The Hidden Cost of Raising “Well-Behaved” Kids with Katherine Sellery [97]03 Sep 202500:28:55

Send us a text

In this episode, I talk with Katherine Sellery, parenting coach, TEDx speaker, and founder of the Conscious Parenting Revolution, about one of the most common but harmful goals in parenting: obedience.

Katherine explains why raising “well-behaved” kids—children who never rock the boat and always put others’ comfort before their own—can actually lead to self-betrayal and long-term struggles with confidence, boundaries, and safety. Instead of seeking obedience, we can raise kids who:

  • Respect themselves and others
  • Trust their own inner voice
  • Can safely say “no” when needed (the #1 protective factor against harm)
  • Feel seen, valued, and respected as individuals

We also explore what happens when parents swing too far into permissiveness, how to set limits without falling back on control and punishment, and why parents need to trust themselves while still learning new tools.

This is a conversation that will challenge the way you think about “good behavior” and give you a vision for raising children who are both respectful and deeply connected to themselves.

Welcome to Season 317 Mar 202300:01:25

Send us a text

This season, we’re diving deep into powerful positive parenting—the mindset and strategies that will transform how we show up for our kids. While some call it gentle parenting, I call it powerful, because the goal isn’t just to build a beautiful connection. It’s about being both firm and kind, creating boundaries that help children feel safe while fostering a loving relationship.

I’ll be sharing all I’ve learned during my 10-month certification as a Positive Parenting Educator, as well as my own experiences parenting three vibrant girls. We’ll talk about real, practical tools, and I’ll share stories of both success and struggle, offering empowerment for those moments when the journey gets tough.

You’ll also hear from educators and fellow moms on how to raise good human beings while creating a family dynamic that’s rooted in love, respect, and firm boundaries. It’s a process, and it will be challenging at times, but it’s worth it. Together, we can upgrade our family legacies and break unhealthy generational patterns.

I can’t wait to go on this journey with you!

Today, I’m talking with Chloe Jimenez-Peters, a transformational hypnotherapist who helps women uncover and heal the subconscious beliefs that keep them stuck in cycles of depression, premenstrual dysphoric disorder PMDD, and emotional dysregulation. In this episode, we dive into:
✅ The surprising connection between childhood beliefs and mental health struggles
✅ How PMDD symptoms can resurface past trauma—and what to do about it
✅ Why traditional mindset work often fails and how hypnotherapy rewires the brain
✅ The role of cycle awareness in parenting and emotional regulation

Chloe shares powerful insights on breaking free from limiting beliefs, healing at the subconscious level, and reclaiming emotional balance—especially for moms navigating PMDD. Whether you’ve experienced these struggles yourself or want to understand them better, this conversation is packed with eye-opening moments and practical tools.

Speak So They’ll Listen: Positive Parenting Through Intentional Communication [73]06 Nov 202400:12:42

In this episode, we’re diving into the heart of positive parenting with our second key pillar: intentional communication. Building on that foundation, this episode introduces practical tweaks to transform everyday interactions. From using a “pause button” to manage our reactions to keeping a positive “emotional bank account” with our children, you’ll gain actionable tips for using tone, choice, and active listening to foster cooperation and trust. We’ll also walk through a simple 3-step approach for making requests that helps kids feel respected and understood.

Relisten: How to Be the Mom That Your Kids and Their Friends Seek Advice From with Talia Jackson [94]23 Jul 202500:47:47

Send us a text

In this episode, I sat down with Talia Jackson, a relationship therapist with 18 years of experience and the incredible host of the podcast We Are Not Fine, where she and her co-host dive deep into the messy, beautiful world of relationships, with lots of laughs along the way.

Talia is one of the most warm, thoughtful, and grounding people I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with. Honestly, this conversation felt more like a cozy, healing therapy session than a typical interview.

We talked about so many important things, like:

  •  How to build a strong relationship with your teen so they’re open to your guidance
  •  What it takes to become that mom—the one kids and their friends come to for advice
  • When and how to start talking to your kids about intimate relationships

If you're parenting tweens or teens, or just want to feel seen and supported, this is one worth revisiting.

Tune in (again!) and let this one sink in.

Welcome to Season 2! Let's focus on the parent-child relationship19 Feb 202400:02:02

Send us a text

Welcome to Season Two of the "Unlock Your Child’s Full Potential" podcast, where we dive deep into practical ideas to help parents nurture the best in their children. I kicked off this podcast with a mission to spotlight the essential lessons and skills that give our kids a head start in life. After engaging in over 40 interviews with a diverse range of guests, a common theme emerged – that in order to have any influence over our kids, to teach them the life lessons we want,  we need to first establish ourselves as the trusted adults in their lives.

I believe in preparation, in laying a solid foundation. If you aim for a strong relationship with your child, if you want to be their go-to person in times of trouble, you must invest in your communication skills now. It's a process that takes time and commitment. Time is of the essence, especially before the teen years hit.

In this new season, our focus is squarely on the parent-child relationship. Buckle up for an insightful journey ahead! Welcome aboard!
