Dr. Siraya Chunekamrai, DVM, is the first female president of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), a practicing equine veterinarian, and the founder of Thailand’s first equine surgery practice. She discusses the increased need for pet care in Thailand, and how she’s working to raise the standard of care in a growing market. She also talks about how the human-animal bond becomes even more important in countries where the standard of care is catching up to pet owners’ demands.
 

Dr. Alexandre Merlo, DVM, MSc, is the Zoetis (Brazil) Medical Lead for Internal Medicine and Biologicals, Global Commercial Development. During our podcast conversation, he discusses the increasing standards of veterinary care and approaches in Brazil and how that is needed to help meet the exponential growth in the country's pet ownership. He also talks about the strong influence of the human-animal bond on pet owner expectations and how innovations in pain management are leading to more opportunities for veterinary medicine in Brazil.
 

In part two of their conversation, Dr. John Innes, an independent pet pain management consultant and former professor of small animal surgery at University of Liverpool, and Dr. Duncan Lascelles, professor in comparative and translational pain research and Management at North Carolina State University and director of the Comparative Pain Research and Education Center (CPREC), continue to explore pet pain management. The two experts go further into detail about some of the latest innovations happening in the field, especially as it pertains to felines.

Dr. John Innes, BVSc, PhD, CdrtVR, DSAS (orth) FRCVS, is an advocate and consultant for pain management in pets, having recently retired as Chief Veterinary Officer with CVS Group. Dr. Duncan Lascelles, BSc, BVSc, PhD, FRCVS, CertVA, DSAS (ST), DECVS, DACVS, is a professor in Small Animal Surgery and Pain Management at North Carolina State University and director of the Comparative Pain Research and Education Centre (CPREC). Together, they share their extensive knowledge in pet pain management, including monoclonal antibodies, and how to deal with clients when they bring in a hurting pet.
 

Dr. Eleanor Green, renowned veterinarian and former dean at Texas A&M College
of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, returns to discuss adaptability in veterinary care and
how to better evolve in an increasingly digital era. Dr. Green talks about the hurdles veterinarians have
faced in the last few years alone surrounding mental wellness, a need for more digital resources and
how to remain flexible as the industry shifts.
