Thanks to the lovely folk at BBC Books we were lucky to get our hands on a MASSIVE haul of brand new Doctor Who Target books AND the debut novel by Bonnie Langford: Death in the Stars.
Geoff was busy on Horsham Film Festival duties but Paul decided to take Bonnie's book away with him on holiday so he could read it on the beach. Which he did!
As anyone who's listened to us before will know, Paul is very particular with his books, and arguably way too obsessed with 'science' for a show which features a magic police box and aliens who can regularly change their form when they get killed.
However, he is a massive fan of Target novels - often dropping into misty-eyed nostalgia as soon as anyone mentions "The Auton Invasion" or "Doctor Who and the Loch Ness Monster".
So what did he think of this brand new original novel written by Bonnie who played the novel's main character, ex Doctor Who companion of the 1980s (recently returned to New-Who) Ms Melanie Bush?
Has Paul fully exorcised his demons since first watching Terror of the Vervoids?
What did he think of Mel and Glitz's relationship?
What does Lord of the Flies have to do with any of this?
Is there any 'hard science' among the shenanigans of Death in the Stars to keep him happy?
And how many cups of tea out of five has he awarded the book?
Listen up to find out the answers to all these questions and more!
Kicking off our series which will celebrate Colin Bakers' Sixth Doctor, his adventures, his companions and his audios - we're going back to the start and taking a look at The Twin Dilemma!
Infamously voted as the WORST Doctor Who story of all time on multiple occasions BUT...is it really as bad as those polls would tell you?
Is there more to enjoy in this serial than the preconceptions would have you believe?
Was the infamous moment between The Doctor and Peri a bad move - both within and outside of the show?
Should we have even approached this serial for review at all?!
You may be surprised by our take on it...
Plus, we hear from fellow Sixie fans including Lucy McCaul, Ian Banks, Gareth Bowley, Katie Hynes and Brandon Foley with their thoughts on the Doctor and his adventures!
And so begins a lot of love for this Doctor and his era!
This is our fan-focused series where we talk to other Whovians and find out all about them and their love of Doctor Who! And in doing so, maybe give you a few new people to follow and interact with in the community.
This time, we're joined by 3 guests from across the Twitterverse...Xverse...whatever it's called today!
We have the host of Hamster With A Blunt Penknife podcast - Mr Joe Ford! Joe gets saucy and outrageous with us and we're sure you'll enjoy his chat as much as we did!
Next up, we have the host of An Awful Lot of Running podcast - Mr Jack Alexander! Jack is less saucy but no less fun to talk to and listen to!
And last, but not least, all the way from the US of A, is Miss Kelly Rosen! Kelly is an amazing Doctor Who fan artist whose work you may well have seen retweeted by the official account, someone named Mandip Gill and in DWM as well!
In this episode, we get to know our guests a little bit, then discover how they discovered Doctor Who, find out which Doctor and era resonates with them the most and have a right laugh in doing so.
Join us again for Part 2 where we find out more about the 3 Whovians...!
In this episode of WHO CORNER TO CORNER, we're joined by not one, but two Doctor Who writing luminaries - Peter Anghelides and Simon Guerrier!
The duo join us to talk about their new book The Daily Doctor, an inspirational page-a-day guide to life gleaned from those moments of Doctor Who in which we learned to appreciate the small things as much as the big things, and know exactly when to run.
We also discuss Big Finish, Blake's 7, the Eighth Doctor novels, working with Tom Baker, the importance of spreadsheets and (unafraid to waste the opportunity of a good plug) Simon gives us not only an exclusive look at the forthcoming 60th anniversary coffee table book Whotopia but also some some insight into his soon-to-be-released David Whitaker biopic which investigates the life and work of Doctor Who's very first story editor!
All this and Geoff makes a hash of the authors' surnames (to his eternal shame), literally just seconds after asking them both how they should be pronounced!
In this week's podcast Paul & Geoff head over to Norway and cast their eyes over Ed Himes' phenomenal Doctor Who story of abandoned children, monsters in the woods, mirror dimensions and a universe that can take on the form of your loved ones as easily as it takes on the form of a fairy tale amphibian: It Takes You Away.
