Lets look at a few ways you can save time and money on the editing of your pattern.

—Check spelling
—Double check your abbreviations. Make sure that you are consistent with  their use and that all abbreviations are in your glossary.
—Double check notions to ensure that if it's mentioned in the pattern,  it's listed.
—Give yourself some time and then double check your numbers. Do  stitch/row counts create size suggested.
—Check that Hyperlinks work. Make sure to give credit where credit is  due.

What steps does one go through to write a pattern? How do you go from idea to selling so that others can make your design? I look at some steps involved in the process of Design and Pattern Writing.

I was able to sit and do an in-person interview with Jacky Doyle. She’s a very clever designer from Australia that works a lot in Double-Knitting.

I explore ways to boost and view the creative process and how it applies to fiber design. I also look at my own struggle with creativity and how in recent months I have worked to improve it.

Today we introduce you to our new podcast partner, Tiffany Wooten. Tiffany is a Crochet and Tunisian Crochet Tech Editor with a good many management skills that we need here at Knit Design Edit Sleep Repeat. Hear Tiffany describe her planner page printables as well as other services she provides, and Denise's new venture as an independent author.

We talk with Jill Wolcott of Jill Wolcott Knits, knitwear designer and teacher about her career, new methods of creating multi-sized patterns, and her current and future class offerings.

We talk pattern grading, what it is, how it's done, and what it takes to learn how to do it. I suggest sources for size charts and courses, as well as, discuss what to expect if you wish to hire some one to do the job.

We talk with Erin Clayton, knitwear and graphic designer. She works with other fiber artists to create logos and branding as well as designing beautiful knits. Erin has recently added teaching into the mix. Listen in and learn more of what she has available.

I ask Denise questions about her process for creating the two one-of-a-kind wedding dresses she has made in the last few years. We discuss where the inspiration came from, as well as how she decided on materials, stitches to be used, and how she made all the decisions regarding shape and design. Then we examined what she could do next time so she could write the pattern when she was done.

Denise and I interview her husband, Randy, a former Intellectual Property Attorney about his research, based on US copyright law, on what is and is not copyrightable about patterns, what needs to be in a copyright statement to make it defensible, and what actions you may need to take should there be a question about your copyright.

I try to answer “What is a Style Sheet”, how you create one, and when you may want to use one. 

Denise and I chat with Nathan Taylor, the Sockmatician, about his knit and design story, his inspirations, and his many knit innovations. 

We discuss what a tech editor is, what skills they use, and where you might find training to become a tech editor that works with knit and crochet designs and other forms of writing.

I talked with Eli Saetnan, a knitter and designer that devotes her knitting to charity.
