Adding another layer to this calculated financial maneuvering, WWE has simultaneously unveiled a new partnership with Fandango and Regal Cinemas to bring Premium Live Events to movie theaters, starting with the two-night SummerSlam.

From WrestleZone: The 2024 WWE Draft is finally behind us and, honestly, fans have mixed reaction to the two-night event. The draft began on SmackDown last Friday. The champions on all three brands were protected except for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
While RAW and SmackDown retained majority of the pre-draft roster, they did trade some names in addition to plucking several superstars from NXT.
Joseph Staszweksi wrote: The WWE Draft could be so much more. 
Every year, I watch WWE’s annual roster tweaking, hoping the company will take some risks, attach more stories and add more of a real sports feel. 
I had high hopes this year after the leaps forward in the production of Raw and SmackDown under Lee Fitting, the former ESPN producer who took the role of head of media production to replace longtime executive producer Kevin Dunn in January. 
He has brought a ton of refreshing elements to WWE. The continuous shots — often with a wrestler pushing the camera back into the arena or to the back — showed off the energy of the sold-out crowd and moved you more organically to the next story. There are more pre-and-post match interviews with talent that feel more like sports broadcasts.

WWE is no longer a company where the action is almost exclusively in the ring or in a backstage interview area. We saw Jey Uso walk into an arena entrance to talk with Sami Zayn before the camera followed the Intercontinental champion into the arena while entering the crowd. Instead of a formal interview in Gorilla, we see Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman have a private conversation We get Drew McIntyre searching out CM Punk in a luxury box.

From WrestlingNews.co: The ALL IN footage aired tonight on AEW Dynamite. During the first half hour, they showed a countdown clock to remind fans to stick with the show. The segment aired just after 8:40 pm Eastern.
The segment began with The Young Bucks sitting backstage. They mentioned that they would be facing FTR at Dynasty at the Tag Team Title tournament finals. Nick Jackson said ALL IN was the biggest show and match they have ever been part of. Matt said before the match there was an incident backstage that included the "scapegoat" in the situation, Jack Perry. Nick said the other individual tried to make the show about himself and maybe FTR were the masterminds behind the entire thing. Matt said he and Nick had to throw their EVP hats on during the aftermath. Matt said that the incident threatened to take down AEW's biggest show of all time but "We're lucky that it didn't."
The video showed Punk and Perry face-to-face with personnel and wrestlers in the area. Punk shoved Perry and it was quickly broken up. The video ended with Punk walking off. FTR then walked out to the ring and cut a heated promo about The Bucks that seemed to be more like a worked shoot. They talked about putting the company on their back and wanting to move forward with or without The Bucks. This was all to promote Dynasty.
We also comment on Ariel Helwani's post Wrestlemania comments where he states “Last night doesn’t happen…if not for AEW and Tony Khan. I hope they take great pride in that.”

AEW Revolution 2024 will feature Sting's final match.
Sting's farewell bout is set to headline AEW's inaugural PPV of 2024, generating heightened anticipation after months of strategic promotion. Following their triumph over Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita on the Jan. 10 Dynamite episode, Sting and Darby Allin faced an unexpected challenge from the Young Bucks on the stage.
In a subsequent Dynamite interview, the Jacksons hinted at the impending showdown by acknowledging Sting as the "last of a dying breed." When queried about a match against the Icon in his retirement bout, the Executive Vice Presidents playfully asserted they would "pull some strings." The official announcement came on the Feb. 14 Dynamite episode, with Allin readily accepting the EVPs' challenge.
Another confirmed clash features Roderick Strong contending for the AEW International Championship against Orange Cassidy. The Undisputed Kingdom, established at Worlds End, declared their pursuit of AEW gold, making this bout Strong's initial bid for a title since joining the company in 2023.
The pinnacle of the event is a Triple Threat match for the AEW World Championship, where Samoa Joe defends against Swerve Strickland and Hangman Adam Page. Last week's Wrestlemania 40 Press Event in Las Vegas was where Cody Rhodes announced he would challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40, a change from expectation as it was widely believed WWE would announce The Rock vs. Reigns at the event instead.
On the flip side, Rhodes had been expected to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rock previously mocked fans of Rhodes as “Cody Crybabies,” a response to the backlash to Rock taking Rhodes’ spot. After being insulted by Rhodes, Rock slapped Cody.
As previously reported, Rock is expected to draw inspiration from his past ‘Hollywood’ Rock persona. WWE will also release Rock branded ‘Cody Crybabies’ merchandise.

