Episode 36: Estrogen Dominance Explained: The Link to Painful Periods and Mood Swings with Dr. Michelle Weeks17 Feb 202501:18:25

Are you experiencing painful periods, mood swings, or unexplained weight gain? If so, you might be dealing with estrogen dominance. (Previously episode 7 of season 2)

In this insightful episode of TMI Talk, Dr. Mary Grimberg welcomes Dr. Michelle Weeks to dive deep into this often-overlooked condition that affects so many women.

Key highlights from the episode include a breakdown of what estrogen dominance is and its impact on the body, discussing the important roles of progesterone and estrogen throughout the menstrual cycle, and why the balance (or imbalance) of these hormones can lead to a variety of symptoms. The discussion also covers the perils of chronic stress, a common contributor to hormonal imbalance due to its effect on cortisol levels, and its downstream impact on conditions such as insulin resistance.

Listeners will gain a better understanding of the symptoms of estrogen dominance, including abnormal menstrual bleeding, fibro-cystic breasts, endometriosis, and more. Dr. Weeks also provides practical guidance on hormone testing, lifestyle changes, and dietary adjustments to manage estrogen levels effectively.

Takeaways and actionable steps:

  • Consider getting your hormone levels tested on specific days of your menstrual cycle (Day 3 for estrogen, Day 18-21 for progesterone) for accurate assessment.
  • Explore the Dutch Test if you have irregular periods or are on birth control.
  • Start managing stress effectively through mindfulness practices like meditation, which can lead to balanced cortisol levels.
  • Begin supporting your liver with cruciferous vegetables, fiber-rich foods, and probiotics for better estrogen detoxification.
  • Engage in regular strength training and post-meal walks to aid insulin sensitivity and metabolic health.
  • Evaluate the products you use daily and consider replacing those with harmful endocrine disruptors with cleaner options.

For further insight, revisit Episode 2 of Season 2 on anxiety and stress management to complement the knowledge gained in this episode.

Listeners can also take a free hormone symptom quiz available on Dr. Michelle Weeks' Instagram (@weekswellness) bio to gain more clarity on potential hormonal imbalances.

Episode 44: Grief, Fascia & the Nervous System: How Your Body Feels What You Don’t Say with Sue Hitzmann14 Apr 202501:06:13

Dr. Mary sits down with Sue Hitzmann—An internationally recognized educator in neurofascial science, manual therapist, exercise physiologist, and a New York Times Best Seller.

They dive into how fascia is more than just “connective tissue”—it's a sensory and structural system that holds the impact of stress, trauma, and unprocessed emotions.

They also talk about grief: Sue shares what she learned after the loss of her husband, and Dr. Mary opens up about navigating the recent death of her brother. Together, they speak honestly about how they've found ways to keep living—and even experiencing joy—through it all.

In this episode, they discuss:

  • The role of fascia in nervous system regulation, movement, and emotional processing
  • How emotions like grief, anger, and fear can physically show up in the body
  • What “self-care” really means
  • The difference between pain and suffering—and how mindset, movement, and awareness shape both
  • How to support your clients (and yourself) when emotions surface

Whether you're a healthcare provider, movement professional, or just someone trying to feel more at home in your body, this conversation blends science, story, and soul in a way that might just change how you approach pain, emotions, and healing.

Hey there! This is another solo episode and today we will be discussing what is Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy.

I don’t have anyone in particular who asked about this, but I hear this question often. Most people assume that when they go and see a pelvic floor physical therapist it’s because they are pregnant or are postpartum.

However, there are so many other facets with Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. Everybody with a pelvis has a pelvic floor and there are issues or problems that are not even based on gender or age.

So, if you are interested to know more about Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy, listen to this episode and empower yourself with knowledge and education that you can share to others, too!

Let’s talk about:

Episode 4 - What is HPV?17 Apr 202300:35:20

For this episode, we have Dr. Amanda DiSarro. She is a board certified OB/GYN and is currently working at Hill Country OB/GYN at Austin, Texas.

We will be talking about Human papillomavirus (HPV) because many people have a lot of questions about it and there isn’t a ton of education on it. During my pelvic floor training, this topic was touched on but not to the depth that Dr. Amanda knows.

Episode 42: Trauma-Informed Care: What to Look for in a Healthcare Provider w Dr. Jocelyne Vo31 Mar 202500:43:52

Have you ever left a doctor’s office feeling like something was… off?

Or maybe you were told “we’re going to fix you” without anyone asking what you thought or how you felt. If so, this episode is for you.

In this deeply honest and approachable conversation, Dr. Mary sits down with holistic chiropractor Dr. Jocelyne Vo to talk about something that’s not discussed nearly enough: how to find a practitioner who truly creates a safe space for healing-and how to tell when you’re being bamboozled by marketing, ego, or rushed care.

Both Dr. Mary and Dr. Jocelyne share their insights as trauma-informed, hands-on practitioners who prioritize real connection, personalized care, and a collaborative approach to healing. They discuss what a safe space really means in healthcare, how trauma (even the unspoken kind) shows up in the body, and why true healing can’t be rushed—or outsourced.

Together, they cover:

-Why the energy of a clinic matters (spoiler: your nervous system knows before your brain does)

-How to spot red flags like high-pressure sales pitches or “I’m going to fix you” language

-The importance of longer intake sessions and slower, more intentional care

-How trauma-informed providers can hold space without rehashing trauma

-Why consent is an ongoing conversation, not a one-time checkbox

-How chronic stress and pain often show up as symptoms—and what to do about it

-The delicate dance between self-responsibility and practitioner support

-Why “body awareness” is more powerful than a list of exercises you'll forget to do

This episode is packed with practical, science-backed, heart-centered guidance for anyone looking to build a healthcare team that truly supports them. Whether you’re just starting your healing journey or you’ve seen all the specialists and are still looking for answers, this episode will help you trust yourself, listen to your body, and know what to look for in a provider.

Because healing isn’t about handing over your power. It’s about reclaiming it—with the right people by your side.
