Episode 3 "The Eagle and The Sceptre" Synopsis

Though Isildur is presumed dead in the eruption of Mount Doom, his horse Berek finds him alive in a nest of giant spiders and helps him escape.

On his way to Pelargir, an old Númenórean colony, Isildur comes across a young woman named Estrid who secretly bears Adar's brand. They are attacked by Wild Men who steal Berek, and are saved by the Elf Arondir who is grieving the loss of Bronwyn, the woman he loved.

Bronwyn's son, Theo, dismisses Arondir's attempts to comfort him and offers to help Isildur steal Berek back. As they are doing this, Theo and the Wild Men are captured by something unknown.

In Númenor, Isildur's sister Eärien causes outrage when she reveals that Queen Regent Míriel has been using an Elvish palantír (crystal ball). A Great Eagle arrives at Míriel's coronation—following the death of her father, King Tar-Palantir—and Lord Belzagar, a supporter of Míriel's cousin Pharazôn, claims that this is a sign of support for Pharazôn.

Back in Eregion, Celebrimbor and Annatar ask the Dwarves for mithril so they can make more Rings of Power. King Durin III provides it, despite Durin IV's distrust of Annatar.

Episode 4 “Eldest” Synopsis

Elrond and Galadriel set out for Eregion. They come to a bridge that has been destroyed by lightning and are forced to take a more dangerous path.

Meanwhile in the lands of Rhun, The Stranger meets a mysterious man named Tom Bombadil while Nori and Poppy find a community of halflings called Stoors. They learn that the Harfoots are descended from a Stoor who left Rhûn in search of the Sûzat, a place of green hills that he dreamed could be the home of halflings.

Back in Pelargir, Arondir deduces that Estrid is one of the Wild Men. She earns back Isildur's trust when he and Arondir are sucked into a mud pit inhabited by a nameless creature and she helps free them. They are confronted by two Ents who captured Theo and the Wild Men in retribution for the felling of trees by Adar's army of Orcs. Arondir promises to protect the forest and the Ents free their prisoners; one of the Wild Men is Hagen, Estrid's betrothed.

As the Elves continue their journey to Eregion they fight off Barrow-wights in the Barrow Lands and Elrond and Galadriel find Adar's army. Galadriel gives her ring to Elrond and tells him to return to Lindon to warn High King Gil-galad. Galadriel stays to hold off the Orcs and allow the rest of the elves to escape but is captured by Adar.

John and Derek return to Middle Earth to discuss The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 Episodes 1 and 2. As both episodes were released on Prime Video together we will be spoiling everything about these in this discussion.

The Rings Of Power Season 2 Episode 1 and 2 Details

Season 2 Episode 1 "Elven Kings Under The Sky"

Episode Written by Gennifer Hutchison

Episode Directed by Charlotte Brändström

Season 2 Episode 2 “Where The Stars Are Strange”

Episode directed by Charlotte Brändström and Louise Hooper

Episode written by Jason Cahill

Series showrunners J. D. Payne and Patrick McKay

Episode 1 "Elven Kings Under The Sky" Synopsis

At the dawn of the Second Age, the Dark Lord Sauron is seemingly killed by an army of Orcs and their leader, Adar, but his spirit endures and forms a new body over thousands of years.

Taking the name "Halbrand", he helps the Elves forge three Rings of Power before his identity is revealed.

High King Gil-galad believes they have no choice but to use the rings against Sauron while his herald, Elrond, objects.

Elrond escapes with the rings and takes them to Círdan, the oldest and wisest Elf in Middle-earth, who agrees to help until he sees the power of the rings and believes them to be true perfection.

Círdan, Galadriel, and Gil-galad put them on and the power of the Elves is restored.

The Stranger—a Wizard who is regaining his memories—and the Harfoot Nori Brandyfoot get lost on their way to the land of Rhûn. They are followed by Nori's friend Poppy Proudfellow, who brings Harfoot maps to help them find their way.

In Mordor, Halbrand is brought to Adar and reveals that Sauron has returned. He offers to go to Eregion—the Elven realm where the rings were forged—to gain their confidence and find Sauron's location while Adar raises his army for an assault on him.

Episode 2 “Where The Stars Are Strange” Synopsis

The ongoing eruption of Mount Doom causes an earthquake in the Dwarven realm of Khazad-dûm that destroys their infrastructure and leads to the withering of their crops. King Durin III and his son, Prince Durin IV, refuse to reconcile despite the crisis.

