After struggling to implement the ketogenic diet as a treatment for mental illness for a long time I have finally started having some success. In this episode I explain how intermittent fasting, time spend following the diet, and lowering my medications have helped me get my ketone levels up into the therapeutic range.

In this episode I will be interviewing Abbot Tryphon on the subject of the importance of male friendships. We will also be discussing the Salish Brotherhood of St. John the Wonderworker. Abbot Tryphon is the founder of All-Merciful Saviour Monastery and author of the well-known blog The Morning Offering. One of the themes that he often talks about is the importance of male friendships. Human society was historically communal in nature. In today's society mankind has become atomized resulting in an epidemic of loneliness. As part of an effort to combat this trend Abbot Tryphon created the Salish Brotherhood of St. John the Wonderworker, a lay brotherhood comprised of young men who hold retreats at All-Merciful Saviour Monastery on a bi-annual basis. The Brotherhood is meant to create a supportive environment for its members to grow in the Faith, and is a place where its members can form friendships that are meant to last for a lifetime. In our interview we will talk about the origin of the Salish Brotherhood and its activities, as well as the subject of male friendships in general.

Today we are going to have a conversation with Raphael Fiedler from the YouTube channel Orthodox Review "the most uneducated educational show on the internet." His channel is a valuable resource for Orthodox Christians when it comes time to buy a prayer book, among other books and items which may be used for devotion in the home. The basic premise of his channel is to provide reviews for such items available for purchase so that we can make our purchases based on an informed decision. He could probably be considered the best informed person on the internet when it comes to Orthodox prayer books, and for that reason part of our discussion will be centered around prayer books and our preferences regarding them, but our discussion will by no means be limited to this topic. The internet is home to many and varied subcultures, and Orthodoxy on the internet is no exception. Embedded in the heart of the Orthodox YouTube subculture is Jerry from the channel Exposing Powerful Lies. Jerry is a moderator for many channels, including that of Jay Dyer, and he seems to have his finger on the pulse of whatever might be going down on YouTube. I have invited Jerry on the channel to talk about another subject entirely, however, because one of Jerry's areas of expertise is foraging. It is a well established fact that foraging (sometimes called 'wildcrafting') is the healthiest way to source ones food, whether it be harvesting plants growing in nature or harvesting wild game. In this stream Jerry is going to be sharing with us some of his knowledge about foraging. This is actually a very good skill to have for Orthodox Christians because we often read in the lives of Saints that such-and-such Saint would survive on whatever plants they would find growing in the wild (usually these were desert dwellers). On the off chance that somebody watching this stream might one day find themselves living the life of a hermit and foraging for their food, they will be able to say that it was Jerry from EPL that got them started.

We are very fortunate today to have as a guest Klaus Kenneth. Klaus has an incredible life story to share with us, which has been outlined in his autobiographical book "Born to Hate Reborn to Love." He has experienced so much in his life that you would think that he had lived three or four lifetimes. Klaus came from adverse conditions in his childhood and grew up having hatred in his heart. He passed through time as the leader of gang, a terrorist, and a junkie before moving on to a period of time when he developed interest in spiritual things. He spent seven years in India studying Hinduism before moving on to the practice of Buddhism. Having reached Nirvana and seeing demons with the naked eye, he then moved on to a study of the occult. After a miraculous occurrence in which he was saved from certain death by firing squat at the last minute he finally came to be Christian. That was when he met St. Sophrony of Essex, one of the greatest Saints of the 20th century. St. Sophrony became his spiritual father and led him into the Orthodox Church. I had the pleasure of meeting Klaus in 2014 when he was touring the United States and giving talks. Indeed, Klaus travels all over the world inspiring Christians with his tale and the insights he has gained from all he has experienced in life. Thank you, Klaus, for being my guest!

Today I welcome on as a guest the well known Fr. John Whiteford, rector of Saint Jonah Orthodox Church in Spring, Texas. Fr. John is an expert in liturgics, serving as the editor for the annual St. Innocent Liturgical Calendar (a resource which explains how to put together the services of the Church). I have drawn the inspiration for the topic of today's interview from an article which Fr. John wrote called "Building a Liturgical Library," (link below). We will be discussing what books one would desire to acquire, and in what order, if one were to begin building a liturgical library for home or parish use. We will also discuss why is it not only clergy who can learn about liturgics, but also laymen. Some people may have such a reverence for holy things that they leave Church services to the experts, ordained clergy. They think that if they were to touch a liturgical book they might be struck down dead like Uzzah who touched the Ark of the Covenant. On the contrary, it is absolutely appropriate for laymen to learn how to put together a service, even if it is only for personal observances in the home. The services of the Church are a source of inspiration, edification, and instruction in the Faith. Learning how to serve the daily vespers at home when there might not be a corporate service at your parish is, for many, a good way to help keep their focus on God.

