| BROTHER!! Ranking ALL Space Marine Factions in Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition | 13 Aug 2026 | 01:44:18 | |
Which Space Marine chapter is your favourite? Tell us at https://discord.gg/2dX5JqfNQ6 – We're back to where it all started; we are redoing our original four episodes! Those inaugural episodes served as both an introduction to and a metrics-based review of each playable faction in Warhammer 40,000. With 11th edition landing hot and new players joining the scene, we feel it's a great time to revisit these topics. First up, we have all of the loyalist Space Marine factions, from those found in Codex: Space Marines, to supplements, to even the corners of Index: Deathwatch. How this series works is we blend matter-of-fact orientation with opinionated review. We give each of the four categories a ranking between 1-5, and an overall score out of 20. We call this the SLAG ranking. We feel these categories cover all you need to know: Style - the overall aesthetic and whether we feel it is fully realised. Lore - their place in the universe, how they are represented, and how they carry themselves within the epic. Accessibility - whether the faction is easy to acquire, paint, and get going with. And finally, Gameplay - how all of the above culminates on the tabletop, whether their rules serve the faction well, and if the faction has meat on their bones both casually and competitively. – TIMESTAMPS 00:00 Intro and explaining our ranking system 05:20 ULTRAMARINES: the Greco-Roman utility knife 14:48 WHITE SCARS: Gotta Go Fast 22:31 SALAMANDERS - Burn. Whether called to action by the oppression of da Ork bosses or by the need to lead their fellow twits in defiance of an overwhelming enemy, Da Red Gobbo is not one entity but a figurehead adopted by many a Grot. Made popular in Warhammer 40,000: Apocalypse, the Phoenix Court depicts an assembly of the Aeldari War God Khaine and several Phoenix Lords. These Phoenix Lords include Asurmen and his disciples from the earliest days of The Fall, where he taught Jain Zar, Fuegan, Baharroth, Maugan Ra, Lhykis and more the ways of warfare and how to defend the Aeldari people. In this episode, we cover the Raven Guard heroes of the 40k tabletop, fan-favourite Kayvaan Shrike, 3rd Company Captain turned temporary Chapter Master during the Damocles Crusade, and newly modelled Aethon Shaan, the new Chapter Master. Both of these warriors are legendary guerrilla fighters, exemplars of their chapter's way of warfare: stealth, subterfuge, assassination. On the tabletop, these individuals reward you for bringing lots of Jump Pack and Phobos units, able to redeploy them on and off the tabletop, whilst benefitting from a suite of stealthy buffs. – TTP Field Manual is brought to you by Joshy and Jonny, best friends and gaming enthusiasts from their local group, Trust the Process Hobbies. Die-hard fans of tabletop gaming, we use this podcast as a platform to share our ramblings about the hobby (though we cannot shut up about Warhammer). By day, Joshy is a therapist; by night, he's an RPG aficionado who grew up on Final Fantasies and crafting his own Dungeons & Dragons worlds. Jonny, a technician, spends his downtime conquering more video games than Joshy can keep track of. Zakky, our occasional guest, is a courier who loves buying things he then has to build. In these FINAL DAYS, join us in our exploration of the "who, what, where, why, and how" of iconic figures from across Warhammer 40,000's lore and tabletop in the form of a casual character dossier. We return to Chaos with a comprehensive look at Vashtorr the Arkifane, Architect of the Arks of Omen, and ruler of the Forge of Souls. He is Chaos's weapons dealer - he plays all sides of the conflict within the warp, bartering with each of the Four to create their daemon engines and other infernal weaponry. He has established a sense of order within his growing domain, as industry and creation in the material realm empower him in his quests for pantheon ascension. Upon the tabletop, Vashtorr wreaks havoc against his opponent's machinery, as well as seriously buffing nearby daemon engines. – TTP Field Manual is brought to you by Joshy and Jonny, best friends and gaming enthusiasts from their local group, Trust the Process Hobbies. Next on this Veiled Path is the enigmatic "main character" for the Aeldari Harlequins: Sylandri Veilwalker. A being rumoured to be multiple within a role, each moment of Veilwalker's lore pushes forward the tapestry of characters across 40k. From communications with Fabius Bile, working alongside the Fallen Angel Cypher, and escorting Yvraine, Herald of Ynnead, Veilwalker is the Laughing God's jest: a plot device. Once consort to Asdrubael Vect, the Archon of the Kabal of the Poisoned Tongue is a mastermind with allies across all corners of the Aeldari tapestry. Both on the tabletop and in the lore, Lady Malys can bend others' perceptions regarding her game plan, with that deception extending to her lethality in combat. A rampant mutation would plague the Thousand Sons since their inception, and after making a deal with Tzeentch to save the legion from the Space Wolves and their assault during the Horus Heresy, the legion would be doomed. As this mutation increased, Ahriman sought a cure - a magical antitode he would name The Rubric. The ways of Tzeentch would reveal themselves as The Rubric would change the mutated into dust, animating their armour as soulless beings. Ahriman would spend the rest of his life seeking to correct his mistake, along the way gaining power beyond that of any mortal psyker throughout the galaxy. – TTP Field Manual is brought to you by Joshy and Jonny, best friends and gaming enthusiasts from their local group, Trust the Process Hobbies. Finally discussing October's BOOK CLUB, Jonny and Joshy share their opinions on the LitRPG sensation 'He Who Fights with Monsters' Book 1, written by Shirtaloon, and performed on audio by Heath Miller. A first for us, a LitRPG, or literary role-playing game, combines the qualities of a role-playing game (think Dungeons & Dragons) with a fantasy novel. The result? Jason Asano, an Australian man, is transported to an unknown realm in an Isekai fashion, blessed (or cursed?) with magic and an altered physiology. Jason quickly befriends a group of local adventurers who train him and help him to fit into this new world. Let us know what you thought by reaching out to us on Discord! | DRUKHARI: Is 10th Edition's Final Codex Good? | 40k Review | 10 Nov 2025 | 02:26:20 | |
Website/links: https://ttpfieldmanual.captivate.fm – Joshy and Jonny review the likely final codex of Warhammer 40,000's '10th Edition' - Codex: Drukhari. This faction is the setting's equivalent to a fantasy "Dark Elf" The Drukhari are sadistic raiders, riding out from their Dark City to enslave and butcher all, so that they may stave off their own demise at Slaanesh's hands. On the tabletop, the Drukhari are at baseline the fastest group of units, excelling at rapidly disembarking from, slaughtering their foe, and re-embarking into transports as hit-and-run specialists. While their range may be slim in recent times, and with models approaching an outdated aesthetic, we had a lot of fun exploring their rules and determining ways to use every unit and engage with the factions in several detachments.
