| Inspiring Jewelry From An Inspiring Woman Giving Back {Featuring Satya Scainetti} | 26 May 2020 | 00:51:46 | |
Satya Scainetti is the founder and designer of Satya Jewelry and has collaborated with some well-known people, such as Marie Forleo, Courteney Cox, Patricia Arquette, Christy Turlington, Gabby Bernstein, and Yoga Girl Rachel Brathen to name a few. Satya’s journey didn’t start in jewelry and her name wasn’t even her name 18 years ago. Through a retreat in the Bahamas 20 years ago, Satya found her calling which has led to a business that is purposeful, philanthropic and successful. Satya is sharing her story, how listening to your gut can be life changing and her #1 tool for success. You’re going to be inspired to give back and find your purpose. What we’re talking about
Satya’s Journey To Discovering Her Passion From Yoga To Jewelry Satya has her degree in social work and was a social worker who became disenchanted with her job. She tried being a preschool teacher but found she wasn’t making the impact she wanted, so she embarked on a 35 day teaching course in the Bahamas where she meditated, practiced yoga and ate vegetarian food. It was on that trip that she had a dream that she was destined to design jewelry and donate money for children around the world. 18 years ago, Satya launched Satya Jewelry, the first yoga inspired jewelry line that is meaningful, inspiring and gives back to nonprofits. She collaborates with likeminded people and has a focus on giving back to children. How Following Your Passion Leads To Success Launching a business and finding your passion might appear to be like water and oil in many ways, but it’s the obstacles we put in our own way of needing money to launch a business that is really what’s standing in our way. Satya launched her business with $10,000 and the power of being fearless. She was incorporated within a week and started making money immediately. We all have the answers inside us, but we don’t make the time to get quiet and listen to them.
Your first goal should be to stay true to your mission first and foremost. Satya wanted to create jewelry that covered all truths and found her gift. Find your gift, the thing that you’re most passionate about and build it. You will find that it’s much easier to solve the business problems than it is to be brave enough to pursue what you want to do. Once you figure out what it is you want to do, discover the unique part that sets you apart from anyone else in the world doing what you’re doing and expand on it. For Satya, that was becoming the first yoga inspired jewelry designer. Satya also says you have to be flexible and let go of tunnel vision. The universe might have a different plan for you, but that could end up being much larger than you are even imagining. Trust that the doors will open where you need them to in order to move forward in your business and know that it’s ok when you make a wrong business move. Learn from it, grow from it and know that everything doesn’t have to be perfect. How Gratitude Can Change Your Outlook On Life Satya starts her day in the same way every day and shares how this #1 tool can change your outlook on life. She wakes up at least 30 minutes before her twin 11 year old sons and lights a candle. After a few deep breaths, she connects to her inner power, her source and tells herself that she will be fine. She asks herself what she’s grateful for because by starting out in gratitude, the outside things aren’t as powerful as they seem. Connect with yourself, what you’re grateful for and your outlook on life will change for the positive. Have you found your passion that is leading you to success? LINKS MENTIONED
| From Single & Hungry to Engaged & Full: A Love Story About Waiting For Your Cheeseburger {With Kara & Caleb} | 19 May 2020 | 00:55:17 | |
You might recognize Kara Elise, host of celebrity wellness parties from her previous interview where she compared her previous relationships to various foods. Now, Kara has not only met her cheeseburger, but is engaged to him! West Point Grad, former NFL Draft Pick, and motivational speaker, Caleb Campbell is joining Kara on today’s episode and we are talking about their journey to finding themselves and then each other. What began as two single people who were on separate journeys has turned into a couple who are working together and have launched a podcast that is asking all the right questions. Between curating dinner parties to creating spaces for people to feel more understood, this couple is changing lives and encouraging people to lead their lives in a way that serves them. You have to be your own cheeseburger, because someone else isn’t the answer to your hunger. What we’re talking about
Kara & Caleb’s Journeys to Finding Themselves, Then Each Other Kara and Caleb’s journeys were similar in that they were both working on themselves in order to make space for the right person to come into their lives. One of the keys in that was for them to accept their lives where they were at that moment. Caleb describes it as a journey of where you are, accepting it and a journey of letting go. It’s about acceptance of your life and that if it were to never change, being ok with that. Kara and Caleb attended the same writing workshop together and on day 1, Kara had decided she was content with her life as it was and Caleb opened up to everyone by crying. Both knew that they had to trust that the universe was for them and that being vulnerable would allow for inner healing. Caleb’s former life involved the NFL, but it had not been about the NFL. It had been a time of finding significance. Looking back, he realizes that by looking for significance, he wonders when he was actually robbed of it in the first place, needing to search for it. Living A Life Unattached To “Things” As most couples do, Kara and Caleb have discussed money. Neither of them have felt it was a priority because it’s always been taken care of, but money is something we want to control, hold onto and figure out. The same can be said about eating disorders. It’s not about the food, but