S15EP06: Write a book... for 1 person!05 May 202200:31:05

Laurie is an extraordinary woman. She's been a Chief of Staff for a Fortune 10 company and she wants my advice on the book she's writing. But you know me... I don't play that way!

You see, a great coach provokes their clients thinking, rather than validating it. A great coach gives their clients bigger questions to live into, rather than answering the questions they have for them.

Too many people make the mistake of trying to write a book for a million people. I propose instead that you write a book for ONE person...

S15EP05: It's not often you coach a horseback archer who's a mother of six!28 Apr 202200:31:45

Today I'm talking to a woman I find absolutely fascinating.

Danielle LoDuca trained to do archery – on horseback. Two of the most challenging sports, put together. Talk about a top performer! She's also the mother of 6 children (yes, SIX!), an author, a blogger and a coach.

In this conversation I challenge her thinking from many directions. Instead of answering her question, I dive down deep. Hey, that's the only way I play.

I tell Danielle who she is for me – you can feel how moved she is – and today you get to be a fly on the wall as we have this powerful conversation.

S15EP04: $1,000 a NO!21 Apr 202200:19:36

Shermain's coaching practice is really successful and he wants tips to take it to the next level. But I don't play the way he thinks I am going to play...
Instead of offering strategies to scale his business, I ask him to look back at how he has created success until now. And then I propose that he doubles down on that.
He's surprised – and elated – at the simplicity. And then I take him deeper still with a tool that calculates exactly how much money you are paid, per NO you receive!

S15EP03: Recovering overachiever14 Apr 202200:08:57

Tasha was an educator then and a registered nurse, for 16 years. She's Type A by nature – driven, highly organized, ambitious and impatient.

She starts the coaching session by asking me about how to do less. You see, she doesn't want to go back to her old ways as she builds a successful coaching practice.

I introduce her to a new distinction, “Less but better…”

It’s a game changer for her. And in that moment – 90 seconds after we’ve begun – I realize that she needs to practice this, right now.

So I tell her we’re done!

The best gift you can ever give a client is to create space for insight. The second best gift is to gently push them to turn that insight into action...

S15EP02: A Life-Changing Insight07 Apr 202200:20:07

I can promise any client that they will have a life-changing insight as a result of a coaching experience with me – no matter whether our conversation is 10 minutes long or 90 minutes.

You see, I am listening to my client's listening of the world. And I am looking for how they see the world and I am witnessing how they speak their world into reality.

My client, Soph Chiche, is a journalist, entrepreneur, author and psychologist, who founded a multi-million dollar business and is now building another. In this coaching experience, I listen to her deeply and I see something she cannot see herself. I lean in a little as a share this with her and she leaves with a life-changing insight...

S15EP01: The Flywheel vs The Hamster Wheel31 Mar 202200:16:09

Do you ever feel like you're on the Hamster Wheel of business? The more you do, the more there is to do... The more money you make, the more money you need to make... And as you become more successful, the pressure builds to be even more successful...

Richard shows up on this call with a lot on his mind. He's speaking fast. You can feel his energy. I consciously slow him down and suggest the possibility that the less he does, the more he will make.

He wants to believe me but I tell him not to believe me but instead cast his mind back over his life to see how this principle is already true. He is surprised at what he finds.

And in less than ten minutes, we are there. Sometimes Speed Coaching can have as much impact as Deep Coaching...

Today's episode features the Master Coaching with Ajit podcast. On this episode Ajit Nawalkha and I have a conversation about entrepreneurship, coaching skills, and building a successful coaching business. In order to thrive in the coaching industry, you must put in effort for a long period of time before feeling like it is working. S14EP02: Leverage10 Mar 202200:24:32

One of the most common things I see in top performers is a desire to do more, to create more and to have more impact.

However, what makes the biggest difference for high-achievers is to slow down enough to discover the tiniest steps that make the biggest difference. They feel lazy when they operate from their Zone of Genius but it's often the path to their next level of success.

Sarah is hugely accomplished and very successful at almost everything she puts her mind to. In this coaching session, you will see me slow her down, to help her make the impact she was born to make...

Christopher Maher is a former Navy SEAL, a former Olympic athlete and a member of 4PC. We have actually coached one other for over 8 years. And I use his techniques almost every day, to remove stress from my system—physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Today I coach Christopher over how to live a life on his own terms, while still making a big difference in the world and for his clients.

