| Tim Dillon | 30 Aug 2019 | 00:57:08 | |
Today on Unlicensed Therapy I am joined by comedian, writer, and actor Tim Dillon. Tim shares with us a bit of his backstory on how he went from mortgage broker during the housing crisis to then reaching a tipping point where he was faced with a number of underlying self-revelations that directed him to pursue a career in comedy. While working on getting recognition to his name Tim credits the majority of his fan base to podcasting and comedian peers. Fast forward to present day he has gained over 200k subscribers for his podcast on YouTube and has been featured on two major media platforms for his stand-up.
In this episode we cover the festishization of mental illness and how over diagnosed it has become, partly as a result of people looking for an identity and finding it in what garners the most attention. In relation to that, we speak on the broad acceptance of overweight body types while ignoring the risks associated with obese people and all in the name of identity politics. On the other side of the spectrum we talk through the want to be in a committed relationship but the fear of rejection impeding that desire. Additionally, we discuss the feeling of being stagnant in your career while watching your counterparts succeed. As we wrap up the show Tim reveals to use at what age he became aware of his sexuality and why the feeling of anxiety while performing not only never goes away, but why it never should.

| Fahim Anwar | 21 Aug 2019 | 01:07:18 | |
Today on Unlicensed Therapy I am joined by comedian and host of the podcast “Fahim Anwar Dance Hour”, Fahim Anwar. On this episode Fahim and I begin with covering the basics of what should be required when doing a show or going on a podcast. We also deconstruct what Jay-Z’s 99 problems could possibly be along with why phones have such a bad reputation, especially around friends and partners. Eventually, we come to the conclusion that having the ability to sit in silence while on your phone resembles a deeper connection. As we reach the premise of the show Fahim shares his first world problems such as difficulty balancing career and personal life. Though, his biggest disappointment lies in the entertainment industry, most being from commercial auditioning but all auditions nonetheless. Stay with us as we go deeper on the details here on Unlicensed Therapy!

Today on the podcast we are joined by comedian and actor Rick Glassman. On this episode Rick shares with us how being diagnosed with Asperger syndrome late in life affected both his professional and personal life. Growing up Rick lacked the ability to read social and facial ques and as a result had little to no friends. Recognizing these limitations proved to be the easiest hurdle. Learning how to navigate through this condition on the other hand showed to be more challenging. As a high functioning adult Rick has been able to adapt almost effortlessly but not without the help of comedy. Comedy has directly improved his ability to connect with people through validation and although it is an ongoing battle his stage persona has formed into something you would not recognize from his young self. As we go further into the show Rick shares with us a few anecdotes confronting a security guard along with his basketball aspirations in college.

| Rafinha Bastos | 22 May 2019 | 01:05:43 | |
Today on Unlicensed Therapy I interview comedian, actor, and television personality Rafinha Bastos. Rafinha stated his career in Brazil as a host for multiple TV shows until he became noticed worldwide after The New York Times named him the most influential person on Twitter. Shortly after opportunities came pouring in and it was through that avenue that Rafinha was able to eventually pursue comedy in English.
On this episode we discuss how different not just comedy is in Brazil compared to America but how different the culture is too. Being born in Brazil, Rafinha grew up with much friendlier customs on how people, including strangers, treated each other. As oppose to in America where a bystander will more likely than not take no notice of your presence. Recognizing this contrast plays into how comedy is perceived in each country. In America audience members are more likely to become offended whereas in Brazil they are more accepting of jokes. As we continue the conversation Rafinha shares with us his experience of having a child who lives in a different country while pursuing his career and coming to the realization that he may be overprioritizing sex in his relationships.

Today on Unlicensed Therapy I speak with comedian Joel Jimenez to discuss his constant state of anxiety and attempt to mitigate it. From a young age Joel has experienced major panic and anxiety issues which have only been magnified by his mother’s ongoing health problems. Living in such high levels of panic have now resulted in developing insomnia, sometimes only sleeping 3 hours a night. In addition to living in fear, the remnant of his illness has even given people secondhand anxiety. Taking into account that Joel has no health insurance we take this opportunity to approach new avenues for possible remedies, experimenting with homosexuality or meditating serve as a couple examples. As we go on in the episode Joel shares with us how he suffers from hypochondria and his perspective as to why his children will not be introduced to Santa Claus.
