The Waiting Game28 sept. 202600:08:55

Someone tells you they’re interested—but the timing isn’t right. What should you do next?

Most businesses make one of two choices: they disappear and hope the prospect eventually comes back, or they start sending a series of increasingly awkward “just checking in” emails.

There’s a much better approach.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Laura Bennett, a specialist who designs private wine cellars for serious collectors. When a potentially lucrative project gets postponed, Laura discovers that effective follow-up isn’t about repeatedly asking prospects whether they’re ready to buy. It’s about giving them a reason to be glad they’re still hearing from you.

We’ll look at what you can actually send during that waiting period—including useful ideas, articles, case studies and observations that demonstrate your judgment—as well as how to use what prospects have already told you to make your follow-up far more relevant.

Because the objective isn’t simply to stay top-of-mind. It’s to become more valuable while they wait.

The Magnet Effect: Stop Chasing Wealthy Clients. Give Them a Reason to Come to You.25 sept. 202600:14:37

What If You Created the Room You Keep Trying to Get Invited Into?

Can hosting a dinner for 10 people really produce more affluent business than sponsoring an event attended by 600?

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Andrew Kellerman, a successful insurance advisor who spends nearly two years trying to get himself into the rooms where wealthy prospects and their advisors gather.

He attends conferences. He sponsors charity events. He networks. And eventually he spends $18,000 on an event sponsorship that gives him plenty of visibility—and almost nothing in the way of new business.

Then Andrew meets Claire Beaumont, a former luxury hospitality executive who introduces him to a very different approach: stop trying so hard to get invited into the right rooms and consider creating one yourself.

You'll discover why Andrew's intimate dinner for 12 works better than his conference sponsorship, why making his second event bigger actually makes it less effective, and why one of the most valuable people he meets never becomes a client at all.

We'll also look at practical ways to use small dinners, salons, sponsorships and events to attract affluent clients—including how to choose whom to invite, what to talk about, how to make the gathering valuable without turning it into a sales presentation, and why access may be considerably more valuable than exposure.

If you're trying to build relationships with affluent prospects and the people who influence them, this episode may change the way you think about events entirely.

How Much Should I Be Spending to Acquire a New Client?24 sept. 202600:10:29

Is spending $10,000 to acquire one new client outrageously expensive—or an absolute bargain?

It depends on what that client is actually worth.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Julian Mercer, a rare-book specialist who's horrified to discover he spent $14,600 acquiring a single client—until he looks at what happened next.

You'll also meet Celeste Armand, who places private household staff for wealthy families and believes most of her clients cost almost nothing to acquire. They don't.

Through their stories, we'll look at three practical numbers worth knowing: what a good client is actually worth, what you're really spending to acquire clients, and which marketing sources produce your most valuable clients.

Because the objective isn't necessarily to acquire clients as cheaply as possible.

It's to spend intelligently enough to acquire more of the clients you really want.

How Much of Your Personality Should You Show in Your Marketing?23 sept. 202600:10:54

How much of yourself should prospective clients see before they decide to hire you?

Show too little personality and you can look polished, professional—and virtually indistinguishable from everyone else. Show too much, and your personality can begin to overshadow the expertise people are actually paying for.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Claire, a highly successful interior designer whose marketing reveals almost nothing about the fascinating person behind the work, and David, a luxury real estate professional facing almost the opposite problem.

Their stories reveal a useful middle ground: curated personality—showing the parts of yourself that help prospective clients understand how you think, what you believe and what it would actually be like to work with you.

You'll also learn a simple three-part exercise for deciding what belongs in your marketing, why personality becomes increasingly important when you're selling an expensive service, and why occasionally turning off the wrong prospect can actually help you attract the right one.

Do I need a sales page or is my regular website enough?22 sept. 202600:09:14

Where you send a prospect after they become interested in you matters more than most people realize.

Sometimes the right destination is your main website, where they can explore your services, learn more about you and decide what interests them. Other times, giving them all those choices may actually make it less likely they'll take action.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I explore the pros and cons of sending prospects to a general website versus a dedicated sales page—and explain why I think the right answer depends largely on what you already know about what that prospect wants.

