2023 Humbled Me06 Dec 202300:26:11

2023 did not go as planned– to a comical degree.

To be honest, I’m still processing it. I’d love to say that I have some big, grand lesson to share, but I’m not sure I’m at the end of this chapter yet (though I sense I am).

I don’t mean to be cryptic, and I promise to share more details, but the shift I have experienced is hard to describe. It feels like my identity has changed at a deep level affecting every area of my life in ways I never expected.

I spent 2023 experimenting. I knocked things down. I made a mess. I canceled what was supposed to be our biggest launch ever right in the middle of it. I launched an e-commerce site. As I’ve said many times, this year I was the Goldilocks of business models.

It was humbling. Oof. In the best possible way. And not just in business.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering

  • The 3 Actions you need to take this week to book a client
  • A free mini service
  • Sending personal messages to anyone who ever has wanted to work with you

Ep. 65 Empathy Journal12 Jun 202300:07:24

On this week's episode, I am sharing my absolute #1 copywriting tip for coming up with language that connects on a VISCERAL level with your target audience.

We are talking about the psychological phenomenon called the Curse of Knowledge that is preventing you from connecting with your ideal clients on a deeply, emotional, visceral level!  Unless you step outside of your point of view, your marketing messaging is going to come form your  point of view. To step outside of your point of view requires empathy.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering

  • The Curse of Knowledge
  • What empathy actually is
  • How to connect to audiences you don't relate to
  • The Empathy Journal
  • Putting yourself in the shoes of your ideal client

Ep 64 Best of YFB: Anti Planning29 Dec 202100:23:45

Goal setting is a hot topic this time of year! I love planning and it has been a part of my business for the last 10 years. But traditional planning methods frustrate me. There is a lot I hate about the goal setting we're "supposed" to do in our businesses.

Setting giant, wild (and sometimes unrealistic) goals is an exciting exercise for our brains. I call these Unicorn Goals; I love visualizing what it looks like to smash these insane goals. However, I use Unicorn Goals to fuel my creativity and excitement about my business. They are not set-in-stone markers of my success.

Many business owners and entrepreneurs make the mistake of thinking their Unicorn Goals are the same as their realistic goals. It's important to have both magical and realistic goals as you plan out the next year of your business.

Dive into this episode where I share why traditional planning doesn't work for me (and why it might not be working for you!), as well as my Anti-Planning strategy that you can use for your business going into 2022!

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Why I dislike traditional planning and goal setting
  • The problem with setting a goal without making a plan
  • Toxic positivity in planning
  • The difference between realistic goals and unicorn goals
  • The breakdown of where your revenue is going to come from
  • How to calculate your revenue numbers
  • How to hit your targets
  • Why you need to refine your marketing and sales process

Ep 63 Best of YFB: 100K Math22 Dec 202100:31:42

This episode is all about how to hit 100K in your business! 100K is a wonderful milestone for any entrepreneur and not as out of reach as you might think. This episode is step one to helping you achieve this goal and make 100K a realistic expectation for your business.

In today's episode we are breaking down the math that will lead you to 100K. We are also pulling back the curtain to show that, while 100K is a great accomplishment and takes a lot of work, it's not as intimidating as you may think it is.

Your business is just a game. You can play with the numbers to see what it will take to hit 100K and how you can make it happen. We'll break down the numbers you need to hit every quarter, every month, every week and even every hour to reach your goal. I am here to show you that you CAN hit 100K and do it sooner than you think.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • The math that gets you to 100K
  • How the numbers work for your business
  • How to detach emotion from hitting 100K
  • The shifts you need to make in your business to hit 100K
  • How to set foundations that will make it easier to reach 100K in the long run

Ep 61 Best of YFB: How to Price Your Services08 Dec 202100:33:19

Many entrepreneurs and business owners DO NOT price their services in a way that benefits them or their clients. You need to change the way you view pricing. And you most likely need to raise your prices!

Creating your prices without looking at the data behind them is a rookie mistake. I created a resource that analyzes the data you need to see before setting the perfect price for your services: The Client Capacity Calculator.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How to use prices to attract clients
  • Why money scarcity is a myth

Ep 59 Best of YFB: Strategies for Entrepreneurs with ADHD24 Nov 202101:08:41

On today's episode I dive deep into all of the struggles, strengths, and strategies that I have found to be most important on my journey to understanding ADHD.

I am passionate about productivity because it is something I have struggled with and am still mastering today. A while ago, I realized that things that were more challenging for me were not so difficult for others.

I started to use the term “rebel productivity” to explain my version of productivity and to share strategies that worked for me. As it turns out, rebel productivity is just harnessing the magic of ADHD.

The coolest part about the tips I share in this episode? They work extremely well for people with ADHD, and they work extremely well for neurotypical people too. So whether you have ADHD or not, you're going to want to tune into this one!

Don't forget we are hosting a  FREE VIP Out of Office Training on December 1st. If you want to join, click HERE to apply!