about feeling safe and in control. Both are used as coping mechanisms. Kara and Caleb don’t want to live life attached to “things” or things looking a certain way, whether it’s relationships, money or anything else. The Importance Of Finding Value & Giving Value Value begets value. Caleb shares that every time you give value, value will be returned to you, therefore you can make amazing things happen every single day by what you do. In order to bring value, you need to come from a place of operating out of the present and with a want to continuously grow and evolve. Caleb and Kara have done the inner work and healing and want to offer it externally, which is why they launched their new podcast. It’s not about finding answers in life, but about asking the right questions. Every question leads to the journey of answering that question. Are you asking the right questions of yourself? | A Doctor's POV: Coronavirus Do’s & Don'ts {With Dr. Ben Johnston & Alyssa Rosenheck} | 12 May 2020 | 01:14:05
There is information overload right now with all things coronavirus related and it can seem overwhelming. We are getting some clear do’s and don’ts from Dr. Ben Johnston and his wife, Alyssa Rosenheck (she’s been on the podcast before!). We are getting Dr. Ben’s medical point of view after talking to numerous doctors and reading a lot of research. We are also hearing from Alyssa who is an interiors and architectural photographer and sharing her views as a business owner who is anticipating a book tour in the fall. Disclosure: Dr. Ben is an ear, nose and throat surgeon, not an epidemiologist or virologist. The views expressed in this interview are his. Please consult your doctor for opinions, your personal risks, and diagnosis. Let’s have an honest conversation about Coronavirus! What we’re talking about
Dr. Ben’s Views On Wearing A Face Mask If you go to the grocery store, you most likely see people in face masks, but there are still some who aren’t wearing masks. There are different types of masks such as the N95 which is designed to protect physicians and medical staff. Dr. Ben says wearing a mask really depends on the setting and environment. He recommends wearing a mask especially if you are indoors and have a prolonged exposure to others. If you are outdoors, such as at a beach, then the value of a mask might not be as high as if you are indoors. The important thing to remember is that wearing a mask protects those around you. Wearing a mask is a sign of solidarity and community and you are supporting your community when you wear one. What Does The Future Of Social Interacting Look Like? Summer is coming up and so are 4th of July celebrations, but what will those celebrations look like? Dr. Ben discusses the risk tolerance of being infected and how that will determine what social interaction is going to look like in the months to come. With warmer weather come the hopes of a reprieve in the virus and a prediction that families and communities will want to come together again. Most likely we won’t see big city gatherings for fireworks displays though. As more testing and research on antibodies come out, we’ll know more, but right now there’s no reason to cancel everything in the future. Dr. Ben advises you should have cautious optimism, but also have a really strong Plan B. Alyssa reminds us that the opportunities could have unexpected positive results and outcomes, so don’t get discouraged. Pre-Existing Conditions & The Risk Of Coronavirus Alyssa is a thyroid cancer survivor, but that fact doesn’t necessarily make her high-risk for contracting Coronavirus. High risk factors include being over the age of 65 and a weakened immune system. | The #1 Thing To Do During COVID-19 Quarantine (Work From Home PART 2) | 05 May 2020 | 00:22:35
Today I am celebrating the fact that we’ve made it through another day during quarantine! We are still on lockdown and there are definitely some sweet times with the kids, but it is hard to parent and work at the same time. For that reason alone, we are celebrating the fact that we are doing a great job and you should be doing the same. I am not a multi-tasker when it comes to dealing with 2 important things such as work and being a parent at the exact same time. I built my business so that I wouldn’t have to do both of these important things at the same time, but right now, we have to do it all. Last week, we discussed the #1 thing you should do with your kids and today we are talking about the #1 thing you should do with your work during this time. Hint...it has to do with cutting your to-do list in half! You’re doing a great job! Keep showing up! What we’re talking about
Deciding Your Future 3 Years From Now Work is an important part of our lives and how we show up during this time can be overwhelming. To help you figure out how to show up, look at 6 months from now and decide how you want to look back on this time. In order to decide what we want that to look like, create your 3 year manifesto and start planning how your life will look 3 years from now. By doing this, you’ll know what to focus on during this time and it will help you discover what the meaningful things are. Simplifying Your Work To Do List Simplify your work to do list by only focusing on the things that are truly meaningful. You’re going to discover what is meaningful to you by working on your 3 year manifesto and deciding what you want your life to look like. Cut your to do list in half and make those tasks the most significant ones that will help you move the needle in your business. Your New Ritual - Celebrating Every Night We all have a natural tendency to focus on the things we should have done instead of focusing on celebrating the things we have done. Every night, take some time to write down 10 things you accomplished that day and notice the small things. From taking a shower to getting a workout in, you’re doing it all and you’re doing a great job! Start celebrating your accomplishments consistently and teach your brain to become more resilient. Celebrate yourself every single day! Are you celebrating how amazing you are? LINKS MENTIONED EP 119: The #1 Thing To Do During COVID-19 Quarantine (Work From Home With Kids Edition)
