Welcome back for Part 6 of the official crossover series of the "What’s God Got To Do With It?" and Outweigh podcasts.

In this episode, we’re diving deep into the game plan for success—how to carve out your own winning strategy, while also addressing a crucial piece of the puzzle: earning back your own trust.

You see, even if you had the perfect plan and the most ideal steps laid out, what good would it do if you couldn’t trust yourself to follow through? That’s why we dive deep into earning back your own trust so you can live in alignment and integrity WHILE you go after your health goals.

We often think the alternative to dieting is losing control, but the true alternative is freedom—freedom to nourish your body and soul, to wave the white flag, and declare peace. This episode is about shifting from the mindset of restriction and "repair" to one of  healing and "care". We’ll explore how to truly partner with your body and align your mind and heart to create a sustainable, peaceful life. We’ll also tackle those sneaky “Never-Gonna” inner voices that sabotage your success before you even begin. God's Body Blueprint: A Science-meets-Faith Body Image Perspective20 Aug 202400:43:06

Welcome back for Part 5 of the official crossover series of the "What’s God Got To Do With It?" and Outweigh podcasts.

This week we’re diving deep into a crucial part of the food and body image conversation—what Leanne likes to call your “body brain.”

If you’ve been following along, you know we’ve been exploring how faith intersects with our struggles around food and self image. Today, we’re turning our focus to the physical side of things, and how your body (and your perception of it) are deeply intertwined.

We’ll be looking at this from both a nervous system and physiological perspective, but we can’t ignore the importance of how you view your body and your relationship with it.

This episode isn’t about offering a quick fix; it’s about helping you understand the deeper layers that contribute to your struggles.

Leanne also shares her personal journey of overcoming her own body image (and chronic pain) battles, so you can see that real, lasting change is possible...but it starts with breaking the chains of your own harsh self-criticism, guilt, and shame.

The hope is that by the end of this episode, you’ll feel empowered to start dismantling your own beliefs and step into a new story about your body. Remember, this isn’t just about what you weigh or how you look—it’s about freeing yourself from the heavy burden of judgment and stepping into a place of peace and self-compassion.

Let's Talk about Sex (Without Shame or Judgment)13 Feb 202400:48:29

Today's episode is going to be a wild ride, as we dive headfirst into a conversation that's bound to be one of the most raw and real shares we've ever had.

Yep, you guessed it - we're talking about sex. But hold on, we're not approaching it the way you've heard a million times before.

Our mission here at The God Pod? To flip the script and invite you into a judgment-free zone where we can explore your relationship with yourself (and with God) without any shame weighing us down.

Joining me on this journey are my dear friends and mentors, Kevin and Rea Queen, who I affectionately call my "fairy godparents". Together, we're diving deep into my own experiences, baring it all in the hopes of showing you that there's no room for shame or condemnation when faith is your compass.

When I first stumbled upon this whole idea of "saving myself" for marriage, I didn't fully grasp what I was getting into. But as my relationship with my now-husband evolved, so did my understanding of commitment.

Before I knew it, we were on a journey of self-discovery and revelation, strengthening our bond in ways I never thought possible. And as our wedding day approached, I felt this urge to share our story, to shed light on how my faith journey transformed my views on love, intimacy, and self-worth.

So here we are, laying it all out on the table, hoping to spark some honest conversations and remind you that your journey is valid, unique, and oh-so-worthy.

Against all odds, Scott and Maleah share how unwavering faith and prayer became their guiding lights, recounting moments of divine intervention and the significance of grasping hope in the midst of so much darkness.

Reinventing Yourself: A Faith-Fueled Self-Image Makeover06 Aug 202400:40:12

Welcome back for Part 3 of the official crossover series of the "What’s God Got To Do With It?" and Outweigh podcasts.

Last week, we explored the big picture of this conversation, and this week we narrow the focus to the self-image and identity piece of this food and body puzzle. We discuss the necessity of stepping into a new version of yourself if you really want to achieve true health and freedom in your relationship with food and your body.

