So, what is a religion in the first place? Are there things about Christianity that make it different to other religions, faiths or philosophies? Would every religion say that theirs is unique and special?

A listener asks "How is the violence in the Old Testament any different from the Taliban?" At the time of recording, we have seen the Taliban take over control in Afghanistan, and there is evidence of religiously motivated violence.
When someone reads the bible - in particular the Old Testament, there appear to be stories that look very similar - violence in the name of God, and even violence used by God. How does this square with the picture of Jesus who was non-violent? What does it say about who God is?