  • Struggles that people with ADHD see the most
  • Strengths that people with ADHD can utilize
  • Strategies you can start using now to improve your productivity
  • How ADHD comes from the chemistry of your brain (NOT from your history or habits)
  • Personal anecdotes from my experience with ADHD - you are not alone in this!

Ep 55 Best of YFB: Time Management for Rebels27 Oct 202100:34:46

Welcome to The Best of Yay for Business Podcast, where we are recapping some of the most popular episodes ever that you HAVE to listen to!! For a long time, I have been obsessed with the concept of time management and understanding how people produce their best results. I believe that productivity is not a rigid formula and that there are different ways to manage your time.

Unlike what many experts say, time management does not have to be color-coded calendars, pristine planners, or perfect organization. It also does not have to be waking up at 5 AM each morning solely to be up earlier than others.

Time management should be working with your schedule in a way that leaves room for self-care and self-compassion. Of course, some tasks are non-negotiable. However, if you stray from the exact time blocking you gave yourself for the day, things will not crumble around you, I promise!

I will tell you when to give yourself more time when to give yourself less time, and how playing with your time management strategies will benefit you and your business.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering

  • Action-oriented time management
  • Using your calendar as a tool and not as the dictator of your day
  • Trying different methods to find what works for you in your current phase
  • Knowing your work priorities
  • Giving yourself time for your goals

Today we talk about Time Management, so are you ready to create a schedule that allows you to take two weeks off from your business and set yourself up for success?

Ep 54 Best of YFB: Schedule Smackdown for Service Providers20 Oct 202100:44:38

Welcome to The Best of Yay for Business Podcast, where we are recapping some of the most popular episodes ever that you HAVE to listen to! This episode is for service providers who are just beginning their career, are fully booked with client work, or feel overwhelmed by the amount on their plate each day. The problem for all of you is the same: you are not managing your schedule like a professional.

There is a mindset for many beginning (and veteran) business owners claiming to make more money; we have to work longer and harder. This is far from the truth! Filling your calendar with "billable hours" from your clients will not allow your business to grow to the level of freedom you want.

In this episode, I share two huge mistakes CEOs make with their calendars, my process for streamlining your business, and an ideal weekly calendar. You need to hear this if you want to advance to the next level, make more money, and have more legitimate freedom in your life.

Are you ready to make this shift and create a schedule that allows you to take two weeks off from your business and set yourself up for success?

If you are ready, sign up to join us for our FREE VIP Out Of Office Training on November 17th to learn how to schedule your vacation guilt-free. Apply HERE

In today's episode, we're specifically covering

  • Why client work should take less than half of your time
  • Getting control over your schedule
  • Focusing on the value of your service instead of the amount of time it takes
  • Streamlining and creating processes in your business
  • Time blocking quarterly, monthly, and weekly

Ep 51: Getting Your Clients Massive Results with Chelsey Dixon29 Sep 202100:52:40

I am so excited to welcome Chelsey to the Yay for Business podcast! She is an all-star coach within our 12-month program, Yay for 100K. And on today's episode we are discussing tough love for both coaches and clients. Here at Courtney Chaal HQ, we want our clients to see tangible results, and you should want that for your clients too! In this episode we're breaking down how you can help your clients gain success and Chelsey's real-life coaching process for engaging clients who may have lost their way in your program.

The client and coach relationship is a two-way street. However, both clients and coaches can lose sight of this truth. A client has the responsibility to show up and put the work in. A coach has just as much, if not more, responsibility to ask the questions that will guide their client to understanding what is crucial to work on and why they need to work on it.

Clients often ask their coaches the wrong questions. But how do we fix that? Today, Chelsey and I discuss how we uncover the real obstacles our clients have by getting to the root of why there is a problem in the first place.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Triggering your clients in a productive way
  • Going deeper with your coaching to help your clients get real results
  • Advice versus coaching
  • Chelsey's process for re-engaging clients
  • Examples of coaching within Yay for 100K

Ep 50: Energy Management22 Sep 202100:28:04

It's time to talk science on the Yay For Business Podcast. Today I am discussing one of my favorite topics that I have researched quite a bit: energy management. We always hear about how to manage our time and squeeze more hours into the working day, but it turns out, that is not what we should concentrate on. Consider this episode your entrepreneurial intervention for pivoting your focus from time management to energy management. Contrary to what so many entrepreneurs say, you don't need to find more time; you need to maximize the time you have by using your energy efficiently.

