If you feel worn out and wrecked, like your life and hormones are out of balance, you are not alone. It's a symptom a lot of us deal with, a common result of our 24/7 busy lifestyle. The good news is that you aren't stuck! There are some simple ways to get your life (and hormones) back on track! Dr. Tami Meraglia, author of "The Hormone Secret," offers insights on just that: how to regain hormonal balance and health. | 488: From Heart Attack To Healthy: The Power Of Structured Water In The Body | 19 Aug 2024 | 00:37:08
Structured water is critical to good health. But what is it? How do we get more of it in the body? And can it really help us detox from disruptive ingredients in covid shots and other injections? And prevent or even help us heal after heart attacks? Dr. Stephen Hussey addresses all of the above in today's conversation. Stephen is the author of Understanding the Heart, and he has done a deep dive into what caused his own heart attack (at age 34!) and how to shore up health. He is convinced that it has everything to do with structured water (also called EZ or 4th phase water). Today he discusses how to create more of this critical water in the body and how it can help us not only detox from shots but heal and in the process, safeguard our health altogether. | 479: Garden When You Don't Have a Clue, Don't Want to Use Pesticides, & Have No Green Thumb with Jill Ragan | 17 Jun 2024 | 00:45:51
Do you have to be a good planner to start a garden? How can you avoid pests if you don't use pesticides? Are "companion" plants a thing? What plants are best near others?
These are some of the questions addressed by Jill Ragan of Whispering Willow Farm in this week's podcast episode. Jill is the author of "The Tiny but Mighty Farm," and she has lots of ideas for how to get started gardening. She made plenty of mistakes that she openly shares so that we can learn from her and avoid duplicating the bad stuff. She offers ideas for both the beginner gardener and the one with more experience under their belt.
Since Jill is a "market gardener," she knows how to scale up and what works for gardeners with a lot of lands and those with very little. She covers the importance of practical space usage, why string trellises work better than plastic cages, and more.

| 390: Sprouting: The Secret To Digestible Grains | 24 Oct 2022 | 00:34:11 | |
It's time to maximize the nutrition and minimize the anti-nutrients in our beans, grains, seeds, and legumes. We can do this through the ancient process of soaking and sprouting them. Peggy Sutton, the founder and president of To Your Health Sprouted Flour Co., explains how to do this and why. She's bringing the practice back after years of being overlooked.
Today, she tells us about how she came across this practice in the first place. She describes how sprouting works to strip away toxins. She discusses how to go about it at home. And she also reveals the dirty little secret about the "sprouted flour" industry (how not every product bearing the label "sprouted" actually has been sprouted).

