For me, @survivorAU is For me is simply the greatest game ever invented by humans.

It combines all the strategy and game-theory of a chess match with the hardest CrossFit class you’ve ever done, with all the delicate diplomacy of an intergovernmental climate conference, all while camping for 55 days in the wild in conditions that would make Bear Grylls flinch.

‌

And it’s widely accepted that the greatest player to have ever played the game is an Australian man, whom you may know as @kinggeorgeofbankstown.

To describe him, I would need to tell you about how there were a few times that I played scrabble with the heavy hitters there in Washington square park in NYC, and next to us there were some chess tables.

The players there were absolute weapons. The kind of chess players who could walk past another game, and without breaking step, glance down at the board and say “Black wins in six” before carrying on with their day.

That is what George is like with people.

A former political operative for the State Government, George Mladenov astounded viewers with his incredible game theory and devastating manipulation skills.

In the world of professional surfing, Tom Carroll is a legend. Through the 80s and 90s, he dominated professional surfing, becoming the first surfer to sign a multi-million dollar contract. In 1983 and 1984 he twice achieved the pinnacle of his sport when he became back to back world champion.

But it’s what Tom has achieved out of the water which is possibly even more incredible.

In today’s episode he talks about how he found him self sliding down the slippery slope of addiction, how that addiction began to take everything that he loved away from him, had him trapped in a cycle of drug abuse that was heading towards a very grim end.

But Tom knew he needed help, and thankfully he was able to get that help.

And it was at South Pacific Private that Tom first got help.

I’m no stranger to talking about recovery from drugs and alcohol - it’s a part of my story and a huge reason why I started this show. Because I didn’t know that not drinking and using was an option.

Grace Tame is an Australian of the Year, author, and a voice that's shaking the foundations of our society.

She gained prominence for her advocacy and determination to overturn Tasmanian laws that prevented survivors from speaking out about their experiences through the Let Her Speak campaign.

Until April 6 2020 it was illegal for victims to identify themselves as the victim of such a crime. If they did speak about what happened two them, they could face six months in prison.

The law was probably brought in to protect people from being identified - however if those survivors chose to share their stories, it would be illegal to do so.

In a world where conversations about consent and survivor support are more crucial than ever, Grace has been a driving force in raising awareness and demanding change.

Her courage and determination have paved the way for important discussions that challenge the status quo.

A status quo that does not like to be challenged.

The rancid stacks-on that she’s had to deal with as an adult is utterly shameful. The things she has had to endure for speaking out about her abuse is just too awful to behold.

And the things that happen to her have all been perpetrated by men. Entitled adult men.

Grace Tame is a powerful, brilliant person and I’m so glad you’re going to get a chance to engage with her today.

Have you ever thought about the story behind your favourite band? How did they create their sound, how did they become a world-wide sensation, how did it all start?

In 1994, three young teenage boys from Newcastle, Dan, Ben and Chris aged 14, entered a competition to record a song at the studios of the station Triple J. Little did they know, when Dan’s Mum filled out the entry form and sent it in, along with a cassette tape and a photo of them on a stoop of a house, that they would become world-wide sensations.

Earlier this year I was joined by Ben Gillies and Chris Joannou. This year they wrote and released their book, Love & Pain, which takes you on the journey of silverchair. Silverchair were more than just a band, they were a brotherhood. As they join me for a conversation, I learn about what really made them something special.

Nat's What I Reckon is a Sydney comedian, musician, author and cook.

Nat started a YouTube channel in 2006 and it's grown into an almighty online empire with an audience in the millions. Nat has this overarching message of taking agency and responsibility around your health, your headspace, your mental health, and he's just so wonderful and so wholesome and so sweary.

He’s released four books with his latest out last month called Smash Hit Recipes and you can find him online as Nat’s What I Reckon.

Brad Guy literally fell out of a plane and miraculously survived a skydiving accident. The physical injuries that he suffered from are one thing, but it's Brad's extraordinary story of how devastating a problem that PTSD became in his life, and how he tried to self medicate his way out of it, it's that which is truly compelling.

Brad's extraordinary description not only of his accident, but also the hypervigilance which started to control his life, is something that is unfortunately all too common for people who have experienced trauma in their lives.

If you've been delaying getting help, or there's someone you love who needs help for whatever reasons, but won't seek that help - this episode is full of brilliant truly relatable moments that could just be the thing to change the status quo. Once you hear the kind of horror that Brad was living with day in and day out, and what is life is like now, it's a strong case for the idea that there is actually a way to live your life that's not a constant spiral of pain. And that with help and a commitment to treatment, things can and will get a whole lot better.

The Honourable Leeanne Enoch is the Minister for Treaty, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Minister for Communities and Minister for the Arts in the seat of Algester in Queensland.

Considering the work that she does and the story that she has to tell as the first Aboriginal Australian woman to be elected to the Queensland Parliament, I absolutely jumped at the chance to interview her.

In this episode we discuss growing up in her teenage years, how her and her family experienced racism, what her grandmother taught her about shame and how her career in politics began.

Men, do you ever ask yourself what happens to my wife’s career when the baby comes along? How long will she take off work? Will that time off be beneficial to our family but detrimental to her career? When will she go back to work? Can she go back to work and have the same job requirements as when she left to become a mother?

These are common questions mothers asks themselves over and over, before becoming a mother and once they become a mother.

Today I am joined by Ash London, in 2021 she became a mother to her son Buddy Ray. Before Ash was a mother she was radio talk host shows of a popular night time music show called “Ash London Live”, she travelled the world and interviewed huge stars such Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran to name a few. She was known for her close relationships with these artists because she was so invested in their music and shared the same passion.

Right now Ash is very much wrestling with the idea of having another child and is not afraid to say that she misses work or that a lot of her identity was wrapped up in her work. So why are women afraid to admit that? And why is that a hesitance for mother’s when it comes to trying again for baby number two and growing the family.