Energy is a vital resource for business and life. By the end of today's episode, you will have a better understanding of where your energy comes from and how you can use that energy to benefit your business. I am excited to share both my personal experiences and scientific research about why our bodies need to feel both stress and rest. By tuning into our energy cycles, we can prepare ourselves for stressful work and restful vacation times.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering

  • Where energy comes from at the atomic level
  • The importance of paying attention to your energy
  • Fight or flight vs. rest and repair
  • The limitations of working too much
  • How energy works in a cycle
  • Using energy to build a business that grows without you

This episode is part 3 of 4 in our Secret to Freedom series. If you want to learn more about building a business that will thrive while you take time to rest and repair, come join us at our "Out of Office" training that we are hosting throughout October only for our Yay for 100K clients. Ep 49: Secret to Freedom Part 2/4 - Prison vs. Machine15 Sep 202100:31:53

Are you stuck in your own business prison? You claim that working for yourself has given you freedom, but when you look at your day-to-day life, you are at the mercy of your own work. In today's episode, it's time for some tough love as I talk about the realities of freedom in entrepreneurship. If you feel like your business would crash and burn without you present, then you're stuck in a business prison. But good news: It doesn't have to be this way! Now is the time to start constructing your business machine and finally find that freedom that you've been craving.

I hear entrepreneurs give excuses all the time about why they can't streamline their businesses. Here is your truth bomb: If you personally have to do every little thing to keep your business going and money flowing, you would be better off working a 9-5 job. I know that seems harsh, but don't panic! I am fired up and excited to dispel the myth that says you can't step away from your business by sharing examples of how you can start creating your own business machine that operates without you.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Running a business that runs without you
  • The small and tangible steps you can take towards taking breaks, vacations, and leaves in your business
  • How to automate your business even when the brand is YOU
  • The difference between running a business and working for yourself
  • How to work towards true freedom in your business

This episode is part 2 of 4 in our Secret to Freedom series. We are so looking forward to offering even more information, action, and support to help you make your freedom dreams come true. That's why we are holding an "Out of Office" training throughout October only for our Yay for 100K clients. If you want to join that training, click HERE to apply now.

I am so excited to talk to you next week about energy management.  You won’t want to miss part 3 of this freedom series!

Ep 48: Secret to Freedom Part 1/4 - Uplevel Your Business to Take Time Off with Alison Boons08 Sep 202100:47:09

Take a break - you deserve it! But first, listen to this episode of the Yay for Business podcast because today I had the pleasure of discussing how and when to take time off with our very own Alison Boons. Alison is our operations manager here at Courtney Chaal HQ.

Taking a holiday or a necessary leave of absence may seem overwhelming and impossible. If you just started your business, you don't have enough people to keep things running smoothly and you know your clients would freak out if you took time off! I am here to insist that taking a break is not only wonderful and relaxing but also necessary to keep your business alive and well in the long run.

With 15 years of experience in business operations, Alison has worked with many different business models that all needed the same thing: help to streamline, so life and work get easier. In this episode, we cover the basics and beyond of what you need in place to prepare for time off from your business.

Whether you are shutting down the entire team for a forced vacation (and yes, it may be necessary to force your team to take a break!) or you are taking parental leave, fully preparing for a break in your business will give you freedom when you want it and peace of mind if an emergency ever arises. This episode is for solopreneurs, small business entrepreneurs, and CEOs of full-blown companies.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How to sustain and grow your business at any level when you need to take time off
  • How to create a business plan to prepare for vacation
  • How to specifically prepare your 3 points of business for holiday and leave
    1. Marketing
    2. Sales
    3. Delivery
  • How to ease in and out of vacation mode to help you and your business thrive

This episode is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to taking time off. We are so excited to offer even more information, action, and support to help you make your time off dreams come true - and finally get a taste of that freedom you've been craving that made you start your business in the first place. We are hosting an Out Of Office Training for our Yay for 100K clients during the month of October. Click HERE to apply if you want to join our training!

However, I also have some good news: There's a simple process you can follow to get amazing copy written and improve your writing skills!

With just 6 steps, writing can become a fun and creative outlet that allows you to show your audience your true self and elevate your business. Ep 46: Overcoming Objections25 Aug 202100:40:51

Today's episode is all about overcoming objections. An objection is a reason someone gives for not enrolling, signing up, or buying your product or service. Objections may seem negative but there are ways we can address them that help us connect better with people and even make sales.  In today's episode, I am discussing the psychology behind why people make decisions, giving you my golden rules for approaching sales and sharing real-world examples to help you overcome those "no's." This episode will give you confidence to deal with objections and prepare you to overcome them from day one.

We often take objections personally or see them as a failure in our business. Here's the good news: Objections do not equal failure. The better news? I have lots of tips, guidelines, and examples that will help you easily and comfortably address these objections and even use them to help you! As soon as you focus less on the money and less on yourself, you will be able to approach your sales from a place of helping others. Once you are there, you can tackle every "I'm not ready" or "This won't work" in a way that helps your potential client and helps you too!

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How to make a sale without convincing, shaming, or desperation
  • How to continue genuine service beyond objections
  • My top rules for approaching sales:
    1. Always approach sales from a place of service
    2. Always approach sales from a place of detachment
  • Specific objections we discuss
    1. "I'm not ready."
    2. "I can't afford it."
    3. "I don't have the time."
    4. "I need to do ____ before I start."
    5. "I need 1:1 coaching instead of a program."
    6. "I'm in another program, so I can't do this now."
    7. "This won't work for me in my situation."