We talk about WHY transforming your self-image is crucial on a neuroscience level, and how it's not about what you eat--  but who you truly believe yourself to be.
Only this time around, you're invited to address the roots of your identity and self-image in a way that aligns with God's view of yourself, instead of worldly and societal standards.

And of course, we get a little 'geeky' and explore the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC), and its significant role in self-perception, emotional and physical pain, and your coping mechanisms, AND how this is particularly important for women, whose ACCs are more active than men's. Throughout the episode, you'll hear scripture AND evidence-based research that supports the transformative power of faith.

Dive on in to learn how integrating faith and science can lead to building YOUR new identity, free from the burdens of shame and self-rejection, and discover what it truly means to see yourself as God sees you.

From Despair To Prayer: How To Find God After Unthinkable Loss23 Jan 202400:38:50

Born and raised in a quintessential “country music family”, as the oldest daughter of country music super star Alan Jackson, Mattie Jackson is as down-to-earth and open-hearted as they come. But that doesn't mean she's immune to tragedy and a curveball that could never have been predicted.

Three weeks before her first wedding anniversary, Mattie experienced an unimaginable tragedy and lost her husband to a sudden brain injury. She candidly shares how her life was suddenly turned upside down, and the intense emotional rollercoaster of hope, despair, and ultimately, unimaginable loss that followed. .

Mattie's raw emotions included everything from anger to disappointment to hopelessness, and the struggle to reconcile her prayers that she feared would be left unanswered. Amidst the heartbreak, she shares how she navigated through grief and the quest for meaning in the midst of so much chaos.

The answer was no other than: God.

She leaned on God and her faith to guide her through the darkest times.

Mattie courageously bares her soul and lays it all out for us to hear in this interview for The God Pod, and I have no doubt that this episode  will inspire you to live life with more appreciation, courage, and purpose.

Acting As If (THINKING) When Downward Spiral Thoughts Rule Your Life (1 of 4)26 Dec 202300:32:36

PART 1 of 4: Are you feeling stuck or battling self-doubt? Do you want to take ownership of your life by taking ownership of your thoughts? If yes and yes, then "Acting As If" is for you! Amy Brown & Self-Image Scientist Leanne Ellington designed this 4-part series to help you shift your thoughts, so that “Acting As If” becomes possible for your brain to adopt. In each episode, you get effective strategies to break free from the grip of negativity & gain insights on nurturing an "emotionally healthy" brain.

In PART 1 you learn:

👉Why "Acting As If" is not a matter of positive affirmations or fake-it-til-you-make it.
👉Rewiring your brain for peace in the chaos
👉Distinguishing the data vs the drama of your situation
👉How to give yourself your own "reality check" to stop the downward spiral of thoughts in your brain.

We can all struggle with downward spiraling thoughts:

"Why did I eat that?"
"Why didn't he call me?"
"Why can't I stop that?"
"Does that make me a bad mom?"
"Why should I bother? Is this just how it will always be?"

Things like "fake it ‘til you make it" + turning everything “into a positive" will NOT outsmart your brain...and there’s a reason why.

Trading Up: Exchanging External Judgments For Your God-Given Value19 Dec 202300:31:11

Leanne is back as we conclude our deep dive into the Paradox of Worthiness. In this final episode of the series, she unravels the concept of "Self-Endorsement" and explores this idea that it's possible for you to value your own opinion of yourself and God’s opinion of you more so (even just a little bit more so) than someone else’s opinion of you. And how THAT can liberate you from the constant need for external validation.

Self-Endorsement is truly about standing confidently in who you are, but more so who God says you are, and seeking approval from God, rather than relying solely on others' opinions. Leanne encourages you to break free from society's definition of approval and external validation, renew your mind, and invite God into the process through prayer.

As she wraps up this series, the invitation is clear: explore a new perspective, be patient with yourself, and trust the unfolding journey of self-discovery as you identify what you need for your head, heart, and spirit.

