Spring has come to Beverly Hills, and Jack Benny is out in the backyard in overalls and long white gloves, planting string beans again — last year's crop was so small the bugs were picking them. This time he has a miracle fertilizer. Between Rochester refusing to taste his "mushrooms," Dennis shooting the garden hose he mistook for a snake, and Mary demanding her dime back for the cucumber seeds, Jack dozes off on the sofa and dreams the beans came up after all: a beanstalk through the clouds, a fall broken by the Los Angeles smog, a rabbit who asks "What's up, Doc?", and a giant with a hen that lays golden eggs. From March 28, 1954, with Mary Livingstone, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Dennis Day, Don Wilson, Bob Crosby, and Mel Blanc.

| Old Time Radio Comedy — The Jack Benny Program: "Dennis Wants to Join the Air Force" | Full Episode | 21 sept. 2026 | 00:25:25 | |
For more than twenty years Jack Benny ran the best-loved comedy in American radio, and the joke was always himself: vain, penny-pinching, stuck forever at 39, and hopeless on the violin. In this April 1954 broadcast it is spring-cleaning day at Jack's house. Rochester has the place turned inside out, Dennis Day breezes in to announce he is enlisting, and Jack retreats into a book for some peace and quiet -- which is when the show hands itself over to the story. Jack becomes a distinguished psychiatrist, the patients start filing in, and Mel Blanc arrives as a man who is absolutely certain he is a refrigerator.

| Old Time Radio Thriller — Lights Out: "Execution" (1943) | Full Episode | 19 sept. 2026 | 00:29:15 | |
Lights Out was radio's premier horror series, and it reached its best-remembered form when writer-director Arch Oboler brought it back to CBS in 1942 — a half hour of dread delivered to a country already living through a war. Oboler used the show as readily for human terror as for the supernatural, and "Execution" is one of his sharpest wartime thrillers. In an occupied French village, a German officer claims a woman fired on him from a darkened window. The reprisal is announced at once: unless she comes forward, fifty women of the village will hang. What follows is a long, airless night of suspicion, silence and terrible arithmetic, as neighbors weigh one life against fifty and wait to see who will speak. No ghosts, no monsters — only what people do to each other under occupation.

| Old Time Radio Horror — Quiet, Please: "Whence Came You" (1948) | Full Episode | 17 sept. 2026 | 00:29:37 | |
Quiet, Please was radio's quietest horror show and its strangest — Wyllis Cooper wrote and directed every episode, and Ernest Chappell told them to you in a calm, confiding voice with nothing behind it but an organ and a lot of deliberate silence. In "Whence Came You," an American archaeologist named Austin comes back to Shepheard's Hotel in Cairo and sees a woman in the lobby who is gone before he can cross to her. Out at the dig, a newly opened chamber holds a gold-robed figure with the head of a hawk, a wall painting of Osiris and his daughter — wearing the face of the woman from the hotel — and a stone slab that comes down behind him. What waits in the dark has been waiting a very long time, and it knows his name.

Bodies start turning up, a Treasury agent among them, and the trail runs into Chinatown, where Marlowe nearly gets taken at gunpoint. By the time he learns what the orange dog really is, he is standing in the middle of a counterfeiting ring, with two questions still open: whether Horner is dead at all, and whether the missing sister ever existed.

| Old Time Radio Western — Tales of the Texas Rangers: "Soft Touch" (1950) | Full Episode | 07 sept. 2026 | 00:29:46 | |
Movie star Joel McCrea rides the airwaves as Ranger Jace Pearson in NBC's Tales of the Texas Rangers — a hard-nosed police procedural with sagebrush in its boots, dramatizing real cases from the Ranger files with technical advice from the legendary Captain M.T. "Lone Wolf" Gonzaullas. In "Soft Touch," first heard October 29, 1950, a quiet elderly couple is found beaten to death in their own home. Robbery looks like the motive, but the savagery of the attack tells Pearson something uglier: this was no panicked amateur. Working the lab evidence, the pawn tickets, and the neighborhood gossip, Jace and Charcoal close in on a killer who picked what he figured was an easy mark. Featuring Tony Barrett, Paul Frees, Tom Tully, Virginia Gregg and Byron Kane, with a script by Russell Hughes and Stacy Keach Sr. producing.

| Old Time Radio Horror — Creeps By Night: "Six Who Did Not Die" (1944) | Full Episode | 06 sept. 2026 | 00:29:05 | |
Creeps by Night was the Blue Network's 1944 anthology of subtle, psychological chillers — a series so unnerving that listeners with heart conditions were warned to stay away. Boris Karloff launched it; by this July broadcast the host was known only as "Dr. X." In "Six Who Did Not Die," the captain of a pearl-diving schooner murders his crew so he can keep their share of the haul. Greed draws him back to the same lagoon for another run at the king-size pearls — until the new head diver, alone on the bottom in a brass helmet, reports that there are men down there in the dark with him. Only a handful of this series survives, making it one of the rarest horror anthologies of the golden age.