Ep 45: Tangible Language18 Aug 202100:35:10

How can you define tangible benefits for your potential clients as a person who does not sell tangible results?  So often, success is measured by client results. This becomes a challenge for those of us who may not provide tangible results to clients, such as coaches. I had the fantastic opportunity to talk about this very problem with an amazing mindset coach and Yay for 100K member, Kayla.  We dive deep into her goals for her clients in order to get clear on her tangible benefits.

While it may seem better to use vague and general statements in order to attract more clients, the opposite is actually true.  Kayla and I discuss why it is better to niche down the explanation of your services and how that will attract clients who need and want exactly what you have to offer.  Your goal is to help your clients in a specific way.  Don’t be afraid to get specific on your explanation so that people will know right away how they will benefit from your service.

Let’s be real, this process of niching down and getting specific with your language can be hard!  Lucky for you, this episode will help you get really clear on what you offer and how you can best word it.

Just like Kayla, you too can join us and Apply for Yay for 100K!  Our 12-month group mentoring program gives you the personalized support you need to boost your income and see results from your business.  Follow the link to apply for this life-changing program today!

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How to define the tangible benefits of what you offer
  • How to find the common theme in your clients' problems
  • Why you need to sell what your clients want WHILE giving them what you know they need
  • How to use your clients’ language instead of your expert language

Ep 44: Sales Page Copy 10111 Aug 202100:22:17

Welcome back to the Yay for Business Podcast! Today we are going back to my roots: Writing great sales pages. Consider this episode your sales page copy 101. This is a skill that every entrepreneur is going to want to keep in their back pocket.

Writing copy for sales pages is what I was known for back when I first started in the online business space. It's the thing that put me on the map, which is ironic since I was resistant to being a sales page copywriter in the first place. I was scared because I felt a lot of pressure to write someone else's sales page - the thing that would determine whether or not they make any sales. I started by analyzing other people's sales pages and honing my craft. Eventually, I came up with a 14-part template for writing excellent sales pages that are highly effective for generating tangible results.

This month, every episode of the Yay for Business Podcast is all about copywriting. This is all in lead up to our workshop: "Become a World Class Copywriter for Your Business." I highly encourage you to apply and join us inside of Yay for 100K so that you can get access to this workshop which is all about building the foundation you need to become a world class copywriter. It's one thing to have the templates and understand the mechanics of a copy (which you'll also get in Yay for 100K!), but it's quite another thing to learn the psychology behind copywriting. This workshop will take things a step further and train you to become the best copywriter you can be.

To join the workshop, go to www.courtneychaal.com/apply. Enroll this month so that you can join the copywriting workshop on September 8th!

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • The structure of high converting sales pages
  • The 6 core elements you need to have on your sales page
  • The importance of the headlines of your sales page
  • Grab your headline cheat sheet here: https://courtneychaal.com/headline

I go into even more depth on sales page copy in the Sales Page Kit, which is available for all Yay for 100K clients. Apply at www.courtneychaal.com/apply to join us at our copywriting workshop, gain access to the Sales Page Kit, and receive every copy template you'll ever need. Make sure to get enrolled before September 8th so you can join us for that workshop!

Ep 43: 5 Best Copywriting Tips04 Aug 202100:35:07

Welcome to a new episode of the Yay for Business Podcast! This month is going to be all about COPYWRITING. We're going to kick it off with my top 5 copywriting tips.

If you didn't know, I started my business as a copywriter. I was a general website copywriter for a while before specializing in sales page copy for entrepreneurs, service providers, and course creators.

Because of my copywriting background, our Yay for 100K clients get templates for all the copy that they need to write: sales emails, social posts, webinar landing pages, and so much more.

But I believe it's imperative that every single business owner become their own world-class copywriter. Copywriting is not something that you can outsource in the beginning. It's important that you do what you need to do to learn this skill as well as you can.

That's why on September 8th, I am hosting a copywriting workshop for our Yay for 100K clients. This workshop is the foundation you need to become a great copywriter. We'll dive into the psychology of sales and I will break down and demystify the copywriting process.

So if you want to join me at the copywriting workshop on September 8th, head to www.courtneychaal.com/apply, and enroll this month.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • 5 best copywriting tips
  • The importance of using your target clients' language
  • My motto: let it be shitty
  • How to become a great copywriter by using a template
  • Inspiration and imitation
  • Why you should analyze other people's copy
  • How to make your language tangible

I hope that you enjoyed this episode. I want to encourage you, if you want to work with us inside of Yay for 100K, to go to www.courtneychaal.com/apply. Once you enroll, you'll be able to join us for our in-depth copywriting workshop on September 8th. And when you work with us, you'll also get access to all of our copy templates, lessons and calculators.