Galadriel has a vision of Celebrimbor's death and asks to meet him in Eregion to offer her protection from the threat of Sauron. Gil-galad agrees if Elrond leads her company, and Círdan convinces the reluctant Elrond that it would be better for him to guide his friends rather than abandon them.

In Rhûn, a Dark Wizard sends a group of riders to capture the Stranger. Finding a staff that he recognizes from his dreams, the Stranger summons a sandstorm which drives the riders off. He loses control and the storm sweeps Nori and Poppy away.

Meanwhile Sauron poses as Halbrand once again at the gates of Eregion and refuses to leave. Though he promised Galadriel he would never talk to Halbrand again, Celebrimbor does not know he is Sauron and eventually approaches him. Halbrand convinces Celebrimbor that he is Annatar, the "Lord of Gifts", an emissary from the Valar who has come to help make Rings of Power for Dwarves and Men.

But she and another captive, called Kayleigh, are saved by a bandit group known as the Rats that Kayleigh is a member of. Good Omens 202 The Clue Podcast04 Aug 202300:56:09

John and his own ineffable fiancé Derek return for our weekly coverage of Good Omens Season 2 with Episode 2 "The Clue".

Another great fun tale featuring a comedic take on the trials of Job.

Based on the book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen we’re discussing each of the six episodes of this series one a week. This is our spoiler filled discussion so as always make sure you’ve watched the episode before listening to the podcast.

Good Omens 202 “The Clue” synopsis

In 2500 BCE in the Land of Uz, Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) arrives to stop Crowley (David Tennant) from bestowing the nicest guy in the world, Job (Peter Davidson), horrific disasters to befall him, including his herd of goats. He learns that Crowley is there by permission of The Almighty (Frances McDormand) and the trials are intended to test Job’s faith as a bet between God and Satan.

Aziraphale, feeling pity for him, is horrified by the prospect of heaven and hell destroying Job's children, and after some convincing he and Crowley trick the angels into thinking that Job's children are dead, although hidden in lizard form.

When the Archangels reveal the tests to Job and reward him with double his losses, Crowley and Aziraphale hatch a plan. Crowley disguised as Uzu the Sihite, a professional midwife and cobbler, pretends to extract Job’s wife, Siti’s (Andi Osho), ribs to kid, while transforming his actual children from lizard form. Aziraphale confirms that all birthing was in accordance with how it happened in the Garden of Eden and that the children are in fact new replacements. But Aziraphale feels great guilt for thwarting the will of God, and wonders if he did the right thing.

In the present, Jim, short for James, short for Gabriel (Jon Hamm), seems to be enjoying his job as bookshop assistant so much he begins singing the Buddy Holly hit Everyday. Could this be The Clue to Gabriel’s amnesia?

Meanwhile, Michael (Doon Mackichan), Uriel (Gloria Obianyo), and Saraqael (Liz Carr) arrive in Soho upon tracing the miracle to the bookshop. However, due to the miracle Aziraphale and Crowley performed, they cannot recognize Gabriel, and leave, still suspicious of Aziraphale, who assures the assembled hosts that the miracle was for love between Maggie (Maggie Service) and Nina (Nina Sosanya).

As Shax (Miranda Richardson) offers to drop the hostility towards Crowley in exchange for the information on where Gabriel is; while Aziraphale commandeers Crowley’s wheels to embark on a road trip to The Resurrectionists, a pub at 66 Goat Gate in Edinburgh to investigate his brand new Clue leaving an exasperated Crowley to watch over the bookshop and Gabriel.

Despite his discomfort at the surroundings and the company, Yennefer and Geralt step out arm-in-arm and dressed-to-kill at a lavish ball. But all is not as it appears during the evening of gossip, spiked drinks, revelry and revelation. Geralt tries very hard to socialise and avoid the revelling sorcerers. His patience is pushed by Dijkstra, Phillipa and Stregabour during the evening and Yennefer has to remind him they need to lie low in order to expose Stregobor as the dark mage during the conclave the following day.

However, their plans change when Yennefer is alerted by Istredd and Triss about Stregobor's possession of the Book of Monoliths. Geralt and Istredd pretend a fight to cover for Yennefer as she breaks into Stregobor's study where they discover the book, as well as apparent evidence of kidnapping half-elven students.

Stregobor is arrested in his study by Tissaia, Vilgefortz and Artorius, and the banquet is deemed a diplomatic success. Once Yennefer and Geralt put all the pieces of the night together, however, they realise the mastermind behind Rience's actions and the kidnappings is Vilgefortz who only framed Stregobor.

Scouting the halls to find Vilgefortz, Geralt is distracted by sounds of a distant fight and is ambushed at knife-point by Dijkstra, as he enacts his plan to purge the Brotherhood of Sorcerers.