I'll also show you how I use two different calls to action—MORE and CONFIDENCE—to demonstrate the strategy in my own marketing.

The key idea: The more specific the prospect's interest, the more focused the destination should be.

How Do You Sell an Expensive Service Without Sounding Salesy?21 sept. 202600:13:46

The more expensive your service becomes, the less your prospective clients want to feel like they're being sold.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Rebecca Sloan, an executive search consultant trying to land a $125,000 engagement with the owner of a multigenerational family business—until he finally tells her, “Please stop trying to close me.”

What happens next illustrates an important lesson about selling high-value services: your job isn't necessarily to convince someone to say yes. It's to help them make a confident decision.

You'll discover three practical ways to do that, including how to uncover what's really preventing a prospect from moving forward, demonstrate your expertise without bragging, and create urgency without resorting to sales pressure.

And if you'd like more practical ideas for attracting affluent clients, subscribe to Whales Not Minnows, my private intelligence briefing. The Podcast I Wanted to Listen To—but Couldn’t Find18 sept. 202600:10:47

You probably don’t need another marketing podcast.

Especially if listening to one simply leaves you with 14 more things you’re supposed to be doing.

In this slightly different episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I explain why I created the podcast, why I chose to build it around stories rather than interviews, and what I believe you should get in return for the 15 or 20 minutes you spend listening.

The podcast is built specifically for professionals who sell expensive services and want to attract more affluent clients. It’s not about accumulating thousands of leads, being everywhere on social media or turning yourself into a full-time marketer.

It’s about attracting more of the right people.

More importantly, every episode is designed around a simple promise: you should walk away with at least one idea you can actually use. Something that might help you attract a better client, improve a sales conversation, generate more referrals, strengthen your positioning or stop wasting time on marketing that isn’t producing business.

If you’ve ever wondered why conventional marketing advice doesn’t always work particularly well when you’re selling high-value services to affluent clients, this episode explains what The Velvet Rope Playbook is all about.

For more of my books, programs, resources and information about working with me personally, visit GetWealthyClients.com.

And if you enjoy the podcast, subscribe to The Velvet Rope Playbook wherever you like to listen. Better yet, think of someone who would benefit from one of the episodes and pass it along to them.

Marketing Quicksand: How to Get New Clients Without Letting Marketing Take Over Your Life17 sept. 202600:10:25

Marketing has a way of becoming quicksand.

You start with a website and a few emails. Then somebody tells you that you need Instagram, LinkedIn, videos, a podcast, a newsletter, more content and half a dozen other things. Before long, you're spending so much time marketing your business that you barely have time to run it.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Samantha Delaney, a private jeweler who discovers that the answer isn't doing more marketing. It's creating a much simpler system.

You'll discover how to build your marketing around one useful idea, put that idea in front of the right people, and give them one logical next step. You'll also see how one piece of useful content can become a video, email, social post, podcast or article—without constantly having to invent something new.

If you're responsible for both getting new clients and actually delivering the service they're paying you for, this episode will show you how to stop getting sucked into marketing quicksand and create a system you can realistically maintain.

How do you get more referrals without constantly asking people for them?16 sept. 202600:09:05

Most professionals would love more referrals. What they don’t particularly enjoy is repeatedly asking their clients, “Do you know anyone you could introduce me to?”

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I explain a different approach: give your clients something specific to talk about.

You’ll discover why referrals are often triggered by timing and memory, how sharing useful ideas can make you easier to recommend, and why the goal is to have your name naturally come to mind when someone in your client’s circle mentions a problem you know how to solve.

The best referral strategy may not be asking more often. It may be becoming more memorable at exactly the right moment.

How Do You Get Clients Who Have Never Heard of You?15 sept. 202600:09:00

What happens when you've built a successful business largely through referrals and relationships—but now you want to attract clients outside the circle of people who already know your name?

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Victoria Bennett, a successful interior designer who spent 20 years building a thriving referral-based business in Washington, D.C. When she decides to expand into Palm Beach, she discovers that the reputation that made attracting clients relatively easy at home doesn't automatically travel with her.

You'll discover why simply getting more visibility isn't enough, how to create evidence that builds trust with people who've never met you, and a practical three-story strategy you can use to demonstrate your expertise rather than simply claim it.

