Be Here Now under Maharajji’s blanket as Baba Here Love, Sunshine and Mad Carl discuss Mad Carl Art, infinite levels, intuitive creativity, using paintings to blow minds, the big bang and much more. All of it is applied to our spiritual awakening happening Here and Now.

About Mad Carl:

He is a self styled Illustrator . He received the nick name "Mad Carl" in his youth due to a combination of his unique drawing style and unconventional personality.

Carl draws inspiration from Music, Nature, Egyptian Hieroglyphics, Primitive Art , the Divine and the Mundane. He seeks to incorporate an element of mystery in his work that he hopes will inspire the viewer to 'fill in the blanks" of the story in any given painting. These elements may appear to have a life of their own , almost existing before and after the painting was made.

Ongoing themes in Carl's work include expressionistic cityscapes (grown organically across the canvas) and stylistic bar scenes (populated with bizarre characters and charged emotions.) Carl paints through intuition; sometimes a certain line, brush stroke, color or texture just feels and looks right. He seeks to capture that blurry memory; that corner-of-the-eye hallucination inside of a fever dream, the almost untranslatable feel that is there and then gone.

“People sometimes are turned off by meditation when they begin with a method that is too hard for them. It helps to use a method which uses your natural tendencies, and so reinforces a positive attitude. At the outset choose a method that harmonizes with what you are already good at, a method that interests you. Follow it until you feel a strengthened connection to a quietness of mind, to a meditative awareness, to God.”