| 389: Water: Wild, Creative, Fluid Intelligence | 18 Oct 2022 | 00:53:21 | |
Water is an observer. Water is wild. Water is a source. Today we explore water's creativity and secret intelligence. And the implications of such water flowing through us. Veda Austin is a water researcher, public speaker, artist, and author. Today, she goes over some surprising facts about water that may change how we relate to it. She describes experiments, for example, that point to how water responds to energy, intentions, and its environment. She reminds us of the fact that water courses through us and that we, as human beings, are essentially bodies of water--and how water ties all life together, physically, energetically, and spiritually. | 388: Curious About The Carnivore Diet? | 10 Oct 2022 | 00:44:28
We've been told that eating healthy means eating a lot of vegetables, but what if plants and vegetables have a "dark side"? What might an animal-based diet do for our health and well-being? There's a lot of buzz about the carnivore diet right now. What does an animal-based diet look like and how can it benefit us? Dr. Paul Saladino, a leading expert on the science and application of the carnivore diet, sheds light on what this kind of diet can do for those on a healing journey. As a conventionally-trained doctor, he was taught very little about nutrition, but he took it upon himself to do a deep dive. What he found changed the course of his practice. Now, he uses the carnivore diet to help patients reverse autoimmune conditions, chronic inflammation, and mental health issues. Today, Paul compares the long-term effects of eating a vegan diet with meat-eaters. (Hint: the latter fare better.) He reviews why animal products are very good for us and why plant foods are less so. He explains why he considers the carnivore diet good for both men and women. And why his own animal-based diet today includes some fruits and even raw milk. As you listen, please keep in mind that the Wise Traditions diet that WAPF recommends is an omnivore diet rich in traditional fat, with moderate amounts of protein and carbohydrates. Rather than eliminating plant foods, we offer methods to make it easier for our bodies to absorb and assimilate them. Nonetheless, we wanted to explore the topic of a carnivore diet in today's episode. | 387: The Pandemic is Over. Now What? | 03 Oct 2022 | 00:50:43
The President of the United States recently declared that the pandemic is over. Now what? Charles Eisenstein offers insights on where we've been and where we are headed. Charles is a bestselling author, public speaker, and social critic. He speaks of the pandemic time as an initiation, or invitation, to investigate new ways of living, both as individuals and as a society. Today, Charles covers several topics, including the broken societal systems that over the past few years valued safety over connection and authority over personal empowerment. He points out how those who dared to challenge the mainstream narrative were ostracized—and how he personally faced such shunning and dealt with it. He points out the futility of the "blame game" many of us are involved in--looking for a scapegoat for our societal woes--and he invites us to take steps to reclaim our sovereignty & humanity. | 386: Slow Fashion | 26 Sep 2022 | 00:33:24
Up to 70% of fabrics used in our clothing today are made from plastic. Slow fashion is a movement like that of "slow food". We seek out good sourcing for what we wear, just as we do with what we eat. Megan Meiklejohn is a sustainability expert in the fashion industry and the Senior Vice President of Supply Chain for Land to Market. Today she helps us look at our clothing through a new lens: what is it made of, where did it come from, and is it good for the land and our bodies? Megan talks about our choices as consumers and how they can help steer the direction of the industry. She weighs in on whether leggings made from water bottles are good or bad, for example, and she tells us which brands are actually working on sustainable sourcing. All in all, she helps provide us with something of a clothing compass for making better choices for our individual health and that of the planet. | 384: Iron Overload | 12 Sep 2022 | 00:39:01
A number of foods on the supermarket shelves are fortified with iron. Is this a good idea? Dr. Leland Stillman, MD., says that it's not. He is convinced that most of us have too much iron in our bodies. Virtually every disease of aging is linked to excess iron accumulation: depression, anxiety, dementia, skin problems, liver failure and more. But common blood work might not reveal this issue. Iron is both a toxin and a nutrient so it can be challenging both to determine whether we are deficient or overloaded. Leland explains tell-tale signs of iron overload and he explains which assessments work and which are limited. He also goes over the nutrients we need (like copper and folate) to help our bodies properly handle iron. Finally, he tells us why donating blood to off-load iron may not be the best solution. And he weighs in on whether cooking with cast iron pans is advisable or not. Visit his website stillmanmd.com for resources and consultations. Register for the Wise Traditions conference. | 383: Can Stress Lead To Cancer? | 05 Sep 2022 | 00:37:49
Stress causes inflammation, dysregulation of the immune system, raises blood sugar, suppresses healing T cells and natural killer cells. But can it lead to cancer? Brandon LaGreca, author of "Cancer, Stress & Mindset," tackles that question today. Brandon is a licensed acupuncturist who, in 2015, was diagnosed with stage 4 non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He achieved full remission eight months later without the use of chemotherapy, radiation, or surgery. Today he discusses how stress is often overlooked as a contributing factor, if not a driving force, that can indeed lead to cancer. He covers what stress does to us biologically and psychologically, and he offers techniques for mitigating its effect, like vagus nerve activation, journaling, prioritizing sleep, and more. His very practical tips can help us all improve our mindset and build greater resilience, whatever the state of our general health.

| 381: The Problem With Commercial Baby Formula | 22 Aug 2022 | 00:29:50 | |
Before commercial baby formula shortages were a concern, Sally Fallon Morell had concerns about the product sold on supermarket shelves. Sally is the president of The Weston A. Price Foundation and the author of "Nourishing Traditions." Today, Sally discusses why commercial infant formula is problematic for babies' growth and healthy development. She goes over formula's ingredients, which in many cases include soy, which has an extremely high estrogen content that can interfere with a baby's hormone function. She covers the history of commercial formula and how it has been marketed to parents. She discusses what alternatives parents have (including homemade formula made with raw goat, cow milk, or even meat). And finally, she makes dietary recommendations for couples hoping to nourish their little ones well and those who hope to conceive a baby one day. | 374: Is the Sun to Blame? Or is it the Sunscreen? | 04 Jul 2022 | 00:36:06
We have been told the sun is harmful and that we need to protect our skin from its rays. But the chemicals used in sunscreens are actually more dangerous for us than the sun; indeed sunscreen is harmful to all life on the planet. Today, we gain insights on the problems with sunscreen and what to do about it from Dr. Elizabeth Plourde, a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and the author of "Sunscreens Biohazard 2: Proof of Toxicity Keeps Piling Up." It's not the sun that causes skin cancer, Elizabeth explains, but rather the chemicals in the sunscreen that disrupt our body's balanced hormone ecosystem with carcinogenic toxins. She talks about the problem of sunscreen mixing with chlorine in swimming pools, turning them into a kind of "toxic soup". Elizabeth also explains why spray sunscreens are especially dangerous and why zinc oxide isn't a particularly good type of protection, either. But she does not leave us without hope. She offers a number of ideas for how to get a healthy amount of sun without burning. She describes how we can build up our sun exposure over time, the importance of coconut oil and a diet high in anti-oxidants and the benefits of the skin's own melanin to provide protection. | 371: Beyond Organic | 13 Jun 2022 | 00:41:06
Do you ever wish we could go back to a time when farmers really cared about their animals and land...and neighbors? Amish farmers Leon and Junior remind us that the time is now, as they describe their vision for farming that goes beyond "organic." Leon Wengerd is the CEO of Green Field Farms and Raymond Yoder (who goes by Junior) is the production manager. Green Field Farms is a certified organic farm coop in Ohio.
Together, they explain how ethical agriculture has historically been a part of the Amish culture and how they are continuing those traditions today. They get specific, from the ground up, discussing soil health and what they do to ensure that it is abundant in minerals to provide the most nutrient-rich produce possible. They emphasize old-fashioned growing methods, knowing the cows by name, and most importantly, how they care for their neighbors (as demonstrated in a recent barn-raising). It's a conversation that highlights the healthy, "beyond organic" options that are available in every facet of our lives.