Are we biased? Paul definitely is! It Takes You Away is one of his Top 3 Doctor Who Stories of All Time, and if you want to know why then listen up - better yet, grab your copy of the story and sync it to the podcast for the full, immersive commentary experience!
Don't forget to let us know your thoughts on this Series Eleven classic by dropping a comment on our socials.
The spaceship screamed over the London skyline, trailing a wake of oily black smoke through the cloudless sky. With a terrific 'BONG!' its wing smashed through the clock face of Big Ben, destroying one of the capital's centuries-old icons. The ship banked hard following the collision and with a final roar of its guttering engine, it bellied down spectacularly into the Thames!
This iconic shot from the 2005 Doctor Who revival is the work of visual effects master Mike Tucker - one of the few people to have worked on Classic and New Doctor Who!
Mike began his career working on the Sixth and Seventh Doctor eras before moving on to create Red Dwarfs and Star Bugs for the Red Dwarf show, amongst many others.
Returning to Doctor Who with it's revival, he was responsible for many of the model shots we all know and love including the BAFTA award winning work with Daleks on Day of the Doctor.
In this episode, we talk to Mike about...
his start in the industry
how going to school with Russell T Davies paid off years later
blowing up Daleks
spinning the TARDIS on string
modern CGI over practical effects
writing Doctor Who books and audios
...and of course, much more! So sit back and relax and join us to discover more about the visual effects of our favourite show!
The Trailer for the upcoming 60th Anniversary Specials. No doubt you've seen the trailer by now (who hasn't?), so here is our reaction to the first full-on 2-minute trailer which aired at 18:10 in the UK on Saturday 23 September, only 2 months short of Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary.
In this short, bonus episode (think of it as an end-credit scene to our massive interview with CHRIS CHIBNALL) we fire a whole bunch of questions at the former Doctor Who showrunner to answer the burning issues of fandom.
Let's get FLUXED! We're back in the library (right next to the bar) of a beachside B&B in blistering hot Dorset for Part 2 of our EPIC chat with former Doctor Who showrunner and creator of the 13th Doctor, CHRIS CHIBNALL!
Juiced up on tea, coffee, Coke Zero and water (for Paul because he's sensible) we dive right into the challenges of creating Doctor Who during a pandemic, and for the first time in a public interview Chris talks in great depth about the creation and production of Series 13: Flux.
Just how close did we come to having no Doctor Who at all during Covid? The behind the scenes story of Flux is an adventure almost as incredible as what we saw on screen.
But that's not all! Despite the encroaching heat (and occasional tinkle of glasses and muzak from the bar next door) we also find time to cover plenty more worthy topics of dicsussion and debate, including:
More MYRKA!
Chris's favourite Classic Season of Who
The original plan for Season 13 pre-pandemic
Steven Moffatt's text to Chris during Flux
Getting SWARM wrong...
'Thasmin' and what the Doctor and Yaz's relationship journey means to so many fans
The Dalek episode we didn't get and the one we did get
What did Dan and Yaz do after the Power of the Doctor...
PLUS: we put Chris in the hot seat (literally) and subject him to a game of The Grand Serpent's Asteroid!
We hope you enjoy listening to our interview as much as we did recording it. Chris was incredibly generous with his time and his insight, and yet, after spending the whole afternoon with him, it felt as though there was still so much more that the fans wanted answers to.
On a scorching day at the tail-end of Summer 2023 your intrepid WhoC2C hosts Geoff and Paul climbed into their cars and headed off to the beautiful county of Dorset, to a seaside B&B a mere stone's throw from the locations used in the popular TV crime drama Broadchurch which, as anyone knows, features a cast list as impressive as any Doctor Who spinoff...
However, we weren't interested in the stunning scenery of England's Jurassic Coast! Oh no! We had other things on our minds...
For not only was this session to be the first we'd ever recorded in the same room as each other, but something which we had long been planning and working behind the scenes to make happen was finally about to come together...