Here the Governor of Nevada wants a man named Jeremy Thompson delivered to Carson City, and Thompson is locked up down in Yuma. That's five days of desert between the prison gate and the handoff: five days alone with a prisoner who has every reason to talk his way loose, and an accomplice out there somewhere who would rather he never arrive at all. | Old Time Radio Thriller — Suspense: "Headshrinker" (1958) | Full Episode | 30 août 2026 | 00:28:26
For twenty years Suspense was radio's outstanding theater of thrills, dropping ordinary people into extraordinary danger and letting the tension do the rest. In "Headshrinker," a psychiatrist crosses the line with the patient he is supposed to be healing, and the affair poisons the very thing that was meant to save her. When she finally understands what has been done to her, she walks back into his office with a gun and a demand that it end — all of it. Writer-director William N. Robson called this one a deliberate departure from the usual Suspense formula: naked passion instead of orchestral embellishment, and a psychological knot earlier radio producers would not have dared to touch. Nina Foch and Helmut Dantine star, and the ending refuses to tell you whether anything was truly broken — or whether it is all about to begin again.

| Old Time Radio Horror — Quiet Please: "Wear the Dead Man's Coat" (1948) | Full Episode | 29 août 2026 | 00:29:31 | |
Quiet Please was radio's quietest horror show — Wyllis Cooper writing, Ernest Chappell talking straight to you, one organ in the dark, and almost no sound effects at all. In "Wear the Dead Man's Coat," a freezing, broke man kills a stranger in the street for the overcoat on his back. It's the warmest coat he's ever owned, he feels nothing about how he got it, and he's certain he'll never be caught. Then an old rhyme he heard as a boy comes back to him: wear the dead man's coat, and none will take note. People stop looking at him. Then they stop seeing him at all. First broadcast February 23, 1948, and still one of the finest half hours of horror radio ever made.

| Old Time Radio Detective — Boston Blackie: "Joe Nelson's Pet Shop Gambling Scheme" | Full Episode | 28 août 2026 | 00:27:27 | |
Boston Blackie is the reformed jewel thief who solves the cases the police can't — "enemy to those who make him an enemy, friend to those who have no friend" — with Inspector Faraday always half a step behind and usually pointing at Blackie. In this June 25, 1947 episode, ex-con Joe Nelson is going straight behind the counter of his pet shop when a racket boss offers to put a gambling setup in his back room. Nelson says no, then turns up murdered in Blackie's own apartment before he can finish his story. The killer strong-arms Nelson's cousin Frank into luring Blackie down to the shop, where Blackie is knocked cold, tied in a sack, and dropped in the river. Getting out of the sack is the easy part. Richard Kollmar stars as Blackie, with Jan Miner as Mary Wesley and Maurice Tarplin as Faraday.

| Old Time Radio Detective — Sherlock Holmes: "The Elusive Agent Part 2" (1949) | Full Episode | 26 août 2026 | 00:24:23 | |
John Stanley's Sherlock Holmes carried Baker Street through radio's late golden age, each half-hour framed as a case Dr. Watson recalls over a glass of sherry. "The Adventure of the Elusive Agent" is a rare three-part serial from the spring of 1949, set not in the gaslit 1890s but in 1913, with Europe drifting toward war. Mycroft Holmes has called his brother down from his bees in Sussex: the plans for an experimental armored fighting vehicle are gone, the naval officer entrusted with them was murdered on his honeymoon, and the agent who took them left almost nothing behind. This is part two of three — the hunt narrows, the trail turns on a question of identity, and the race is on to reach the plans before they leave England.

| Old Time Radio Western — The Six Shooter: "The Capture of Stacy Gault" (1953) | Full Episode | 20 août 2026 | 00:28:51 | |
James Stewart stars as Britt Ponset, the drifting Texas cowboy at the heart of NBC's folksy 1953 Western The Six Shooter. Word tears into the town of Elk Point that Stacy Gault — bank robber, outlaw, killer — is riding their way, and panic does the rest. Britt sees the rumor for what it is and finds himself the only cool head in town, trying to talk Elk Point down before a jumpy posse guns down a man who may well be innocent. | Old Time Radio Sci-Fi — X Minus One: "Mars Is Heaven" (1955) | Full Episode | 18 août 2026 | 00:26:20
X Minus One is the finest science fiction ever produced for radio — NBC's half hour of adult SF, drawn from the pages of Astounding and Galaxy and adapted by staff writers Ernest Kinoy and George Lefferts. "Mars Is Heaven" is its most famous half hour. The first rocket to Mars lands in 1987 and the crew comes down the ladder braced for a hostile world. What they find is Green Bluff, Illinois, 1928 — white frame houses, a bandstand, lilacs, a piano playing down the street, and the people they buried years ago. Lustig's grandparents. Captain Black's brother Edward, on the porch of the house Black grew up in. One by one the crew scatters into the arms of family and the mission simply dissolves. Only Dr. Horst, the ship's psychologist, finds nobody waiting for him, and he is the one who says it out loud: the Martians are telepaths, the town is being read out of the crew's own memories, and every man who walks into a house tonight walks in alone. Adapted by Ernest Kinoy from Ray Bradbury's 1948 story, later folded into The Martian Chronicles. Broadcast May 8, 1955.