| The #1 Thing To Do During COVID-19 Quarantine (Work From Home With Kids Edition) | 27 Apr 2020 | 00:21:34 | |
We are currently still on lockdown due to COVID-19 and even though times seem crazy, my gratitude has skyrocketed. I’m grateful for the moments that I get to be with myself to listen to what I want or do what I want to refuel my soul. These moments aren’t happening all too often since we are all home as a family and working with our kids. This is a brand new normal and none of us know what the new kind of standard of living will look like, but it will be complicated. There is a difference between surviving and sheltering in place and in the most intense moments, there are things we need to remember and can continue to remember even when things go back to whatever normal will look like. I’m sharing how we’re handling quarantine as a family, how I’m handling it as an individual and sharing my tips to take with you as you navigate this new world. Let’s reset, be intentional and thoughtful about how we want to show up. What we’re talking about
The #1 Thing You Should Ask Yourself During Quarantine The #1 thing you should be asking yourself during quarantine is “How do I want to say I showed up during this time in my life 6 months from now?”. Let’s fast forward to 6 months from now and look at the bigger picture. What will have mattered during this time when it comes to our kids? Chances are that screen time is going to matter less and quality time spent dancing and laughing will have mattered more. How To Stay Present As A Parent Staying present as a parent is more complicated due to the balance of staying present as a worker. You’re probably dealing with more temper tantrums and worrying about school work, but with emotions on either a high or a low, it’s important to be proactive instead of reactive. Think about why you wanted to have kids in the first place. You didn’t have kids to ensure they followed the rules or ate their dinner. You became a parent because you loved the idea of having a family and loving your child. Think about why you became a parent, how you want to make your kids feel during this time, and how you want to feel as a parent during this time. Go back to the root of why you became a parent, focus on that, and you’ll breathe easier. The Importance Of Showing Up Intentionally When you show up intentionally you will be proactive in your actions and you can retrain your brain. By showing up intentionally for the important people and moments in your life, you’ll not only feel prouder of yourself, but you’ll also create more memories. Memories that include dance parties and watching trash trucks together instead of disciplining and temper tantrums. Remind yourself to have play time by adding an appointment in your calendar for it. Set aside time for the things that are important to you to ensure they happen. How are you going to show up intentionally during quarantine?
| How To Learn From Your Past & Pivot Your Business (Featuring David Meltzer) | 21 Apr 2020 | 00:36:23 | |
Speaker, author, and entrepreneur, David Meltzer is not only providing people with value, but is on a mission to bring happiness to one billion people. Being in the middle of a crisis with COVID-19, many people are starting to question what to do in their businesses and if they should give up altogether. David is encouraging you to pivot in your business instead of quitting. As the co-founder of Sports 1 Marketing, former CEO of the Leigh Steinberg Agency (the inspiration for Jerry Maguire!), top 100 business coach, executive producer of Elevator Pitch, host of top entrepreneur podcast, The Play Book, Variety magazine’s Sports Humanitarian of the Year, and Ellis Island award winner, David knows what it means to launch a business and stick with it. Once driven by money, David is now passionate about being happy, making others happy and is sharing how you can do the same. It’s time to start empowering people to empower people! What we’re talking about
How Do You Know When To Let Go Of A Business Idea? In short, you shouldn’t let go of a business idea. David says business is evolutionary, not revolutionary, therefore you should simply pivot. Constant pivot will create expansion and acceleration in your business. Pivoting along with being persistent every day will for negative energies and obstacles out of your way. What you see as failure and mistakes are actually the expansion, growth and skill development that you are acquiring. David reminds us that knowledge will only occur when you ask for help and that it happens over time. Learning To Love What You Do It is possible to take whatever you are doing right now and learn to love doing it. David shares how we all have the ability to change our mindset which will change our lives. One of the tools David uses is to work on what you are paying attention AND intention to because it equals the coincidences that you will experience. Coincidences stem from perspectives and mindsets and you must clear the interference of what you’re already connected to in order to make room for what you love doing. You get to decide what you enjoy doing and how much value you want to provide. Ask yourself what you can get done out of importance, not urgency. How Happiness Is A Contagious Virus That Needs To Be Spread We may be seeing the coronavirus in the news, but David reminds us that there is another virus out there…called happiness. Happiness is the most powerful virus and can be spread by witnessing it. It’s contagious. Happiness has unlimited capability of power and allows you to impact others to impact others to make people happy. How will you spread the happiness virus and create a positive impact? | How To Find A New Job (When It Feels Like Nothing's Out There) Featuring Lauren McGoodwin | 14 Apr 2020 | 00:51:16