Good Omens 201 The Arrival Podcast29 Jul 202300:51:08

The end of the world is nigh once again as we return for Good Omens Season 2 Chapter 1 "The Arrival".

Based on the book Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman and starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen we’ll be discussing each of the six episodes of this series one by one. This is our spoiler filled discussion so as always make sure you’ve watched the episode before listening to the podcast.

Good Omens 201 “The Arrival” synopsis

After averting the apocalypse, Crowley (David Tennant) and Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) are on the outs with heaven and hell.

Crowley is living in his car, feeling aimless and just very bored, even his interactions with his replacement, Shax (Miranda Richardson), the new high representative of hell in London are a struggle. As Shax gets to grips with her role she is so confused about why being a demon on earth is so easy and why the humans keep inflicting evil, horrible stuff to each other. But Shax hears something juicy on the heaven-hell grapevine (which definitely doesn't exist) is awash with rumours that there's something going down in the UP.

Meanwhile at A Z Fell and Co bookshop in Soho Aziraphale is relaxing to a new record he bought from Maggie (Maggie Service) in the vinyl shop across the road and forgiving her rent arrears. Relaxing into Shostakovich, he is disturbed when a very confused and very naked Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm), holding a box, walks through the street straight to his shop. He doesn't know who he, where he is or who Aziraphale is, but he knows that Aziraphale will keep him safe and stop the “bad thing”, that he doesn’t know what it is, from happening.

Slightly panicked about what is going on, Aziraphale calls the only one he knows that can help, Crowley, who is far from happy to help Gabriel. Crowley has no inclination to help Gabriel, suggesting they leave him on Dartmoor and he refuses to help his friend, leaving to go back to his car. While away, Crowley is called on by Beelzeebub who will return Crowley to hell if he brings Gabriel to him. Beelzebub also informs him that Extreme Sanctions will be used by heaven against anyone harbouring Gabriel from them. Crowley returns immediately to Aziraphale to help him and admits with a little dance that he was wrong and Aziraphale was right. Together the two perform a very minor half a miracle to hide Gabriel, now named James/Jim from everyone's sight.

But the miracle isn't minor enough and with klaxons blaring and red lights flashing in heaven it attracts the attention of Michael (Doon Mackichan) and the other angels to a little bookshop in Soho.

Gravik refuses before using the Harvest vial to empower himself further with superpowers and attempt to kill Fury in the process. Only he learns that The Nick Fury he has met with is a disguised G'iah, ready to get revenge on him for the murder of her parents. She has also received the power of the Avengers from the Harvest, and the two fight, using the various powers of many superpowered beings incorporated into their DNA. But in the aftermath, Ritson gives a hateful speech against the Skrulls and issues a new bill declaring all off-world species as hostile forces. He threatens to hunt down the remaining Skrulls on Earth, causing unrest as civilians publicly murder various high-profile officials for fear that they are Skrulls.

Meanwhile, Sonia Falsworth meets with G'iah and proposes a partnership to protect the Skrulls against Ritson's bill. While, after cautioning President Ritson about the unrest he caused, Fury asks Varra to come to S.A.B.E.R. with him to help negotiate on behalf of the Skrulls at a peace summit with the Kree. Following the murder of Talos, Fury brings US President Ritson to the hospital. He tries to guard him but Rhodey and his team arrives to take over. He drives Fury away by releasing a video showing him killing former S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Maria Hill.

Fury returns to his hideout in Brixton where he meets G’iah. She’s looking to bury her father so Fury sends her to his home where his wife Priscilla will take care of the ceremony. He explains that Talos didn’t lose, he chose the path of struggle but now it’s her time. And with her new powers she can take on Gravik. But he needs to go to Finland.

Meanwhile Gravik’s plan hasn’t worked out the way he wanted to. When Pagon challenges him he’s killed and Gravik tells the rest of his lieutenants they have no voice and shouldn’t question his plans. They attempt to overthrow Gravik but with his own Super Skrull abilities he kills them all.

Gravik reaches out to Skrull Rodey to enact a new plan. He is to convince the US President to destroy New Skrullos dropping bombs in Russia. But it’s a ruse to convince Fury to hand over the DNA of all of earth’s mightiest heroes to him. He also sends his troops to execute Priscilla for her failure to murder Fury.

After giving her father a traditional Skrull send off, G’iah helps Priscilla survive the attack on her life and Priscilla drops her off to her next mission.