If you want to expand into a new market, reach affluent prospects outside your existing network, or become known by people who don't yet know your name, this episode will show you where to start.

What to Say When a Wealthy Prospect Tells You You're Too Expensive15 sept. 202600:10:25

What should you do when a prospect looks at your proposal and says, “That's too expensive”?

The instinct is usually to defend your price—explain your experience, list everything they're getting, or try harder to demonstrate your value. But that may be exactly the wrong response.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Nicholas Ferraro, a high-end landscape architect who encounters two wealthy prospects with the same objection—but for completely different reasons.

You'll discover why “too expensive” is often a symptom rather than the real objection, the question to ask before defending your price, and how takeaway selling can completely change the dynamic of a sales conversation.

You'll also learn why some price objections should be overcome—and why others may be telling you that this is a prospect you should happily allow to walk away.

Why More Leads May Be the Last Thing You Need14 sept. 202600:08:16

What if your marketing is working exactly as intended—more traffic, more inquiries, more sales calls—and it's actually making your business worse?

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Ethan Caldwell, a successful private aviation broker who discovers that generating more leads isn't the same thing as attracting better clients.

You'll learn why marketing to affluent prospects sometimes needs to repel as well as attract, how to determine whether your positioning sounds exactly like your competitors, and a simple way to make your marketing start qualifying prospects before you ever speak with them.

If you sell a premium service, the goal isn't necessarily more attention. It's having more of the right people arrive already understanding why they should be talking to you.

How to Follow Up Without Becoming a Pain in the Ass11 sept. 202600:08:28

How often should you follow up with a prospective client without becoming annoying?

The answer may have less to do with how frequently you follow up and much more to do with what happens when you do.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, you'll meet Jonathan Mercer, a successful consultant who nearly loses a $180,000 engagement by doing what thousands of professionals do every day: repeatedly “checking in.”

You'll discover a simple follow-up rule that can help you remain in front of valuable prospects without chasing them, why interest and readiness aren't the same thing, and how the right follow-up can demonstrate your expertise before someone ever becomes a client.

Stop Looking for Clients in the Wrong Places10 sept. 202600:07:01

If you want more affluent clients, the answer may not be doing more marketing. It may be focusing your effort in places where trust already exists.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I explain why wealthy prospects frequently choose professionals they already know, people recommended by someone they trust, or recognized experts whose reputation reaches them before the sales conversation begins.

You’ll discover why broad visibility doesn’t always produce high-quality clients, how to identify the people and relationships that can place you inside the right circles, and why becoming easier to recommend may be far more valuable than simply trying to reach more strangers.

Because the question isn’t only, “Where can I find more prospects?”

It’s also, “Where are the people most likely to trust me already looking—and who do they already listen to?”

The Most Dangerous Number on Your Website09 sept. 202600:09:55

Should you put your prices on your website?

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I explain why publishing your price can either help qualify the right prospects—or cause someone to walk away before they understand what they’re actually getting.

You’ll learn when price transparency makes sense, when it can work against you, and how to give people enough context to evaluate your fee intelligently.

Because sometimes your price isn’t too high.

They simply saw it too soon.

The Hidden Job of Instagram That Most Businesses Completely Miss08 sept. 202600:11:03

You may be thinking about Instagram all wrong.

For professionals trying to attract affluent clients, Instagram isn’t simply a place to post content, accumulate followers or hope that someone sees a Reel and immediately becomes a client.

Increasingly, Instagram is a credibility platform.

Someone hears your name from a friend, colleague or trusted advisor. Before they ever contact you, they look you up. They visit your website. They check LinkedIn. And very often, they take a quick look at Instagram.

They may never follow you. They may never like a post. You may never know they were there.

But they’re forming an opinion.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, Mark Satterfield explains the often-overlooked role Instagram plays in the affluent marketing funnel through the stories of two successful business owners who believe Instagram doesn’t matter because their clients “aren’t on Instagram.”

You’ll discover why that assumption misses the point, what prospective clients may really be looking for when they check your social presence, and how your Instagram content can either reinforce a personal referral—or quietly undermine it.