We'd booked the B&B's library for the whole afternoon and no sooner had we transformed this tranquil repose into a technology haven littered with strategically-placed mics and recording equipment, than a polite knock at the door announced the arrival of none other than real-life Doctor Who showrunner, CHRIS CHIBNALL!
Anyone who listens to us regularly will know of our mutual love for Jodie's wonderful Doctor and her stories, and now here we were, in the same room as the guy who made it all happen. As you can imagine, having the chance to talk to Chris about some of our favourite Doctor Who of all time was incredibly special and here, in our podcast, we can share with you, our lovely listeners, the entirety of that 3-hour+ interview across two special podcast episodes.
Settle down, because part one is gonna be a helluva ride for all Doctor Who fans as we hear from Chris about:
The hope and optimism of the Thirteenth Doctor...
Life after handing back the TARDIS keys...
Chris's excitement for the future of Doctor Who...
Which of his episodes had a planned sequel that didn't happen...
Keeping secrets and surprises in his Doctor Who...
Cliffhangers and binge watching...
What happens when monsters don't quite work...
Bringing back past Doctors for Power of the Doctor...
The process of writing and discovery within that...
Jodie's magnificent Doctor and her "cinematic clowning"...
The Writer's Room...
The ITV Showrunner Programme...
The unlimited creative framework of Doctor Who...
The production decisions behind him taking on Doctor Who...
Inclusion and representation in Doctor Who
Agatha Christie and Broadchurch...
We hope you enjoy listening to Chris as much as we did talking with him so make sure to jump in on our
With a flick of the randomiser, the Doctor and Rebel Jim are transported to the city of Homs in Syria, 704 AD!
Here, they meet King Marwen 1 and his alchemist Khalid ibn Yazid. The Doctor and Rebel are shown the strange but familiar metals Khalid has discovered and realise the city needs protecting...urgently!
We're back with another game of the Cubicle7 Doctor Who RPG! This time around, Graham is our gamesmaster, Geoff is attempting to be the Thirteenth Doctor and Paul is his original character Rebel Jim!
This adventure takes us back centuries, into a bustling marketplace, a dabble in alchemy, a trip to the desert and a battle with...well...you'll need to listen to find out who!
If you're a collector of Doctor Who action figures then this one is for you!
We're joined again by Ed Barnett-Ward - the head of The Affable Company, the main designers/sculptors for the Character Options range of Doctor Who figures!
In this episode, we talk about a lot of stuff and we mean a LOT, including...
The forthcoming B&M figures from the Five Doctors and Revelation of the Daleks
Sculpting Richard Hurndall as the Doctor
Which action figure looks like Ed plus his striking resemblance to a well-known movie director
What figures were prototyped but never produced
What treasured item did Peter Capaldi sign for Ed
What it's like for a Star Wars fan working at Skywalker Ranch
Where the best pasty shop in Cornwall is
What might be coming out in the range in future... or not coming out...
PLUS: we talk to Ed about his Father's role as Head Camera Operator during the very early years of Doctor Who and take a look at some of his personal items from that time.
As always, there's so much more, including a few exclusives you won't hear - or see - anywhere else!
The situation seems dire! The Doctor and companions are cornered, unable to escape as an evil, horrific alien creature bears down on them and - CUT! Cue the howl of the theme music as another cliffhanger is born!
In this episode, we take a look at some of our favourite Doctor Who cliffhangers from across the years and discuss why they're so important to the appeal and longevity, the very DNA of our favourite show.
With an eye on the Classic era, Paul talks us through his favourites and Geoff looks to the most memorable of the Modern era for his. If you've listened to us before, you can probably guess Geoff's pick!
We also take a look at some of your favourites too and get into some tangents about streaming data and viewing figures, modern broadcasting and a dislike of the phrase "piece of content".

Sandwiched between The Doctor Dances and Bad Wolf, Boom Town is the story our Twitter followers voted for as the Series One story they'd most like us to make a commentary on! And who are we to disappoint?
