with Heather Foley.

Season 1 · Episode 4

vendredi 6 juin 2025Duration 50:43

In this episode I speak with Heather Foley.

Heather is a recently retired Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist who previously worked within the NHS, the Military and the private sector.

Due to a series of major traumas early in Heather’s life, including 10 concussions, PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) and EDS (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome), (which lead to increased anxiety, hyper reactivity and an inability to self regulate), she went down a rabbit hole of mental health and diet research.  Listening to Dr Michael Lewis was one of her first “aha” moments regarding the importance of diet; specifically brain food, relative to her ongoing mental health issues. This led to Heather exploring and starting the Ketogenic diet around 2010 and subsequently the carnivore way of eating in May 2018. The results were remarkable.  Heather is now focused on researching the Ketogenic diet in more depth, as well as working with individuals and groups to inspire them on their own ketogenic journey. Heather also teaches yoga, emotional freedom technique (EFT) and breath work (Oxygen advantage instructor).

Heather has completed training with both Dr Georgia Ede on Ketogenic diets for mental health in clinical training and the Nutrition Network Medical Certification Pathway training, via the Professor Tim Noakes foundation. She has discovered that there are a lot of conferences and trainings for the academic in this space, but nothing like Keto Brain Health for the people who need it most.

She therefore feels very honoured to be able to offer listeners the knowledge and inspiration they deserve by founding the World’s first 2-day Keto Brain Health Clinic. Her aim is to Inspire, Reassure and Educate (I.R.E) anyone interested in exploring and starting this journey and those looking for support, by giving them access to experienced specialist speakers within this health space.

The Keto Brain Health clinic will take place 4th - 5th of October 2025 in Edinburgh.  (Further details can be found via the link below).

Heather is the Founder and Director of Keto Brain Health Ltd.

Episode #3 - with Phil Escott.

Season 1 · Episode 3

mardi 27 mai 2025Duration 57:37

In this episode I speak with Phil Escott.

Phil and I first met at the War on Health Conference, where Phil was one of the organisers.  Phil is a very charismatic, humorous character, with a warm infectious personality.

Phil is a lifestyle / health coach. Previously a vegan, Phil later adopted a carnivore diet to cure various health problems, such as autoimmunity and severe arthritis, which had left him in chronic pain.  Interested in health for many years, Phil started a journey of discovery by throwing out all he knew about human nutrition and starting again from scratch.

Phil credits a combination of a carnivore diet, EMF and artificial light avoidance, cold thermogenesis and a range of other health enhancing practices, with reversing what are commonly viewed as ‘incurable diseases’.  In this podcast Phil talks us through many of the practices he adopted on his road to health and wellbeing.  His remarkable recovery led to his Amazon Kindle bestselling book, “Arthritis, The Best Thing that Ever Happened to Me” with forward by the renowned, Dr Jack Kruz.  https://www.amazon.co.uk/ARTHRITIS-Psoriatic-Rheumatoid-Arthritis-Autoimmunity/dp/1976938945

Phil talks from personal experience about contemporary lifestyle, diet choices, disconnection from our ancestral heritage, emotional balancing and the simple, but often misunderstood, spiritual awakening.  He now consults with clients worldwide, helping them to reverse their metabolic and autoimmune issues.