Founder and CEO of Career Contessa, Lauren McGoodwin is a former career coach and recruiter who decided to launch a resource for women who are job searching, soul searching, and looking for new ways to advance their careers. With the current crisis we are all facing, many people have lost their jobs, are now searching for ones that are more meaningful to them and trying to maintain their households at the same time. Lauren and I are discussing what you can and should do if you’ve lost your job, what industries and companies are currently hiring and how your job search is affected by your budget. Job hunting is emotional, but we have some tips to help you get through it! What we’re talking about
Steps To Take If You’ve Lost Your Job & How Your Budget Affects Your Job Search If you still have your job, then do you best to keep that job, even if it’s not your dream job. If you’ve lost your job, then the first thing you should do is file for unemployment. The next step you should take is to review your budget and your finances. Decide how long you have to search for a job versus how long your budget will allow you to search for the right job. If your budget runway isn’t long enough to allow you to search for 6 months, then you should look at finding a bridge job which will get you the financial help you need while allowing you time to search for that perfect job. Some current companies that are hiring include Amazon, Walmart, Kroeger, and Instacart. Go to where the demand is and find those companies. There is nothing bad about getting a job that isn’t your dream job right now. Utilizing A Job Search As A Time For Self-Reflection You should use your job search as a time for self-reflection. Ask yourself what your career ideals are. What are your must-haves in a job? What are your deal breakers? What would be nice-to-haves? Create an ongoing list of companies and organizations you’re interested in and would really want to work for. Your strategy should include a listening tour which is informational interviews to find out more about companies you’re interested in. It’s easier to start with the company and not the job because you want to ensure the values you’re looking for already exist. Start with 15 target companies and create a schedule to ensure you don’t burnout. Afterall, a job search can be a full-time job in itself. Be sure to listen to podcasts, create structure, reward yourself and have virtual happy hours with friends. The Difference Between A Job You Love & A Job You Need When you have a job that you love, you’re going to feel the difference it makes in your life. Loving your job brings more confidence, makes your relationships better and allows you to grow your skillsets. You will find more ways to stay motivated when you have a job you love. During this time of crisis, having a job you love might not be possible and that’s ok. The important thing is to find a job that fits your current budget runway and eventually allows you time to find the job you love. Have you created a schedule for your job search? | How To Be The Most Confident Person You Know {Featuring Life Coach Susie Moore} | 07 Apr 2020 | 00:51:50
Author and Life Coach, Susie Moore has not only been mentioned on Oprah.com, Forbes, but Arianna Huffington has said that Susie “helps you not only discover your own purpose but offers a practical guide to making it the driving force in your work and life.” Susie is teaching others how to do meaningful, intentional work while creating a schedule that works for you. She’s sharing her tips on scheduling leverage in your media and connecting with who you really want to connect and work with. We’re discussing the difference between stress and having stressful thoughts, what Susie’s daily schedule entails and how she’s creating content and pitching to media outlets to build her business. It’s time to take action and kill fear! What we’re talking about
Susie Moore’s Tips On Leveraging Media
Susie’s biggest tip on how to leverage and gain media is consistency. You need to pitch yourself and your topics more than once because follow up can literally be the game changer. In addition to following up, be sure that the topics you write on are things you love that can showcase your strengths and make you stand out. Susie says that guest posting is better that TV and podcast appearances because a post allows a reader to simply click on a link to get to you and your articles are online forever. Be consistent around the content you create and you will become the expert in your field. Stress vs. Stressful Thoughts: How To Avoid Perfectionism We all have times of stress, but Susie says it’s important to remember that we can avoid stressful thoughts if we avoid perfectionism. Through her interviews with Kris Jenner and Sara Blakley, Sara has heard time and time again that asking for help and asking questions is one of the biggest strengths you can have. When it comes to stress, we all have a choice between misery and uncertainty, but many choose misery because being stuck in a job you hate is easier than the taking the leap into something new. Susie Moore’s Daily Schedule & Routine Susie’s schedule involves routine and a lot of free time. By creating a routine, there’s less room for self-doubt and wasting valuable time. Your schedule is what you make of it and Susie says she never uses the word “busy” to describe herself. Her morning starts with time for her own content. Susie doesn’t take meetings or calls until noon and she prioritizes time by saying no to most things. At the beginning of the year, Susie schedules her vacations before anything else and she also outsources what makes sense. In your daily schedule, remember to give yourself a finish time. For Susie, it’s 4pm and happy hour with her husband awaits her most days. How are you putting yourself out there this week? | TedX Speaker & Former Deputy District Attorney Teaches Us How To Legally Build A Business You Love {With Emily Baker} | 31 Mar 2020 | 00:50:32
