After graduating from The Boston Conservatory, she began working for Boston casting, and at the age of 24, opened The Burtwood School of Performing Arts in Middleboro, MA. In its current location, the school building is also the home of The Alley Theatre. Lorna is passionate about teaching and sharing her love for the arts. She has worked as a vocal instructor, acting coach, pageant consultant, producer, and more. She curates and hosts many great events and shows, such as her vendor market series - Sip and Stroll. After being diagnosed with Thyroid cancer at 33, Lorna found that there was limited information and resources for treatment and what to expect with this prognosis. This led her to write her first book - Dirty Bombshell: From Thyroid Cancer Back to Fabulous! Lorna then tells us the story of her Mother’s Cancer diagnosis years later, the amazing approach Wanda took to cope with it, and the adventures it led them on. In this episode, we sit down with CJ Martin to talk about his experiences with international fishing trips. CJ tells us about our he found Lake Baccarac on a fishing trip with friends and the Lake Baccarac Lodge in Mexico. He was immediately hooked (pun intended). Since that first trip, he has gone back many times, at this point, multiple times a year. He tells us what is different about the fishing there and what you can expect. If you are not all in on fishing, these trips are not for the faint of heart. You are on a boat fishing for 12 hours a day on most days. During these trips, he has made many good friends, and this year they put together a big trip to go fishing in Columbia. They were at a riverside lodge deep in the Amazon. CJ explains that the big catch there is the peacock bass, a species of freshwater cichlids. His largest catch on the trip was a 19.5 lb fish, and he hopes to beat it on his next trip. Aaron takes DIY to a new level, creating his masks and props entirely from scratch. This allows him to nail down every tiny detail to bring his ideas to life. Aaron explains his process for 3d printing some pieces and how some are made entirely of foam. He even 3d printed himself stilts to increase his height to almost 8 feet for his most recent creation, the forest spirit. He tells us about where some of the characters he chooses are from and what some of the ones he would like to do next.
