JIN IS HOME! Happy Festa y'all!!! We're chatting all about the super sexy and very moody pandemic track, Blue & Grey on this episode. Check out the incredible work of Army artists for Festa via the Instagram hashtag #2024festaartmy Our Army shoutout this episode goes to @nitchii who makes wonderful and fun illustrations of BTS!
The podcast has to go on hiatus now while we all have various commitments and availability but stay tuned to socials for updates.
Huge thank you to our Patreon supporters, the OG podcast army. The Patreon will be going on pause while we are on hiatus but I'm figuring out ways to keep us connected in the interim.
Beware, this episode may induce coffee cravings! On this episode we review the lo-fi café soundtrack, Coffee. Did you know this isn't an original BTS song? We dive into the origins of the track, get carried away talking all about coffee as a beverage and try not to argue too much about coffee vs tea (obviously coffee is better).
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to Revolt Books an indie publisher who publishes books which delve deep into the world of BTS and ARMY with high-concept analytical and creative works. From groundbreaking social theory to poetry inspired by BTS' Love Yourself era. You can check out the books here.
SHINE DREAM SMILE because we're baaaack!! Starting off season 2 of the podcast with a sparkly, feel good number to distract us from the current world without BTS. Our last episode for 2023 is our annual Christmas Special! This year it's less about Christmas and more about reflecting on the year that was. Our Response to the NYT (trash) Popcast - Jung Kook, BTS & English Language K-Pop
14 Dec 2023
00:54:14
If you're going to come for BTS, at least make it factual! On December 2nd 2023 the New York Times released an episode of 'Popcast' called Jung Kook, BTS and English Language K-Pop. What followed was 44 minutes of bad journalism, misinformation, anti rhetoric, racism and xenophobia. So here is 50 minutes of us tearing it apart :)

It's finally here, the second half of our mammoth book review! Your intrepid podcasting Army leave no stone unturned as we deep dive further into the book and 10 years of BTS history. As with part 1, this episode is full of spoilers. We suggest you read the book first before listening if that bothers you.
Welcome to We Review BTS, the book edition! This is a mammoth review and discussion about Beyond the Story, covering chapters one to four. The episode is a deep dive and full of spoilers so be warned if you haven't read the book. Part two coming soon!
It's our 3 year anniversary!! We can not believe we've made it this long and we still have people listening. Thank you so much for listening and a very special thank you to our Patrons who support us. It's fitting that this anniversary episode is less high brow critical thinking and more of an in the gutter thirsty episode and we are not sorry about it! We discuss the legality of dimples and attempt an academic analysis of 'the thrust'.
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to the @criticalbtsreader account who highlights the importance of critical thinking and social and political awareness in the fandom.
Seven by Jungkook feat. Latto - Responding to Misogyny, Slut Shaming and Prudishness Within the Fandom
25 Jul 2023
00:40:33
We couldn't stay quiet any longer! After witnessing a gross display of prudishness within the fandom, we had to say something. This is probably our spiciest episode to date but we were all very tired of seeing some sections of the fandom infantilise Jungkook, make misogynistic comments about Latto and spout their repressed nonsense online. Plus our first reactions to the incredible song. Sexually liberated Jungkook is a vibe!! STREAM SEVEN!!!
Taking on a fandom cult favourite, this episode we review Spine Breaker! As with so many BTS songs, there is more to this track than first appears. We take a deeper look at the issues they sing about and the chokehold North Face jackets have on both Korean and Australian society. Plus we have some fun reviewing the comical self filmed 'music video' that BTS created.
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to @__cookim_ who makes delicious Korean cooking reels on Instagram, including some of BTS favourite foods!
We're back! Swooping in to save you with our red bean bread faces! This episode we dive deep into the 2018 track Anpanman. A song that is almost guaranteed to lift any mood. Melbourne Army get your tickets to Fanchants and Fingerhearts: A Night of K-Pop Stanning at the Wheeler Centre July 13th. We wish we could go!
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to @autmnkookie and the mesmerising time lapse reels of her beautiful watercolour paintings.
Listen to Ddaeng on Soundcloud This episode we take on one of the most iconic rap line tracks, DDAENG. BTS are ddaeng, Army are ddaeng and this podcast is ddaeng! We highly recommend watching the following Youtube about some of the nuances in the lyrics which can be easily missed by english speakers. Ddaeng explained by a Korean
Our Army shoutout this week goes to artist @circa613 who has a beautiful and unique art style that we have all fallen in love with.
In 2017 BTS and Bighit created a completely fictional 15th century fairytale about a rare flower (also fictional) and Army have been confused ever since! On this episode we try and set the record straight and explain the backstory to the song 'The Truth Untold'. We also chat about the recent BTS book news, the so called 'global' screenings of D-Day in Japan and Tori's irrational fears.
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to the supremely talented tattoo artist @lamp.arte who creates beautiful BTS tattoos.
You know the one where BTS taunt us for being obsessed fans? Pied Piper is a scolding, a seduction, a confession, an apology, and a warning. Lean in, don't close your eyes, don't look away and follow the sounds of the pipe!
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to @0901mg on Instagram, who's art is just as mesmerising as BTS performing Pied Piper.
The day us come for us tackle one of the most iconic BTS songs, Baepsae aka Silver Spoon. We try very hard to use our big brains to focus more on the lyrics and meaning and not so much on the hip thrusts. But we are only human!!! This conversation does cover the evolution of the Baepsae hip thrust but it also delves into politics and societal issues like the housing crisis, generational divides and privilege. Fan merch makers mentioned in our Borahae Bites segment @cherie.pop @mikrokosmosworld
Our Army Shoutout this episode goes to @its_coraline and their beautiful art style, make sure you check them out.
A little bit of squandering fun for you! This episode we review the OG YOLO anthem, Go Go. And of course we end up going on a bit of a tangent about the economy, generational division and what the pandemic has done to shake up the global workforce. Things are never as fun and simple as they seem with BTS! We also take a break from Borahae Bites this episode to discuss a deeper issue within the fandom and how to speak to BTS with love and respect. In the spirit of Go Go and spending money on things that bring us joy, now would be a great time to sign up for our Patreon! Cole's 2013 song Born Sinner and was only recently released officially on the 2022 anthology album, Proof. Join our Patreon for a whole other bonus podcast and the ability to vote for what songs we review for future episodes. This episode is a review of the 2022 track 'Run BTS' from the Proof anthology album. It is not a review of the long running variety show of the same name or the 2015 track titled 'Run' (we've already reviewed that MV, listen here). We also talk about BTS and boundaries, what Run episode we turn to when we need comforting, the songs that we have changed our feelings about since first listening and which member of BTS we would want on our pub quiz team.
Our Army shoutout this episode goes to the extremely talented @gwynevar.art on Instagram, check out their amazing art!
Our Parmy (Podcast Army) voted and this episode we review the essential rap track from the love yourself boys, Cypher 4! As with all rap line songs, there's a lot to discuss in the lyrics and wordplay within the song and some incredible live performances to review.