S13EP08: What are your metrics for success?06 Jan 202200:17:33

When we get in our car, we pay attention to the dials in front of us. Is the check engine light on? How's the tire pressure? Do I need gas? Or we don't pay attention... I got a speeding ticket the other day because I didn't keep my eyes on the speedometer.

Today I am coaching an extraordinary woman called Nikki. She's a diversity consultant, a coach and a musician.

And she is hitting a ceiling on the level of her success that she perceives as a tension between who she thinks she is and who she is becoming.

What's actually happening is that she is up-leveling her life and business — but she is still living based on some outdated measures of success.

Today, I help Nikki create some new metrics for success. As you listen in, I invite you to create some new metrics for your own next level of success.

S13EP07: Your clients are NOT paying you for your time23 Dec 202100:07:57

I have a handful of Thinking Partner clients. They invest $47K for around 5 months. I have 1-2 Concierge Trusted Advisor clients a year who invest $185K to have access to me when they need it. You may be surprised at how little they need that access. And My Thinking Partner clients are often complete way before our 30 minute calls are complete.

But here's the thing, my clients are NOT paying for my time. They are paying for their insights. And their insights are priceless.

Today you can listen to my shortest podcast episode yet. The coaching itself takes around 3 minutes. But my client, Sophie—a highly successful corporate consultant—leaves with everything she needs.

S13EP04: Show up as a leader11 Nov 202100:08:09

I know that Philippa is an extraordinary woman because from the moment she joined Transition Excellence, she drew out the leadership of others in making sure everyone had an incredible experience. When I saw her LinkedIn page, I was impressed with her track record as a leader and an educator in the corporate world and as a consultant.

So I decided to challenge her, the moment she joined me on the call.

Within two minutes she has a powerful insight—and we are done.

S13EP03: Be Remarkable04 Nov 202100:38:22

Oh this was fun! You see, I start to chat to Ervine before we hit record and she makes a little joke about me mistaking her for a high-performer. I immediately ask if I can start recording because I want to illustrate something important.

Marianne Williamson captured it in her poem: "Our deepest fear is not that we are weak. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us."

Too often, I see leaders fighting for their limitations. And that's always when I jump in.

Ervine is a fascinating woman with a background in high-level sales. She has had a successful career that was built one relationship at a time. When I ask her how many coaching clients she wants, she is a little surprised to realize that it is no more than 12 clients a year.

In this episode you'll hear me breakdown 5 of the top ways to build a word-of-mouth business. Masterclasses, other people's communities, former networks, referrals and creating your own community.

When you are remarkable, it literally means that people remark about you. They talk about you when you are not there. That is the platinum standard for any business. Listen in as I teach you how to make your business remarkable, too.

S13EP02: Put courage over comfort28 Oct 202100:22:50

Stephanos is a consultant to high-level leaders with a background in the corporate world. He is one of the pioneer members of Transition Excellence—my community of high-level leaders transitioning into high-level coaching and consulting.

As I draw out his story, I discover that he's been a risk-taker his whole career. He thinks he wants to be comfortable. He doesn't. He needs to keep creating a life of courage.

One of my favorite moments is when he describes the fun he has making something up—like a new proposal for a corporation—and then watching as people sign up. He has tapped into my secret business plan... "Make sh*t up!"

S13EP01: Stop practicing!21 Oct 202100:24:30

Anu is a consultant to high-level organizations and their leadership teams. She's an incredible woman who has literally been a leader since the age of 6. But right now she is holding back from telling these leaders what they REALLY need to hear.

So, I have to step into leadership myself.
I need to model for her the power of saying, "Here's what I require of you..." By the end of the conversation we are both fully energized.

Sometimes being on mission is scary. But you've got this. Not everyone needs to like you. But you need to speak truth to power. That's how we change the world.

S12EP05: A powerful conversation about love14 Oct 202100:23:14

S12EP04: The Power of a Powerful Woman07 Oct 202100:32:33

Four of the most powerful words you can ever say to a client are, "Tell me your story..."

Tatiana was a Managing Director of an investment bank, where she was responsible for managing billions of dollars of assets. She is now a high-level coach and consultant.

But this wasn't a clear path.

Tatiana grew up behind the Iron Curtain, at a time when the Soviet Union was a socialist state and controlled every aspect of a person's life and career.

But Tatiana is a rule breaker.