Earning Back Your Own Trust With God As Your Co-Pilot12 Dec 202300:32:57

Leanne is back to continue exploring this complex topic of worthiness, diving into the paradox of feeling worthy when you DON'T feel worthy. Once again Leanne talks about the 5 Blocks to God’s love, originally introduced as a 'Self-Imaging' formula, and how these blocks, if not addressed, can hinder your experience of love and worthiness.

This episode focuses on the fourth ingredient and God block: Self-Esteem, where she teaches about understanding Self-Esteem as more than just confidence, but a profound interplay of "knowing, liking, and trusting" yourself.

She explores this concept that most people are walking around very untrusting of themselves, because somewhere along the lines they stopped believing themselves when they made promises to themselves. And this causes them to not only STOP trusting themselves, but to also LOSE respect for themselves, believing themselves less and less the NEXT time they commit to something. And THAT is what damages your Self-Esteem.

She takes you on a deep-dive of how to repair your integrity if you've gotten into the habit of making promises to yourself without actual follow-through. She also shows you how to invite God into this conversation to explore the power of promise-keeping when it comes to restoring your Self-Esteem.

Leanne encourages and invites you to create a new definition of Self-Esteem, only this time around taking your "spiritual integrity" into account and seeking God's perspective on getting back in alignment with yourself WHILE you embrace the concept of taking radical ownership of your own Self-Image...and the spiritual journey towards God-inspired integrity.

Currency of the Soul: God's Truth About Your Divine Worth05 Dec 202300:34:47

Leanne is back to continue exploring this complex topic of worthiness, diving into the paradox of feeling worthy when you DON'T feel worthy. Once again Leanne talks about the 5 Blocks to God’s love, originally introduced as a 'Self-Imaging' formula, and how these blocks, if not addressed, can hinder your experience of love and worthiness.

This time however, the spotlight turns to the third ingredient and God Block: Self-Worth, as Leanne emphasizes the importance of understanding what you're "weighing and measuring" to define your own worth. She shares personal experiences of tying self-worth SOLELY to external factors like appearance, relationships, and achievement, and how goal-setting can be great, but if that's the ONLY place you are finding your worth, that's where the trouble lies.

Leanne encourages and invites you to create a new definition of self-worth, only this time around taking a "spiritual currency" into account and seeking God's perspective on your divine worth, teaching you how to embrace the concept of taking radical ownership of your own Self-Image... while inviting God into the process as your co-pilot and divine partner.

Divine Partnership: Health & Self-Care With God's Support28 Nov 202300:43:22

Join us as Leanne continues to explore the complex topic of worthiness, diving into the paradox of feeling worthy when you DON'T feel worthy. Once again Leanne talks about the 5 Blocks to God’s love, originally introduced as a 'Self-Imaging' formula, and how these blocks, if not addressed, can hinder your experience of love and worthiness.

This time however, the spotlight turns to the second ingredient and God Block: Self-Care, as Leanne challenges 'conventional' views of health by emphasizing a 3-dimensional approach—mental, emotional, and spiritual care—as the foundation for physical well-being. She encourages you to redefine health and self-care, while inviting God into the journey and addressing the cultural misconceptions that often lead to harmful practices, and she paints a picture of shifting from the world's take on health...to a more all-encompassing, God-centered one.

It's time to toss out the one-size-fits-all approach, and figure out your unique recipe for health and well-being. But this time around: inviting God in as your Divine Partner.

Big Picture Magic: The Fusion of Faith, Science, Food, & Self-Image30 Jul 202400:37:53

Welcome back for Part 2 of the official crossover series of the "What’s God Got To Do With It?" and Outweigh podcasts.

Today, we're diving deep into the intersection of faith, science, food, and body image. This is the big picture conversation -- where these themes overlap, so you can simply understand this connection between neuroscience and faith...and how it can lead to meaningful, lasting transformation in our lives.

Leanne shares (for her) how embracing this dialogue meant confronting her skeptical, science-driven mindset and inviting a God-centered perspective into areas she was  previously tackling through her own might, and how this approach completed her story and aligned with her fascination with the brain and nervous system.