Ep 42: Read Your Clients' Minds28 Jul 202100:18:12

Welcome to episode 42 of the Yay for Business Podcast. Today we will be talking about reading your clients' minds.

When we think about reading our clients' minds, we want to know what keeps them up at night. What problems do they have? And how can we alleviate that stress? As entrepreneurs and service providers, it is our job to show our clients that we understand what they are going through and want to help them.

Today we aren’t just talking about people's pain points. I want to talk about the human connection and why it's essential to understand what your target clients are thinking and feeling. This is one of the core lessons we teach our clients in our Yay for 100K program.

Not understanding your clients can result in attracting the wrong clients and customers. Sure, you may have people loving your work, but they won't hire you. This can  lead to you being confused and frustrated. By reading your clients' minds, you're going to be able to provide the service that helps people get the results they want! You're going to get paid, and everyone will be happy.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • The importance of reading your target clients' minds
  • The Rainbow of Sales
  • Your 3 Muses
  • How to engage with your audience
  • How to connect with your audience

If you are ready to work with us and turn your service into a program or refine your business, we would love to have you. You can get all the details about our Yay for 100K program at courtneychaal.com/apply. Ep 41: Build Self Trust21 Jul 202100:11:44

Welcome to episode 41 of the Yay for Business Podcast. In today's episode, we're going to talk about building self-trust. Usually, when people think about the word trust, they think about trusting others. Of course, trust is essential for any relationship in our lives, but we also must learn to trust ourselves.

While chatting over DM with our Yay for 100K applicants, I've noticed a trend. People keep saying, "I need accountability. I've taken a lot of courses in the past, and I didn't finish them. So I'm afraid that I'm going to do that again.” Or they say, “I hired a coach, and it didn't work out. So now I'm nervous to hire another business coach."

This is a form of self-punishment. In essence, you're punishing yourself for the decision you made in the past to enroll in that course or hire that coach.

In today's episode, I want to change that self-punishment narrative. Let's learn from the decisions we are making and view them not as a punishment, but as an opportunity to take every moment and experience to become indestructible.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How holding ourselves to high standards makes us believe that our self-trust is broken
  • How to have compassion for yourself when you don't do things perfectly or get the outcome that you want
  • The importance of understanding that you decide the results that you're going to get
  • Getting a return on investment from any decision or experience every time
  • How to practice nuanced thinking towards setbacks

If you are ready to work with us and turn your service into a program, we would love to have you! We are back in August to review all of our Yay for 100K applicants, so now is a great time to apply. You can get all the details at courtneychaal.com/apply

Ep 40: Dunning Kruger Effect14 Jul 202100:14:05

Welcome to episode 40 of the Yay for Business Podcast. In today's episode, I am sharing a mindset lesson that I teach inside Yay for 100K, the Dunning Kruger Effect. The Dunning Kruger Effect is something you may experience as you up-level your business, so being aware of it means you can work it to your advantage. However, if you are unaware of it, it can be detrimental to your business.

So that's why every month, we do a Dunning Kruger check-in with our clients to see where they are in this experience and what results come up.

For this episode, we created a graphic of the Dunning Kruger Effect. Go to www.courtneychaal.com/40 to get your copy. I recommend printing it out or setting it as a screensaver so you can check in with yourself once in a while to see where you are at.

Besides the graphic, we also have a FREE TRAINING for you. In this training, I will go over the Dunning Kruger Effect in more detail and share how you can transition from services to courses. You can find the free training HERE or on my website (click on the button that says, "Free Training!" in the top navigation bar). All you need to do is fill in your name and email address, and you will get instant access to the training.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering the stages of the Dunning Kruger Effect:

  • Unconscious incompetence (being unaware of how much you don't know)
  • Conscious incompetence (becoming aware of how much you don't know
  • Conscious competence (becoming aware of the solution, but it takes a lot of effort)
  • Unconscious competence (you can't remember what it was like NOT to know how to do the thing anymore)

I hope that this mindset lesson was helpful for you and that you can see how your mind plays tricks on you as you grow your business.

Remember: Discomfort is a good thing. It means you're growing!

Ep 39: Superpowers + Weaknesses07 Jul 202100:15:41

Welcome to episode 39 of the Yay for Business Podcast. Today's episode is all about playing to your strengths and leveraging your weaknesses.

It's no secret that I love psychology, but what I really love is setting goals for myself and creating a vision. I became an entrepreneur because I wanted that freedom, and I know there are more like me who started their business because they wanted that freedom too.

However, since becoming an entrepreneur, I have found myself getting sucked into this entrepreneurial space where the main topics are personal development and self-improvement.

These are things that I love, but I want to talk about them in this episode because I feel like there is a dark side to this entrepreneurial space. It can be really harmful and challenging psychologically. We are constantly told we need to focus on how we can fix our flaws and look for ways to improve ourselves.

