| Turk & Raz Podcast # 44 - Marvel’s secret for their Secret Invasion show & The Mandalorian Season 3 has a Big Problem | 10 Apr 2023 | 00:29:12 | |
We're back after a much needed break, and we're ready to cover some interesting news as it relates to some of our favorite IPs. First on deck is the much anticipated live action show covering MCU's Secret Invasion. Samuel L Jackson is back as Nick Fury, and the premise on paper sounds promising. However, information has come to light about the show being inspired by current world events. Will this be the usual MCU virtual signaling and preaching? Or will it mean something totally different and awesome? In addition, we also discuss Mandalorian Season 3 ratings slide, and Jon Favreau's recent statements claiming the buck stops at him when it comes to creative control with the show. Is this just a deflection to Protect Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy? If not, then the question becomes is Jon Favreau really fit to write for episodic TV? As usual we break it down the only way we can - with zero punches pulled! Anyways, come join the discussion and fun. As we fight one soy boy at a time. Thanks for listening.
| Turk & Raz Podcast # 43 - Legends of the Fall (1994) Retro Roundtable | 25 Feb 2023 | 00:41:36 | |
Welcome to another retro roundtable. For this roundtable we have become legend…. Legends of the Fall, that is. Turk and I always talk about how they don’t make movies like they used to anymore. To be honest we can’t remember the last time a film could hold a person, so spell bound. Well, the 1994 tragic and heartbreaking love story ‘Legends of the Fall’ does this to perfection. Not only are the characters in this movie engaging and vividly portrayed by the cast such as the likes of Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Julia Ormond, & Aidan Quinn. They also bring an inspired nuance and undertones, that is shame to this day none of the cast received an Oscar consideration for their portrayals. Everything in this movie is haunting, especially the Oscar winning cinematography capturing the beautiful scenery set in the Montana backdrop. Alright, ladies and gentlemen. If generational period films is your type of thing? Then this episode of the Turk & Raz Podcast has the jam you need. Thanks for listening! P.S. Sorry about the audio. We tried to salvage the podcast audio as best we could. Our only other option was re-record and who wants to do that lol.

| Turk & Raz Podcast # 41 - Back to the Future (1985) Retro Roundtable | 11 Feb 2023 | 00:49:45 | |
The Back To The Future trilogy has been a childhood favorite for both Turk & I for a long time. Having revisited the first movie for this retro roundtable, it brought us back to a very nostalgic state. I think we can all agree the 80's saw a lot of excellent original fun 'young' films like 'Back to the Future'. What really made these films immensely enjoyable then, and why they're still classics today, is that they really reflected what it was like being a young person in the 80s.....I guess in the 50s too?!. The proof is in the pudding with these movies. They were not just well written, directed, or acted. They were also well executed and most importantly they cut straight to the point. Back To The Future is sheer fun with incredible energy! However it still manages to stay a heart felt innocent film basically about family - with some funny interesting but cleaver themes using the Oedipus Rex's story 🤔 What can we say about the acting. Overall everyone in the film is fantastic. Then we have Christopher Lloyd as the over-the-top mad scientist which is just sheer brilliance. Then there is Michael J. Fox as Marty Mcfly. With his brilliant dialogue, natural charisma, and raw energy - he totally owns the role and gives us one the greatest cinematic young heroes ever! Back to the Future is one of the most enjoyable time-travelling classics. After all these years it still hasn't gotten old. Unfortunately, they don't make them like this anymore but then again I guess we can always just revisit them, right. This is a Turk & Raz episode you'll want to go back in time to listen to. Thanks for listening!