Today we welcome to the channel best-selling author Michael Witcoff, who has just recently published his third book titled "Fascism Viewed From the Cross." With this book Michael is firmly establishing himself as an author, following the publication of his first book "On the Masons and Their Lies" and his second book "Theopoetica." His latest work is a side by side comparison of the Orthodox approach to political life and three nationalist movements from the 20th century. This book is especially timely because the political environment of today has many similarities to the environments that led the creation of nationalist movements in the past. Thus by studying these historical movements we can better understand our situation today and how we ought to approach them as Orthodox Christians.

Brother Nathanael is a monastic with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Of Russia (ROCOR) where he is blessed by his Bishop, Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco, to pursue his public ministry. Brother Nathanael speaks and writes as a former Jew--now an Orthodox Christian--and not in any official capacity with ROCOR. After eight years of monastic communal life (1996-2005), Brother Nathanael has been engaged in a public mission through his Street Evangelism and as an Internet publicist in order to bring a Christian consciousness and influence into every sphere of American life.

On Sunday, June 25th, 2023, I conducted this interview with "The Unknown Iconographer." The subject would only agree to be interviewed on the condition of anonymity, in keeping with the ancient iconographic tradition. The iconographer tells of his journey as an Okie who became a Christian and moved to Russia in the mid-1990's soon after the fall of the Soviet Union. He came to Russia to perform works of charity, such as feeding the hungry, but eventually was exposed to Orthodox Christianity and began to study iconography. He studied under two Master iconographers: Maxim Chrnychov in Moscow and Sergei Vershinin in Siberia. After being told that he had "the grace of a housepainter with the brush" and going through a year of obedience, he was finally allowed to pick up a brush and begin painting. He learned how to stop "copying" icons and rather began "composing" them. He was told to follow the path of the "silent liturgy" and the "music of color." He has now repatriated to the United States and continues to paint icons.

I've been taking the antipsychotic medicine Seroquel for over 20 years. This drug has severely impaired my ability to function in life. The side effects have gotten so bad that I'm not sure which is worse, the symptoms of the disease or the side effects of the medication. Because the side effects have gotten so bad my hand was forced to try and find an alternative treatment, and I have been using Ketogenic Metabolic Therapy as a way to treat my illness in an attempt to get off these medications. We are bringing back Nathaniel onto the channel. In his last appearance we discussed the time he spent on Mt. Athos. Chuck and I became friends on Facebook and I always read his posts there with great interest. He writes brief articles covering many different aspects of Church life, and they are always well written and highly informed. Chuck has an excellent grasp of the practical aspects of church life. Jerry Marzinsky is a licensed psychotherapist who spent many years working in psychiatric hospitals and becoming familiar with the phenomena associated with mental illness such as hallucinations. He came to the conclusion that these voices are not something that is created by our own brains, but that they come from outside of us. He believes the voices are demons.The idea that voices come from demons is something that many Orthodox Christians firmly believe. It very neatly lines up with our spiritual worldview. Nathaniel is an Orthodox Christian living in Thessaloniki, Greece. He traveled from the United States to Mount Athos—with the blessing of the Holy Monastery of the Great Lavra—to explore Orthodox spiritual life and discern whether he should become a monk or remain a layman. He spent 500 days immersed in monastic life, giving voice lessons to about 40 Athonite monks to help them chant the divine services more beautifully. Over time, through prayer and spiritual guidance, he realized he was not meant to remain on Mount Athos permanently, at that time.After leaving the Holy Mountain, he moved to Thessaloniki. A relatively new YouTube channel called Tribulation Saints has exploded onto the scene with a bang. Marko Trickovic, the host of the channel, is covering a wide array of topics that pertain to Orthodox Christians. Some of his recent videos have covered a story that came out recently about how the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia has been targeted by politicians within our own government. In today's episode we will attempt to cover this story from a broad scope. We will discuss the current persecution of the Church in Ukraine, the situation that led up to it, and how that indirectly has led to the current soft persecution of our church in America. Daniel is a professional Tamada (toastmaster in the context of a Georgian Supra) and was also my guide on my recent trip to Georgia. While in Georgia our group had the privilege of attending multiple Supra dinners with professional Tamadas in order to see how these feasts are supposed to be done. We also toured some of Georgia's cities, monasteries, and countryside and had an incredible trip. In today's stream we will recount our trip to Georgia and as well as launch into a discussion on the tradition of the Supra.Daniel also has a business called the Supra Dinner Society. Their business is to host Supra dinners, bringing this tradition to the States. Part of their business is to offer guided tours of Georgia on an annual basis, as well as to teach people how to become a Tamada so that we can bring this tradition home and share it with more people. Fr. Chris is an American Patriot who has given quite a bit of thought about what it means to be American Orthodox, and today we will be asking questions to dive into this topic to reveal exactly what those thoughts that he has been pondering are. Other topics of discussion we will delve into are hot topics for today: nationalism, Christian nationalism, and even white nationalism. Are these phenomena compatible with the Orthodox worldview? Hopefully we will get to the bottom of some of these issues.