Because they make perfect sense and they were designed by a conscious being. Right? But the thing is, even the people that are teaching them aren’t conscious about that level of it, most of them. Now I felt that I was born a Jew for some reason and I am wanting to find out why. But every time I get near people who would like to tell me why, the vibration of the reason they want to tell me somehow turns me off. It’s often that a Jewish Rabbi will come along and want to get me to recognize my Judaism but their desire is not pure – there is something in them, what it is I don’t know…” – Ram Dass, Berkley Comm. Be Here Now under Maharajji’s blanket as Bill returns to the podcast. Baba Here Love and Danny discuss our new band Broke by Tuesday, Criminal Justice, Sports, Basketball, Oneness, The Cosmic Joke, The Birds, Gambling, The best football team ever The Eagles, and Remember Be Here Now. “Humor puts things in perspective. There are many levels of humor. There is a humor of survival, a humor of sex and gratification, a humor connected with power. Beyond all these there is a humor that is filled with compassion. It is reflected in the tiny upturn in the mouth of the Buddha, for he sees the humor in the universal predicament. All beings are lost in illusion, yet he knows that they will awaken from that illusion for they are, at heart, already enlightened. He knows that what seems so hard to them is from another perspective their own path to liberation. Often the perspectives about yourself and the universe that you arrive at through meditation make you want to giggle or laugh. This giggle is without malice. It’s a cosmic giggle, one that I identify with my guru, Maharaj-ji. For his giggle was not of this world. It was not a social or personality giggle, but rather a cosmic chuckle, the delight in the fun of it all. It is all applied to our spiritual awakening. “Allen Ginsberg is a very close friend of mine, and for a long time, because Allen was being very much publicly gay in his writings and his writing at work, I questioned whether that was my role too. I saw along the way, because of my drug history, that I was identified by many people as being a “druggie.” I began to see that every one of these roles and labels was both a way of having a feeling of comfort in a group identity, while also being a defining concept in my own mind. I see people who have labels in their mind of who I am. I found it a little too complicated to have any labels at all.” - Ram Dass Marcus has been creative all of his life. All of it is related to our spiritual awakening. “The final awakening is the embracing of the darkness into the light. That means embracing our humanity as well as our divinity. What we go from is being born into our humanity, sleep walking for a long time, until we awaken and start to taste our divinity. And then want to finally get free.
We see as long as we grab at our divinity and push away our humanity we aren’t free. If you want to be free, you can’t push away anything. You have to embrace it all. A Conversation Between Ram Dass & Terence McKenna https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wCUXVzOVprE Terence McKenna “It’s not a personal question to you, it’s a personal question from me. How do you like having the projection of special identity constantly laid on you?” Ram Dass “It’s a sādhanā. It’s my practice.” Terence McKenna “That’s a good answer. But you didn’t say how you liked it.” Ram Dass “I like it to the capacity I have to transpose it. If I can’t—I mean, sometimes, these are going very fast. And to just keep it transposed, then I love it. I love it. It’s like a fire. If the minute I start to lose it, it’s a fucking drag. It really is. Because, you know, I was in a situation in Miami where all these women with blue eyes and coiffured hair were grabbing at the buttons of my jacket. And I thought, “Oh, I don’t want this. Whatever this life is, I don’t want to be part of this. Be Here Now under Maharajji’s blanket as Baba Here Love and Shiva Das discuss conclusions, Krishnamurti, beliefs, models, gurus, the heart, surrender, letting go and more. All of it is related to our spiritual awakening. “I mean on the deeper devotional path, there is the offering of the emotion to God.  Saying, “Here, You take it.  I offer it to You.”  There is appreciating your humanity. “Yea, here I am. I’m human. I just lost it again.  Ah so!” There’s the Ah so — Right? “Okay. Once more. Boy, am I hung up.” These are all spiritual techniques. See, it’s the upleveling. It’s the ability to see it without denying it. Not saying, “I’m not really upset.” “I am upset. Far out. Here we are again.” It’s like talking with God and saying “Oh, look at how deliciously human I am.” Not to milk it.  Not to keep feeding it, but not to push it away. That’s the quickest way through. To acknowledge it, allow it, and then use body energy to keep working out the chemical stuff that’s built up and the tension in the body that’s been built up. And then get on with it and just keep letting go, letting go, letting go. Sometimes music does it. There are a lot of techniques that do it.” - Ram Dass राम राम राम I AM THE ONE I AM SHIVA 🕺🏿💃🏿♾💃🏿🕺🏿☝🏿 This is the only dance there is ✊🏿🖤☮️🖤✊🏿 It’s all One 1967 FOREVER ETERNITY NOW!!! Becky offers private sessions to help clients tap into their own inner wisdom, inspiring people to live their lives with greater ease and authenticity. www.magnoliamystic.com “Many years ago, I did a record album, six records. I did some stuff on WBAI in New York, a radio station, and a radio station in Montreal, and they made some records up of it. There was music, and there was a beautiful calligraphied book, all beautifully set out in a box. The whole thing sold for $4.50 mail order, six records. It was in another economic time, you understand, but that was still a good price. I gave my father, who was a successful man, a copy. And he said, “Pretty impressive.” I said, “Yep.” He said, “Selling it for $4.50?” “Yep.” “Looks like it’s worth a lot more than that.”  “Yep.” He said, “I bet you could get ten dollars for this.” “Right.” “Would fewer people buy it?” I said, “No.” He said, “I don’t understand you, are you against capitalism?” I said, “No.” He said, “Well, I’m very confused. You’ve got a product, it could sell for ten dollars, the same number of people would buy it, and you’re selling it for $4.50.” I said, “Well, it only cost me four dollars, and there’s fifty cents profit.” I tried to figure out how I could explain to him what the predicament was. I said, “Dad, you’re a lawyer. A few years ago, remember you tried a case for Henry?” “Yeah.” “Was it a tough case?” “Damn right it was. It took a lot of my time.” “Work at the law library a lot?” “I’ll tell you I worked, I really worked on that much more. I had to set a lot of things aside to do that.” I said, “You won it, didn’t you?” “Yeah, it went up to the Supreme Court of Massachusetts, but I won it!” I said, “Well, dad, I bet you charged a sizable fee.” My father had charged pretty good fees in his life. I said, “I bet you charged a sizable fee to Uncle Henry.” “What, are you out of your mind? It’s Uncle Henry! I couldn’t do that.” I said, “You see my predicament. If you can find somebody who isn’t Uncle Henry, I’ll rip them off.” – Ram Dass राम राम राम I AM THE ONE I AM SHIVA 🕺🏿💃🏿♾💃🏿🕺🏿☝🏿 This is the only dance there is ✊🏿🖤☮️🖤✊🏿 It’s all One 1967 FOREVER ETERNITY NOW!!! His giggle was from the plane that gives us the term “lila,” the divine dance of life.” – Ram Dass राम राम राम I AM THE ONE I AM SHIVA 🕺🏿💃🏿♾💃🏿🕺🏿☝🏿 This is the only dance there is ✊🏿🖤☮️🖤✊🏿 It’s all One 1967 FOREVER ETERNITY NOW!!! Be Here Now under Maharajji’s blanket as Jason returns to the show. We discuss the divisions in America, politics, media, seeing through the BS, humor as communication and more. We relate all of it to our spiritual awakening. He knows that what seems so hard to them is from another perspective their own path to liberation.” - Ram Dass राम राम राम I AM THE ONE I AM SHIVA 🕺🏿💃🏿♾💃🏿🕺🏿☝🏿 This is the only dance there is ✊🏿🖤☮️🖤✊🏿 It’s all One 1967 FOREVER ETERNITY NOW!!! We discuss astral beings, imaginary friends, insanity, infinity, Stanislav Grof, consciousness, spiritual emergencies, and more. All of the topics are related to our spiritual awakening. “It seems like a sort of strange path in the West, but my path involves my relationship to Maharajji, Neem Karoli Baba. The way I do that is that I just hang out with him all the time. I have an imaginary playmate in a way, I mean, he’s dead. He dropped his body, yet he seems so alive to me, because I have invested that form in my mind as an emotional connection to that deeper truth. Because for me, Maharajji is the cosmic giggle. He is the wisdom that transcends time and space.“ - Ram Dass Marcus has been creative all of his life. Be Here Now under Maharajji’s blanket as Hunter and Baba Here Love discuss grieving, the divine mother and more. We relate all we discuss to our spiritual awakening. “At one point Maharaji said, “See everything as the Mother and you will know God.” What was he talking about? seeing your mother in everything? We, Westerners. Have our share of relationship complexities with our mothers. With interpretations galore courtesy of Dr. Freud. The view of the mother in India is different. The country is called Mother India. A Western devotee once told Maharaji he hated his mother. And nobody understood what he was saying. The concept didn’t make it across the cultural barrier. In India the mother is so deeply respected and revered, there was no way that statement could be understood. There is an Indian saying that there may be bad children. But there are no bad mothers. The Divine Mother, the Goddess, has many dimensions. In the broadest sense consciousness and energy. Eternal spirit and matter are male and female. Out of the One in the first glimmer of duality comes Purusha. The formless spirit. Prakriti, the cosmic energy that coalesces into form. As God and Goddess. They are Shiva. Who personifies pure absolute consciousness and the seed of procreation, and Shakti. Who manifests infinite forms.” - Ram Dass राम राम राम RAMA RAMA RAMA