Hey everyone! We also discuss Avatar: The Way of Water's domestic and worldwide box office, and what James Cameron had to say about Marvel. We also look at a rumor suggesting a certain character in the new Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny role will be be cut down significantly. Who could it be and what is the reason for this? Finally, we cover some sad news as it relates to Mark Hamill's Joker. Since the passing of Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman from the legendary Batman: The Animated Series. The big question remains - will Hamill continue the role with out Conroy? If you like speculating about upcoming movies before their release. | Turk & Raz Podcast # 38 - Ant-Man Quantamaina Blunder, Releasing the Ayercut, & Will being a Musical Kill the Joker Franchise | 21 Jan 2023 | 00:26:40
In this episode we talk about some of the more interesting headlines and rumors associated with Marvel and DC films. First we cover a article reporting that the last minute Reshoots in January to Ant-Man & Wasp: Quantamania could mean we are getting a more dick and fart joke heavy movie vs a more serious deeply emotional film that it was originally intended to be? In the second article we cover the more likely possibility that David Ayer's original cut of the 2016 'Suicide Squad' will see the light of day with the new take over with James Gunn as the new CEO of DC Studios. Finally, we discuss an article discussing The Joker Part 2's composer discussing the sequels direction as a musical and what this all could mean for Todd Phillip's Joker Universe? Thanks for listening.
| Turk & Raz Podcast # 37 - Why Does Hollywood Suck so much these days | 07 Jan 2023 | 00:39:07 | |
There was once a time when going to the latest film at the cinema was a big event outing. These days anytime a big tentpole film is about to be released. The usual feeling is - what social political messages are they going to preach to us this time. It seems Hollywood has forgotten what people love about watching movies and TV shows? The chance to experience pure 'escapism'. Who didn't dream they could fly like Superman around the world, or take up adventures and fight the Evil Empire like Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia? Movie sequels such as Thor Love and Thunder, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever should be sure fire hits having people craving to see more of these fan favorite heroes. Instead these movies offer little more than some companies (Disney) or film makers particular social messaging by deconstructing and subverting our expectations on how these characters should be represented. Do we even have to mention Rian Johnson's take on Luke Skywalker in the Last Jedi. Where he took the most hopeful person in the Stars Wars Universe, and made him the most hopeless person who gave up on everyone - who's only purpose in the film is to die. In this episode of the Turk & Raz we do our own deconstruction on why Hollywood these days just plain SUCKS! Thanks for listening.

| Turk & Raz Podcast # 36 - DC continues to drop the ball with Superman | 30 Dec 2022 | 00:24:01 | |
DC is under new leadership. Warner Bros. Discovery has hired James Gunn as co-chairman and co-CEO of DC Studios. In their first order of business they decide to cut ties with Henry Cavill as Superman. Henry Cavill is more than just an actor. He is a unique person who has a true passion for fictional universes - DCs Superman, The Witcher, Warhammer. And we think he deserves better. In this episode we discuss the pros and cons of this big change. Is starting from scratch the kick start DC needs to finally have a cinamatic universe it's characters deserve. Also, we discuss what this could mean for the upcoming film's still yet to be released - Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Flash Point, Blue Beetle, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. How will this affect audiences excitement going into these films. Is there any point to care? I guess we'll wait and see. Thanks for listening.

| Turk & Raz Podcast # 34 - Gremlins (1984) Christmas Retro Roundtable | 17 Dec 2022 | 00:42:44 | |
Christmas is right around the corner. What better way to celebrate the holidays with a dark, crazy, twisted, inventive, and violent Christmas classic for our Retro Roundtable. Gremlins is the 1984 black comedy horror film directed by Joe Dante and written by Chris Columbus. This movie is greatness in every single way. The movie has it all: style, charm, horror, action, blood, guts, and humor, but it also never gets too overtly slapstick or comical. Don’t get us wrong, the tongue and cheek are still firmly in place. Gremlins in our opinions was among the top echelon of movies from the glorious ‘80’s (that decade was GREAT to be a kid or teenager). We pity the fool who doesn’t appreciate this classic.
So, when your washing machine blows up or your TV goes on the fritz, before you call the repair man, turn on all the lights and look under all the beds. ‘Cause you never can tell, there just might be a gremlin in your house. Thanks for listening.
Merry Christmas ya filthy animals!
| Turk & Raz Podcast # 33 - Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Review | 09 Dec 2022 | 00:21:35 | |
The Christmas season is here again. What better way to start things of with a little Good, the Bad, & Ugly review from our favorite Guardians of the Galaxy! Marvels 2nd special is a fun little Christmas story with little stake and that is perfectly fine. But don't kid yourself, this 45 min special adds way more to the Marvel universe than the entire phase 4 has done this whole time. But, you'll have to listen to our review to find out.....or, you might wanna watch the special before you do so "SPOILERS". Thanks for listening. Season Greetings from Turk & Raz!

