Mission Shift is a narrative podcast exploring the changing face of global missions. Each season, we talk to Christian leaders and ministry practitioners around the world to learn about a pertinent topic, and then craft a narrative season which brings listeners along in our learning journey. Between seasons, we release long-form versions of our interviews as Bonus Episodes. We encourage you to start with Episode 1 of the Season you are listening to. Season 1 explores what is happening in global missions and the role past mission fields play as missionary forces. Season 2 (releasing in June 2023) explores power dynamics and partnership in global missions. We hope you will join us–and share Mission Shift with those around you–so together we can celebrate what God is doing around His world, and consider how we can make our best contribution in this exciting moment in global missions. Mission Shift is hosted by Carita Chen and Josh Irby, and is a production of Cru City’s Global team. We would love to journey with you as you explore and engage in the changing face of global missions. Reach us at MissionShift@Cru.org.

S2 Ep8: Becoming a Person Who Partners Well

Season 2 · Episode 8

jeudi 23 mai 2024Duration 41:52

Season 2, Episode 8: Becoming a Person Who Partners Well

Coming out of Season 1 of Mission Shift, we were left with a nagging question: In this new era of missions–when mission engagement is from everywhere to everywhere–how do we in the West partner well with believers in locations traditionally labeled as mission fields?

Once again, we set out to learn from missions leaders and practitioners from all over the globe. We interviewed 22 men and women engaged in sending and receiving missions to learn about partnership and power dynamics in global missions. Their voices are intertwined across the 8 episodes of this season as–together–we learn and grow.

As we wrap up this season, we take a look inside and consider what it takes to become a person who partners well as we hear from Mary Lederleitner (USA), Andy McCullough (UK), Brian Virtue (USA), Steve Addison (Australia), Slavko Hadžić (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Forrest Inslee (USA), Jim Reed (USA), Justin O’Malley (New Zealand), Greg Lillestrand (USA), Sophia Wang (USA).

The rest of Season 2, as well as bios and links for our hosts and guests can be found at https://www.Cru.org/MissionShift

Mission Shift is a narrative podcast, so we encourage you to listen to each season in order so you catch the full range of voices and wisdom, of encouragement and growth, as we listen to missions leaders and practitioners from around the world.

We interviewed 22 men and women engaged in sending and receiving missions to learn about partnership and power dynamics in global missions. Their voices are intertwined across the 8 episodes of this season as–together–we learn and grow.

In this episode, we continue our journey learning around this topic of power and partnership in global missions, specifically, the role of short term missions in a Greater Together approach to global missions. Much of today’s episode centers around our learning and conversation with Forrest Inslee, co-editor of Re-Imagining Short Term Missions.
