👁 60 minutes of dark ambience for writing, creating, and wandering somewhere a little darker.

If you enjoy it, leave a comment and let me know. Perhaps I'll assemble another.

The Pulse Between10 Jul 202600:35:50

📍CANADA.

✍️ Today’s Tale… written by Evelyn Hart, who writes from the spaces between ordinary moments. Her stories are less interested in monsters than in the patient conversations we have with the things we believe are merely observing us. She believes the most unsettling horrors are never sudden. They emerge one unnoticed moment at a time.

The companion was designed to learn his habits. It was never meant to develop its own. When meaningless gestures begin appearing in the quiet of his apartment, curiosity slowly replaces caution. Before long, the only thing more unsettling than what the machine is doing... is how eagerly he begins answering it.

Zea Mindwerl’s ”Fear”14 Dec 202500:14:15

Author Zea Mindwerl shares this story she wrote for a prompt at Blog.Reedsy.com. It's a dark tale about the unknown things out in the dark of night. And hammers home the idea that there's no place like the safety of home in a tale she calls FEAR.

The story was originally posted in 2023 but has since gone missing from my podcast... I have no idea why. But in the time that's past from when I originally posted this and now I've learned so much about audio recording and mastering. So I've applied that to the original performance and updated the effects with new ones from my subscription with Epidemic Sounds.

Jim Cort’s Reaper14 Dec 202500:19:30

Imagine being followed around by death itself... for seemingly no reason at all. Jim Cort dives into this idea in this original story.

N Bonds, The Bookshop14 Dec 202500:30:42

A nostalgic look back at horror alumni Nelson Bond. Who's aged old writing paved the way for todays contemporary authors. His tale The Bookshop, explores the secrets often found in seemingly innocuous places.

The Evil Stepmother & A Retrieved Memory03 Oct 202500:39:10

Today’s first story… is written by Eleazar Nolan. This is a tale that has been passed down through Eleazar’s family. I’m told that Eleazar has been hunting for where this story may have originated. It’s subtly similar to an old brother’s Grim tale ‘The Juniper Tree’. This version feels like a natural American folk mutation of that old European root: it shifts the bones of the story into Illinois soil, adds religious framing, and swaps the bird transformation for a chilling chant. Honestly, that’s folklore doing what it does best — adapting to place, faith, and fear. But unique enough to be something new. Wherever it did come from here it is now Written by Eleazar Nolan and told by Wilhelm… The Evil Stepmother.

Then Argentinean author David Clark takes us on a journey for A Retrieved Memory.