| Turk & Raz Podcast # 32 - Avatar (2009) Retro Roundtable | 03 Dec 2022 | 00:48:15 | |
We're going to destroy this podcast just like James Cameron destroyed the box office back in 2009 with a little film called 'Avatar'. Both of us always felt this movie was a visual feast if nothing else. However, after re-watching it again, Avatar remains in its own way a cinematic wonder - which brings the audience as close as ever to actually visiting an alien world. The world of Pandora comes alive so visually, aurally and emotionally that it is in itself the true star of the show! After 12 years we think Avatar is a true event and it does what exactly a movie should be intended to do - it takes us away from our problems and worries for a few hours. Thanks for listening

Get ready for a symphony of silly! In our 4th and final Halloween Retro Roundtable we celebrate and discuss - Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn. Sami Raimi's definitive horror comedy sequel that improves upon the original installment in every way, but is it really considered a sequel or is it remake of the first movie?? In truth it doesn't really matter to us, because we love this movie all the same. Come join us and have a groovy time as we break down all the blood splatter, chainsaw cutting, and all the eyebrow-raising violence. Combined with masterful stop motion, practical effects, and of course the amazing physical acting from the one and only Bruce Campbell makes this a much see movie during Halloween or anytime really. | Turk & Raz Podcast # 29 - Tucker & Dale vs Evil (2010) Retro Roundtable | 22 Oct 2022 | 00:35:10
Oh hidy-ho officer, we've had a doozy of a day!
We are here with our third Halloween Retro Roundtable episode. This time we thought we would select a wonderful, lighthearted, enjoyable movie, with a great cast and a great story, you'll find yourself in stitches at the scenarios in this movie. Actually, more like in pieces
This is not Scary Movie crap. Tucker and Dale vs Evil is an inventive and fresh take on the horror/slasher spoofs - with a lot of heart. Tyler Labine and Alan Tudyk are the "Hillbillies" in this hilarious tale of prejudice and paranoia. This movie is dumb and dumber gone fishing meets Friday the 13th
If you are a fan of dark comedy horror movies! Then this is a Turk & Raz Retro Roundtable you will not want to miss. Thanks for listening.

Which brought a brutal freshness to the Hollywood epic and shows off Scorsese's skills as a master of storytelling combining scale, precision, and spectacle. Highlighted by the scene stealing electrifying performance by Daniel Day-Lewis as Bill the Butcher. Gangs of New York is a must see film that, in decades to come, will only grow in stature and importance! | Turk & Raz Talk Wrestling - The Iron Claw of Wrestling | 07 Jan 2024 | 01:03:48
Turk & Raz engage in detail analysis and discussion of their fondness for the wacky world of professional wrestling. From the time we first discovered it, the best historical moments (How did watching Wrestlemaina 2 lead to Raz destorying his parents TV), and to this day why does Wrestling still have a strangle on the cultural zeitgeist?! We also then discuss 'The Iron Claw', a film which delves into the tragic story of the Von Erich family. It's an emotionally haunting film that is going to stick with you for a while, especially if you don't know the history? Director Sean Durkin crafts an unfathomably tragic story and tells it with needed grace and tenderness. Zac Efron gives his best performance to date as the eldest living brother - seeing the loss and tragedy through his eyes is touching and heart breaking all at the same time. The supporting cast is flawless, except for the person who portrayed Ric Flair. A broom in the closet could of given a way better performance, just saying. The Iron Claw is a beautiful gut-wrenching film -- telling a tragic story of brotherhood, love, pain, expectations, favouritism, and legacy. We both found ourselves heartbroken by the tragedies portrayed on screen, yet incredibly moved by the brotherhood these characters shared. We are not promised tomorrow. Make sure to hold your loved ones close! Thanks for listening!