So today, I want to change the conversation. Let's talk about how to leverage your weaknesses and play to your strengths.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Your perceived weaknesses
  • Your true superpower
  • How to free up your time by not focusing on your weaknesses
  • Why you should embrace what you are naturally great at
  • Why you need to stop trying to be better at everything
  • How to focus more on your strengths

Ep 38: ADHD + Pregnancy30 Jun 202100:17:57

Welcome back to the Yay for Business Podcast. In today's episode, we are going to be talking about ADHD and pregnancy. Now, you may be wondering why a business podcast is discussing the topic of ADHD and pregnancy. If you have been following me, you probably know that I got diagnosed with ADHD; I have shared my experience living with ADHD in previous podcast episodes. And I'm excited to share that I'm pregnant! During this pregnancy, I have really started to notice how hormones can affect your ADHD symptoms.

I wanted to put these two topics together because there are very few resources out there when you search pregnancy and ADHD. So today, I will share what I'm going through as a business owner and as a pregnant woman with ADHD, and the challenges I'm facing.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Struggling with ADHD symptoms since becoming pregnant
  • Pregnancy and the pandemic lockdown
  • Lack of structure during the pandemic and pregnancy
  • Learning about self-compassion and getting frustrated
  • Dealing with unsolicited advice from people

Be sure to tune into next week's episode, where we will be talking about how to play into your strengths and leveraging your weaknesses. I'm so excited to talk about this because this is one of my themes for 2021!

Ep 37: Nuanced Thinking23 Jun 202100:36:26

Welcome to episode 37 of the Yay for Business Podcast! In today's episode, we are steering away from the strategic side of things and are focusing more on your business's philosophical and psychological sides. Now, I know this might seem a little off-topic from what we usually talk about, but trust me, these are some of the most important things you will do in your business. So stay with me!

One of the most significant realizations that I have made is when we get stressed or feel under pressure, we tend to go into very black and white thinking. Our brains love a binary system. But without nuanced thinking, we start to narrow down our worldview and make extreme decisions.

An example of this binary, black and white thinking comes up a lot with dieting. You think that you're either 100% committed to this diet or you're stuffing your face with whatever you want. Or if you mess up and have a cookie, then the entire diet is destroyed and something is wrong with you. Sound familiar?

As entrepreneurs, we are all guilty of falling into black and white thinking, which can often lead to bad decision making. So in today's episode, I want to focus on the small tweaks you can make to think in a more nuanced way, get down to the root cause of those big sweeping decisions, and prevent you from burning everything down and starting over.

In today’s episode, we’re specifically covering:

  • Binary thinking and how thinking in black and white can cause bad decision-making
  • Pendulum swinging
  • Wanting to have a fresh start and staying comfortable in your business
  • Handling pushback with clients
  • Specificity and our fears
  • Not coming up with constant solutions
  • Questioning our assumptions
  • The problem with making big sweeping changes
  • How to make small tweaks and get to the root cause of the problem

I hope this episode gets your wheels turning on how you can bring more nuance into your business.

And if you are ready to work with us and turn your services into a program, we would love to have you! You can get all the details about our Yay for 100K program at courtneychaal.com/apply.

Ep 36: ADHD with Denise Duffield Thomas16 Jun 202100:57:35

Welcome to episode 36 of the Yay for Business Podcast!

In episode 8 ("I have ADHD"), I shared my story about my ADHD. I talked about what it was like getting diagnosed and what I have learned about myself since embracing my diagnosis. If you haven't listened to that episode, click here to check it out.

After that episode was released, I received the most genuine and heartfelt feedback from other women who shared their own stories about being diagnosed with ADHD and not even realizing they had it. Which totally resonates with me!

In today's episode, I'm talking with Denise Duffield Thomas, a successful entrepreneur and the creator of Money Bootcamp, about her journey with ADHD. As a child, no one ever suspected Denise had ADHD because she always had her nose in a book, performed excellently in school, and behaved well. But looking back, there were definitely signs.

Since Denise has been diagnosed with ADHD as an adult, she has developed practices that help her stay organized, focus on her strengths, and not get bored. Denise also shares how she maintains her focus in her business and her busy personal life.

In today’s episode, we’re specifically covering:

  • How Denise became aware of her ADHD
  • The benefits of being diagnosed with ADHD and understanding the way you think
  • The simplicity of having an ADHD brain and the choices we make
  • The stigma and negative views of ADHD
  • Incorporating certain constraints in your life
  • Outsourcing and making incremental upgrades
  • Having ADHD and how that affects your business model
  • How to channel your creativity
  • How to layer in external accountability

Ep 35: Services vs. Courses09 Jun 202100:13:46

Episode 35 is a quick one! In this episode, we're diving into the big debate: Services vs. courses. I don't see anyone in the online business world talking about this in the way that I do. Usually, business coaches prefer one or the other, or they're trying to promote one or the other. But why not do both?!