You’ll also learn a simple way to evaluate your own digital presence by looking at your website, Instagram, LinkedIn and other online platforms through the eyes of someone who has just been told, “You really ought to talk to this person.”

Because the real question isn’t whether your best prospects follow you on Instagram.

It’s what they think about you when they check you out.

How to Sell Without Feeling Like You're Selling07 sept. 202600:11:37

If you hate the idea of selling, you're not alone. I don't particularly like sales either—and that's one of the reasons I became a marketer.

Because when your marketing does its job properly, there should be considerably less left to sell.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Daniel Mercer, an expert at helping wealthy families acquire investment land who decides he needs to become a better closer. Unfortunately, the sales techniques he learns have exactly the opposite effect on an affluent prospect with a finely tuned radar for being sold.

We'll look at a very different approach: creating a sequence of marketing experiences that gets someone's attention, demonstrates your expertise, establishes trust, makes your differences clear and stays in touch until they're ready to move forward.

You'll also discover why this approach is particularly effective with affluent prospects, who are constantly being approached by people who want something from them.

The objective isn't to become better at convincing people.

It's to create marketing that does enough of the selling beforehand that doing business with you eventually feels like their idea.

Why Wealthy People Ask Other Wealthy People Who to Hire04 sept. 202600:12:45

If you want more affluent clients, it may be more valuable to stop asking only, “How do I reach more wealthy people?”and start asking:

“How do I become the person people who already know wealthy people think of first?”

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, we look at the overlapping circles of trust that surround affluent clients—and why the relationships you build with attorneys, accountants, advisors, specialists and other trusted professionals can become one of your most valuable sources of new business.

You’ll discover why a recommendation from someone inside an affluent prospect’s world carries so much weight, why one excellent client can become an introduction to an entire network, and what it takes to become genuinely easy to recommend.

But there’s an important distinction. You can’t manufacture peer validation simply by asking successful clients for names. A recommendation has to feel deserved. When someone introduces you, they’re placing part of their own judgment and reputation on the line.

That means your work must be memorable, your point of distinction must be clear, and the experience you deliver must justify the confidence someone places in you.

Because the goal isn’t to spend your entire career searching for affluent prospects.

It’s to become the person affluent prospects are sent to when the right need arises.

Stop Letting New Business Slip Through Your Fingers03 sept. 202600:09:06

Most businesses spend an enormous amount of time and money trying to attract new prospects while overlooking something potentially far more valuable: the people who already showed interest but never took the next step.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Caroline, the owner of a successful interior design firm who was convinced she needed more leads. What she actually had was a “what happened to everybody?” problem.

You'll discover why someone who doesn't buy immediately hasn't necessarily rejected you, why follow-up becomes even more important when you're selling expensive services, and how to reconnect with interested prospects without chasing, pestering or sounding desperate.

Before you spend another dollar trying to attract strangers, it might be worth looking at the prospects you've already paid—in time, effort or money—to find.

Because sometimes the fastest way to get your next client isn't finding someone new. It's being there a second time for someone who was already interested.

The $40,000 Website Nobody Wanted to Read31 août 202600:08:05

If you’re trying to attract affluent clients, making your marketing sound more sophisticated may actually be making it less effective. Your prospects shouldn’t have to work to understand what you do, who you help, or why your expertise matters to them.

In this episode, I share the story of a successful consultant with a beautiful, expensive website that somehow made his value harder to understand. We’ll look at why clarity is particularly important when marketing high-value services, how to recognize when your messaging has become unnecessarily complicated, and a simple test you can use to make your own marketing more compelling.

Because the goal isn’t to make affluent prospects think, “This person sounds impressive.” It’s to make them think, “This person understands exactly what I’m dealing with.”

And if you're looking at your own marketing and wondering whether you're communicating your value as clearly and persuasively as you could be, that's exactly the kind of thing I work on with clients personally.

Sometimes we need to look at your entire client attraction system. Other times, there's one particular piece—your positioning, your website, your offer, your follow-up, or simply the way you're explaining what you do—that's holding everything else back.

What People REALLY Pay Premium Prices For28 août 202600:05:08

Why are some professionals able to charge substantially more than equally qualified competitors? Often, it's because they're not selling the service itself. They're selling what the service makes possible.