ESPN reports: Every indication is that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will return for his first legitimate match since 2013 against Undisputed WWE Universal champion Roman Reigns in the main event of the two-night WrestleMania 40 on either April 6 or 7 in Philadelphia. Johnson is as recognizable worldwide as anyone else on Earth. Reigns has been the face of WWE during this era, is in the middle of a record-setting title run, and, by the way, happens to consider himself to be Johnson's cousin -- even if not by blood.
Reigns vs. The Rock has been teased for years. Reigns' storyline, the best one WWE has done in a long time, is called The Bloodline, and it's all about Reigns and his family's legacy in wrestling. Johnson fits into that perfectly.
In a vacuum, the match is a no-brainer. It checks all the boxes. Yet, if the online reaction is any indication, the most ardent pro-wrestling enthusiasts are pushing back hard on it. Or at least its timing. As of Sunday night, the full Smackdown segment on WWE's YouTube channel has more than 500,000 downvotes, compared to just over 100,000 upvotes.

At the 2025 Money in the Bank event, Seth Rollins climbed the ladder to victory in the Men's Money in the Bank match, outlasting LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Andrade, El Grande Americano, and Penta to earn his second career briefcase. The match also saw a significant turn of events as Jacob Fatu betrayed his ally, Solo Sikoa.

In the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder Match, Naomi captured the briefcase, triumphing over Alexa Bliss, Roxanne Perez, Rhea Ripley, Giulia, and Stephanie Vaquer. The match highlighted a new direction for the women's division, featuring a number of fresh faces from NXT.
The night also saw a title change, as Becky Lynch defeated Lyra Valkyria to become the new Women's Intercontinental Champion. In other championship action, Dominik Mysterio successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship against AAA's Octagón Jr.
Additionally, a blockbuster tag team match saw Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso defeat the duo of John Cena and Logan Paul.

Coming out of the Royal Rumble I see all the main eventers confront each other from Drew McIntyre to CM Punk to Cody Rhodes to Seth Rollins and they make for a very compelling main event picture leading the Wrestlemania without Roman Reigns.
But, no matter what you want to say, Roman Reigns is still the end all be all and is the title holder that matters in that main event for the men's division. No matter how Seth Rollins tries to spin it (although I respect how well he is done trying to build the world heavyweight title and make it important) it looked bad to see him go out there and tell Cody Rhodes he should go after his title at WrestleMania and not go after Roman Reigns again.
Bayley's choices to face either champion would make for a good match. Adding Nia Jax to the mix to attack Rhea Ripley is a good buffer to keep her relevant and keep champions and challenger apart. Meanwhile, the midcard is a much different story.

Cody Rhodes Repeats at Royal Rumble and appears to be Roman-Bound to finish his story. Meanwhile the Rumble Matches Reveals Light Main Event Depth and an Alarming Midcard on the main roster.
Forbes recaps: "Cody Rhodes won the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble, upsetting favorite CM Punk and punching his ticket to WrestleMania 40, where he will hopefully finish his story. Following Rhodes’ win, Rhodes pointed—emphatically—at Roman Reigns, indicating that 2024 will indeed be the year that he dethrones Roman Reigns.
The men’s Royal Rumble match, like most years, seemed pretty easy to predict. The leader in the clubhouse was the returning CM Punk, who hadn’t competed on televised WWE programming since the Royal Rumble 10 years ago. Punk returned to WWE as a favorite to finally win his first Royal Rumble and likely challenge Seth Rollins to his first WrestleMania main event. Problem is, The Rock recently returned to WWE on WWE Raw: Day 1, and until further notice, Dwayne existed as a threat to pull the rug right from up under CM Punk.
Another interesting caveat is the late rise of GUNTHER, who at one point tied CM Punk as the favorite to win the Royal Rumble at +150. As the smart money came in closer to the Rumble, CM Punk overtook GUNTHER as a -105 favorite.