She addresses topics like: Why do our brains play tricks on us? Why do we do what we do? Why can't we seem to shake life-long habits?

With references to biblical scripture and modern neuroscience studies, Leanne highlights the transformative power of aligning your thoughts with a higher spiritual perspective.

And of course you are invited to invite God into the conversation, recognizing that true transformation involves cultivating a new identity rooted in faith and understanding the profound connection between mind, body, and spirit...and self-image.

Removing the Blocks: Self-Acceptance and God's Unwavering Grace21 Nov 202300:39:25

In this episode of the "God Pod", Leanne invites you to redefine "surrender" and actively shift from self-reliance to God's guidance. Diving into the first ingredient AND the first "God Block", the focus is on Self-Acceptance as both an ingredient for a loving Self-Image and a potential block to receiving God's love.

Consider this episode a roadmap to recognizing and addressing your own "God Blocks", fostering self-acceptance, and taking practical steps to actually break through the "Paradox of Acceptance"...and how to accept yourself (even with all the messy bits) when you DON'T accept yourself.

Unraveling Worthiness: Breaking Down the 5 'Blocks' to God's Love14 Nov 202300:35:49

Leanne is kicking off a new series based on her own experiences navigating "The Paradox of Worthiness" (as she calls it). As in, how do you feel worthy when you don't feel worthy?

There is so much talk nowadays about self-love and worthiness, but the crucial question remains: How do we truly embrace it if all we’ve ever known is the opposite? How do you suddenly feel worthy if all you’ve ever known is feeling unworthy?

In this kickoff to the series, Leanne introduces you to (what she calls) "The 5 Blocks To Love", and how she discovered that when it came to actually FEELING worthy of being loved, that was a really hard concept for her to grasp at first. It felt like something was actually blocking her.

And that's when she discovered that there were "5 Blocks" that were hindering her ability to RECEIVE what was already there, and that this was what was actually causing her resistance. She also discovered that removing those blocks catapulted her ability to connect to herself, others, and God.

You're going to get an in-depth look at each of these blocks in this upcoming series, but first she dives into the fusion of faith, neuroscience, and self-image as a pathway to feeling worthy and putting yourself in the optimal position to remove your own blocks.

Jesus Take The Wheel: From Self-Reliance to God's Guidance07 Nov 202300:38:05

Rewind about 4 years ago to when my dear friend Ketric Newell told me something I DID NOT want to hear...

"Leanne your Self-Imaging curriculum is GREAT, but I don't want you to teach it to the teenage girls at The Teen Dream Center....YET."

Ugggh! The nerve of him to tell me it wasn't ready --  or that I wasn't ready! (Or whatever I perceived him to be saying to me.)

But now I can see that he had a VERY good reason to say that to me, and it was this:

I was still teaching "self-love" and "self-worth" as something that you do (strictly) through your OWN strength.

In other words, it was this hyper-independent reliance on SELF to do all the heavy-lifting.

And yes I was a little bit "butt hurt" (as the kids say nowadays) when I first heard him say that, but that's only because I didn't yet GET IT!

That is...until I DID get it.
Because in a world that often encourages self-sufficiency, this concept of letting go and allowing God to take the lead can feel a little daunting (or if you're anything like me....totally FOREIGN!)

But what if you could see it in a whole new light?

If you think that asking for help is WEAKNESS (as I raise my hands in admission)
If you struggle with this idea of surrendering your burdens over to God or a higher power (boy did I ever!)
If you constantly feel like you have to prove how strong, able, tough, or [fill-in-the-blank] you are (SEE ALSO: my entire life before I let God in)...

Then you will LOVE this intimate sit-down with a man I describe as a humble, poetic, prophetic named Ketric.

It's an invitation to simply try on a new definition of "surrender" and the profound impacts that can happen when you shift from self-reliance to God's guidance.

Saved by Grace: A Pastor's Journey from Darkness to Light24 Oct 202300:43:38

Sex drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll was a way of life for Pastor Corey Trimble, until God intervened and reshaped his destiny.