TedX Speaker and attorney, Emily D. Baker is getting real about what it meant to find her identity in her career only to realize it wasn’t who she wanted to be. Emily went from living a life as a lawyer with constant police protection to helping online business owners get legit in their businesses and finding more time to focus on herself and her family. Emily is both strong and soft in her personality and one of the strongest, smartest and most badass women I know. We’re talking about what it means to shift your career to be true to who you are and fit the needs of your family, the differing views on feminism and the way women are treated in the corporate workplace and what the future of online businesses looks like. Don’t lose your identity in your career…Make your career about YOU! What we’re talking about
Emily’s TedX Talk On Self-Identity: When Your Identity Gets Lost In Your Career Emily’s TedX talk on self-identity stemmed from the fact that she got lost in her legal career because she self-selected her job. She says that when things get dysfunctional, such as having police protection for yourself and your family all the time, they simply feel normal for you. It feels good until it doesn’t anymore. As a way to discover what else was out there, Emily stepped into the MLM world for a moment and the one thing she learned was that there is a group of women out there who are all looking for more when it comes to working for themselves and finding a balance for their families. We are taught as children that everything in life is about what we do. It starts with adults asking children what they want to be when they grow up and in turns makes money become your sole identifying factor. Emily became determined to shift her identity and not let money be wrapped up in it. Emily decided to look at what parts of her life she had stifled and to start making that switch. We are in charge of creating the life we want to live, but we need to recognize the changes we need to make in order to live the life we want. Different Points Of View On Feminism Emily is hands down a feminist and we discuss the differences in how feminism is viewed. Women are treated differently than men overall in the workforce. This is apparent in the treatment of men versus women leaving for a child’s t-ball game or in caring for a parent. A man might be patted on the back if he leaves for a game and told he’s a good dad, while a mom might be asked why she’s leaving early again. We can also look at our maternity leave policies and the lack thereof in the corporate world as an example of how our views on women in the workforce need to shift. Some feminists think that laundry might not be enjoyable, yet the fact that you can choose to do your laundry and run a business and do what you want is truly what being a feminist is about. Who We Are vs. What We Do – Shifting Your Career To Fit Your Life Who we are is often defined by what we do as a career. It’s important to shift your career to fit your life and your identity. Instead of being wrapped up in the metrics or performance of money, we should focus on once our needs are met by our finances to understand that it’s ok to slow down and take a break. Money is not who we are or what we should be identifying with. Emily shares how having an online business allows for this kind of mentality and mindset shift and how right now is a wonderful time to launch your own. She warns that you should pay attention to the ever changing legal landscape of online businesses as they become more regulated. Have you shared your 3 words that you identify with? | From Yale to Harvard to… A Life Coach?!? How To “Unf*ck Your Brain” with Top Podcast Host Kara Loewentheil | 24 Mar 2020 | 00:56:21
Attorney turned Life Coach and host of the Unf*ck Your Brain podcast (with 5M downloads), Kara Loewentheil has been featured in the Huffington Post and Mind, Body, Dream. She’s got her B.A. from Yale, J.D. from Harvard and is sharing how she left her legal career to become a life coach. Kara is a self-proclaimed feminist and is coaching other women how to become more confident in any area of their lives. With Kara’s help, her clients are feeling empowered at work, negotiating raises and not worrying about what others think. She specializes in women becoming aware of their critical thoughts and training their brains to overwrite those thought patterns in order to change their lives. Get ready to feel empowered over everything you think! What we’re talking about
Career Switch: From Attorney To Life Coach Kara not only went to college for law, but earned her Juris Doctrate from Ivy League Harvard. As Kara started her job search, she was about to undertake a year-long journey in which she had to travel extensively in order to apply for a legal position. Knowing that this was not her ideal career, she decided to become a certified life coach in order to help women retrain their brains. As an attorney, Kara’s focus was on reproductive rights and has always been a proud feminist. By switching her career from law to life coaching, Kara’s focus was to take the genius parts of good, rigorous coaching but doing it in a way that takes into account that women are raised differently and socialized to think differently of themselves. Steps To Changing The Way You Think The first step to changing the way we think about ourselves, the world, our worth and everything else is to become aware of our unconscious thoughts. Kara shares how society has taught us to think a certain way, such as women are taught to believe that other people being happy with them is the most important thing, when in fact it isn’t. She focuses on confidence and spotting patterns where we are concentrating on what society has taught us, rather than on what we should be thinking of ourselves. Once you untrain and unf*ck your brain, you will discover more confidence and a power within you that deserves to come out. How A Podcast Helps Your Business In Kara’s first year of coaching she made $50,000 and then decided to launch her podcast focusing on laywer stress. The Lawyer Stress Solution podcast wasn’t about her being a life coach, but it certainly grew her client load since she referred to the life and stress of being an attorney and how she could help attorneys with their thought processes. 6 months later, she decided to rebrand and niche down focusing on women and specifically feminists. Kara was filling a gap in the market where there wasn’t one and with the creation of Unf*ck your brain, she made $100,000. Kara shares that the tranisition of her podcast was hard at first because she didn’t have the clarity that she does now, but it was worth the effort. | A Meditation Guide For The Rest Of Us {Featuring Author Justin Michael Williams | 10 Mar 2020 | 00:52:31
