Matt competed at the Olympics for Team USA in 1984, 1988, and 1992 and was a mainstay in the international swim scene during the entirety of his college and professional career. Matt grew up in the small town of Moraga, California in the San Fransisco Bay Area and started swimming at the age of 5. Despite starting at such a young age, Matt did not start training and competing year-round until he was 15 years old and he believes that focusing on other sports and hobbies when he was young only intensified his love for swimming as he got older. Daniel Krueger grew up in McFarland, Wisconsin where he quickly became one of the top age-group swimmers in the country. As a senior in high school Daniel was ranked as the #4 recruit in the class of 2018 and ultimately chose to take his talents to the University of Texas. Since starting at Texas in the fall of 2018 Daniel has become one of the top sprinters in the country, winning numerous Big XII Swimming Titles as well as being named All-American in multiple events. Currently Daniel is a Junior at the University of Texas and has his sights set on Olympic Trials 2021 where he hopes to perform well enough to qualify for his first Olympic team. John Naber has quite the resume in the world of swimming. From swimmer to ambassador to writer to motivational speaker to broadcaster to member of the Olympic Organizing Committee, John has done it all! In 1976 at the Summer Olympics in Montreal, John won 5 medals (4 gold, 1 silver) to become the most decorated Olympian from those games. Within those 5 medal-winning swims, John also came away with multiple world records that would stand for nearly 8 years! Jack Roach is no doubt one of the greatest coaches of all-time in the sport of swimming and his trajectory to get to this point has been unique, crazy, inspiring, and unbelievable! Jack swam one semester in college, then went off to fight in Vietnam only to come back to give college another try. From riding his bike 20 miles (both ways) to his lifeguarding jobs in South Florida, sailing around the Bahamas for four years and becoming one of the most respected club, college and national level coaches the sport has known, Jack has done it all. We were so grateful to be able to talk with him and hear about his incredible life story and some of his biggest takeaways from a life well lived. Gary Hall Jr. is one of the greatest and most decorated sprinters in the history of the sport. After swimming one year at the University of Texas, Gary decided it was time to turn pro and train on his own. Gary competed in three Olympic Games and is the owner of 10 Olympic Medals and numerous awards, including being a member of the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame. Gary adopted his own unique training style where he included boxing movements as part of his regimen and oftentimes would march out to races in boxing shorts and a robe to intimidate the competition. Elizabeth swam collegiately in Florida where she won multiple national and conference titles during her career as a Gator. Brendan had an illustrious career at the University of Texas winning the 100 and 200 breaststrokes at NCAA's all four years of college, becoming the first swimmer to ever accomplish that feat. Brendan then went on to represent the United States at 3 Olympic Games, winning numerous medals and breaking world record after world-record along the way. Following his retirement in 2012, Brendan worked in the corporate world for a short time before returning to his roots and becoming a coach at Austin Swim Club where he coached numerous swimmers to national-level meets. Anthony has one of the most unique swimming journeys of all time in that he went 16 years between winning his Olympic Gold Medals! 16 YEARS! This week we are honored to welcome the first coach to the Ultimate Swimmer Podcast, Eddie Reese! Eddie Reese is the most decorated swim coach in history with 14 NCAA National Championship Team Titles. Eddie started his coaching career at Roswell High School in New Mexico. One year later he accepted an assistant coaching job with his alma mater at the University of Florida, where he spent six seasons before heading to Auburn where he was head coach for another six seasons. After Auburn, Eddie took the job at Texas and the rest is history. Eddie has been the head coach for the Texas Longhorns since 1978 and considered not only one of the greatest swim coaches ever, but one of the greatest coaches in any sport. Eddie’s leadership, positivity, and commitment to his athletes have allowed him to produce some of the world's fastest swimmers, including 39 Olympic Gold Medals! Kristy Kowal is one of the greatest breaststrokers in American history. She competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia and took home a silver medal in the 200 Breaststroke. Kristy also was the first American woman to win a world championship title in the 100-meter breaststroke in 1998. A University of Georgia graduate and two-time NCAA Swimmer of the Year (1999, 2000), Kristy was also the first woman in history to break the 1-minute barrier in the short course yards 100 breaststroke. Kristy’s story is inspiring and we had a blast getting to talk with her about her experiences on her journey to becoming an Ultimate Swimmer!

Ella Eastin is currently a member of Team USA and was top recruit out of high school in 2015. Ella was a multi-time NCAA Champion as a Stanford Cardinal from 2016-2019 and became the first woman to win the 400 IM at the NCAA Championships four years in a row. For her phenomenal performance at the 2018 NCAA Championships, Ella was named Female Swimmer of the Year. Post-grad, Ella has competed internationally for the team USA at the 2018 Pan-Pacific Championships as well as the 2019 World University Games and 2019 World Championships.