I bet you're thinking 'hey, where is the Film Out episode?' and friends we have some news (all is explained in this episode). Thank you very much for being patient while we scrambled to overcome a horrific tech issue which basically meant that the Film Out episode we had spent hours researching and recording, is dead. But there will be a way to listen to it soon. We are super excited to be launching our Patreon VERY SOON and we have so many bonus content ideas in the works for our faithful Parmy. But don't worry, the fortnightly review episodes will continue to be free for everyone.
Butter is a bumper episode this week as we introduce a new segment, Borahae Bites! It's a chance for us to chat about something going on in the BTS world we simply must discuss, this episodes it's Jin's military selfies, Jimin's rumoured next comeback, Suga's Suchwita Show and Tori takes us to fashion school 101 to discuss the members luxury fashion collabs. And then of course we get hotter, sweeter, cooler, BUTTER.

Our first review episode sans Lainy, all positive comments and feedback welcome as we get used to being a trio! We do have a lot of fun this episode chatting about HOME, some might say too much fun because we forgot to do the Army shoutout. Oops!
One word for you... FEETIES. But first we/Tori must apologise for the tardiness of this episode, we don't plan on making this a habit but sometimes health issues get in the way of recording, thank you dear listeners for understanding. This episode we dive head first into the swan lake/duck pond, to take a deeper look at Black Swan. We discuss the beautiful art film, the links to the 2010 movie and the painful lyrics which hurt just a little bit more since THAT Festa Dinner. We would also like to give a big shoutout to all the wonderful people who have posted reviews of the podcast or sent us monetary support via Buy Me a Coffee, you are the best!

This episode on We Review BTS, we endeavour to tackle not one but two ON music videos! It's a mammoth episode and somehow we have managed to pack it full of ridiculous 90s references, too many nipple mentions, a dramatic reading of the official MV and a lot of inappropriate references to conch shells. Come on a ride with us through cyberpunk Bangtan all the way to dystopian biblical peasant Bangtan. Yes, it's madness but hopefully you're laughing along with us.

It's a bit of a different one this episode. For the sake of continuity, we are reviewing the sort of but sort of not a music video for Make it Right. This ep is a little bit giggly and chaotic, can you tell that the 4 of us hadn't all been in a room together for over a month? There are some differing opinions on this one and potentially a somewhat far-fetched connection to Star Wars and Silence of the Lambs.
Please vindicate Tori and let us know if you also got Jedi vibes.
We got a little bit carried away gushing about Jack in the Box and Hobipalooza so sadly there is no army shoutout this episode. We promise there will be one next!
Send us an email wereviewbts@gmail.com Follow us on Instagram.
Things are a little different this episode with Victoria dialling in from her plague cave to join us to discuss the Japanese music video for Lights. Please bare with use on this ep as the phone audio is not the greatest but we think you can still hear most of what's being said. Lights turns out to be a very dreamy and sweet little song aimed once again at the fans and we loved talking about various theories around this song and reading out some army tweets from the day it was released.

On this episode we chat through all the wonderful things that have happened since THAT Festa dinner, we have been well fed with BTS content and there is plenty more to come. Boy With Luv aka A Poem for Small Things, shows us a cuter side to BTS. We dissect the lyrics and some of the symbolism in this music video from Tom Hanks to Singing in the Rain as well as discuss the joys of a collaboration with Halsey and BTS hitting The Beatles level success. Festa Dinner 2022, Yet to Come, Proof and all the feelings
20 Jun 2022

Are we ok army? It has been a tough week and we felt the need to record this bonus episode and talk through everything that has happened. This episode is a warm hug from us to our fellow army, as well as one giant therapy session to help all of us process our feelings around BTS taking an extended break. We laughed and we cried* *Tori cried We hope this might bring you a little comfort and get you excited for what's next because the best is yet to come with BTS. Apologies for Tori's croaky voice and any coughing that made its way into the audio, she's been sick but we couldn't wait any longer to record.
Thank you for listening. Borahae forever!