Today, Marcy Cravat, the producer of the documentary "Terrain" challenges our presumptions. She contrasts germ theory with natural law (or what some call terrain theory). And she explains how these drastically different approaches shape our understanding of the world and our own health. | 369: Is It About Public Health Or Power And Control? | 30 May 2022 | 00:51:18
Worldwide restrictions (like lockdowns and mask mandates) are not supported by science, proving their efficacy. And the objective does not appear to be to restore the public health, anyway, but rather to gain power and control over the population, at large. Leslie Manookian, the President and Founder of the Health Freedom Defense Fund, offers insights about what's going on related to the "pandemic."
Leslie's group was the one behind the case in Florida that overturned mask mandates on public transportation. She explains how they won that case and what she expects down the line. She offers historical context on the infringement of freedoms in the U.S. in particular. She goes over the science (and the lack, thereof) supporting masks and other precautionary measures. And she explains what the recently released Pfizer documents reveal about what this vaccine company knew and knowingly hid from the public. In sum, Leslie offers a compelling case for questioning the mainstream narrative on what's going on, and what to do to protect our freedoms and autonomy in the future.

And to begin to recognize our own intrinsic power to heal. Cassie lifts up the power of the human spirit to bring about changes. She explains how our belief system affects our health, and how what is called the "placebo" effect can be used to our benefit for healing. She reminds us that our bodies are on our side---not trying to sabotage us. And that illness or injury may be one way that they communicate to us. Cassie also speaks to us from her own experience of healing and what she has witnessed with her patients. She calls us to get curious and courageous to explore our full healing potential. | 363: Mental Health: EFT (Tapping) | 25 Apr 2022 | 00:40:43
Emotional Freedom Technique (known as EFT or tapping) is a simple, non-invasive healing technique that moves energy in the body. It has been used to great effect to relieve anxiety, PTSD, improve sports performance, and more. EFT practitioner Bev Nerenberg helps us understand what it is, how it works, and how to get started tapping. Bev has been tapping for decades now. She explains how it can help alleviate emotional and physical issues through a gentle tapping procedure, using the body's meridian system. She tells the story of how she first came across EFT (what she calls "acupuncture without the needles") and how effective it was at helping her deal with anger and other issues. She even walks us through a step-by-step tapping tutorial. Visit Bev's website: wellnessatyourfingertips.com Register for our upcoming Wise Traditions conference. | 362: Mental Health: Shadow Work | 18 Apr 2022 | 01:00:34
Shadow work is the process of exploring the hidden side of yourself. In the work, you learn to let go of facades and ways of relating that are disempowering. Today, Dr. Kelly Brogan invites us to lean into the challenges and enjoy the freedom and growth that can result from increased self-awareness. Kelly is a holistic psychiatrist, the author of A Mind of Your Own and Own Your Self, and the founder of the online healing program Vital Mind Reset. She points out that shadow work helps us break old patterns and to discover what it feels like to really live--feeling our feelings, facing fear, and exploring parts of ourselves that we have either ignored or resisted. She suggests that we begin with curiosity about ourselves, rather than self-judgment or condemnation. She reminds us that at times we may feel like we're actually dying as we sit with uncomfortable feelings. She describes the process as a spiral path of learning, where we revisit lessons throughout our lives. Finally, Kelly reminds us that this work can result in a life characterized by greater joy and overflowing vitality. | 361: Mental Health: Connection To Diet | 11 Apr 2022 | 00:32:34
What does breakfast have to do with mental health? A good deal, according to Sally Fallon Morell, President of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Sally covers today the role nutrition plays in our wellbeing. Nutrient deficiencies can easily lead to mental instability. Sally reviews the nutrients needed for healthy brain and cellular function, like cholesterol and saturated fats. She explains how animal fats work synergistically in the body to create our own cannabinoids, chemicals that regulate reward pathways and increase dopamine release. She helps us understand what to put on the table and what to avoid. Bone broth is in, for example; MSG, soy, and GMOs are out. Basically, she helps us understand how to build a nutrient-dense foundation for good mental and physical health.