When you tell her she can't do something, a voice in her head immediately responds, "I'll show you..." And she has made a career of doing things that most people said were impossible.

Today, I help her draw out her story by seeking the golden threads that go all the way back to her childhood. This is a powerful tool for you, as you share your own story with clients. And it's also an incredible tool, to use with your own clients...

S12EP03: The Thinking Partnership01 Oct 202100:30:00

As a coach, you need to continually re-invent the way you work with clients. Over years of coaching highly successful people, I have seen that the more successful people become, the less they are able to have truly high-level conversations.

They've outgrown their peers. They're surrounded by people who are impressed with everything they do and who say yes to everything they say. And they rarely have anyone willing to challenge their thinking.

This is why I created The Thinking Partnership—because if you are super sharp you may not need deep coaching. I designed The Thinking Partnership as an unorthodox way to help highly successful leaders who don't want a year of coaching—or business owners who don't have time for weekly hour long sessions.

Thinking Partnership sessions are short, sharp and highly-focused. We schedule thirty minutes but often clients are done in ten.

Today you get to listen in on a Thinking Partnership session with Sarah.

Sarah has run a successful strategic leadership consultancy for 30 years. Her first book was published almost 25 years ago and she has a track record coaching leaders in the corporate world. How could I possibly help Sarah? The thing is, I don't need to.

In a Thinking Partnership, I listen deeply and I provoke your thinking. With a high-performer, the insights are a given! Join us while I do this for Sarah and for you, at the very same time...

Alina is a very courageous woman, with a 20 year career in high level finance behind her. She was a Managing Director at Rothschild & Co, responsible for €3 billion of assets under management. She's a also a mother, raising a high-functioning autistic son.

"If you only read one book on coaching, you have to read The Prosperous Coach..." That's what Alina's friend said to her. And, only a couple of years later, it's why Alina is now a member of 4PC, my exclusive community of high-level leaders.

And as Alina asks me for advice on her book, I come from the premise that the sole purpose of her book should be to create something that has her dream clients say "If you only read one book on leadership, you have to read The Audacity Spectrum..."

S11EP06: “I am more committed to other people than I am to myself…”02 Sep 202100:39:16

As coaches and consultants, we are committed to making a difference and making an impact, and changing people's lives. Too often we do this at a cost to ourselves.

Join me as a fly on the wall for an intimate conversation, as I coach two women leaders...

In today’s episode:

  • Going silent and still while acknowledging human moments
  • Recognizing what holds you back the most
  • What if you got everything you wanted?
  • Creating boundaries for yourself so you’re not the weak link in the chain
  • Boundaries aren’t meant to constrain but to set you free
  • Slow down to speed up and be okay with just being
  • Finite vs. infinite games and advice for the game of life
  • Taking on less to achieve and receive more

S11EP05: You DON'T need clarity...26 Aug 202100:27:24

I grew up in London, where some nights it was so foggy I could only see a few yards ahead in front of my face.

Despite the darkness and the fog, I could still regularly drive the 10 miles to my home.

Life is much like that. It would be nice to have clarity 10 years into the future about exactly what's
going to happen but it doesn't really work like that.

Today I mess with the thinking of two successful coaches and business owners.
I show them that they are looking for clarity in the wrong direction!

You and your clients are probably doing so, too...

S11EP04: You can always fly home tomorrow...19 Aug 202100:37:19

There's no intro to today's coaching session because I jumped straight into a conversation with these two powerful men. My intuition told me to ask each of them to tell me what the other most needs.

I had no idea what would happen next. But that's where the magic almost always is, in life—when you have no idea what is coming next. We talked about the dark side of our gifts, we talked about marketing, we talked about when my relationship with Monique ended around 12 years ago (spoiler alert: we got back together) and we talked about why having an elevator pitch is a complete and utter waste of time!

This might just be one of my favorite coaching podcasts, yet.

S11EP03: You can do scared…12 Aug 202100:25:41

Today I’m coaching Barbara and I begin by drawing out her story.

I discover that she’s an incredibly courageous woman, which is valuable because she then tries to enroll me in a story about how scared she is...

Often our job as a coach is not much more than to NOT buy into the stories our clients are living into.

By the time we are complete she’s had a powerful insight moment and I say “cut!” to my editor.

But I notice Barbara make an audible sigh and relax into her chair.

So I keep the camera rolling. We continue to talk and we go even deeper.