This episode comes with a special FREE TRAINING. You can find the free training on my website. Head to www.courtneychaal.com and in the navigation bar at the top of the page, you'll find a button that says, "Free training." All you need to do is fill in your name and email, and you will get instant access to the training. In this training, I will guide you through the transition of going from services to courses and what that really looks like for your business.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Services vs. courses
  • The benefits of offering services
  • The benefits of selling a course
  • The downsides of services
  • The downsides of a course

Most people overestimate how much work is required to run a service-based business and underestimate how much work is required to run a course-based business.

Services are your money now; courses are your money later.

You do not have to choose between services or courses. I recommend that you do both! In fact, I want you to turn your service into a course. And in the free training that you can find on my website, I will walk you through exactly what that transition looks like.

So if you are ready to work with us and turn your services into a program, we would love to have you! You can get all the details about our Yay for 100K group coaching program at courtneychaal.com/apply. When you apply, you get instant access to our private training, "How to add 100K of revenue to your business in the next 12 months."

Ep 34: Take 2 Weeks Off This Summer02 Jun 202100:23:00

Welcome to episode 34 of the Yay for Business Podcast all about how to take two weeks off from your business this summer. I'm so excited to chat about this today because I will be shutting down my business for two weeks in July. I feel like this is essential to mention in this episode because not only do I want to model this behavior for our Yay for 100K clients, but I also want to show other entrepreneurs that it's healthy to step away from your business.

Now, I'm proud to say that I am NOT a workaholic entrepreneur, but I know that is not the case for everyone. The truth is we live in a society that promotes a very unhealthy relationship with work; we expect people to be "on" all the time. I refuse to participate in this.

It's important to remember that even as entrepreneurs, there is nothing wrong with taking a break and creating some space between you and your business. But many entrepreneurs struggle with this because they have not set up certain boundaries with their clients. That's why in today's episode, I want to give you the foundations you need to plan for that two-week break that will not only help you feel rested but also come back feeling empowered.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • Modeling healthy behavior to our clients
  • Handling clients and the fear of taking a break
  • Planning a two-week break from your business
  • Operations of your business you need to establish
  • How to handle client applications
  • Public communication

Ep 33: Attn All BUSY Service Providers26 May 202100:14:47

Welcome to episode 33 of the Yay for Business Podcast! Today's episode is short because I'm talking to the service providers who are too busy with client work and never have the time to work on their business.

We see this happen a lot with our Yay for 100K  clients, and our job as coaches is to help them figure out how to prioritize client work while still dedicating time to their business. As business owners, there's this misconception that the only way to be successful in your business is to be busy 24/7. This is false! Your job as a business owner is not to do all the client work.

In today's episode, I'm going to be honest with you. I will show you how what you are doing is actually hurting your business and will eventually lead to burnout. But don't worry! We can fix the problems now before burnout sets in and your business stalls.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • How to look at your business as the machine
  • How to give your business space from you
  • Why you need to incorporate rest into your life
  • How to get rid of the busy-ness cycle in your business
  • Why you need to raise your prices and say no to non-ideal clients
  • How to plan CEO days for your business

Don't forget about our Yay for 100K virtual conference coming up next week! If you are one of the busy people we talked about in this episode, this conference is for you! Be sure to go to courtneychaal.com/conference to purchase your ticket now. Tickets are only $47.

We will have my friend Jordan Gill talking about how to offer VIP days, an awesome way for busy service providers to do client work efficiently. If that's something that you might want to offer as a service, mark your calendar for May 31 to June 2, with a special VIP Bonus Day on Friday, June 4.

And if you're too busy to make the conference, don't worry because you will get seven days of access to the recordings with your ticket purchase. You can watch the conference on your own time. I hope to see you there!

Many of the questions that come up for our Yay for 100K clients are around specific issues they might be having in their sales process, marketing, tech build out, etc. As coaches, it is our job to determine the root cause of the problem, help our clients solve that problem, and prevent it from happening again in the future. That's why this will be a great episode, because even if you don't have the same specific problem, you'll likely be able to relate to the root cause of the problem and integrate our coaching into your own business.

Ep 75: Free vs. Paid Mini Service? What's the difference?05 Dec 202400:11:51

Hey, friends!
In this episode, I’m getting a little nerdy (in the best way) and breaking down the key differences between a free mini service and a paid mini service. If you’ve ever wondered how to book out your signature service without feeling salesy, this is your answer.

I’ve completely changed my approach to mini services after working with hundreds of entrepreneurs, and let me tell you—this combo is where the magic happens. I’m sharing why both a free and paid mini service are must-haves in your business and how they work together to help you attract clients like a magnet.

What You’ll Hear:

  • The difference between a free mini service and a paid mini service (and why you need both).
  • How the free mini service warms people up and builds trust.
  • Why the paid mini service proves your value and leads to more sales.
  • A sneak peek at my Build a Client Booking Machine in 2025 Workshop happening on December 12th.

