S2 E5: Five Ways to Get the Most from your TFSA

Saison 2 · Épisode 5

mardi 7 juin 2022Durée 19:52

Send us a text

This week I am focusing on TFSA's and clearing up some common misunderstandings to help you ensure you maximize the benefits you achieve from your investment portfolio.

One of the most common questions I get as a wealth advisor is: “Which type of retirement account should I put my money into…an RRSP, which is a Registered Retirement Savings Plan, or a TFSA, which is a Tax Free Savings Account?

Which one should you put your money into? Here's what you need to know to make the right decision for you:

1.    Realize a TFSA is an investment account, not a savings account.

2.    Use your TFSA is for any windfalls you may receive

3.    Keep track of your contributions and withdrawals

4.    Understand the residency requirements

5.    Make your spouse a successor holder, not a beneficiary

S2 E3: What Would You Tell Your 20-year-old Self About Money?

Saison 2 · Épisode 3

mardi 5 avril 2022Durée 27:27

Send us a text

Earlier this season, I shared with you a few life stories of my clients. These are women who have gracefully navigated life and used their wealth as tools for living a beautiful life.

But I'll bet there are some things they wish they had told their younger selves. And if they had shared this wisdom with the younger selves, maybe they would have gotten farther ahead in their goals. Or maybe they just would have done things differently.

Here to talk about that subject is Lisa Hannam. Lisa is the Executive Editor of MoneySense Magazine. Lisa has been a leading force in the success of the financial magazine with her effective financial advice and her quick ability to pick up on stories that provide real value to Canadians.

Lisa is one of those individuals who was ahead of the game. She was an active saver in her 20s. But even she would have done a few things differently. Come and listen in as Lisa and I talk about "What I Wish I had told my 20-year-old Self About Money?"

Our Guest

Lisa Hannam, Executive Editor of MoneySense has been a leading force in the success of the financial magazine with her effective financial advice and her quick ability to pick up on stories that provide real value to Canadians.