Justin Michael Williams is an author, speaker, top 20 recording artist and has been featured by Grammy.com, Yoga Journal, Billboard.com, Wanderlust, South by Southwest to name a few. His new book, Stay Woke: A Meditation Guide For The Rest Of Us is helping people focus on their dreams and change their lives. Justin’s biggest mission is to change the lives of underprivileged children through meditation because he wants them to realize their purpose and potential is much larger than their surroundings. He’s giving us the tools to meditate in order to connect our passions and dreams in this ever-changing and complicated world. Justin presents meditation in a new way where there’s less zen and more of a way to find your passion and discover what you should be focusing on next and doing in your life. We are modern people in a high-tech world with first world problems and a long to do list, so we need to let the quiet in and connect with ourselves. What we’re talking about
What Is Meditation And How Do You Meditate? Meditation is not about relaxing. It’s about becoming more alive and creating space in our minds to receive the answers to the questions we keep asking. The practice is learning to let the storms pass through you and stay connected to a ground that is unmovable and unshakable at all times. If you’ve never meditated before and are just starting out, you might think you need to get your mind to stop thinking, but that’s not true. You want your body to be extremely comfortable. If your body is not comfortable, your brain can’t relax. Get cozy, then dive into the mind. Stillness is overrated, so feel free to move around a bit and start to notice the thoughts you’ve been pushing down. If work has been bothering you and making you anxious, then that is something running in the background of your mind and you should allow it to come up and focus on it. This is what meditation is all about. Utilizing Meditation In Your Business To Create Your Vision When you create your vision and mission for your business, you should practice meditation. By meditating, you’ll be able to go deeper on what you really want for your business and go into your heart instead of your head or ego. Meditation is a practice that helps you understand how to bring your vision and mission into the world that is authentic to you and rooted in your heart. How Meditation Can Help Children Justin is on a mission to get kids to dream bigger, especially underprivileged kids. He is giving thousands of his books away to underprivileged kids in order to give them the tools to imagine a life that is bigger than what is around them. Justin is teaching them a tool to see there is more for their lives and giving them access to a resource inside themselves that is limitless and endless. He says we need to focus on our youth and not just those that are privileged. By teaching children how to meditate, we are showing them a way to grow from their trauma and recognize and realize their greater potential. | How To Be A Minimalist One Step At A Time: Be More With Less {Featuring Courtney Carver} | 03 Mar 2020 | 00:51:39
Be More With Less creator and author of minimalist fashion challenge Project 333, Courtney Carver is sharing how she went from being an advertising sales director to changing her diet, quitting her job and getting rid of most of her belongings. Courtney teaches others how to create a minimalist capsule wardrobe and the ripple effects it has on other areas of your life. She’s making it easy for people to find a place to start and has built a community to support others on the minimalist life journey. The most amazing part of Courtney’s journey is that she was diagnosed with MS in 2006, but since becoming a minimalist and cutting out “stuff” from her life, she has had no symptoms at all.
Discover the many benefits minimizing can have on your life and your closet!
What we’re talking about
Discovering The Emotional Effect Minimalism Has On Your Life
Minimalism can have a profound effect on your closet and your life. By minimizing your belongings, you are able to find more focus in life. Courtney and I discuss how we spend more time with others because reducing your belongings, whether it’s clothes or clutter, takes something off your plate. You will feel more present and excited about life. Minimalism is a mindset shift and Courtney recommends you enjoy the process and not just the end result in order to avoid feeling discouraged with how long the process might take. How To Be Consistent In Maintaining Minimalism
Spring cleaning might happen once a year, but deciding to become a minimalist is something that you have to consistently work at. Courtney says that after spring cleaning her home, she feels the need to fill the space she has just cleared. There has to be a solid reason to change for good. For Courtney it was a health scare which motivated her to do things that reduced stress in her life and to no longer feel the need to fill the clear space. Finding A Community Where You Are Not Alone On The Minimalist Journey
Project 333 is a tell-all book about the challenges of creating a capsule minimalist wardrobe. It’s not a wardrobe prescriptive with do’s and don’ts, but a guide on how to be more with less. The book is about how to dress with 33 items or less for 3 months. Courtney has also created the Project 333 community which allows you to feel a part of something, while being surrounded by others who have the same minimalistic goals as you do. Finding people with similar beliefs gives you the opportunity to know you are not alone and to feel the feelings you have.