Today, I'll show you a simple messaging exercise: "People don't pay premium prices for ________. They pay premium prices for ________." You'll learn how to move beyond describing services, credentials, and deliverables and identify the deeper outcome affluent clients are actually willing to pay more to receive.

I'll also show you a powerful question to ask: What does your client get to stop worrying about once they hire you?The answer can help you uncover a far more compelling way to position your expertise, differentiate yourself from competitors, and justify premium fees.

What can a 60-year-old advertising idea teach us about attracting affluent clients today? Quite a lot.27 août 202600:06:55

Advertising legend Rosser Reeves popularized the Unique Selling Proposition—the idea that your marketing should give people one compelling reason to choose you. That's particularly important with affluent prospects because they usually have plenty of qualified professionals to choose from.

Today I’m showing you how to apply Reeves' thinking to modern affluent marketing, why generic claims about experience and exceptional service aren't enough, and how to identify the one valuable idea you want prospective clients to associate with your name. I also explain why repeating that central message—in different stories, videos and examples—is far more powerful than constantly reinventing your marketing.

The 2 Stories That Give Affluent Clients a Reason to Choose You.26 août 202600:08:24

If you want to attract more affluent clients, there are two types of stories that can make your marketing considerably more persuasive.

Today , I explain The Cost of a Cheap Fix Story—how to demonstrate the hidden cost of choosing the wrong provider—and The Peer Validation Story—how to show affluent prospects that you've successfully helped people whose circumstances are similar to theirs.

Affluent clients usually have plenty of qualified professionals to choose from. These stories address two of the biggest factors in that decision: risk and relevance. One helps prospects understand why the cheapest or easiest solution can ultimately become the most expensive. Why Someone Worth $20 Million Might Still Tell You You're Too Expensive25 août 202600:08:57

A wealthy prospect can easily afford what you're selling—and still think you're charging too much.

That's because wealth and willingness to pay are two entirely different things. Net worth tells you what someone canspend. It tells you very little about what they believe something is worth.

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Douglas Whitmore, a successful entrepreneur worth more than $20 million, and Peter Langston, a vintage automobile expert who couldn't understand why Douglas balked at his $85,000 fee.

The problem wasn't Douglas's ability to pay. It was Peter's failure to make the value of his expertise unmistakable.

You'll discover why affluent clients can be surprisingly price-conscious, why premium pricing requires more than simply targeting people with money, and how to uncover the value in your expertise that may be obvious to you—but completely invisible to your prospective clients.

Because when an affluent prospect says, “You're too expensive,” they may actually be telling you something very different: “I don't yet see why you're worth it.”

Whoops! That Was a Waste of Marketing Dollars24 août 202600:07:06

When business slows down, the natural reaction is to start fixing things. A new website. More social media. Different messaging. A new CRM. Maybe an entirely new marketing strategy.

But what if most of your marketing is already working—and there's simply one weak link that's costing you clients?

In this episode of The Velvet Rope Playbook, I tell the story of Jonathan, a successful advisor who spent $42,000 trying to solve a marketing problem he didn't actually have. His experience illustrates a lesson that's particularly important for professionals selling high-value services: before you add more marketing, figure out exactly where your existing client-attraction process is breaking down.

I'll show you a simple way to examine the five things every business needs to turn strangers into clients—attention, interest, trust, desire and action—and identify the one area that deserves your attention.

Because sometimes the fastest way to grow isn't doing more. It's fixing the right thing.

Can't Get in Front of Affluent Clients? Here's a Better Way In21 août 202600:10:47

If you're trying to attract more affluent clients, you may be looking in the wrong place. Instead of asking, "How do I meet more wealthy people?" ask a different question: "Who already has relationships with the wealthy people I want to meet?"

If you're an architect, that might be luxury real estate agents, interior designers or art advisors. If you're in healthcare, it might be wealth advisors, private clubs or luxury travel advisors. If you sell luxury products, it could be exotic car dealers, galleries or high-end real estate professionals. Different businesses, but they're serving many of the same people you want to reach.