Picking up the story of Blon Fel-Fotch Passameer-Day Slitheen (or Margaret) who escaped the deadly missile hit on 10 Downing Street at the end of Aliens of London/ World War Three, is this just a simple throwaway 'filler' episode caught between two powerful giants, or a unique character piece on which pivots a number of themes that become far more significant as the Russell T Davies era progresses?
Let's find out together!
For the full interactive experience, queue up your copy of Boom Town and get ready to hit PLAY as you stream this episode of Who Corner to Corner!
To celebrate Doctor Who Podcast Day 2023, we've put together a brand new bonus episode!
The Doctor Who Podcast Day team created this wonderful event to celebrate everyone who makes Doctor Who podcasts and those who listen to them. We are blessed to be part of a creative, passionate community of podcasters who love Doctor Who!
So here's Episode 101: in which we give you a taste of the fun we have on WHO CORNER TO CORNER with the aid of a few choice clips from some of our featured special guests!
If this is your first step in exploring the Whoniverse from Corner to Corner with us - welcome! If you stick along for the ride we promise you'll find our podcasts brimming with energy and positivity, and maybe a splash of good humour too!
And to everyone who has joined us to indulge in our favourite show, whether as a listener or a guest - here's a truly massive group hug!
Here it is! Our 100th episode! 100 weekly episodes of Who Corner to Corner recorded to date - brilliant!
For this milestone episode, we racked our brains on how best to celebrate the achievement so we turned it over to you and asked you to send us questions on Doctor Who...or anything else at all!
So we talk about a whole load of things here including how we met, how the podcast name was originated, whether we have liked or disliked a story more upon rewatch, what would we podcast about if not Doctor Who (there's a good answer here), which guest would we most like to get on the show (it's surely obvious), who our favourite companions are, what videogames we play and much, much more!
Plus! Geoff is challenged to a game of The Grand Serpents Asteroid as well!
Threaded through the entire 60+ years of Doctor Who there lurks a handful of stories that drop mountains into what we think of as the placid waters of the show's 'canon' or 'lore'.
Stories such as The Time Meddler, which first introduced us to another fugitive from the Doctor's home planet, or The War Games which transported viewers to its hallowed halls for the very first time, or The Deadly Assassin which gave us a whistle-stop tour of Gallifrey and established much of what has since been taken as the unshakeable truth of the Time Lords' heirarchy, history and way of life.
There are others too: The Three Doctors introduced us to one of the Time Lords' founders whilst The Five Doctors explored the hitherto unheard-of Dark Times of Gallifrey. There's Remembrance of the Daleks too, and Silver Nemesis, both of which suggested there may be more to the Doctor than we thought we knew.
Let's not forget 1976's The Brain of Morbius, which first posited the possibility that there may have been more incarnations of the Doctor which existed prior to what we fans think of as his first.
Fugitive of the Judoon arguably drops the most explosive bombshell into the canon of Doctor Who than any of these, not only confirming that the Doctor has more faces than she can remember, it's a story which showed us one of those faces in action!
And no one outside of the production cast and crew knew it was coming!
Grab your disc, queue the story and join us in real-time as Paul, Geoff and Freya relive the events of what we all thought was going to be a fun romp with Space Rhinos in Glastonbury. The return of Captain Jack? Pah! Fugitive of the Judoon had many more suprises waiting to unfold in its mere 50 minutes of run-time than that...

Join us along with our Twitter friend Graham aka Robot of Death as we catch up with The Doctor and Rebel and find out how they get out of this inescapable situation!
We're having great fun coming up with the ideas for these RPG stories and discovering just how hard it really is to write Doctor Who at the same time!
Take a listen to find out how the game players resolve this adventure and discover the shocking made up link between the Vashta Nerada and another Doctor Who adventure seen on screen!
We take the TARDIS on a trip to the future to discuss where Doctor Who is going for it's 60th anniversary and beyond!
We talk about the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate with Russell T Davies and our hopes for their reunion plus a few worries as well.
