E109: Stepping Outside Your Story: Embracing Vulnerability and Conscious Leadership03 Sep 202400:48:31

Send us a text

Hey there, listeners!

In this episode, I want to dive into something that’s been on my mind lately—how our personal stories shape who we are and how we show up in the world. I’ve been reflecting on the narratives we tell ourselves and how they can sometimes limit us from reaching our full potential.

I’ll be sharing some of my own experiences with the stories I’ve told myself and how stepping outside of those narratives has led to profound changes in my life. We’ll explore practical tips for identifying and challenging the beliefs that might be holding you back and discuss how you can rewrite your story to align with your highest aspirations.

We’ll also touch on the courage it takes to confront these personal stories and make conscious choices that reflect your true self. Think of this episode as a gentle nudge to look at your own story from a new perspective and find ways to step into a narrative that empowers and uplifts you.

So, grab a cup of coffee, get comfy, and let’s embark on this journey together. I hope you leave this episode feeling inspired to take charge of your story and move forward with renewed purpose.

I can’t wait for you to listen!

Ready to LEAD with IMPACT 🎯 Get the details here.

With warmth and encouragement,
Cynthia

E94: The Power of Pausing: Reflecting on Your Leadership Journey28 May 202400:18:50

Send us a Text Message.

In our latest episode, I delve into the transformative power of taking breaks. Here's a glimpse of what you’ll discover:

Behind-the-Scenes Insights

Last week, a casual conversation with my husband about needing a break led to a profound realization about the true essence of "recreation." Curious? Tune in to find out more!

Debunking Common Leadership Myths

  • "If I take a break, I'll fall behind." This may feel true, but can we ever really know? Pushing ourselves too hard often leads to burnout. Consider that a break might actually bring new opportunities by refreshing your mind.
  • "My team expects me to be always available." This is often self-imposed. Your team likely wants you to take care of yourself so you can perform at your best.
  • - "My value comes from my productivity and achievements." While this may feel true in a work context, it’s crucial to remember that your worth isn’t solely tied to your output. I used to believe this myself, but now I know my value comes from who I am as a person.

Personal Reflections and Growth

I’ll share my own journey over the past six months—embracing entrepreneurship, prioritizing self-care, and achieving significant milestones. From consistent meditation practices to exciting professional achievements, it’s been a transformative period.

Reflect on your own leadership journey with these questions:

  1. What are the milestones or accomplishments you're most proud of in the last six months?
  2. How have you prioritized self-care and personal growth during this time?
  3. Are there any areas where you've challenged yourself and experienced growth?
  4. What connections or relationships have you nurtured that bring you joy and fulfillment?
  5. How have you balanced professional goals with personal well-being?

Remember, "Leadership isn't just about pushing forward—it’s also about taking the time to pause, reflect, and re-create."

Ready to pause, reflect, and recreate? Listen to the full episode and discover how taking a break can unlock new opportunities and refresh your leadership approach.

Thank you for joining me today. Remember, leadership isn't just about forging ahead—it’s also about taking the time to pause, reflect, and re-create.

Until next week, keep leading with purpose and passion.

E92: Charting the Course of Your Leadership Transformation: From Archetypes to Action14 May 202400:39:05

Send us a text

As a seasoned HR professional who took the plunge into entrepreneurship, I've learned that leadership is not just about the title; it's about the transformation. On "Who Are You to Lead Anyway?" I, Cynthia Jamieson, peel back the layers of my own metamorphosis, propelled by the wisdom of Carolyn Miss's "Archetypes: A Beginner's Guide to Your Inner-net." From the liberator's call to challenge the status quo to the storyteller's craft of sharing one's narrative, I share how these archetypes have been pivotal in reshaping myself as a leader.

Embodying leadership archetypes is no fleeting trend; it's a commitment to authentic expression in every facet of life. In this discussion, I reveal my own journey—how the liberator archetype emboldened me to dismantle limiting norms and how the storyteller allowed me to captivate and influence through vulnerability and creativity. These aren't just tales from the trenches; they're real examples, including this very podcast of showcasing the profound growth that comes with aligning one's actions with a true sense of self.

Reflecting on my path, I emphasize the vital connection between our everyday choices and our loftiest aspirations. This episode isn't solely about my transformation; it's a call to action for you to step into the archetypes that resonate with the leader you're destined to become. So join me on this expedition of self-discovery and leadership evolution, as we together chart a course towards intentional, positive change.

Do you ever feel the unrelenting need to control everything around you, especially when stepping into a new role? Today on the "Who Are You to Lead, Anyway?" podcast, I share a personal encounter from a morning walk and a Voxer exchange with a friend facing a higher leadership position. Send us a text

Today we’re flipping things around where I'm the guest not the host!

A few months ago, I was invited to have a conversation on the Talent Management Truths Podcast hosted by the wonderful and talented Lisa Mitchell.  If you've been a listener for a while Lisa's name might ring a bell because I interviewed her in episode 18: An Inside View of Leadership Development - be sure to check it out!

Lisa works with Talent Management Leaders to embed talent programs that drive results and elevate organizational culture. She supports them through transformational coaching, consulting and training for them AND the companies they serve. I shared some of my experience in this area and we had a great conversation about helping new leaders live authentically.

So today, I invite you to tune into this episode of Talent Management Truths and discover through our discussion:

  1. The case for investing MORE in new and emerging leaders
  2. The power of “AND” thinking (vs. OR) to create positive shifts
  3. Insights into what burnout looks like in today’s workplace

I also shared parts of my leadership journey, the lessons I've learned along the way, and Lisa and I discovered some surprising connections we have in common and dropped a lot of great nuggets if I do say so myself.

I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed being a part of this conversation.

Send us a Text Message.

Have you ever caught yourself chasing the next thrill, only to realize you've strayed from your true path? This is the restless saboteur within, a common adversary for many leaders, including myself. As part of our 12 Days of Christmas Leadership Series on 'Breaking Up with Self Sabotage', we tackle this very issue. With the New Year unfolding, we’re wishing for your leadership journey to be laden with learning, courage, and victories. Today's focus is on quelling that inner restlessness that craves constant novelty, a trait that can spark innovation but also lead us astray from our core responsibilities and goals.

Harnessing my own boundless energy and zest for new experiences, I share how I've learned to set boundaries and stay grounded in the present—practices that are far from easy, but incredibly rewarding. I'll walk you through the importance of understanding the reasons behind your restlessness and how implementing tools like timers and accepting nudges from loved ones (a big thank you to my dear husband, Greg) can help redirect your focus. We also discuss transforming that impatient energy into productivity, allowing you to become the empathetic and effective leader destined to inspire and influence. Join us as we embrace the present, channel our energies wisely, and step confidently into our leadership roles, ready to make a lasting impact.
