Celebrity portrait and commercial photographer and Sony Ambassador Tom Oldham joins the podcast from his London studio to talk about his journey from growing up in the small rural town of Dorset to photographing some of the most recognizable faces in the world, and earning awards like Amateur Photographer Magazine's 2023 "Hero Of Photography" and Sony's "World Open Photographer Of The Year" in 2020.  During our conversation Tom talks about how the burgeoning rave scene of the UK would end up changing the course of his life and put a camera in his hand to begin documenting the culture he loved so much and all the amazing ups and downs his career has brought him since.  He also gives a behind the scenes look at what it's like to photograph subjects like Rick Rubin, Nick Cave, Liam Gallagher, and so many more.  Lastly we talk about longevity in a career as fickle as photography and what he feels has been his secret to not burning out, how he approaches all the personal projects he has become known for over the years, and the advice he gives to other creatives chasing their own dreams.

On this episode of the show I'm joined by well known commercial, celebrity, and fine art photographer Brian Bowen Smith to talk about his newest coffee table book and amazing quarantine inspired cross country adventure called "DriveBys" where he traveled around in his vintage F150 and took beautiful black and white scenics and portraits of people from all walks of life through the window of his truck.  We also talk about his challenging upbringing in Syracuse, and how he went from what he called a dirt bag punk kid, to one of the top collegiate gymnastic athletes, to an inspiring actor living in New York, to a professional rollerblader in LA, to working closely with legendary photographer Herb Ritts, and finally to creating the amazing photography career that most know him for today.  It's an amazing journey and story, and during our conversation we talk about the role of luck and where hard work comes in, how he managed to get his foot in the door of the very competitive world of celebrity work, how he constantly tries to grow and evolve as a photographer and stay competitive, what inspired him to create his newest personal project, and so much more.

On this episode I'm joined by editorial and commercial photographer Yve Assad from her home in Nashville to talk about how she went from growing up in a small town in the south with a love of music and an interest in what was going on in the rest of the world, to studying photojournalism at the University of Georgia, to creating a thesis project based around the characters she found at a biker bar, to working for a small town paper, to finally chasing her dream of going out on her own and photographing the motorcycle culture she fell in love with in college.  During our conversion Yve talks about what it was like to travel the country for years photographing the world of flat track motorcycle racing, how that provided her the opportunity to work with brands like Harley Davidson and publications like Iron and Resin, the way she was able to transition into working in the advertising world with everyone from Filson to Ford, and the advice she gives to others out there chasing their own creative dreams.