But don't approach them asking to exchange referrals. That's immediately transactional. Instead, find a reason for them to be glad they know you. Introduce them to someone useful. Feature their expertise in one of your videos. Invite them to participate in a small event. Send them information that's genuinely valuable. Become useful before you ever ask them for anything.

Because a wealthy client might know three people who could hire you. Someone who serves wealthy clients may know 300. Become known and trusted by the right people, and eventually your name starts coming up in conversations you're not even in.

If you'd like my help identifying who you should become known by and how to develop those relationships, visit https://www.getwealthyclients.com/private-strategy-session

Why Successful Professionals Get Intimidated by Wealthy Clients20 août 202600:09:43

You can have years of experience, an impressive track record, and all the expertise necessary to serve affluent clients—and still find yourself questioning whether you really belong in the room with them.

That’s where imposter syndrome becomes more than a confidence problem. It becomes a marketing and sales problem.

In this episode, I explain how imposter syndrome can subtly change the way you communicate with wealthy prospects. You may over-explain, try too hard to establish your credentials, become overly accommodating, hesitate to challenge a prospect’s thinking, or even second-guess what you charge. None of these behaviors necessarily look like insecurity, but they can undermine the very thing affluent clients are looking for: confidence in your judgment.

I’ll show you why you don’t need to match a wealthy prospect’s financial status to earn their respect, why trying to impress them can actually work against you, and a simple exercise you can use before your next affluent prospect meeting to shift your attention away from yourself and back to the value you bring to the conversation.

If you already have the expertise to serve wealthy clients but sometimes question whether you truly belong in their world, my Unshakable Inner Confidence program can help you become far more comfortable engaging wealthy prospects, navigating conversations and social situations, and presenting yourself as the confident advisor they expect.

How to Write Headlines That Make People Stop and Pay Attention18 août 202600:11:23

Why do some headlines instantly grab your attention while others disappear into the background?

Today, I break down what some of the most legendary advertising headlines have in common and reveal the psychological triggers that make people stop, pay attention, and want to know more. More importantly, I’ll show you how to apply those same principles to the headlines, email subject lines, YouTube titles, social media posts, and marketing messages you’re creating for your own business.

You’ll learn how curiosity, specificity, self-interest, loss aversion, and the unexpected can dramatically change the way people respond to your message. I’ll also give you a simple exercise you can use to generate multiple headline ideas for virtually anything you’re selling—and show you how AI can help you apply these proven direct-response principles without making your marketing sound generic or artificial.

A great headline doesn’t have to make the sale. It simply has to earn the next 10 seconds of attention. And in a marketplace where your prospects are being bombarded with messages all day long, those 10 seconds can be enormously valuable.

If you’d like help creating the positioning, messaging, and marketing system that turns that attention into affluent clients, comment COACH or visit https://www.getwealthyclients.com/private-strategy-session and I’ll send you information about working with me personally.

Are We Still Fascinated by the Rich?17 août 202600:08:59

At dinner the other night the question came up…Are people as fascinated with the rich as they were in the 1980s? I think they are. They're just fascinated by different things.

In the 1980s, if you wanted to signal success, you bought the biggest house, the fastest car, or the watch with the biggest logo. Success was about being seen. Today, many of the wealthiest people intentionally avoid that kind of attention because showing off isn't nearly as impressive as it once was.

Instead, people have become fascinated by something else. They want to know how successful people think. They read biographies, listen to podcasts, follow entrepreneurs, and study the habits of top performers. The curiosity has shifted from what they own to how they make decisions.

Here's something you can do this week that reflects that shift. Instead of posting another testimonial or announcing another achievement, share one decision you've made in your business that turned out to be the right one. Explain why you made it, what you learned, and how that lesson could help someone else avoid the same mistake.

People don't just buy expertise. They buy judgment. Every time you demonstrate how you think, you're giving prospective clients a preview of what it's would be like to work with you. That's far more compelling than simply telling them you're experienced.

If you become known for the quality of your thinking instead of the size of your success, you'll attract exactly the kind of clients who value good judgment over flashy marketing.

If you're fascinated by how affluent people think, make sure you pick up a copy of my Amazon #1 bestseller, The Gilded Revival. It's not a book about becoming wealthy. It's a book about understanding the mindset of today's affluent consumer so you can build a business that naturally attracts them.