In this heart-to-heart conversation with Pastor Corey, he shared his raw and unfiltered account of his tumultuous journey marked by moments of despair, suicide attempts, and drug abuse that led to the pivotal moment he found God that forever altered the trajectory of his life.

If you've ever grappled with thoughts like:

"I'm too far gone to ever change."
"I'm too broken to be loved."
"All the bad things I've done — God MUST be mad at me."
"Is this what rock bottom feels like?"

...then please, please, please go hear Corey's story.

It serves as a testament to the miraculous power of faith and forgiveness, and directly illustrates the unlimited potential for redemption and healing on the path from brokenness to wholeness -- even in the darkest of days.

I'm honored to share Corey's testimony and this powerful reminder of the unwavering love of God that made it all possible.

The Faith-Brain Connection: Where Self Image Meets Neuroscience10 Oct 202300:46:52

Today is World Mental Health Day, and that’s why it's the perfect time to talk about the faith-brain connection, and how it has EVERYTHING to do with your  own mental and emotional health.

In this next episode of The God Pod, Leanne takes you on a journey to explore the profound interplay between faith, self-image, and neuroscience. Leanne breaks down (in simple science terms) how just influencing ONE specific part of the brain (the Anterior Cingulate Cortex (ACC), or the "social brain" as she calls it) can change the game for you -- simply by knowing about it -- as just this ONE part of the brain influences everything from self-perception and emotional pain to coping mechanisms and physical pain.

Inviting God into the conversation right away, she shares how this region of the brain drives our need for acceptance and connection while also playing a big role in your coping mechanisms or habits which you feel are "out of control".

And it's not just theory either, as she shares evidence-based scientific studies that show how faith has been proven to drastically impact everything from self-esteem and addiction recovery...to the alleviation of physical pain, and how THIS can hold the keys to your own mental and emotional health.

Ultimately, she's simply inviting you to 'try on' this idea that faith can be a catalyst for healing, strength, and transformation in the realm of mental and emotional well-being.

How God Helped Me Heal My Fears About Being Alone the Rest of My Life03 Oct 202300:51:28

Do you have beliefs that are holding you back that (no matter what you try), they continue to have a stronghold on you?

In this week's episode of the God Pod, Leanne Ellington shares her personal journey of transforming beliefs through the unique intersection of where "faith meets science"...and where "science meets faith", as we start to unravel how faith and science intersect in transforming your deepest-held beliefs about yourself.

She shares a unique process to transform your own beliefs, but also takes you on a deeply introspective voyage, and candidly discusses her transition from attempting to change her beliefs purely through scientific and emotional tools...to inviting God into the conversation.

She shares her initial struggles with self-worth and the fear of "being alone the rest of her life", and details how she crafted new beliefs that resonated with her core self and how she "backed them up" with carefully-chosen scripture.

Leanne's journey from skepticism to faith, from doubt to trust, ultimately culminated in a profound transformation, including the unexpected and beautiful development of a loving relationship, and this episode invites you to explore your own beliefs and see where "faith meets science" can help you reshape your own self-perceptions.

What's God Got To Do With It? A Woman's Guide To Food & Body Freedom23 Jul 202400:27:43

We are so excited to bring you the first official crossover series of the "What’s God Got To Do With It?" and Outweigh podcasts.

If you have been listening to Outweigh, you know that THAT podcast is all about helping women break themselves out of the food and body prison, end the dieting madness, and take control of their health for good, but without all that restriction, obsession, and shame…and without dragging it out for years to address it.

And if you’ve been listening to "What’s God Got To Do With It?", you know that it's all about the fusion of where science meets Faith and where faith meets transformation and miracles.

So this crossover series is a beautiful opportunity to talk about the crossover of where science meets food…& body image… & self image struggles…AND where THAT intersects FAITH (or what’s God got to do with allll of that?)

And that’s exactly what this 6 part series is all about:

Part 1 is an introduction and setting up this massive topic.