We look at Doom's Day and Once and Future and discuss these accompanying anniversary story events and what we think of them and trying to keep up with them.
Plus we go on a thrilling - or not so thrilling depending on your point of view - ramble about U2 and "early music", streaming movies, Indiana Jones and nostalgia bait.
The Flux has devastated the Universe. Time is running wild on a planet that shouldn't exist. The Doctor, Yaz, Dan and now, Bel and Vinder must battle to survive!
On a podcast that does exist, we're joined by a guest who helped make the madness and wonder of Once, Upon Time happen - producer Pete Levy!
Pete has also produced episodes of Casualty, and was the VFX Producer on Series 11 and 12 of Doctor Who and is currently the VFX Producer on the new series of Walking with Dinosaurs!
As we go through the episode, we talk with Pete about...
One of the most highly-regarded Doctor Who stories ever returns to print in a new and expanded Target novelisation: Warriors Gate and Beyond, written by its original author, Stephen Gallagher!
Unable to resist the lure of talking to the creator of one of Paul's all-time favourite Doctor Who stories, we ran headlong into the Time Winds and tossed a coin to manifest Stephen so we could pin him down for a feature-length interview and give us the inside scoop on not only the new novelisation but also his original scripts for this seminal 1981 serial!
Set your coordinates to 00000.0000.0 and tune in right now to hear how Stephen got started writing horror and sci-fi, how he felt about the way his scripts were treated by the Doctor Who production team back in the day (and how he feels about them now), and what led to the expanded new Target novelisation "Warriors' Gate and Beyond" due out this July!
PLUS (because we just had to) we also chat to Stephen about his other Doctor Who story TERMINUS and take a sneaky peek at what he's working on with Cutaway Comics!
If you're a fan of Warriors' Gate, you DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!
Another fan-favourite episode with the Tenth Doctor and Donna is coming to print in the new range of Target novels and this week we're talking to the writer behind Planet of the Ood - Keith Temple!
Keith took the Doctor and Donna to the icey homeworld of the Ood and showed Donna the wonders and horrors that the universe, and humanity, has to offer.
We talk to Keith about how he approached adapting his TV episode into a novel, the bits he was able to add, the moments he could expand upon and how it feels to contribute to the iconic Target line!
We of course talk about the development of the TV episode itself as well as how Keith got started in the industry, what led to his work on Doctor Who (dreams can come true you know!) and what he is up to today.
Plus we ask a few quickfire questions and challenge Keith to a game of The Grand Serpents Asteroid!
In advance of the 2023 wave of Doctor Who Target novels, including his own adaptation of a classic episode, we're joined this week by a name many will recognise from his vast contributions to the worlds of Doctor Who - Phil Ford!
Phil has been involved in Doctor Who for many years now - working first on Torchwood's second season, then moving to the Sarah Jane Adventures on which he eventually took on Head Writer duties. Afterwards he went on to create another hit TV series: Wizards vs Aliens! What a career!
For Doctor Who, Phil co-wrote the penultimate Tenth Doctor story The Waters of Mars with Russell T Davies which gave us a terrifying glimpse of the 'Time Lord Victorious' and quickly became a fan favourite.
Due for release in July 2023 is Phil's self-penned Target novelisation of The Waters of Mars. This adaptation expands and enriches what has been called the "scariest Doctor Who story ever"!
In our chat with Phil, we discuss many things including...
#His start in TV
Writing for Coronation Street
Getting involved in Doctor Who
Developing The Waters of Mars
Creating The Flood and scaring kids with them
Re-visiting his episode and writing the book
Plus we ask a few quickfire questions and challenge Phil to a game of The Grand Serpents Asteroid!
Oh, and we have a massive geek out over a shared love for Schwarzenegger as well!
The Doctor and her new companion Rebel ‘Jim’ Spinner get an email which offers them a free escape room game!
Never one to turn down some fun and games, despite being burnt by the last free holiday she won, The Doctor goes for it.