Today we spoke with Fr. John Claypool and covered a multitude of topics, including his background working for US intelligence, the circumstances regarding the removal Patriarch Irinaeos from his position as Patriarch of Jerusalem, the sale of Church property which eventually was used for the US embassy in Jerusalem, the persecution of Christians in the middle east and elsewhere, and the correct approach to evangelizing non-Orthodox in the west.

Fr. Emmanuel is the rector of St. Katherine Orthodox Chapel in Stowe, Vermont. This beautiful chapel was the first purpose-built Orthodox Church in Vermont. Vermont is known to be one of the least religious state's in the nation, and today we are going to hear the story of how this parish came to be. Some of the questions which will be covered is how the local population received the building of this community, what challenges they faced, and any illustrative anecdotes or stories that happened along the way.

Belief in conspiracy theories has become common, with at least half of all Americans believing in conspiracies of one form or another. In a sense the conspiracy worldview has been normalized, presented as an alternative to the mainstream worldview. But are we really accomplishing anything by giving our attention to conspiracies, or is it just a distraction? Nick Hinton spent many years in the conspiracy community, has researched it thoroughly, and even wrote several books on the subject, and so he is perhaps one of the most qualified candidates to speak on this topic. Cyprian is a man who has his fingers on the pulse. I have been following his account on X closely as of late, where he has been highlighting the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence. He has been commenting on AI for a number of years and some of his ideas about it have become mainstream views in the Orthosphere. One of his ideas is that AI is a demonic influence. More recently Cyprian has commented on the phenomenon of "AI psychosis," alternatively known as "ChatGPT psychosis." This is a phenomenon where people who spend a lot of time in conversation with AI chatbots become detached from reality in a state of mind resembling psychosis. Cyprian attributes this to a subtle form of demonic possession. I think this is a very intriguing idea and in todays interview we are going to be unpacking all of this.Cyprian is a man of many talents. He is a spiritual son of Fr. Turbo and lives in Saipan where he works as a software developer. He formerly was a reality television star on Showtime's hit series Gigolos. He is also a philosopher and is very involved in the Bitcoin and cryptocurrency community as a builder. These are just a few of the many things he is involved in and I feel very blessed to host him as a guest.

It's incredible that I haven't done a stream on this topic before, given my love of monasticism. Today we will give a brief rundown of how one goes about setting up a visit (pilgrimage) to a monastery. Then we will talk about what to do when you arrive, how to act, and how to dress during your stay.

Many people are hesitant to pay a visit to a monastery, but this practice is an integral aspect of your life as an Orthodox Christian. Some people assert, and I agree, that Orthodox Christians should pay a visit to a monastery at least once a year as a way to deepen their faith. Monasticism is the bulwark of Christianity, and coming into contact with this way of life almost always strengthens the spiritual life of those who remain living in the world. It truly is a blessing that laymen are allowed to visit monasteries, where we can taste to a small degree the blessedness of the life of those who have left the world behind them. Let us strive to emulate their way of life as best as we can by bringing home the lessons we learn while at our places of pilgrimage.

Robert is an Orthodox Christian who has been diagnosed with the same mental illness as I have, which is Schizo-affective disorder. While I have been living with this illness for decades, Robert has only recently begun the battle of living with a mental illness. Both of us have already found similar coping mechanisms for healing from mental illness, such as using metabolic therapies (the ketogenic diet) and living a spiritual life in the tradition of Orthodox Christian spirituality. Much to everybody's surprise Donald Trump launched his own memecoin during the Presidential crypto ball which was held last Friday in DC. The next day Melania launched a memecoin. Both coins surged to billion dollar valuation almost immediately.