Following a plane ride to Finland, piloted by the ever resourceful smuggler Rick Mason, Fury reunites with Sonya Folsworth. She learns Rodey is a Skrull aligned with Gravik and that Fury’s personal connection to the Skrulls means he doesn’t want any innocent members of their species to die.

He retrieves the vial from his grave and all of his equipment telling Sonya he’s going to trade with Gravik to save the planet. He makes one final call and tells his contact “It’s Time! Let’s finish this''.

Geralt and Jaskier resolve to go to Aretuza leaving Teryn with the couple.

Meanwhile, after deciding Ciri needs better instruction to become the leader she believes she should be, Yennifer has to also change herself to be allowed back into the Brotherhood of mages. Unhappy with being treated like a servant by the mages from Aretuza, Ciri steals a horse and runs to find Garalt.

But on the journey the spectral forms of The Wild Hunt bleed through to The Continent searching for Ciri but Geralt drives them away.

Up in the Northern kingdom’s Rodanian intelligence make a big play to get King Vizimir back in line. With Queen Hedwig conducting secret meetings with Nilfgaard without the permission of Dijkstra and Phillipa, they have Queen’s head served to their boss in a box blaming Nilfgaard for her murder.

Back in Nilfgaard the elf Gallitan brings Cahir to Emperor Emhyr and tells him of Francesca’s plan to capture Ciri. He wants support to overthrow Francesca and get back on his mission to take the Northern territories. Directed again by Gandja Monteiro

Synopsis: Aboard a ship to Aretuza, Geralt, Ciri, Jaskier and the rest of the crew are attacked by an Aeschna which Geralt and Ciri team up and kill.

At Aretuza, in spite of opposition from Stregobor and Artorius Vigo, Yennefer convinces the Brotherhood of Sorcerers to host a conclave for mages to strengthen the unity of the North against Nilfgaard, and later, she visits the Redanian court in person to invite Philippa Eilhart and try to win the support of King Vizimir who orders not only Philippa, but Dijkstra and Prince Radovid to attend as well.

On her way back through the portal to Aretuza, Yennefer is ambushed by a creature that looks like Geralt but she manages to escape.

Upon reaching Franscesca and the Scoia'tael, Cahir persuades her to join forces in their search for Ciri on behalf of Emperor Emhyr. Although Emhyr believes the former mage of Nilfgaard Fringilla is dead, she has escaped and is enjoying her new found freedom in a local tavern. There she learns about the conclave of the brotherhood of mages.

Meanwhile, Triss and Istredd investigate the missing Aretuzan novices and the Book of Monoliths, and, similar to Yennefer and Geralt, they arrive at the conclusion that Stregobor is the mastermind behind those events, and is the mage behind Rience's actions.

Ciri, with Jaskier babysitting, are kept in a safe haven away from Aretuza; Radovid tracks Jaskier down and they kiss; just as. Geralt, Yennefer, and the Northern mages gather at Aretuza to begin the conclave with a spectacular ball.

Episode 1 - Shaerrawedd

Written by Mike Ostrowski

Directed by Stephen Surjik

Synopsis: Having left Kaer Morhen, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri are on the run from the fire mage Rience while continuing Ciri's training as a witcher and a mage. Elsewhere on the Continent, other groups have designs on Ciri. The Elven Queen Francesca Findabair seeks Ciri whom they see as the destined saviour of the elves, but her obsession increasingly puts her at odds with the eleven troops known as Scoia'tael.

While in Redania, King Vizimir is disillusioned with his spymaster Sigismund Djikstra and sorceress Philippa Eilhart's failure to capture Ciri whom he intended to marry; so he entrusts the task to his brother Prince Radovid.

After six months running from village to town to hamlet, they finally settle down in a home provided by Yarpen Zigrin. After months of hiding and training, Ciri, Geralt and Yennifer go to the local village for the Beltane festival to escape the confinements of training, but are attacked by a Jackapace monster, orchestrated by Rience.

The group take down the Jackapace and realise that they must once again move on. But tired of running, the three decide to lure Rience into a trap. They need a trusted friend, Jaskier, to be the bait after rumours are spread by Yarpen of Ciri’s departure.

They track down Jaskier asking him to help Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri with their plan, but they are unaware that Jaskier has been in secret contact with Philippa and Prince Radovid about persuading Ciri to go to Redania.

At the elven ruins of Shaerrawedd, they are confronted by Rience and the elven Scoia'tael and a battle ensues. Rience’s and the elven forces are held off with Francesca’s brother killed in the encounter. As Rience escapes his defeat via a dark portal, Yennefer feels the presence of dark magic and believes that powerful dark mage is the mastermind behind Rience. With no other options she suggests the last place they should seek help, Aretuza.