| 3 Things Every Small Business Owner Needs | 25 Feb 2020 | 00:20:22 | |
There are certain things that every small business owner needs and today I’m sharing what I believe are necessary both personally and financially and how not having these key components can negatively affect your business. Discover how you can implement these 3 things in your small business today, regardless of whether you are just starting out or are a few years into your business, and learn how I’ve used these game changing ways to propel my business forward. Let’s surround ourselves with the right people! What we’re talking about
How To Find Your Business Tribe For Support Finding a group of women who support you is going to create consistency and help you financially succeed in your business. These women aren’t going to suddenly come into your life though. You need to search for your supporters, make an effort and reach out to women that you want to have support you, but that you also want to support in their businesses. Finding your support crew is a growth strategy and you have to prioritize it. Find Yourself A Mentor When you choose a mentor, you are finding the person who will help you make decisions faster in your business. Your mentor is someone who has already been there. For me, I look not only at someone’s professional life, but also what kind of personal life they have. When you discover the person you want to have as your mentor, reach out to them. Don’t wait until they become too busy or too big to mentor you. Giving Back In Your Business - Be A Mentor It is so important to find a way to give back in your business and one of my favorites is to be a mentor to someone starting out. Giving back, making it less about you, will give you more energy and a deeper meaning on your journey. Being a mentor will also remind you of all you have to offer since we too often forget all that we are good at. What’s the first step you’re going to take today to grow your business? Alison Faulkner is the host of the Apple Podcast Top 100 show, Awesome with Alison, founder of Alison’s Brand School, and is empowering people to build their brand with their heart. Alison is a breath of fresh air because she isn’t afraid to be vulnerable and shares everything about her life including her kids, her business, and how to manage growth when it becomes uncomfortable. Spoiler alert...Alison ends up coaching me in this episode and puts me in the hot seat when it comes to utilizing video in my business! We are talking about how our podcasts affect listeners and what it takes to take the next step forward in your business. It’s time we all start living an awesome life that we love! What we’re talking about
Are You Taking Inspired Action Or Frantic Action? When we are faced with a decision and need to take action, Alison recommends asking yourself if you’re taking inspired action or frantic action. Frantic actions come from a place of lack, of scarcity, of the idea that you have to be more, do more, and achieve more. Inspired action is when you ask yourself “What do i have to give? What do I want my days to look and feel like?”. You should stop and ask yourself if you are trying to take frantic action to validate something? Learning How To Live In The Moment As moms, Alison and I know a thing or two about Frozen and Frozen 2! Alison says our biggest life lessons can be taken from these two movies, with the biggest one being that sometimes we need to just let it go! We need to focus on enjoying each step and living in the moment instead of being focused on getting to the next big step. Part of enjoying each step is truly enjoying the hustle, but not simply hustling for the sake of it being the thing to say you’re doing. It’s important to recognize the type of work you enjoy doing because that’s the work that is going to bring you the most success. Caring More About What You Want & Having An Affect On One Person As podcasters, it’s easy to forget that there are truly people out there listening to what you are recording alone in your closet. Alison shares a story of a letter from a listener in which the odds seemed against her when it came to her business. The listener felt that Alison was speaking directly to her so many times, that she decided to launch her business and found success...success that she felt she owed to Alison. Changing the world is about having an effect on one single person. It’s important for us to recognize the impact we have and how much stronger that impact can be when we actually enjoy the work we do. Are you slowing down to reflect on the work you’re doing and the life you’re living? | Can You Have Babies & Run A Business? Work Life Realities | 11 Feb 2020 | 00:25:11
Can you run a business and have babies at the same time? Absolutely! I’m sharing with you how you can have babies and also run a business and what that looks like for me. The realities of having a business and children is that when it comes to the work you do, you truly have to enjoy working and what you do. When you have work that you are passionate about, you are going to feel more confident, fulfilled and all of those feelings will overflow into the time you spend with your kiddos. I have some big beliefs when it comes to creating a life that allows you to be not only present with your children, but also with your clients and what you need to do to make it all happen. Your dream life is waiting for you. What we’re talking about
You Don’t Need To Sacrifice Your Life For Your Kids Let’s be clear…it is not our job to sacrific our lives for our kids. Our job is to show them what a passionate, well-lived life looks like and how they can accomplish the same thing as they become adults and parents. The truth is that love is infinite. You don’t have a certain amount of love to give to your work or your kids. You won’t have less love to give to one thing over another and when you are truly in love with your work, there will be a ripple effect. You are going to love your time with your kids that much more. Being Intentional With How You Show Up In Your Life Life is busy and when you are a parent and have a job, life becomes even busier. I believe that you have to intentionally choose how you want to show up in your life. Define what is important to you and prioritize it. Make plans in your calendar for work, for play, for date nights and take ownership in ensuring you prioritize what is important to you. Hustling Does Not Mean Sacrificing Your Time Or Your Life We live in seasons that include highs and lows. You will find yourself in seasons of hustle where you have to get more done, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up your life. Hustling simply means you are working towards a deadline. It might mean less TV and more wine and work nights. Hustling does not mean having less fun. You should still keep your priorities on your calendar even if you are in a low season. Have you promised yourself to just go for it? Your dream life is worth the risk. | Marie Forleo: A Private Convo On The Metrics By Which She Runs Her Life & Business | 04 Feb 2020 | 00:46:04