This is becoming so common that I think I might make it a standing agreement, when I record these podcasts, that when I say cut we keep the cameras rolling anyway to see what else will come out! Enjoy…

Today, I am coaching two talented high performers. Jeff gives his all to everything he does in life—from coaching to business to writing to endurance races. But he is paying a price for being so driven. Kimberley has just reached out to two highly successful leaders she knows and wants to know what it means that she has heard nothing. Well, when you hear nothing after making a bold proposal it means... NOTHING!

I begin today's coaching conversation with a story. Stories are a really fun way to create the space for insight for your client. And then I introduce Martin to my favorite coaching tool. In fact, if I was only allowed to use a single tool with my clients, for the rest of my life, this would be it... Here's a link to download the tool for yourself.

S10EP07: "You're not afraid to be seen but you work hard not to be visible..."22 Jul 202100:33:40

Varian was a high-level sales executive who did $750 million in sales, during her corporate career. She was driven and she was not afraid to speak her truth to anyone. But what most people never knew was that her drive came from having a son at 17 years old. At that moment, she made a decision to be successful, no matter what, so that he would never want for anything in his life. And what most people never knew is that Varian's father died when she was just 9 years old. She was devastated. And she made a decision to disconnect emotionally from everyone, so she'd never be hurt again.

It turns out that a combination of drive and a lack of emotion make you a force to be reckoned with in the corporate world.

Varian is a fascinating woman who isn't afraid to be seen and yet she has worked incredibly hard not to be visible. She has one of the smallest online footprints I have ever seen. And yet her events are sold out a year in advance. Today I draw out Varian's story to help her see her own power and impact. And to help her become known in a way that she cannot yet imagine...

S10EP06: "I asked Steve Jobs to mentor me. He said yes."15 Jul 202100:36:04

Kelli is one of the smartest, most connected people I know. She has worked in a high level in Hollywood and also in Silicon Valley. At 16 years old, Steve Jobs become her mentor. In this conversation, Kelli wanted my help to draw out her story. But underneath her story I see a pinpoint of darkness. A tiny place that is holding her back from her next level of success. So, of course, that's where I go...

S10EP05: "You're not blind. You see the world differently."08 Jul 202100:54:33

I lead an experience for clients called "Branded by Rich Litvin." They invest $9,000 and in around 30 minutes, I draw out their story. I'm not a branding expert and I'm not a copywriter but I am gifted at drawing out people's stories. And what gets clients REALLY interested in you is YOUR story. We all have one.

Today you'll hear me take Parham through a "Branded" experience. He's a fascinating man who was born blind in Iran, 30 years ago. He is now a leader, manager and coach. And an expert in software engineering. In most countries, when you are legally blind, this is classified as a disability. But Parham isn't disabled. He sees the world differently. And that is an incredible gift – for his team and for his clients...

S10EP03: Over obligated and under committed24 Jun 202100:16:28

Tim is a member of Transition Excellence, my program for helping high-level leaders becoming high-level coaches. He's in 3 different coach trainings and he's feeling a sense of sadness and guilt that he's not been playing full out in all of them. I help him have a new way of looking at things and the heaviness that has been weighing him down seems to evaporate.

Have you ever been distracted when coaching a client? Me, too. And in this episode, I get distracted by my camera that keeps auto-focusing on the back wall and not on me! But you'll see me catch my own distraction and speak it out loud to Tim. This enables me to immediately get present again.

S9EP06: You don't need no stinkin' clarity!03 Jun 202100:20:34

The two things that your clients will tell you they need most are: clarity and confidence.

Don't believe them...

In today's episode I will show you why, as I coach Eric, a former lawyer—who just wants more clarity. And I coach Micha—the owner of boutique communication agency that specializes in the German luxury car market—who is in need of more confidence.

As you'll hear, I mess with their thinking. I show them that both clarity and confidence are a place to come FROM, not a place to get TO..

S9EP03: The Other Side of Fear13 May 202100:25:03

How do you coach a client who says, "Life's great. I'm sorry that I don't have anything to be coached on, today..."?

I love those moments. You see, for most people, coaching is remedial. Tell me your problem. Let me help you solve it. Repeat.

For me, coaching is not remedial but generative. "You don't have a problem. That's great! Let's have a chat and see what occurs..."

Today, I coach two fascinating women who are members of my program, Transition Excellence. What they both discover is that there is a powerful desire on the other side of their dreams, if they are willing to step into the fear...