The Story Play: Why Narrative Closes What Numbers Never Can14 août 202600:04:33

In the world of ultra-high-net-worth clients, persuasion doesn’t come from pressure.

It comes from narrative.

In this episode, we dive into the legend of Declan “Two Rings” Moretti—a Palm Beach fixer whose stories sell more than stats ever could. From million-dollar art deals to whispered legends, Declan understands something most professionals miss:

The wealthy don’t buy products.

They buy meaning.

They buy myth.

They buy the feeling of being in on something special.

We unpack:

  • Why storytelling works better than sales pitches with affluent clients
  • How to turn features into emotional, high-status narratives
  • The art of creating mystique and allure without overselling
  • What makes a story irresistible in luxury markets
  • How you can apply Declan’s methods—even if you’re not dealing in Fragonards

Whether you’re a consultant, advisor, or high-end service provider, this episode shows you how to sell like the elite do—quietly, elegantly, and with a story that moves markets.

How Do You Change How The Market Perceives You?13 août 202600:07:54

How do you change the way the market perceives you—especially if you've spent years serving middle-market clients and now want to attract more affluent clients?

Simply calling yourself “luxury,” raising your prices, or redesigning your website probably isn't enough. People change their perception when they begin seeing enough new evidence to put you into a different category.

Today, I explain practical ways to reposition yourself and your business, including how to create a flagship offering, use strategic “credential projects,” change the professional circles in which people encounter you, eliminate marketing that reinforces your old positioning, and develop a point of distinction that makes you easier to remember and refer.

And becoming known for something specific does NOT mean you have to limit everything you do. There’s a big difference between narrowing your services and narrowing what you're known for. Your point of distinction can become the front door that leads affluent clients into a much broader range of complementary services.

How to Use Curiosity to Make Your Marketing More Engaging12 août 202600:07:54

Why do some people immediately capture your attention while others—despite having something worthwhile to say—lose you almost instantly?

The answer often comes down to curiosity.

Curiosity creates engagement. It makes people lean in, pay attention and want to know what comes next. And that principle applies whether you're having a conversation, giving a presentation, writing an email, creating a video, recording a podcast or trying to attract a prospective client.

In this episode, I share a simple way to create what I call a "curiosity gap"—the space between what someone already knows and what they suddenly want to know. You'll discover several questions you can ask yourself to uncover more compelling ideas, how specificity can make a story almost impossible to ignore, and a simple two-sentence test you can use to determine whether your message is actually engaging.

Because getting attention isn't necessarily about being louder, more outrageous or more promotional. Sometimes you simply need to give people a reason to wonder, "Wait…what does he mean by that?"

And if you'd like help creating messaging that gets the attention of the affluent clients you want to attract, I can help. In less than an hour working together, we can develop messaging specifically for your business that's compelling, curiosity-driven and designed to make the right prospects want to know more about you and what you do.

The Simple Follow-Up Strategy That Builds Trust & Credibility11 août 202600:07:30

Most professionals think video is only for attracting new clients.

But one of the smartest marketing ideas I've seen recently came from my hip replacement surgeon, Dr. Brekke at Duke Regional.

After I scheduled surgery, I began receiving a series of simple, helpful videos explaining what to expect before surgery, how to prepare, what recovery would look like, and how to stay motivated.

Those videos weren't selling me.

They were reinforcing trust.

In this video, I explain why every professional—from attorneys and financial advisors to physicians, consultants, and accountants—should consider creating an automated video sequence that educates, reassures, and builds confidence after someone becomes a client.

These simple videos reduce uncertainty, answer common questions, strengthen relationships, and generate more referrals without requiring ongoing effort.

If you want affluent clients who trust you more, stay longer, and enthusiastically refer others, this strategy is one of the easiest to implement.

Why You Don't Have to Be Rich to Sell to the Wealthy10 août 202600:05:39

Do you need to be wealthy before you can attract wealthy clients?

It's one of the most common limiting beliefs I hear from professionals, consultants, advisors, attorneys, accountants, architects, financial advisors, and business owners.

The truth is that affluent clients aren't looking for someone with a bigger house or a more expensive lifestyle. They're looking for someone who understands their world, solves meaningful problems, and inspires confidence.