Once they arrive, The Doctor and Rebel meet fellow gamer Exotic Simon and get stuck into the escape room but of course, fun soon starts to become fear as things are revealed and the game becomes dangerous…
In this episode we bring on gaming aficionado Graham aka Robot of Death to join us as we play the Doctor Who RPG from Cubicle7 games!
With Geoff - as Gamesmaster - leading the story he devised and Paul playing as his own character Rebel, Graham takes the role of the Thirteenth Doctor as they venture into the escape room…only to end on a cliffhanger and a reveal the players never saw coming!
Join us as we try something new which turned out to be a lot of fun and if you enjoy this game-based episode and want to hear the second part then let us know and we’ll do it!
Find out more about the Cubicle7 Doctor Who RPG HERE
Avast, ye brigands, and gather round. Forsooth, we share with ye a merry tale of impossible heroes, fair maidens, villainous sherriffs and most devilish automata, all abound within the great Forest of Sherwood as 'twas many centuries ago.
Aye, with a twinkle in his eye, our hero, young Robin Hood doth trade banter and larks with a be-frowned grey-haired physic of dubious origin who dares question his impunity, nay, even his corporeal existence!
Meanwhile, testing the bounds of this fiction further, our genial hosts Mr. Geoff and Mr. Paul bestow upon our story as it unfoldeth, a chorus of omnipotent oration, where one doth take up the position of adoring admirer, the other that of cowardly cynic.
But which is which..?
Dare ye partake in revelry simultanous to the emerging tale?
We do the Who Corner to Corner podcast because we love Doctor Who and we know you listen because you also love Doctor Who!
We asked our listeners to tell us why they love the show; was there a moment that made them fall in love with it?
Turns out there were quite a few moments they wanted to share!
So here they are: a whole TARDIS full of us and other fans talking about why they love the greatest show in the galaxy.
So sit back, relax and enjoy finding out why we and other fans love Doctor Who. And then tell us yourself - you'll find us on on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube & Facebook!
The latest episode in our ESSENTIAL series takes a diversion from Doctors to talk DALEKS!
We're taking a look at stories we feel are ESSENTIAL viewing for the pepperpot baddies - not necessarily stories you must watch to get the bigger picture but could be ones we really enjoy on their own merits.
Paul takes a look at Classic Who whilst Geoff peruses Modern Who. Their task: to select 5 essential Dalek stories each.
PLUS we live tweet to get a guage on our listeners' favourite Dalek stories as we record which is all a bit wibbly wobbly... ah, you know the rest!
So join us as we get stuck into Skaro's finest... nay... worst and discuss their best!
As we get ready for the return of David Tennant and Catherine Tate to Doctor Who, we decided to re-visit one of their past highlights and record a commentary track for it!
Join us then as we go back to ancient Rome, specifically Pompeii, to a day etched forever into the history books but this time, the TARDIS Team are living it for real!
In the Fires of Pompeii, the Tenth Doctor and Donna go on a trip to Rome and accidentally land in Pompeii and then the adventure starts.
Neither of us have watched this episode in some years, although we did talk to the writer James Moran last year about his Target Novel adaptation (listen HERE) and decided we should take a look back at it on screen again!
Does an episode considered a classic still hold up? Load up your copy and join us as we commentate our way through it and let's find out...

Arwel started working on Doctor Who when it returned to TV in 2005, moving up to Production Designer on the Thirteenth Doctor's first series. The start of a new series within our podcast where we look at a specific Doctor and discuss our ESSENTIAL episodes for them! We're kicking this off with a look at the Eleventh Doctor...
Now, these ESSENTIAL episodes may not just be covering the show, we might look at what we think are some essential Big Finish stories to listen to, books to read or comics to enjoy.
These ESSENTIAL episodes are our favourites which we feel really show a Doctor to their best, they may be recommendations for starting points for new viewers, they may be episodes we think need more love...basically there are no rules here!
This week we look at our 5 ESSENTIAL Eleventh Doctor episodes and some choices will surprise you and how many Geoff and Paul both pick which are the same may surprise you too but mostly, there's a lot of love for Eleven here so let's go...GERONIMO!