Episode 2 - Unbound

Written by Tania Lotia

Directed again by Stephen Surjik

With Geralt separated from Ciri and Yennefer in search of Rience and his master, he along with Jaskier, head to Codringher and Fenn, a law firm and detective agency, for help in his quest they hint at the involvement of the mage Istridd, who is also looking for Ciri. Geralt heads to Vuilpanne a castle where he might discover vital details about the sorcerer in charge of Rience.

Jaskier continues to gather information about Rience. In his desire to help Ciri, he shares Geralt’s encounters with the wrong people, Dijaski and Philippa, who in turn are trying to persuade Jaskier to hand over Ciri to them. Their plan involves Prince Radovid, Vizimir’s charming brother. To win Geralt’s confidence, Jaskier asks Prince Radovid to pay Codringher and Fenn in exchange for details regarding Rience; however, his interaction with Prince Radovid seems to have left Prince Radovid smitten with The Dandelion.

Meanwhile, Yennefer and Ciri make their way to Aretuza, but along the way Ciri’s increasingly unsettling visions and her efforts to change the course of events cause problems between her and Yennifer. To maintain a low profile, Yen makes the decision to purchase an immediate portal towards Aretuza from Keira, her old friend. But they have no choice but to flee and travel the long way to Aretuza after a vision causes Ciri to release a dwarf held captive, because of the bleak future she foresaw. On the road to Arteuza, Yen and Ciri continue to argue and Yen opts for a diversion to teach Ciri important lessons about the possible repercussions of interfering with fate.

Geralt arrives in Vuilpanne to find a creepy den with a horrifying scene of three heads extending from fleshy stalks in the walls. In a cocoon of webbing, a distraught girl rants about a nocturnal visitor. He releases the girl, and no sooner a hideous Thing-like creature made up of the bodies of its victims attacks him. Geralt battles the monster, killing it and saving the young blond haired, green-eyed lady.

He takes her away from the dungeon and Geralt makes an effort to talk to her, only she already knows his name and explains she knew he’d come to save her as she is Ciri.

Former CIA agent Everett Ross meets a contact, Agent Prescod, in Moscow, where Prescod shares his theory that multiple coordinated terrorist attacks point to an infiltration of a secret force of shape shifting Skrulls across the planet.

Ross kills the operative and escapes with the information. When he realises he's being pursued he calls Maria Hill for an extraction. But as the pursuit intensifies, Everett Ross falls to his death in front of Maria. But as his body transforms to its original Skrull form, his pursuer reveals himself as Nick Fury's close Skrull friend Talos.

Nick Fury returns to earth from his mission setting up the planet's defence system S.A.B.E.R. Talos tells him all about the new Skrull threat, a young Skrull Gravik, disillusioned by Nick Fury's failure to provide the Skrull refugees with a new home. His methods to build a new Skrull homeland on earth are extreme and violent with the intention to start a war between countries. Gravik has been calling other Skrulls to his cause at his base, New Skrullos, in an abandoned nuclear facility where he is planning his next strike against Moscow.

Using his contact in MI6, Sonya Falsworth, Nick learns of a bomb maker in Moscow who is working with the Skrulls. Fury and Talos confront the bomb maker and learn of the plot to set up three explosions around a central square in Moscow which will plunge the planet into another Cold War.

Talos meets his daughter G'iah who has joined the renegade Skrull forces under the leadership of Gravik. He pleads with his daughter to help Fury stop the bomb and G'iah agrees to mark the bombs so they can be tracked.

Fury, Maria Hill and Talos converge on the bombers thanks, seemingly to the tracers placed by G'iah, but their backpacks are empty. As the bombs go off and chaos erupts, Maria is shot by a Skrull who takes the face of Nick Fury to trap her. Searching for her murderer Fury is faced by Gravick as he makes his escape.

Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Review03 Jun 202301:21:26

We are back in the cinema for our animated adventure Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Review. The second part in the Spider-Verse trilogy we loved the style, characters and heart. We discuss all of our favourite moments from the movie in our latest podcast.

Synopsis for our Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse Review

Characters created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko

Written by: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Dave Callaham

Directed by: Joaquim Dos Santos and Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson

Sixteen months after the destruction of the Alchemax collider and back on Earth-65 Gwen Stacy is struggling to live up to the expectations of her father, who does not know she is Spider-Woman and is hunting her in revenge because of his belief that she caused this universe's Peter Parker's death.