| Act Now to Defend Food Freedom with Congressman Thomas Massie | 29 May 2024 | 00:29:50 | |
More and more people are discovering and enjoying raw milk. But it's still not legal in some states. And regulatory hoops hinder the small rancher and farmer when it comes to processing animals and selling their products to the consumer. How can we remove impediments so that consumers can buy the food they want from the provider they choose? And make it easier for providers to sell their products to said consumers without interference? In short, how do we defend our food freedom in the U.S.? Congressman Thomas Massie, the U.S. representative for Kentucky's 4th district, addresses these questions on today's BONUS podcast episode. He offers insights on the raw milk landscape. And he also goes over the PRIME act, why he is backing it and what we can do to support this act's inclusion in the Farm Bill through three simple phone calls (to our 2 senators and 1 representative) here in the United States. | 359: Mental Health: Overmedicated | 28 Mar 2022 | 00:38:49
A waitress takes meds for her insomnia. Then she can't get off of them. An Iraq war veteran suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and takes a variety of meds for over 12 years. A teenager with an eating disorder is prescribed anti-depressants that lead to hallucinations. Each of their stories was featured in the documentary "Medicating Normal." And, today, producer Wendy Ractliffe and Angie Peacock, a veteran who is now a mental health reform advocate, explain why they were involved in the making of the movie and what they think is an often-overlooked issue in mental health circles: how we are over-medicating those suffering with mental health conditions. They cover why so many meds are prescribed (and, yes, overprescribed). They discuss the fallout from side effects and when meds might absolutely be the right choice. They talk about what comes with tapering off from certain meds. And they offer recommendations for how to handle mental health issues differently. Racing thoughts? Chronic stress? Physical dis-ease? Most of us turn to distractions to avoid the pain and discomfort of anxiety and stressors. His protocols include nutrition, movement, meditation and a number of lifestyle practices.
Today, Greg emphasizes the importance of allowing ourselves to actually experience our emotions instead of tamping them down. Greg talks about how we can train the mind, almost as we would train a puppy, and learn to sit with it and grow from it. He also opens up and shares his own story and how he's been able to address his own mental health struggles and to help many others.

| 355: Lessons from (Ab)original People | 07 Mar 2022 | 00:34:24 | |
There is a wisdom in ancient health and lifestyle traditions that has unfortunately been cast aside, leading to deterioration in the overall wellbeing of many aboriginal communities. Dr. Kama Mico, Co-founder of Under the Shade, has been exploring root causes of health crises in a number of indigenous people groups. Today, Kama shares what she's witnessed first-hand among the indigenous people of Elcho Island -- an embracing of overly-processed, "modern" food ways that has made them sicker. Many of us all over the world have also adopted these changes to our detriment. Kama reminds us that we can all return to more natural dietary choices -- eating food from nature, instead of food from factories, for example -- to reclaim our health and vitality. And she shares stories and lessons learned from the (ab)original peoples that can help us live our most vibrant lives today, wherever we are. She covers how the aforementioned chemicals can disrupt our hormone function and overall health. She explains how her journey to heal her daughter's eczema compelled her to research toxins. Kennedy Jr. is the Head of the Children's Health Defense and a staunch advocate for health and medical freedom. | 350: The 5G and COVID-19 Connection | 31 Jan 2022 | 00:44:52
Is there evidence to suggest a relationship between COVID-19 and exposure to wireless radiation, including 5G? Yes. Beverly Rubik, and her colleague Robert Brown, recently published a study in a peer-reviewed journal that concludes that non-native radiation is compromising our health and leading to symptoms that mirror those of COVID-19. Today, Beverly talks about the correlation between COVID and 5G rollout when you look at maps of the two. She describes symptoms—hypercoagulation, hypoxia, headaches, fatigue, memory problems, oxidative stress, immune system disruption, heart arrhythmia, and more—that indicate Covid-19 and/or radiation poisoning. Beverly warns about more 5G being rolled out in January 2022. And lastly, she shares her own experiences with wireless radiation along with simple steps to protect ourselves from additional exposure.
