Somatic therapy is something that I’ve been really intrigued about in my own life, and before this conversation I didn’t quite understand it. My new friend Beatriz Victoria Albina has changed that. In today’s episode she’ll beautifully explain what somatic therapy is, and how it can help those of us who were socialized in ways that created perfectionist, co-dependent or people pleasing habits so that we can live life in a way that is kinder to our nervous systems.
Beatriz Victoria Albina is a Master Certified Somatic Life Coach, Nurse Practitioner, and has a Masters in Public Health. She is the host of the Feminist Wellness Podcast. Her new book, End Emotional Outsourcing: How to Overcome Codependent, Perfectionist and People Pleasing Habits comes out in September!

| Ep. 18 | I’m Not Anti “Wellness”....Well, Maybe a Little | 06 Mar 2025 | 00:39:19 | |
“We have more 'wellness' available to us than ever before. More wellness influencers, podcasts and books - yet I don’t know one woman who is truly well,”
Do you? Between the women I work with online, to the women in my real life, I don’t know anyone who isn’t struggling in some way, either physically or mentally. Yet we have more “wellness” available to us than ever before. Today on the show, I’m stepping back and asking the bigger question around wellness culture, why we’re not genuinely feeling well, and what we can do about it. You, me, and women everywhere are not broken, but the systems we’re living in are. It’s time for a liberation.

How I came to realize that what I needed wasn’t more ‘wellness’
The paradox that the wellness industry sells us
How systems of oppression affect our wellness and how we can break free

Welcome to Within – a podcast where we empower women to break free from the unrealistic standards that keep us disconnected from our true selves. I'm Katie, and like many women, I’ve felt the invisible pressure to be anyone other than who I really am.
From body image to career, marriage, and motherhood, the message was clear: I wasn’t enough. But I believe there's a different way to live. In Within, we unravel the programming of perfectionism, shame, and overwhelm that so many of us carry. Together with thought leaders, experts, and everyday women, we explore what it means to reclaim our worth, shed the need for perfection, and live authentically.
If you're tired of the chase and ready to reimagine your life on your own terms, join me each week for raw, real conversations about mindful living, aging, sobriety, wellness, and more. The life you're longing for already exists within. It’s time to remember. | |||

“I pour into so many other people, but I think I had forgotten to pour into me.”
For the last year or so I thought I was doing fine. Sure, I had sleepless nights or more anxiety than I’d prefer…my skin was a little redder than I’d like.. but for the most part everything seemed basically ‘fine’. But when I got a chance to slow down for the summer, I began to reexamine my health and wellness. What I realized was that while I felt fine, I didn’t feel great.
I made some changes this summer in regards to my health and wellness and I must say I feel the best I’ve felt in a long time. Today I’ll share the shifts I made and what really is working for me in this season of life to feel my best.
Today on WithIn:
What I realized when I removed Instagram and made strict boundaries on screen time
Lowering the volume on wellness culture
Enjoying movement for the joy of it and not for a goal of changing my body

What has changed for me since I’ve been back in therapy
The superpower trifecta of sobriety, meditation and self-love

An exercise to help you zero in on how you truly want to spend your holiday season