Marie Forleo is the best selling author of Everything Is Figureoutable and host of MarieTV, which now has over 52M downloads, and is back on the podcast today getting even more personal than before. We are reminiscing about being beginners and how you need to embrace starting out in your business. Want to hear how Marie got started in her business? Go check out episode 38 of the podcast to get the story about her first life coaching workshop in her basement! Today we are getting personal. Marie is sharing what she wanted in her personal life and what it took to make her business fit that lifestyle. Let’s be honest, I live a bit of an alternative lifestyle with working 3 days a week with epic clients while also making weekday pancakes for my kiddo. Marie is talking for the first time about what it means to redefine what success means to you and she’s getting very specific. We talk about metrics and applying that to your business and your life. For me, it’s having dates on my calendar that allow for room and space dedicated to watching the garbage trucks, having a date with my husband and doing nothing else, but also allowing me time for a business that I love working with epic humans and generating high profits. Too often we get sucked into the idea that we can’t have it all by being a stay-at-home mom AND a bad ass business owner or an epic career and time with your kids, but the truth is that you can. I refuse to believe you can’t have the lifestyle you’ve always dreamed of, which is I why I searched for people like Marie who were building both….the personal life they always wanted and a business that could support it. It’s what Marie’s done, it’s what I’ve been able to do and it’s what I really want for every single woman out there. Get ready for a very personal, real conversation with Marie and look out for an F bomb somewhere along the way! What we’re talking about
Redefining What Success Means To You Success looks different for different people, but defining it for yourself is what is most important. Marie reminds us that the things we were taught success means aren’t ideas that we came up with ourselves. It’s up to each one of us to redefine what what success looks like to us because that is what you should be working towards. Defining Metrics That Matter To You In Life Marie is taking metrics to a new level by applying them to your life. She says we should define the metrics that matter most to us and revisit them at least once a year. For Marie, it’s asking herself is her team happy and healthy? How much revenue and profit is she bringing in? Is she and her team taking 2 weeks off in the summer and 2 weeks off in the winter? These are the metrics that matter to Marie and what she works towards in her business in order to have the life she desires. Learning How To Simplify In Order To Amplify Your Business You will hear Marie say over and over again that if you aren’t sharing your talent, service or product with the world, then you are stealing from other people. The truth is that you don’t have to do a lot of things, just be great at a few things and focus on them. If you market and sell your specialty with intention, specificity and focus, then you will find that sweet spot and success will follow. It takes courage to listen to the small voices and go in a different direction. Are you ready to lead the way?

| 3 Things To Invest In Next For Your Business | 28 Jan 2020 | 00:22:20 | |
Knowing where to invest in your business can be not only overwhelming but also scary. Should you spend money on your business? What parts of your business should you invest in? At what point should you spend money on your business? I’m sharing the 3 areas you should look to invest in first, what I invested in early on, and the things I invested in that were a bust. Your goal is to feel confident knowing where to spend money and where you can spend more time in your business. Your time and your dreams are worth the investment. What we’re talking about
How To Know When It’s Time To Invest In Your Business The easiest way to know you’re ready to invest in your business is when you need to turn up the momentum and move the needle. Two questions you should ask yourself are: 1) Are you happy with where you’re at or do you need to see the needle move? and 2) Can you invest time yourself or do you need to look outward for someone else? If you want to move the needle and look outside of yourself for help, then it’s time to turn to experts in your field who will be able to help you. Invest your money in the people who can get it done and move the needle for you. Where I Invested In My Business: What Worked & What Didn’t Early on, I invested money into my website. While this is a place that some might find a good use of their money, for me it wasn’t worth it. Working on my website was something I could do for myself and not spend money having an outside source do it. Two places I invested in my business early on that were more than worth it were in a writer’s workshop and in B-School. Years later, I still not only utilize every lesson I learned from both of those investments, but I have also built and maintained relationships with people from those investments. 3 Areas In Your Business Where You Should Invest There are 3 areas in your business where you should invest your money. The first is Moving The Needle spending. Once you have identified your goals, invest in what is going to move the needle to make those things happen. For me, investing in a podcast pitcher has increased my email list and grown my audience. The second is something I call People Spend. This is where you spend money on people. I joined a mastermind in Los Angeles and my investment is in taking time and money to travel to this mastermind every month because in it are amazing women who are filled with resources that help me move the needle in my business. The third area is The Mastery Spend Category. This is where I need to have growth and skills. In this category, you’ll find my investment in the writing workshop I did in Portland, coaching and B-School. Are you ready to invest in yourself? LINKS MENTIONED