Wall Street Journal reports that a former WWE employee has filed a lawsuit against the founder, Vince McMahon, accusing him of sexual abuse and trafficking during his tenure as CEO. The legal action, initiated in a federal court in Connecticut, provides a detailed account of the plaintiff, identified as Grant, and her alleged experiences with McMahon.
According to the lawsuit, on June 15, 2021, McMahon and another high-ranking WWE executive reportedly confined Grant in an office at the company's Stamford, Conn., headquarters. During this incident, they allegedly took turns sexually assaulting her while other employees were present. Another disturbing incident was said to have occurred on June 23, 2021, when McMahon allegedly locked Grant inside his private locker room and forced himself on her over a massage table.
In addition to the physical abuse, the lawsuit includes claims that McMahon's personal assistant delivered $15,000 in Bloomingdale's gift cards to Grant on the same day. Furthermore, explicit text messages, including one from May 2020, were presented as evidence, where McMahon allegedly asserted control over her, stating, "I'm the only one who owns U and controls who I want to f— U."
The legal filing also alleges that McMahon shared unauthorized nude photos and explicit videos of Grant with other WWE employees, unnamed executives, and stars. It cited a July 2020 text message suggesting that others at WWE expressed interest in having sex with her after viewing photos on McMahon's phone. The lawsuit claims that the group laughed off concerns about her objections, stating, "She may scream and try to say NO!! although it would B difficult to say anything with a c— down her throat."
The lawsuit contends that an internal investigation by the WWE board was inadequate and labeled it as a "sham." Grant claimed that she was not interviewed by the board's special committee, and despite her willingness to cooperate, it did not request relevant documents. The lawsuit further asserts that the company diverted attention from McMahon's alleged abuse by focusing on accounting for payouts. Additionally, it alleges that other individuals within WWE were aware of McMahon's misconduct but actively worked to conceal it.

Starting in January 2025, Netflix will be the exclusive home of WWE's Raw in the US, Canada, UK, and Latin America. This is part of a 10-year agreement between Netflix and WWE, which is worth over $5 billion.
In addition to Raw, Netflix will air SmackDown and NXT in every market, as well as all of WWE's major showcases, including WrestleMania and SummerSlam.
WWE also announced that its documentaries, original series, and upcoming projects will be available on Netflix internationally starting in 2025.
Some speculate that the deal will strengthen the media landscape, expand WWE's reach, and bring weekly live appointment viewing to Netflix. Others speculate that Netflix may force WWE to tighten up the running time if the algorithm.

"The Iron Claw" is a movie that explores the tragic story of the Von Erich family, a famous wrestling family. The film aims to showcase wrestling as more than just a fake spectacle by highlighting the skill, artistry, and physical toll involved in the sport.

The Von Erich family, consisting of Fritz Von Erich and his sons Kevin, David, Kerry, and Mike, achieved great success in wrestling but also faced immense tragedy, with four of the five siblings dying between 1984 and 1993, three by suicide. The movie delves into themes of masculinity and the pressure placed on boys to conform to certain ideals.

In 2024, wrestling needs to understand takeaways from movies like "The Iron Claw" that portray the technical abilities, physical toll, and emotional struggles of wrestlers.

Its time for wrestling to be more presented with more larger than life characters with depth and real development and elevate wrestling as an art form and a craft to a level that World Class Championship Wrestling would have been proud of.

CM Punk, after a rollercoaster ride of an AEW run decides to return to WWE for the first time since the 2014 Royal Rumble.
So, we are all going to gloss over jis Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling podcast interview released in November 2014, Punk finally broke his silence regarding his exit from WWE. Punk said that he was suspended for two months after walking out on the company in January and that after the suspension ended, nobody from WWE contacted him. Punk also said company executives gave him a run-around when he reached out to them for unpaid royalties until he was ultimately handed his termination papers and was fired by WWE on his wedding day in June 2014.
The manner of firing was the last straw for Punk, stating that he would never return to WWE and that there would be no further working relationship between him and WWE following a legal settlement. The settlement included Punk giving WWE permission to sell his remaining merchandise.
Punk cited his health as the main reason he left WWE, describing that during his final months in the company, he had been working through an untreated and potentially fatal MRSA infection (Punk later acknowledged on the witness stand that no physician ever diagnosed him with an MRSA staph infection), broken ribs, injured knees and multiple concussions, including one at the 2014 Royal Rumble, as well as having lost his appetite and ability to sleep well. Punk felt that WWE was pressuring and rushing him to wrestle before fully recovering. According to Punk, he found a lump on his back in November 2013, and it was diagnosed as a "fatty deposit" by Dr. Chris Amann, who refused to remove it despite Punk's repeated requests. The week after Punk left WWE, his wife April Mendez convinced him to get the lump checked by her doctor. The doctor told Punk that he could have died due to ignoring it for such a long time. Punk had the doctor evacuate the infection, describing it as the worst pain in his life, but said that once it was treated and he was on stronger medication, he was able to sleep better than he had in months.
Other sources of unhappiness Punk had with WWE were his failure to main event a WrestleMania (deeming his entire career to be a failure as a result), being paid less than the other wrestlers in the three most significant matches of WrestleMania 29, doing favors for Vince McMahon and not being owed back, being "creatively stifled", feeling that there were no long-term plans for wrestlers other than John Cena, as well as receiving less pay and not getting answers as to how the advent of the WWE Network would affect wrestlers' salaries. Lastly, Punk described having left with "zero passion" for wrestling and described himself at the time of the interview to be the happiest he's ever been in many years.
Less than one week later, while being interviewed on The Steve Austin Show on the WWE Network, Vince McMahon apologized to Punk for the manner of his termination, which he regarded as an unfortunate coincidence due to a lack of communication within the company. McMahon also said that he was open to working with Punk again. In a second Art of Wrestling podcast, Punk publicly rejected McMahon's apology, brushing it off as "insincere" and a "publicity stunt" as McMahon did not contact him directly to apologize and could have apologized much earlier.