Part 2 is all about the big picture of where faith meets science meets food & body image.

Part 3 goes deep into the self image and identity that you need to actually step into the version of you that would have THAT health, that would have THAT relationship with food and her body, who would actually be at peace and feel free….…and of course how that fuses with this faith-brain conversation.

Part 4 dives deeper into What God has to do with (what Leanne calls) your ‘food brain’ and disordered eating patterns, and filling voids in your head, heart, and spirit with food (or whatever your drug of choice is)…and it’s a hole that will never be filled by those things.

Part 5 dives into the complicated relationship that women have with their bodies and their body image (and physical pain – a topic often avoided), and how to heal all of that from a faith-meets-science perspective.... AND invite God into the conversation.

And then wrapping it up in part 6, we get into the strategy side of things. As in, what does it look like to use what you’ve learned about neuroscience and faith and healing your relationship with food and your body image to go create a winning game plan that sets you up to win AND one that your brain just learns so you can go live your life, food can be food, and you can feel comfortable in your skin and free from the chains of restricting or punishing your body.

So let’s dive in! Enjoy Part 1.

A Bacon-Loving, Hebrew-Speaking Jew Steps Into A Church12 Sep 202300:35:04

In this next episode Leanne takes you on an unexpected and deeply personal journey of spiritual discovery. She shares a bit about her upbringing, and what caused her to feel a yearning for something more, leading her to explore her own spiritual path. She emphasizes the importance of embracing one's unique journey and adapting language to fit your own personal experiences and beliefs.

Throughout the episode, Leanne explores the diverse paths to faith, drawing from her experiences working with clients from various backgrounds who grapple with their relationship with their own connection with God and spirituality. She reflects on the power of words and the significance of inner experiences over specific faith-based terminology. Leanne's connection to her Jewish heritage and love for Israel sets the stage for a twist of fate that propels her toward faith, highlighting the transformative power of surrender and the impact of worship music.

The episode truly comes to a head when Leanne shares a pivotal moment on a paddleboard, where a song's lyrics lead her to straight to her knees, praying for help and discovering a deeper sense of the concept of "surrender" she had been searching for. This experience prompted her to make a brave and profound transition from the fitness industry to a faith-based approach to emotional transformation, ultimately trusting in God's guidance (even if she wasn't calling that presence 'God' at the time).

Leanne shows us the importance of stepping into the unknown, embracing uncertainty, and finding trust in God, even when the concept is new. As she explores Christianity and attends Crosspoint Church in Nashville, her open-hearted approach to worship music and teachings shows us that there is this universal search for connection and completeness.

A Scientist Goes Looking For God12 Sep 202300:24:52

In the debut episode of the "What's God Got To Do With It" podcast, host Leanne Ellington takes listeners on a deeply personal journey of self-discovery and transformation. Leanne begins by sharing her background as a bacon-loving Jew with a Jewish heritage, where Judaism was more of a cultural 'thing' in her life, but NOT a connection to God.

She candidly discusses her lifelong struggles with food, body image, and toxic shame, tracing her introduction to weight watchers at just 8 years old and her ongoing battle with depression and anxiety. Despite losing nearly 100 pounds, Leanne reveals how she still felt trapped by the cycle of dieting and exercise.

This paved the way for Leanne's awakening to the need for deeper change, as she shares her realization that she couldn't diet or exercise her way out of her self-image issues and her newfound commitment to breaking free from the shackles of restriction and obsession. And that's when Leanne's life took an unexpected turn and introduced her pursuit of faith (despite not having a previous connection to God in her life). She delves into the concept of neuroplasticity and how it influenced her journey, acknowledging her initial skepticism about faith and spirituality.

She continues to share how her search for "surrender," led to her discovering God in the most unexpected places, and as the stage for her podcast's purpose, she invites listeners to explore faith, skepticism, and doubt in a safe space while contemplating the intriguing intersection of faith and science, inviting you on an enlightening and introspective journey into the intricate relationship between faith, identity, and self-discovery.