In this video, I'll explain why comparing lifestyles is one of the fastest ways to undermine your confidence—and I'll share a simple exercise you can use to replace assumptions with evidence so you can communicate with affluent prospects more naturally and effectively.

If you've ever felt intimidated by high-net-worth clients, this video will help you change the way you think about selling to the affluent market.

The "So What?" Test That Will Instantly Improve Your Marketing07 août 202600:03:30

Most professionals know the difference between features and benefits—at least in theory.

But when it comes time to write their website, social media posts, emails, or sales presentations, they stop one sentence too soon.

They describe what they do...and assume the prospect will figure out why it matters.

That's a costly mistake.

In this video, I share a simple copywriting technique that has improved almost every piece of marketing I've written: asking one simple question...

"So what?"

You'll discover:

  • The real difference between features and benefits
  • Why prospects don't automatically connect the dots
  • How to make your website and marketing more persuasive

The Two Hidden Leaks Costing You Clients Every Week06 août 202600:07:38

Most marketing advice focuses on one thing: getting more traffic.

But traffic alone doesn't grow your business.

Neither does having a beautiful website.

The businesses that consistently attract affluent clients understand there are only two levers that matter: traffic and conversion. If either one is weak, your marketing leaks opportunities every day.

In this video, I explain the simple "bucket with two holes" framework I use to diagnose why marketing underperforms and how improving both visibility and conversion can dramatically increase your results.

If you're a consultant, financial advisor, attorney, architect, physician, or other professional who wants to attract more affluent clients, this framework can change the way you think about marketing.

Why More Marketing Isn't Getting You More Clients05 août 202600:06:51

Why do some businesses seem to attract affluent clients effortlessly while others struggle despite having great websites, active social media, and plenty of visibility?

The answer is simple: visibility creates awareness, but trust creates appointments.

In today's episode I explain why affluent buyers don't hire professionals simply because they've heard of them. They hire the person who gives them confidence before the first conversation ever takes place.

You'll learn:

  • Why awareness alone rarely converts affluent prospects.
  • The difference between marketing activities and a true marketing system.
  • Why referrals often fail after someone visits your website.
  • How every piece of your marketing should work together to build trust and reduce uncertainty.
  • The marketing approach that positions you as the obvious choice instead of just another option.

If you're a financial advisor, attorney, architect, consultant, physician, luxury real estate professional, or other expert serving affluent clients, this video will help you rethink how your marketing should actually work.

Whether you're a lawyer at a large law firm, a CPA at a national accounting firm, a consultant, financial professional, or physician working within a large organization, it's easy to assume your marketing options are limited.

In today's chapter, I explain why the professionals who attract the best clients don't necessarily have the most freedom—they've built a reputation that extends far beyond their company's website.

You'll discover:

  • Why your reputation matters more than your firm's marketing
  • How to become known for a highly specific area of expertise
  • Practical ways to increase your visibility without violating company policies

In the elite circles of old-money New York, few names carried weight like Eliot “Cuffs” Marston.

  • Why restraint, not flash, is the new flex in elite circles
  • What it really means to be “useful” to powerful families

In today’s episode, you’ll hear the story of Daniel Hartley—a quiet power player in luxury real estate, private equity, and family office circles—who built a world-class reputation without shouting, selling, or self-promoting.

Instead, he mastered the art of borrowed credibility.

We break down:

  • Why elite clients care more about who you’re aligned with than what you claim
  • How “association marketing” works in real estate, financial services, and consulting
  • The difference between authentic proximity and status-chasing
  • The symbols and signals the wealthy look for when deciding who belongs in their world

Whether you’re selling investments, million-dollar homes, or strategic advice…

This episode is a masterclass in quiet power and elite positioning.

In the world of luxury, there’s noise—and then there’s Rolex.

In this episode, we dive deep into the Rolex Playbook—and what it teaches anyone selling high-end services about:

  • Crafting perception instead of pushing promotions
  • Using scarcity as a status accelerator
  • Why controlled access is more powerful than mass exposure
  • How to become a “must-have” for elite clients—without chasing anyone
  • The unspoken advantage of making people wait (and want) more