One night, after hearing about a possible intruder in the Guggenheim Museum, she heads over to confront the threat, only to run into a Renaissance-themed Vulture that comes from an alternate universe. She is helped by Miguel O'Hara and Jessica Drew, who arrive through portals and subdue Vulture. In the aftermath, Gwen reveals herself to her father, who is distraught and attempts to arrest her. Drew suggests to a reluctant O'Hara that Gwen join the "Spider-Society," to which he begrudgingly accepts.

Back on Earth-1610, in Brooklyn, Miles Morales is adapting to being Spider-Man as well as struggling to live up to his parents' expectations while missing Gwen. On the day of his evaluation at school with his parents, he visits a convenience store where he encounters the low-level villain The Spot, a scientist who got infused with portals on his body in the aftermath of the explosion of the collider at Alchemax. After a brief fight, Miles subdues The Spot.

But The Spot, who is being surveilled by Gwen, is not all that he appears as he blames Miles for his creation. He brings Miles to Alchemax, where he transports himself into a void and begins using his portals to travel to other universes with the Alchemax collider becoming more and more powerful as he states his aim to take revenge on his nemesis Miles Morales.

While on Earth-1610 Gwen sees Miles but tracking The Spot is instructed that Miles can’t travel with them to capture The Spot. They take a portal back to Earth-928 where they lead the Spider Society to continue their investigation. But unbeknownst to them, Miles follows them into the portal and ends up in Mumbattan on Earth-50101, they encounter Pavitr Prabhakar / Spider-Man India and Hobie Brown / Spider-Punk before confronting The Spot in the Alchemax collider who successfully absorbs the device's power before escaping.

Mumbattan begins falling apart from the disruption of a "canon event" after Miles saves a captain, who turns out to be Prabhakar's girlfriend's father. At the headquarters on Earth-928, where hundreds of Spider-Man variants reside Miguel O'Hara, tells Miles that he is risking the destruction of the multiverse, by preventing "canon" events that hold the fabric of the multiverse together, and that all Spider-Men must suffer sacrifices to maintain a stable multiverse.

Realising that his own father, newly appointed as captain, will die at the hands of The Spot and is a canon event, Miles breaks free of the Spider Society, heading back to his home world to save his father. Arriving back in what he thinks is his apartment, Miles realises that something is not right about this Earth that places him and his father in dire straits.

Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3 Review12 May 202302:03:41

We return to the cinema with The Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3, the thirty second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The final movie in the trilogy and James Gunn's final movie for Marvel before he moves to the Distinguished Competition. We chat all about the movie in our latest podcast.

Synopsis for our Guardians of The Galaxy Volume 3 Movie Review

with the help of Wikipedia

Written and Directed by: James Gunn

At their new headquarters on Knowhere, the Guardians of the Galaxy are attacked by Adam Warlock, a Sovereign warrior created by their high priestess Ayesha. After Adam overpowers them and seriously wounds Rocket, he is stabbed by Nebula and forced to flee. The Guardians are unable to tend to Rocket's wounds due to a kill switch, made by the company Orgocorp, embedded in him. To save their friend the Guardians travel to Orgocorp's headquarters to find the override code.

As Rocket lies unconscious, he recalls his past. As a baby raccoon, he was experimented on by the High Evolutionary, a scientist who sought to enhance animal lifeforms into anthropomorphic species to create a "Perfect" Counter-Earth. Rocket befriended the other test subjects: an otter called Lylla, the walrus Teefs, and the rabbit named Floor. Of all the test subjects the High Evolutionary was impressed by Rocket's intelligence but furious when it exceeded his own. Perfecting the anthropomorphization process with Rocket's advice he orders Rocket's brain to be extracted and his friends incinerated. Rocket, realising he and his friends were not part of the High Evolutionary’s perfect world, frees himself and his friends, but Lylla, Reefs and Floor but are killed in the escape by the High Evolutionary.

Rocket, enraged, mauls the High Evolutionary and shoots his guards, as he makes his solitary escape in a spaceship.

In the present, the alternate version of Gamora, who has joined the Ravagers, helps the Guardians infiltrate Orgocorp, which is owned by the High Evolutionary. They retrieve Rocket's file, but discover that the code has been removed. The group speculates that Theel, one of the High Evolutionary's recorders, has it, so they depart for Counter-Earth. They are followed by Ayesha and Adam, who are ordered by their creator, the High Evolutionary, to retrieve Rocket for his brain.

Upon arriving on Counter Earth, the team is helped by residents in tracing Theel to the High Evolutionary's ship. Drax and Mantis remain with Gamora and Rocket as Peter Quill, Groot, and Nebula travel to the ship. Nebula is forced to wait outside by guards as Quill and Groot board. Drax and Mantis chase after Quill's group.