Ep 29: Upgrade Your Services for "Premium Pricing"28 Apr 202100:43:33

Today we are diving into a subject that I have wanted to talk about for a while: Offering premium services and charging premium prices. We'll discuss the 10 service upgrades you want to be making to your packages to justify those premium prices.

As entrepreneurs, it's only natural that we will want to charge more for our services as time goes on and as we become more skilled. However, when the thought of raising our prices comes up, we get so nervous! We start to think:

"What if my clients don't want to pay that much?"
"Will they push back?"
"How can I justify these prices?"

Don't worry! This line of thinking is so normal and I guarantee you every entrepreneur has been where you are now. Raising prices is something everyone wants to do, but they feel like they can't do it or don't know how to do it. So that's why I'm getting into how to charge premium pricing in today's episode.

Exciting announcement: On April 30th, early bird tickets for our Yay for 100K Virtual Conference are going on sale! The conference is happening May 31st to June 2nd, with an extra special VIP Bonus Day on Friday, June 4th. Purchase your early bird ticket to save on the ticket cost, get a copy of our goal calculator and learn more about our VIP Bonus Day.

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • 10 service upgrades you can make to your packages
  • The signature service model
  • How to upgrade your delivery process
  • Why you need to implement feedback and testimonials
  • Marketing upgrades you can incorporate
  • How to grow your online visibility
  • The five by five matrix you need
  • The importance of a Work With Me page
  • How to have a high-converting booking conversation
  • Your mindset around boundaries

Ep 28: Hire Your First VA (Plus 25 Tasks to Give Them!)21 Apr 202100:47:01

Let's talk about the myth of the solopreneur. Too many people try to work alone in their businesses for too long. I get it! This is something every business owner goes through. But in today's episode of the Yay for Business Podcast, I want to present you with an alternative approach that will make you even more productive.

Step 1: I want you to stop identifying as a solopreneur. I know this can be hard. The word "solopreneur" is empowering and so many business owners feel pride in being a one-person operation. They think that they are synonymous with their business. However, the truth is it's unrealistic to be a solopreneur forever. It can set you up for serious stress and limit your business growth.

Step 2: Hire a VA! A virtual assistant (VA) is the first step in your journey from stressed solopreneur to booked out boss. Once you realize that you are not your business and that by trying to do everything, you're actually burning out and limiting your growth, it's time to bring on some help.

That's why in episode 28, we are talking about how to hire a VA and 25 tasks you can assign them to free up your time and let your business grow. Download the FREE list of 25 tasks you can assign to your VA (plus lots of helpful details) here!

In today's episode, we're specifically covering:

  • When you should hire a VA
  • The return on investment from hiring a VA
  • Ways to find a VA
     *Going through an agency
    *Contractor VA
    * Hiring as an employee
  • Onboarding your VA
  • The hiring process
  • What type of VA are you looking for?
  • Why you need to create a list of things that you don't want to do
  • Training your VA
  • How to get as clear as possible on their job title
  • The 25 tasks that you can hand over to your VA today

Hopefully, this list helps give you some guidance on hiring your first VA and what tasks you can assign them. Just remember to get specific on exactly what you need help with and be ready to train them.

In next week's episode, I'm addressing those of you who are too busy to work on your business. We are talking about business owners who are overflowing with client work but still struggling to grow their business and their income. If that's you, you won't want to miss it!

If you're ready to take your business to the next level, or maybe you need a little more guidance on growing your team, apply to join us in my high-touch coaching group, Yay for 100K!

Ep 27: Time Management for Rebels14 Apr 202100:38:10

Welcome back to the Yay for Business Podcast! In today's episode, we are tackling time management for rebels.

What is a time management rebel? A time management rebel is someone, like me, who is very action-oriented, but struggles with a lot of the advice that may work for other people.

I've always been fascinated by how people spend their workday, how they produce results, and what actions they take. Because most of the strategies they use don't work for someone like me (and I know I'm not the only one), I wanted to create something that would work for us time management rebels.

In today's episode, I want to celebrate you and your unique way of doing things, and give you some strategies that can help you tackle time management.

This episode will cover:

  • Not letting the tools be in charge of your schedule (you are in charge!)
  • Thinking about the positive qualities that come with your calendar
  • What is causing you to avoid that task on your calendar?
  • What is the consequence of not completing what's on your calendar?
  • The big rock concept
  • Prioritizing self-care
  • Knowing your work priorities
  • Short-term vs. long-term thinking
  • Having unrealistic expectations
  • What would you need to do to take time off?
  • My planning methods

Next week's episode is all about hiring your first VA and the 25 tasks you should give them.  I am so excited about this topic because people always ask me what tasks they should hand off to their VA. Well, I have the answer - 25 of them - so you'll want to tune in for that!

Exciting news! We have a virtual conference coming up next month. So mark your calendars for May 31st - June 2nd (and our VIP Bonus Day on June 4th). Stay tuned for more information and your chance to score early bird tickets!