| Old Time Radio Horror — Lights Out: "Poltergeist" (1942) | Full Episode | 17 août 2026 | 00:25:26 | |
Lights Out is the program that taught radio how to frighten people — Arch Oboler writing for the ear alone, half an hour at a time, with a warning up front to send the children out of the room. In "Poltergeist," three young women from the city are walking a snowbound country road when they come across an old burying ground, and one of them dances on a grave as a joke. The nervous one tells them what the country people say about that: it wakes the noisy spirit, the one that throws stones. Minutes later a stone comes out of nowhere. Broadcast on CBS October 20, 1942, the third week of Oboler's fifty-two week revival, and later rerun under the title "Gravestone." Oboler closes by stepping out of the story to read from what he calls authenticated records — a London house in 1872 where stones flew and nobody ever explained it.

| Old Time Radio Western — Gunsmoke: "Jud's Woman" (1957) | Full Episode | 16 août 2026 | 00:24:20 | |
Gunsmoke is the show that invented the adult western on radio: Matt Dillon is the U.S. Marshal of Dodge City in the 1870s, and William Conrad plays him tired, blunt, and often too late to help. "Jud's Woman" comes from the sixth season, a Marian Clark script built around a marriage the whole town can see going wrong and a marshal with no legal standing to stop it. Clark had joined the writing staff that year and would go on to write more Gunsmoke than anyone but John Meston. Produced and directed by Norman Macdonnell, with Parley Baer as Chester, Georgia Ellis as Kitty, and Howard McNear as Doc. Broadcast on CBS, December 1, 1957.

| Old Time Radio Mystery — Box 13: "Short Assignment" (1948) | Full Episode | 14 août 2026 | 00:26:56 | |
Dan Holiday, mystery novelist and former newspaperman, keeps a standing ad running in the Star-Times: "Adventure wanted, will go anywhere, do anything — write Box 13." In "Short Assignment," the letter comes from Walter Flit, a private detective who is short on height and shorter on nerve, and who wants Holiday to stand in for him at a party where a suicide may have been nothing of the kind. What starts as an easy favor turns into a murder Holiday has to untangle among a room full of polite, well-dressed liars. Alan Ladd, then one of Hollywood's biggest box-office draws, both produced this syndicated 1948-49 series and starred as Holiday, with Sylvia Picker as his scatterbrained secretary Suzy and Edmund MacDonald as Lieutenant Kling.

| Old Time Radio Thriller — Suspense: "Twas the Night Before Christmas" (1953) | Full Episode | 13 août 2026 | 00:29:57 | |
For twenty years Suspense was radio's outstanding theater of thrills, and its favorite trick was to take a warm, ordinary room and put something terrible just outside it. Here the room is a house on Christmas Eve, the tree lit and the stocking hung, and the terrible thing is a wire from an airline. Greer Garson stars as the housekeeper raising a little girl named Kathy, who wants exactly one present this year: her mother and father, home from Paris. Their plane has gone missing in a storm — and now someone has to decide whether a child should be told the truth on the one night of the year she is certain that wishes come true. Written by Morton Fine and David Friedkin, with Ann Whitfield as Kathy and Howard McNear as Mr. Anderson. Stay to the last minute; Suspense saved one more turn. Originally broadcast December 21, 1953.

| Old Time Radio Detective — 21st Precinct: "The Platform" (1954) | Full Episode | 12 août 2026 | 00:30:22 | |
The 21st Precinct: 160 patrolmen, 11 sergeants, and four lieutenants — and Captain Frank Kennelly is the boss of all of them. CBS built this series from adaptations of true New York criminal records, told from the policeman's point of view, with the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association looking over its shoulder. In "The Platform," a tour of duty on Manhattan's Upper East Side turns on one of the most anonymous places in the city: a crowded subway platform, where everybody saw something and nobody saw the same thing. Everett Sloane stars as Kennelly, with Ken Lynch as Lt. Matt King and Harold Stone as Sgt. Waters. Originally broadcast January 13, 1954.

| Old Time Radio Detective — Dragnet: "Sixteen Jewel Thieves" (1949) | Full Episode | 11 août 2026 | 00:29:45 | |
Dragnet built its reputation on the unglamorous truth of police work — real LAPD case files, the names changed to protect the innocent, and Jack Webb's Sergeant Joe Friday moving through them at the pace of a man who has done this before. In this eleventh broadcast from the summer of 1949, a wave of burglaries is rolling across Los Angeles: sixteen jobs in sixteen nights, one every night, each one carrying the same unmistakable trademark. Thousands of dollars in jewels are gone and the man taking them is a craftsman. Friday and Sergeant Ben Romero work the pattern until it points to Walter Tracy — and then learn that catching the thief was the easy half. Tracy won't say where the loot is, and a confession without recovery means nothing to sixteen robbed households.