The High Evolutionary initiates his destruction and planned recreation of Counter-Earth, which kills all life on the planet, including Ayesha. As his ship enters orbit, Quill and Groot leap off with Theel, retrieving the code from him. Gamora arrives with their ship to rescue them, while Nebula, Mantis, and Drax board the High Evolutionary's ship to rescue the now-absent Quill and Groot. As Quill's group attempts to access the code, Rocket flatlines and has a near death experience, where he sees Lylla, Teefs, and Floor. Lylla tells him that his time has not yet come as Quill uses the code to disable the kill switch and save Rocket's life.

Nebula, Mantis, and Drax come across hundreds of imprisoned humanoid children on the High Evolutionary's ship before being captured. Quill's group sets out to rescue the three, who are placed in a chamber with monstrous Abilisks. Mantis befriends the Abilisks, allowing the group to escape and reunite with Quill's group, together overpowering the High Evolutionary's army. Kraglin and Cosmo arrive on Knowhere, and Cosmo creates a telekinetic tunnel connecting Knowhere to the High Evolutionary's ship to free the captured children. Rocket discovers imprisoned animals on the ship before being attacked by the High Evolutionary, but the rest of the Guardians help subdue him, leaving him to perish on his ship. The Guardians rescue the animals and lead them aboard Knowhere. Quill nearly dies trying to cross over but is saved by Adam, who had a change of heart after being saved by Groot.

In the aftermath, Quill leaves the Guardians, bestowing the captaincy to Rocket before leaving for Earth to reunite with his grandfather Jason. Mantis embarks on a journey of self-discovery with the Abilisks, Gamora reunites with the Ravagers, and Nebula and Drax remain on Knowhere to raise the rescued children.

In a mid-credits scene, the new Guardians, consisting of Rocket, a fully-grown Groot, Cosmo, Kraglin, Adam, Phyla-Vell (one of the rescued children), and Adam's pet Blurp, take on a new mission. In a post-credits scene, Quill eats breakfast with his grandfather Jason.

Hunter heads out on the Marauder and manages to rescue Omega and Lyana from the tsunami just in time, while Tech and Wrecker help Phee and Shep to evacuate the population of Lower Pabu to safety before the destructive wave hits and floods the lower city.

The Bad Batch 212 "The Outpost" Synopsis

Series Created by: Jennifer CorbettDave Filoni, Brad Rau

Episode Written by: Jennifer Corbett

Story Editor: Matt Michnovetz

Episode Directed By: Nathaniel Villanueva

Crosshair is ordered on a mission by the obnoxious and clone-hating Lieutenant Nolan to recover cargo from an Imperial supply depot under attack by local insurgents on the ice-planet of Barton-4. Arriving at the depot it soon becomes apparent that the clone troopers guarding the cargo are severely depleted, with only three troopers remaining.

Commander Mayday’s smile at the arrival of his relief soon disappears when he meets Lt. Nolan, who has no sympathy for Mayday’s predicament. As they prepare to secure the base and transport the supplies off-world the insurgents attack, taking with them two supply crates and in the process killing off Mayday’s remaining troopers Hexx and Veetch.

But Lt Nolan blames the clones for the attack, ordering only Mayday and Crosshair to recover the supplies. Tracking the insurgents, Crosshair finds out that Cdr Mayday is disillusioned with the new Empire that has combat troopers babysitting cargo.

The two troopers recover the supplies but are caught in an avalanche at the insurgent’s mountain base. Mayday is badly injured, but Crosshair manages to carry him back to the Imperial base, where Stormtroopers are loading their new combat armour to take off-planet.

Crosshair requests urgent medical attention for Mayday but is denied by Lieutenant Nolan, and Mayday dies from his injuries. Nolan considers it no loss as in his eyes all clones are a waste of resources and expendable under the new Empire. Hearing this Crosshair shoots his superior officer dead before passing out.

Slowly waking up Crosshair finds himself in a laboratory on Tantis, with Hemlock’s research assistant looking over him warning him that if he cooperates he may survive.

Episode Written by: Sabir Pirzada

Story Editor: Matt Michnovetz

Episode Directed By: Saul Ruiz

Still annoyed after being stranded by Cid on the mining planet and thinking about finally breaking ties with their unreliable employer, the Bad Batch nonetheless grudgingly head off on a mission from Cid after hearing of a downed ship of cargo ripe for the taking.

