I decided it was long overdue to take the Pacific Surfliner to Santa Barbara, California. I have always talked about wanting to so we set off from the Van Nuys station to Santa Barbara. Lagos, Nigeria, boasts a diverse range of flora and fauna despite being a densely populated urban area. The mangrove forests in Lagos are vital ecosystems that serve as breeding grounds for fish and crustaceans. They also act as natural barriers against coastal erosion and storm surges, providing protection for coastal communities. Lagos is home to numerous bird species, both resident and migratory. The Lagos Lagoon and surrounding wetlands attract a variety of waterfowl, including herons, egrets, kingfishers, and ducks. The city's parks and green spaces also provide habitat for terrestrial birds such as weavers, sunbirds, and pigeons. Despite its urbanization, Lagos contains pockets of biodiversity hotspots, particularly in its remaining natural areas such as Lekki Conservation Centre and Omu Resort. These areas harbor a wide range of plant and animal species, including monkeys, snakes, butterflies, and diverse plant species.Unfortunately, the rich biodiversity in the region attracts bad players. Wildlife are often killed indiscriminately or sold in wet markets for superstitious beliefs.