Let's take, for instance, the case of Roman Reigns, the self-proclaimed "Tribal Chief" of WWE. Reigns, in all his glory, has not shied away from boasting about the alleged superiority of WWE over its competitors. In interviews and on social media, Reigns has been quick to dismiss the achievements of non-WWE wrestlers, insinuating that they operate in some minor league while he lords over the big leagues.
And how can we forget about the "Queen" herself, Charlotte Flair? The daughter of wrestling legend Ric Flair, Charlotte has become notorious for not just adopting her father's figure-four leg lock but also his penchant for talking down to anyone outside the WWE bubble. In a recent interview, Flair rolled her eyes at the notion that wrestlers outside WWE could ever match up to the so-called "standards" set by the largest wrestling promotion in the world.
But perhaps the most glaring example of this egotism comes from the mouth of John Cena, the face that ran the place for over a decade. Cena, in his infinite wisdom, once remarked that he "bleeds WWE." Well, Mr. Cena, it seems that your ego is bleeding over, too. His dismissive comments about wrestlers who ply their trade in promotions outside WWE reek of arrogance and a lack of respect for the diverse and talented individuals who contribute to the global wrestling scene.
The irony is, these superstars are quick to forget that they too were once chasing dreams in smaller promotions before hitting the big time. The hypocrisy is palpable, and the lack of sportsmanship is disheartening for fans who appreciate the artistry of wrestling, regardless of the brand.

TNA Returns on January 13, 2024 At The Hard To Kill Pay-Per-View From The Palms Casino Resort In Las Vegas, Nevada

TORONTO CHICAGO – October 21, 2023 – Anthem Sports & Entertainment, a global, multi-platform media company, announced today that its professional wrestling company, IMPACT Wrestling, is returning to its iconic Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling name, at “Hard To Kill,” its first pay-per-view event of 2024, which will originate for the first time ever from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The announcement was made Saturday night at the end of the “Bound For Glory” pay-per-view, which aired live around the world in front of a standing-room-only crowd in Chicago.

TNA will launch 2024 with Hard To Kill on Saturday, January 13, with a second night of action-packed professional wrestling – the “Snake Eyes Extravaganza Show” – at The Palms on Sunday, January 14. The Snake Eyes Extravaganza Show will be taped to air on the company’s flagship weekly TV show, Impact!, airing every Thursday night on AXS TV (8 p.m. EST).

“We still hear the ‘TNA’ chants wherever we go,” said IMPACT Wrestling President Scott D’Amore. “Fans have longed for TNA Wrestling, so that’s what we’re bringing back in 2024: TNA Wrestling, we’re back!”

Tickets for both Hard To Kill on January 13 and the Snake Eyes Extravaganza Show on January 14 will be on-sale on Friday, November 4, at http://Impactwrestling.com

Company officials confirmed that the new year will launch a new-look TNA Wrestling that runs from the entrance ramp to turnbuckles in the ring to larger, more prestigious venues and much, much more. Further details on the TNA Wrestling return will be revealed on Tuesday, October 24, when D’Amore sits down for an exclusive interview with Tom Hannifan that will air live on IMPACT’s Facebook page, starting at 12noon EST. The Q&A will include questions from worldwide pro wrestling media.