Elsewhere on the planet of Tantis, Doctor Hemlock arrives at an Imperial facility where Nala Se, imprisoned following the destruction of Kamino, fails to be persuaded to help Hemlock continue her cloning research. Her refusal to serve the Emperor forces Hemlock to consider other avenues to force her to help.

More bad news piles on Dr Hemlock as his assistant informs him that research Transport 904 has failed to arrive on Tantis. Hemlock orders the recovery of the asset as a matter of urgency.

The Bad Batch arrive at the Transport only to realise that something terrible had befallen the ship and its crew. As they attempt to collect the cargo and restore power a strange beast attacks them seemingly fixated on feeding off pure energy, which accelerates its growth.

Escaping the transport the beast feeds off a nearby town’s power supply and only then does Hunter realise the creature is a Zillo Beast similar to the one that attacked Consurant during the Clone Wars. While Tech and Omega obtain highly classified files from the Imperial ship showing the Zillo Beast was cloned on the orders of the then Chancellor Palpatine.

As the Imperial forces recover the Zillo Beast and round up the inhabitants of the nearby town to keep the Empire’s secret, the Bad Batch escape the chasing fighters on the Marauder. With loose ends to tie up Hemlock orders the tracking of the unknown military-class ship and back on Tantis meets Lama Su, former Prime Minister of Kamino, who informs of a clone girl that is the key to leverage his former head of research.

The Bad Batch, trying to speed their departure from the arid mining plane, start to fix an old speeder. At the same time Omega, still fixated on the stolen Marauder, has the idea to track their droid, Gonky, on board the ship. She locates Gonky 100 clicks away at another mining settlement, and the group head off on the repaired speeder to get their ship back.

They locate Gonky with the thief, called Benni, but not the Marauder. Benni tells them it is impounded by his boss Mokko at the Ipsum mine and is being stripped of its parts.

The Bad Batch infiltrates the mine bringing Benni along. Finding the Marauder, Wrecker, Hunter and Tech begin fixing the hyperdrive and other systems, while Benni and Omega head off to disable the ray shield preventing them from leaving.

In the mess hall they swipe the access code, but just as they are about to leave Mokko arrives informing them of the ongoing difficulties at the mine. While there to announce the top earner for the month, who gets extra food rations, he also informs his workers that they must work harder for less. Benni is disappointed not to get top earner after stealing the Marauder for Mokko.

Omega and Benni obtain the codes to disable the ray shield, but also finds data that shows the mine is making a good profit which she shares with Benni. But Benni has already ratted them out to Mokko in an attempt to further impress his boss and he captures Omega.

Mokko tries to stop the Bad Batch, using Omega as a bargaining chip. Held over the molten ore, Hunter must rescue Omega. Elsewhere as Mokko’s workers and robots surround Wrecker and Tech, Benni reveals Mokko’s deception to everyone. Turning on their boss, Mokko stumbles, falling into the molten ore.

With the Marauder back with the Bad Batch they prepare to leave the planet. Benni stays at the mine now that the profits will be equally shared, and Omega realises that there are other evils out in the Galaxy beside the newly formed Galactic Empire.

The Bad Batch 209 "The Crossing" Synopsis

Episode Written by: Brooke Roberts

Episode Directed By: Nathaniel Villanueva

The Bad Batch, minus Echo, head to a mining planet to gather a valuable, but explosive, ore called Ipsium from a mine recently purchased by Cid. With Wrecker and Omega on lookout an unknown thief manages to evade them and steal the Marauder leaving them stranded on an unpredictably stormy planet.

A brewing dust storm outside and a cave in at the mine’s entrance leave the group stranded inside further worsens their situation as tensions run high in the group, as Omega is finding it difficult accepting the loss of Echo from The Bad Batch that has been compounded by the loss of their home the Marauder.

As Wrecker and Hunter try to remove the boulders at the entrance of the mine, Tech and Omega look for more Ipsium to clear the larger boulders at the entrance. Despite Tech’s unsuccessful attempts to console Omega she wants to be alone.

Wandering the mine she finds more Ipsum to obtain and is joined by Tech. Reaching for the last vein of the ore she falls into a cavern and a series of underground streams. Tech jumps in after her and both are swept away to a large cave pool and a new way out of the mine.

Wrecker and Hunter make their way to join them and emerging from the mine system they seek sanctuary at an abandoned spaceport, where they manage to reach Cid asking for help. But Cid seems preoccupied and non-committal, but reluctantly she promises to send help, but it’ll take a few days. Left stranded tech connects with Omega saying that while he may not show it he feels the loss of Echo just as much as her.
